Was never a problem as they would price match. It was a pain to take in the best pricing but it worked. They now advise that they will no longer price match but will write a prescription for you and charge $12.50 for the prescription. Really???? If it wasn't for our dog being use to the VET we would move. Unfortunately we have an older dog and when she is gone and we have a puppy will have to look for another VET. I never write reviews but what did it for me was how they helped me handle having to put my best friend down. When the decision was made to put her down they sat in there with us until she took her last breath, some of the assistants that knew her came in to ask to say goodbye (which made me feel she was loved) and to top it all off today I received a card in the mail signed by all the staff and her doctor. I couldn't believe they would take the time to do that. I have never been to a vet who cared so much. My dog Dahlia had many health issues. They always got me in within a day or two, all the assistants took the time to talk, pet and meet her. Dr Goodwin took time to call and talk to me and took my financial situation into consideration all the time. I couldn't have asked for a better vet. Thank yall.. Our beautiful 8 yr. old "Domino" was caught in a glue rat trap this past weekend. I can't begin to describe what this precious animal had to go through... not to mention the agony of what Phil & I have had to endure trying to save her life! Countless baths, scratches, cat bellows, trips to vet, poison checks, loss of fur, shock, & overall trauma...She's on day 3 & her last trip to the vet. I'm EXHAUSTED, but just so grateful we didn't lose her! She's such a huge part of our family. I'm not rooting for rats & mice, however, I'm 100% "Team Wildlife & Small Children!" If you use these traps, PLEASE consider where you place them. Consider the suffering & death it often causes if you "trap" something other than a rodent. BTW...I'm willing to bet Domino was chasing the damn rat & would've taken it off your hands! THANK YOU TO CHISHOLM TRAIL VET CLINIC for taking care of our beloved Domino! This Vet clinic is amazing! All the employees are extremely nice, sympathetic to your needs and knowledgeable of their profession. I am a veteran and have an emotional support dog and they literally saved his life. He had a severe internal infection and was days away from having to be put down. Had my first experience with this Vet Service and Dr. Sullivan on the 1st of June for an emergency with my horses. They are wonderful! My horse had impaled himself during one of the storms .... I am a 911 dispatcher and I totally fell apart! Thank goodness for their expertise and understanding! Highly recommend them and will now bring the rest of my menagerie to them! :) Read Less

I was really pleased with my experience here.  We are new to the area/military so we tend to rely on Yelp a lot - and least likely to try somewhere with no feedback.  Yet, I was needing help getting vaccines for my 2 westies to be boarded.    The place is small and dated.  It has a dog odor that some facilities manage better, but ... The service my dogs got was amazing.  One of my dogs had recently had a breakout with allergies and I have been barely able to keep up with it - trying on my own for fear of outlandish vet fees..  The dogs had 3yr vaccines but our local area promotes 1yr vaccines.  I declined to give them the vaccines again which was very hard for me and awkward, but they respected my decision.  I just had them give her what was necessary for boarding that we were not current on.The doctor was VERY knowledgable and explained what's going on with her and how I could help.  She recommended a food and shampoo, but by no means made me feel obligated to purchase from them.  I WANTED to buy these things because of how well she explained how they worked.  And within days the problem is subsiding.  I don't think it's the food (yet) because she said it would take up to 12 weeks for it to have its effects.The next day I got a call from the receptionist and I asked questions regarding a salve I was putting on the dog.  The actual doctor called back and we reasoned through what I was using over the counter as well as the shampoo (which was amazing).  And the next day... I got a card from the clinic welcoming the dogs.  However, I think most vets do this now.With all being said, even though the actual facility is not the greatest (yet it was very clean) and they could probably benefit by investing in making the smell not so strong or opening the doors to refresh the air quality ... this Vet will now be the vet we take our dogs to from now on.  I appreciated that they respected my ownership over the dogs care and helped me by giving information as to how to best treat them.  I wish them the best. This is the place to go if you have lots of extra money to blow. Youll be nickle & dimed. I had my cat dewormed there. Was given a topical to put between his shoulder blades. A few days later i noticed that all of his furr had fallen out where the topical had been applied. When i asked Dr Golla about this, his response was that the furr probably wouldn't grow back & just to use that bald spot for future topicals. REALLY? Read Less

My mother uses the clinic in Lockhart. The vets have been wonderful when she has needed emergency care at different hours of the day. (I've only been on one emergency trip with my mother & was also impressed.) One of the clinic's vets actually calls you and sees you- no frantic worrying and driving an extra 30 minutes to an emergency clinic in Austin (that you have no relationship with) because your local vet clinic refuses to want to deal with night & weekend calls. The vets are great with the level of care they and their staff provide. The vet and staff know my mother's name & the pets' names and actually care about the animals and humans alike. I used Countryside Vet for over 15 years. When Dr. Knippa retired, his staff told me that Dr. Golla used the same philosphies. Talk about B.S. I took my animals in for a dental cleaning and paid almost $1,000. The following month, I inherited a new cat already in liver failure and took her to an emergency clinic on a Sunday. Since I was taking her there almost weekly, I took an older pet there when he was sick to "kill two birds with one stone". They diagnosed him with asthma. I took him to Dr. Golla to have his records updated and to ensure that Dr. Golla was aware of the situation, and to schedule an appointment for the new animal. The visit was pleasant, and he agreed with the other vet on the asthma diagnosis. I explained that I had no intention of switching, but took the older pet to the other vet to save a trip since the cat in liver failure was already there. The next day, I received a letter in the mail from Dr. Golla that we had failed to establish a trusting relationship, and I should find another vet. Dr. Golla is simply looking to rip people off, and can't handle it when you take your animals to another clinic. I will NEVER go back to him. With his kind of service, his New Braunfels location will fail miserably. Read Less

I went in with my cat that had mild ringworm. I was almost certain it was ringworm before I went. Dr. Knippa performed the blacklight test and said it wasn't ringworm-that he was certain of it. He said it was a reaction to his collar. Comforted by his diagnosis I went home and didn't continue using athlete's foot cream on him. A week later it had engulfed his whole head and went down his back. I took him to another vet in the area that diagnosed it as ringworm and started oral medication, dips and topical treatment since it was so bad!!! The blacklight test is only effective for certain types of ringworm spores not all of them. Dr. Knippa was not knowledgeable about the different treatments or diagnosing methods of ringworm and now my cat has to be boarded at the other vet to avoid contaminating my home and small child!!! If I had this diagnosed sooner and began treatment it would have never gotten this bad!! I would definitely NOT RECOMMEND COUNTRYSIDE VET!!!! Read Less

I boarded my puppy here for the weekend and was given a good price. I even agreed to the two EXTRA SHOTS they required, eventhough my regular vet said everything was current. Nonetheless, even with the price I was given it still seemed reasonable. However, when i went to pick up my sweet pooch, I was hit with about 40 PERCENT IN ADDITIONAL AND UNDISCLOSED CHARGES and a very hostile clerk who yelled at me and told me I could not discuss it with the Vet. She also claimed that I was well aware of the fathom charges and to pay or I couldn't get my dog. Well, I paid under duress, but my puppy looked kind of light so I asked the nice kennel lady to weigh my dog and we both saw that he he lost a whopping 7 percent of his overall weight in just that weekend! I couldn't believe it. So when I got home I called to speak to the Vet but was only allowed to speak to the Manager. I explained everything very nicely but she was not offering any help with the MISREPRESENTATION and the lost weight/ HEALTH ISSUE ( I had even supplied them with my own special puppy food to give my beloved pet). Dr. Knippa and the great staff at Countryside have been wonderful to me and to my pets. I currently have 2 dogs and 3 cats, and he has cared for all of them skillfully, both in their regular care and in emergency situations. He also helped me through the very difficult geriatric years and eventual loss of my 17-year-old golden retriever mix, 12-year-old shepherd mix, and 17-year-old diabetic cat.
