Horrible , office manager Karen enjoys abusing seniors. Beware, she teaches her staff to double charge, padding the bills. Recently visited with my puppy who was injured. Within a day was told my dog wasn't improving but getting worse. That he had alot of fluid in the brain. Then it was that it was his nervous system. Recommended that I put him to sleep. Called another vet for a second opinion. When I called back to speak to someone about sending over my dogs records to the other vet was told they would but needed to type them up, never did. Moments later Karen called me saying that I was ungrateful for all they did for me. She had discounted treatments and friends of Otis had donated $75 towards my 6 month old puppies bill. I never asked for any discounts and never asked for the donation. She had already put everything in my bill. So because I was taking my puppy to another vet who said that they may be able to help she insulted me and said that if she had known that I had alot of money since I was willing to pay services of two vet clinics that she would've charged me full price on everything, never would've asked friends of Otis for the donation. She told me as long as I donate something back we were square. Never apologized and never wished my puppy the best or a speedy recovery just plain out rude and spiteful. Will never go to this veterinary clinic again. I picked up my puppy and asked when was the last time he was given pain medication and was told earlier but couldn't give me an actual time. The receptionist just kept guessing. Asked about pain meds they were supposed to give and special food to give me since it would be a day before I could take to the other vet. Was told the pain medication they injected him with last 24 hours of which they didn't know how long the 24 hour time that the medication would expire since they had no clue when it was given to him. They told me just buy him any puppy food from the stores. When originally before knowing about me calling another clinic they told me they were going to give me pain pills for him and some high protein food. But since I was taking him else where they no longer wanted to help him with what he needed. My puppy was in severe pain and worse off than when I had dropped him off. They handled him roughly when bringing him out to me with my puppy crying at the top of his lungs. Waste of a day and half, they just kept injecting him with steroids and pain medications but never ran more test to see if he could be saved. Instead they wanted me to put him down. With the other vet my puppy is showing improvements, still not at 100% but happy he is at least improving. Cuz at this clinic he was only getting worse. No matter what always get second opinions never give up on ur pets. Thank you friends of Otis and yes I made a $20 donation when I paid the bill and let them know to tell Karen since she said when I make the donation to make sure they make her aware. Worse service ever if you don't know how to treat the animal and ur not sure what your looking for then please admit it and quit wasting people's time and money. My dogs are my family and this clinic treated him like he was nothing. Shame on you all making it about money. I pray the owners see these bad experiences and reach out to the unsatisfied customers to hear what we have to say. Read Less

I had taken in my stray puppy to have a well check, and was unable to go back to the room with him so never found out his age or anything else about him, they were rude and accusing, but I set him up to be neutered after the procedure and I had him home and discovered a large hard lump by the surgery site, I called and practically had to beg Dr Doody to come in after hours to check him as any concerned pet owner/ mom would do! I was quoted a cost of $40 for this, but when I came in to pick up my puppy's medications I was told I had to pay $50, I was then asked to come behind the counter by the Office Manager who was extremely rude and accusatory towards me, and I had to pay the $50 before I could get my pup's meds, I will NEVER go back to this vet clinic as all they seem concerned about is getting there money before the wellness of your pet. Took my 1 year old puppy in for a check up today and they wanted to euthinuze him after 5 minutes! Wow! I had gotten him from the new braunfels humane society a little over a month ago. He is still adjusting and is a bit fearful of people. I explained that to them. Without warning they inserted a thermometer up his anus for about a minute which freaked him out. Then the vet comes in and starts grabbing at his face in an attempt to view his teeth. He nipped but didnt bite. They immediatly go to muzzle him which he didnt like and scared him more. The vet team really escalated their aggressive behavior quickly making the situation worse. They removed him from the room and come back 2 minutes later. The vet then suggests that we euthinuze my puppy!! Explains that he is a menace and will attack and hurt people and cant be trusted around humans! Thats the fix!? Seriously!? Your puppy is scared and acting up at this moment so my professional opinion is to euthanize him. Absolutely crazy!!! He was scared. I wouldn't believe it had it not happened to me. I walked out stunned and angry. I drove over to Comal Pet Hospital where they were able to see him on the spot and treated Charly with kindness. We had zero issues there and what a great team they have. What a crazy vet! Wanted to put my dog to sleep because he was acting difficult! She had 5 minutes with him and decided he should die! Although the clinic came highly recommended they refused to see me and my dog. It was in an emergency situation.. nothing too terrible, however I was really in shock and really needed support and they refused to see me ..so apparently their redtape is more important than the lives of little animals and that's just not in alignment with my values so I won't be back.Read Less

We're new in town and thought this vet sounded like the right place to take our cat. Wrong! The receptionist told me they were one to two weeks out by appointment only. Plus, they will only do emergencies for established customers. The receptionist was very abrupt and a little rude. Seems like a pretty snooty place to me. When we got our chocolate lab Hannah we chose NB Vet Clinic due to their location and we heard Dr. Grantham was an excellent veterinarian. Over the years we got to know the office staff as if they were family... Hannah developed diabetes and our relationship grew as we had to visit them every week, then monthly. As she aged they were the ones who handled our urgent calls, boarded her when we left town, loved her as their own! She loved them! She would be excited to know we were going to the vet, throw her front paws on the counter to say "hello" I am here! When we had to make the decision to put her down the vets, techs, front office treated Hannah and our family with the most respect. We will always be grateful to Dr Grantham and his staff. They take your dog in the back, don't communicate well, then have untrained young ladies at the front trying to explain medications they know knowing about. It is nothing more than a factory. Run them in the front, leave you pet and come back and pay. Cost me $400 more to take to Comal Veterinary to get my dog treated properly. They allow vet techs to do doctors work and you pay doctor prices. Go else where. Read Less

We just transferred to this vet after moving to New Braunfels. We were scheduled for a meet and greet for a Cavi puppy. We loved the staff. The vet was new - Dr Williams. She was so sweet to our Bella and Bella loved her. She was great about the diet we feed our puppy and said we were doing a great job with her. So my husband & I are new to the area...a friend of mine had recommended this clinic so I gave it a shot. Walked in with my dogs papers in hand and explained how I just needed HW Prevention along with flea/tick meds. A lady at front desk took my papers, briefly glanced at it then had a disgusted look on her face like "Ughhhhh " & passed my paperwork off to another young lady next to her. Was not greeted, and definitely didn't feel welcomed. Needless to say, I called my Vet back home & they are mailing me the meds my dog needs ....& I won't return to this clinic for any services. We have only lived here for 6 weeks & this was the 2nd rude encounter: people here are usually extremely polite & nice. Very disappointed in the lady at this clinic....very unprofessional ! Have had excellent expiriences with them, I won't take my pets anywhere else. Currently there is a situation with my doberman and they have been available, informative, friendly, and a much better value than the previous vets I've experienced in the New Braunfels area. This facility has always taken care of my cats. Always do a great job, aren't over the top expensive, very knowledgeable, and probably saved my cats life with a simple UTI infection that I had no idea what life threatening. Best place in New Braunfels. Would never go anywhere else.Read Less

My first visit here overall was pleasant. When I walked in it was absolutely packed. The front desk staff seemed a bit unpleasant (but it could also be since it was packed and the phones were ringing off the hook- they said Monday's are their busiest days). I hope my experiences when I come back are a little more pleasant with them, butI understand how busy days can be when dealing with the public.The vet and vet tech were wonderful! They were very friendly, knowledgeable and talked to me in layman terms about my cat. They were gentle and did an extensive, yet quick exam- inside of the eyelids, down the throat, genitals, intestines, etc. They were a lot more thorough than my last vet and half the cost! So far I will be back! They were also very timely- a HUGE plus to me.I saw that they sell Science Diet and other prescription dog and cat foods in both small and large bags, but unfortunately they didn't carry the exact kind of Science Diet I use for my feline friend. I thought NB Vet was good until I had to take my Aussie to an orthopedic vet in San Antonio a few weeks ago.Rosie slipped and fell a few months back and screamed when she went down.  We look her to Dr. Doody when we saw she wasn't putting any weight on one leg.  He said she had "sprained it" and gave her pain pills.  She never got completely better from the "sprain".  We took her to the ortho vet for another problem a few months later.  Dr. Israel diagnosed poor Rosie with a blown ACL just by feeling her knee!  My sweet Rosie had walked around on a blown ACL for months!!!  I've NEVER go to NB Vet again!! My family has been using this very for 10 years. The prices have always been reasonable. We have 3 dogs. They have always been great. One time a rattle snake bit one of our dogs in the face and another in the leg on a Saturday afternoon. My wife took them both in I was working 100 miles away. They had to keep the one with the face bite for a few days. They stayed late so I could see her. We had a cat until recently, she died. They helped us immensely. Poor service. The front office is very very rude and they love drama. I took my dog there because she broke her leg and they did a terrible job fixing her leg. We got a new puppy last week and she was great, but quickly deteriorated (stopped eating, severe awful smelling diarrhea, vomiting).  Poor thing had parvo, which if you aren't familiar with it, is a nasty virus with a 50/50 mortality rate.  Dr. Doody, and the entire staff at NB Vet Clinic were sympathetic and saved the life of the newest member of our family.  Our dog was in the hospital for 5 days and as an added bonus, the bill was substantially less than I was anticipating (or that others had mentioned), inclusive of follow up medicine/special food.  Almost all of my friends and family go to NB Vet Clinic and I see why now.  If you have a puppy with similar symptoms, take her to the vet immediately.  Hydration and antibiotics are the only way to keep them healthy enough to pull through. I do not recommend new braunfels vet clinic at all. We started going there after a friend suggested it. We were loyal clients for the past five years putting up with their rudeness and sometimes openly hostile attitudes for quite awhile. We even put up with them refusing to see our new dachshund puppy for three days even though it had worms so bad they were crawling out of her behind. The last straw came though for us this past Monday. We noticed the puppy we adopted from the animal shelter in bastrop was acting sick and called an hour before closing to try and get her in. After five years and endless amounts of money spent there Dr. Grantham wouldn't bother to see her. Thankfully we were able to get in to banfield pet hospital in San Marcos. Thank goodness we did! Turns out she had parvo! Luckily she is well on the way to a full recovery thanks to Dr. Hewins. Now there is a super vet I would recommend to anyone! Read Less

Although I had taken my dog to another vet in town, a friend's referral, Dr. Grantham was the one who diagnosed the problem, even after the other vet took X-rays. Not only did he diagnosed an ACL tear, he discovered that my dog had a heart murmur too. Of course, I will be using a specialist for the surgery, but at least I found out what the problem was. My parents to their animals to New Braunfels Veterinarian Clinic for many years. I followed in their footsteps and am very glad I did. Our beloved cat, Ringo, had a very unusual problem. Without getting into specifics, Dr. Grantham did everything he could surgically to remedy the problem. However, Ringo passed away after a hard fight. I received a card from the clinic and was really touched. They had told me how much they missed Ringo because of his laid back personality. He was the definition of a ""Cool Cat."" The front desk people, office manager and all of the doctors are terrific. If you prefer a male doctor, you can request Dr. Grantham or Dr. Doody. Dr. Pearson is also a terrific choice. She took care of my sweet lab, Phoebe, and was so gentle and loving. Bottom line, I've read some negative reviews of the clinic, but they all seem to be trivial. Do soem research of your own before you post it. And, also of importance is if you call 20 minutes before the clinic closes, you cannot expect a miracle. They don't have time to solve a problem and gave you good advice to go to another provider for your pet's health. LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS CLINIC WOULDN'T THINK OF GOING ANYWHERE ELSE!! I recently called New Braunfels Veterinary Clinic about twenty minutes till closing on a weekday. I am fully aware that most vets are completely overwhelmed with many different pets and didn't mind being put on hold for so long at all. I believe that if an animal is in need and a customer has a few questions I should receive a little over the phone attention. Instead, I was asked over and over again about my last visit to their clinic and for my personal information. When the person over the phone finally pulled up my information her voice seemed to drop when she noticed I hadn't done business with them in awhile. I let her know what my cat's symptoms were and she immediately told me how busy the clinic was and how I should go to the Emergency Clinic in town and that they open at six. The person I dealt with may have just been following procedure, but honestly I felt as if I were just pushed aside. Read Less

I used another vet for 20 years and paid an arm and a leg for so-so care for my 4 dogs and 1 cat. A family member recommended NB Veterinary Clinic, so I drove the 26 miles to try them. I couldn't ask for better service from the front desk all the way through the payment process. I usually request Dr. Bjorn Doddy, he is a caring professional. He takes time to answer questions, gives very detailed exams and if there are any issues, you can tell he has the compassion as though it's his own pet. Dr. Pearson isn't a people person, but another awesome doctor for our little babies. Everything that is going to be done or that has been done is always explained in details as well and any questions are answered. I highly recommend this clinic to anyone who cares about there furry babies. Also, for the cost of pet care, this clinic cannot be beat and as said before, the price does not reflect the care given by the entire staff. Read Less

It sounds to me that there are a lot of people who seem to think they have more royal blood in them than others. New Braunfels Vet clinic has always been friendly, and courteous. They have taken very good care of our animals and have so for many years. They are the best priced vet in town because they have plenty of business and they don't overcharge you (unlike certain other vets). This vet is one where you get MORE than you pay for. ALL THOSE LOOKING for a NB vet, consider the comments carefully: How many of the comments are from people who went more than a couple of times?
