The people was VERY RUDE and treat me and my husband as if we weren't going to pay. When he left to get the check to pay while I stayed behind to see my dog, they told me not to leave until he gets back!!! I understand having to put so much on the bill when you do a payment plan but on top of wanting to have a CC on file, they wanted to put a charge on it. Then there was a lady that we overheard that came from Lubbock to have her dog looked at and even though she been there numerous times for the same issue, just because she didn't have her ID they refused to see her. What kind of place does that. ANIMAL LIVES MATTER TOO. Read Less

Our kitty was showing signs of heat stroke/exhaustion and we called ahead to notify. They took her back immediately and went to work on her straight away, keeping her overnight on iv fluids and a catheter monitor her. Saved her life. They showed great concern and care. The kennels were clean, all animals had cushy beds and blankets. There was no odor that can usually be associated with that many animals in one place. They took every precaution with each animal that came in to ensure that nothing was spread to other animals; even asking one poor woman to remain in the car with her Non-rabies vaccinated dog as he was excessivly drooling, not eating or drinking and having facial tics until they determined a course of action. Suspected parvo puppies were to be kept on the owner's lap or on puppy pads and the staff repeatedly disinfected all doors, pens, counters and floors to limit exposure to other dogs. They staff conducted checks on a few animals in the waiting area when the exam rooms were full to limit waiting times. If only human ER's were as efficient and caring. Read Less

Over the last 18 years, I've visited numerous veterinary clinics - from Mississippi to West Texas - and they were all decent, but the care provided to my pet by the staff at West Texas Emergency Veterinary Clinic cannot be rivaled. To begin with, the facility is exceptionally clean. To illustrate just how immaculate this facility is, I'll need to give you some background details first. I brought my dog, Spaz, in because he was viciously attacked by a neighbor's animal. Spaz had a massive chunk of flesh from his chest missing, and a few other gashes that were bleeding quite steadily. To be clear, my boy wasn't bleeding as if a major artery was severed; it was more like a very slow and steady nose-bleed. As Spaz paced back and forth, he'd drop blood. The more he moved, the more it'd drip. Spaz wasn't alone, either. There were at least 3 other dogs in the waiting area with similar problems. Every 10 minutes or so, a friendly staff member would walk by, sanitizing and cleaning the excreted body fluids. Another positive attribute of this facility is the fact that the waiting area is accommodating, large, and complimentary. When we arrived, we signed in, and sat at the first bench we encountered. As we sat there, we saw a few emergency animal cases, and more and more people bringing their loved ones in for emergency care. To say the least, this place certainly has the room to accommodate lots of bleeding dogs! In addition to the large, accommodating waiting area, the staff is very complimentary. They have bottled water and a variety of coffees, via Keurig, on hand. Not only do they offer free drinks, they offered my daughter coloring books to keep her occupied during this disturbing time (at least until my mother could come and watch her for me for a while). All emergency care, whether it's a human at the ER or a canine at an emergency vet clinic, is going to cost a bit more. With that said, there are always special circumstances where doctors and staff at such medical facilities do things to truly help out their patients and their communities. As I picked up my dog and paid my final bill, this place had me leaving in tears. Not the type of tears one has because of great loss (or the kind caused by pain and suffering); I had the best kind: tears of joy. I do not need to go into great details about the procedures my dog endured to illustrate the wonderful care he received. All that's necessary is this: he is an old dog who could have died from a severe infection he received from a vicious animal. He survived because of the care he received at the West Texas Emergency Veterinary Clinic, and I want the world to know how thankful I am for their contributions to our community. Read Less

We did not know about this vet until last night via google. We took our lab there shortly after midnight last night. Boyfriend and I both knowing this could be expensive. After seeing some lethargy and laziness from our very happy and hyper pup Sunday evening, we called around ((mind you he had an appointment Thursday)) which we explained he was not his normal self, not eating but drinking quite a bit, no vomiting or any other extras. We called a couple of emergency vets Sunday evening and they told us we could wait to see the Vet that travels to our town that he should be fine until then.... Which we banked on. Our baby got super sick Wednesday evening, and we went out for a bit and found him when we got home laying in his own feces, which was the FIRST time anything had come out of him. In a panic I had called and got the number to an emergency vet, who proceeded to tell me I could wait until morning (didn't know the vet we use had emergency care) I googled and found this place, let them know we were coming and they IMMEDIATELY came to aid our pup, gave us some estimates while they were loving on our sweet baby, while running some test. They did not pressure us in any sort of way, for the hospitalization and gave us several quotes and circumstances, and professional and personal opinions. I of course was a nervous wreck, crying my eyes out because I hate seeing my fur baby like that, he is family. The girls there let me know when they would be there, and that I could call any time all the time check on my pup ((which I have been, and they are great every time i call)) Me being the person I am normally, I do not trust anyone but my own vet. However, these ladies and the Dr there made me feel extremely comfortable, gave me several options, and we did what we felt was best for our pup, and we left him in their care. Which I was completely okay with. I'm not sure of the ladies names Taylor? Brenda? and another lady with long blonde hair and wears a cap, who absolutely did wonderful with our fur baby, and even though yes it was very expensive, but dogs are family, they are your children, YOU ARE THEIR CARE GIVERS! They are just like babies, things happen some things you plan for some things you don't. I'm now older and know the responsibilities of owning a pet, and sometimes it does get expensive, but you gotta do what you can for them because they depend on you, just like you did your parents when you were younger. DO NOT own a pet, if you do not care for their well being and life. Needless to say, this vet and its staff is amazing! If i have an emergency and my vet is out of reach, I will be going to them. ((WHICH)) they even gave me the option to care for my pup for 24 hours until I could transfer him from my regular vet. Which we didn't want to risk since he is an Hour from our home, and this place is about 25 min. Our baby is still in their care, and will update later. But so far, I am satisfied and feel very good about things. Thanks. Read Less

Very disappointed to hear of the disregard of my friend's injured dog. My friend brought her dog to the clinic with a huge open wound that obviously was in need of medical attention and stitches. The dog was sent away without being cared for and my friend was told basically that it was not an "emergency" situation. Incorugable behavior for a Dr. and a facility that is supposed to be dedicated to the care of animals. The dog was later treated by another Doctor.....because so much time had past it was much harder and more painful on the dog. The dog had to be sedated and received several stitches. Very sad. I went to West Texas Emergency Vet Clinic on Grandview yesterday. I had heard good things and recommendations from several. I had an old scarred warrior with me to see if there was anything to be done for my friend " Skin-n-Bones ". His condition had gotten worse quick in previous 24 hrs, So here we were. I had a niggling thought on the drive over that it could be my last ride with him. Someone abandoned him 2-3 ? Years ago and he just started showing up at Misfit Manor for feeding time. Had a bad limp, scruffy, first look at him grabbed my heart. After Dr Wills looked him over, she asked me what i wanted to do? Offered two options. We talked a bit, and I decided to play God once again. Worst 20 seconds in my life. I asked them if we could possibly go outside to do this so Skin-n-Bones could have the sun in his face. They graciously agreed. He was an outside cat as i knew him. He was great cat, loved being petted, held, . His previous owners dumped a real treasure when they left him. I have nothing but praise and good feelings for the staff there. I was blubbering fool, noone ever pressured me over anything. The building, waiting room were very nice, clean, and had great window views. They were all sensitive to what i was having /feeling. I made a great decision going there. I highly recommend this clinic and the staff.Read Less

This is my SECOND animal here that they did the same thing to! They said there was a way to help put our dog in a gas chamber told us to pick him up at 6 I called and they said THEY wanted to keep him overnight in the oxygen chamber and no fee would be for keeping him considering they had us pay $400 before we left for everything X-rays (understandable) medication (we had not yet been given) so we agreed for the best interest of our dogs health well I call SEVERAL times in the morning NO ONE can tell me anything but call back at 9 (I'd been calling since 7) we'll finally when we have someone speak to us they tell us they still don't want him to leave and that they want to do more and that they were already trying to bill us more. *Background on my dog he was a Pomeranian with a heart murmur and a bad collapsed trachea. We went in asking what was the best route for him to not suffer anymore since he had a horrible cough and can't breath* well anyways my husband goes up there and wants to speak to someone the receptionist was rude and kept wanting to handle the man behind my husband that was buying dog food which that man refused her help and continuesly declined it saying "No help him with his dog" so my husband decides we are taking our dog home. We take him to university small animal clinic the doctor comes in views him and says there's nothing they can do he has gotten bad Pomeranians are known to have collapsing trachea and he had to be put down but why couldn't they tell us the same thing? Our cat a year ago got sick and we took her there and they did oxygen chamber we spent $500 and got medication next day died.. i don't recommend them just because I don't think they're as honest as they could be about the health. I have taken both of my dogs to WT Emergency vet clinic. It's wonderful to have an after hours vet available for weekend and middle of the night emergencies. It's always clean, and the receptionist is very nice. But be prepared to wait. Just like an emergency room, they treat the sickest pets first. Average wait time for me has been two hours, and the waiting room was pretty empty. It's also more expensive than a regular vet, so if you don't have a true emergency, you might want to wait until your usual vet is open. I took my dog in, turns out he had a bad case of pancreatitis. I had been giving my dogs canned dog food twice a week as a treat-DON'T! I had no idea that the unhealthy, high fatty content would cause pancreatic irritation in my dog, and almost killed him. Now, for a treat, I cook them brown rice and skinless chicken breast.  It's much healthier than canned food and about the same cost.Anyway, the visit, stool test and blood test, two shots and three meds, ran me app. $500. The next day I went back, because he had refused fluids for 36 hours. I paid $70 for 200 ml of ringers-took less than five minutes. And, they won't sell you a bag (if you know how to do it yourself), no emergency vet here will. Just fyi: If your pet requires frequent saline/ringers, it's worth learning how to do it yourself. You can buy the 1000 ml solution bags, lines and needles for about $11 online.  Most vets will write you a prescription for it, just ask. So, this vet is my go-to for emergency care. They are expensive and wait times are long, so I only use them when it's an emergency. Read Less

my dog was a very happy & playful dog but she wasn't acting the same as she used to and our normal vet clinic was closed. so we took her here and they diagnosed her with parvo. and they said they think they caught it early enough to stop & cure it but, there was a lot of dogs with parvo & not enough room to place them. one day we. came in to visit her and we saw that her iv bag was empty. & she was looking worse than before. so my mom threw a huge fit well we all did who wouldnt? and the vet tech said there were alot of dogs with parvo and she forgot that she was in the seprate room. how do you forget about someones dog? & it had been empty for a while. anyways she was looking way worse than before and we got the vet to see if she had anything else. and sure enough she had distemper. my mom was p-i-s-s-e-d and we took her out of the emergency vet & stuck her in angel. unfortunately, it was too late to save her by then and we had to put her down. the bet at angel said there was no way she shouldve died. especially cause they caught it early. there is NO way i would ever recommend this vet unless its an emergency that literally can not wait.Read Less
