I was recommended by a friend of mine to this veterinarians office, and I am so glad I choose to take my 3-month-old pitbull puppy "Luna" there! The Dr noticed that Luna had a very prominent heart murmur and told me she needed to be seen by a veterinarian cardiologist as soon as I could get her a appt. for further testing Thank God, he noticed this because if not Luna would have never been diagnosed with severe Pulmonic Stenosis, & valvular moderate right ventricular hypertro...phy and I would have never known she needed to have a balloon valvuloplasty procedure done in order to be able to save her life! Also, I would like to mention that all the nurses and the other dr was very compassionate and they took the time to explain everything to me! As well as the receptionist Cynthia Bragg, was AWESOME! She was very kind and compassionate towards Luna and her "situation" and even offered to share her GoFundMe page that I made for Luna to try to raise the $ for her surgery! I scheduled a vet visit for 9 am last week and arrived, filled out paperwork and waited while the vet called back several people who arrived after me. At 9:30, 30 minutes after my appointment, they informed me that they had taken in several pets that did not have appointments ahead of me. Seeing as this is not an emergency clinic, I was very disappointed. I asked if they could take a quick look at the areas I was there to treat because I could not wait 2 hours for my visit and I had taken off work for this appointment. They said no. I will not be returning. I understand that there are emergencies, but seeing as how it is not an emergency clinic, I was very upset they wanted me to wait a few hours to see the vet. Took my dog to the emergency clinic and they sent us away with mess for a cough or dog flu. Something was not right so the next morning we came here and they listened to everything we were saying. After an X-ray, they found something stuck in her stomach and had to do surgery. It was a grocery bag and if we wouldn't have caught it when we did, she may not have made it much longer! I’ve seen several of the doctors here, but Dr. Lovell usually takes care of my smushy faced crew! The staff at Spencer seem to really care about my dogs. They always get us into the office in a timely manner and they are friendly and courteous. I never feel rushed and all of my questions are always answered. My dogs also get lots of love and treats! They are the kindest, most caring animal hospital have found in many years. I had to put my sweet dog Gigi to sleep to end her suffering. They were so kind and compassionate to my baby and to me. Amazing team of staff here. I had an appointment on Friday but once I noticed the condition was worse I called to see if could get my dog in that day. They didn't have any open appointment slots but that they said they could work her in around the other cases if I dropped her off. The staff was so so friendly on the phones and in person. I had to go back to work after I dropped her off but they said the physician would call once they were able to see my puppy dog. Sure enough... I got a very polite, informative phone call from the vet. She gave me different options and the associated costs. I didn't feel rushed on the phone and I felt very comfortable with the doctor's suggestions. She even said that I could even come pick her up after work if that worked best! Our dogs are like our kids in our house and I couldn't have had a better experience than with these guys! Love this place! I've taken my pet to other places before I came here, everywhere else, it seems like the workers are just there for a paycheck, could careless for you and much less your pet. At Spencer Animal, all the ladies up front are extremely nice, they all genuinely care about your pet and give great recommendations. The techs are also all really caring, they understand that as a pet parent you are not trained to hold your pet for shots/syringes, so they take them to the back where another trained professional assists and gets the job done. Expensive!! I dont make alot of money and i picked this vet because it was advertised as low cost. The vet kept pushing for my dog to get a dental cleaning and then said she would come back 2 types of cleaning and cost she wanted me to look over...i had set aside an hour and 1/2 but i had to get back to work... I was waiting and waiting and i kept knocking on the door and told them if i could please get my bill that i had to be somewhere and i would come back at another time.. I was waiting with my dig in the exam room and they told me the Doc is coming is almost done. Three times i knocked and finally i just opened the door, went to the front desk asked for my bill with agitation all over my face. Luckily the girl at the desk i could feel empathized with me...had her great customer service, unlike the others...i would have completely let the Vet have it when she came out to give me 2 prices $400 and $350 to fet my dogs teeth cleaned! When i saw the bill for my dogs annual checkup rabies heartworn and drops for some irritation in one ear it was OVER $400! But i just wanted to get out of there! Read Less

I am so thankful for this place! I've taken my puppy Nala here several times for checkups and other procedures. The receptionists and vet techs are friendly and helpful, and the vets themselves are wonderful. We've been here almost a year and my dog had an ear infection. Trying to find a good honest hospital is like playing Russian Roulette. But I got lucky on the first try. At least I think I did. Very friendly staff,  low office visit $55 and they do not push any services. Dr. Magnum is wonderful. He spent lots of time with me discussing testing, medication and expenses. The receptionists are great and worked me in on a day where they had no available appointments. I had to wait quite a while, because the doctor was running behind and because we didn't have a true appointment (which was totally understandable). The staff checked in on us frequently to let us know that they hadn't forgotten about us and to offer us water and snacks. The vet tech Estephani was so sweet to my sick puppy, and held him like a baby while I was paying my bill. Their prices are reasonable, and the service is excellent. I am especially grateful to Doctor Amanda Lovell and her assistant for the professionalism and compassion she showed during our time of illness and grief with our aged (in body, not mind) Rottweiler, Dolly. She and her staff made it a little easier to bare the brunt of that heart wrenching situation. From our first visit, Doctor Lovell was on the floor w Dolly talking to her like the baby she was, it was love at first site!I wouldn't trust my animals (ever again!) with any other Veterinary firm and was pleased to receive a personal call from Doctor Mangum yesterday after an a.m. Drop off for a work in. He was patient and answered all of my questions, after his thorough examination, even though he was the only Doctor in the office that day and very busy. I felt like he explored every avenue to access the problems we were experiencing and trusted his diagnoses'.The technicians in the office are always attentive and, according to Dr Magnum's professional opinion,"in absolute love" w my dogs! It's a good feeling to know that they are appreciated and loved when I am not there.This is the place that takes care of animals when no one is looking! They charge what is necessary and they don't keep a 12 year old dog on dialysis!! (Yes, that's why I left my last local Vet. My parents have used Dr. Mangum for our family pets since before I was born. I have continued to use them and trust them implicitly for the routine and emergency care of my pets. In March of 2015 my mini schnauzer ate some naproxen pills and began to go into kidney failure. I dropped him off at their office for evaluation thinking he just had a tummy ache, and was shocked to find out that it was so much more serious. This was on a Thursday, and they began immediate treatment with the hopes that he would pull through. They were cautiously optimistic for his recovery, and encouraged me and my children to visit him every day. On the Thursday he became ill they set up an exam room with a blanket so I could lay on the floor and snuggle him for over an hour. Each day they made sure we did not feel rushed and we had a comfortable place to visit with him. It was a very scary time for both my dog and my children. Drs. Borovik and Lovell called me any time of day or night with updates as they were available (per my request), and the weekend techs also called me with updates every time they checked on him to put my mind at ease. Thankfully he recovered and we couldn't be more grateful for the family type care we received from them. I also find the poor review puzzling. Read Less

My boxer was very sick and I took him to Spencer Animal Clinic. Found out he had cancer. Dr. Lovell and her staff couldn't have been nicer. They took us in right away without an appointment and treated us like family. Dr. Lovell called me several times herself to tell me what was going on and at the end made it as easy as it could possibly be. I am devastated about my loved pet but know in my heart he was at the best place he could have been in at the end of his life and couldn't have been with better people. I'm really intrigued by the negative experience another reviewer had, because I've been coming here with my dog for about a year now and I've always been treated respectfully. We chose here to put down our beloved border collie mix last year and it was one of the hardest things I've gone through and the main Doctor as well as the staff was very comforting.
