I have been bringing my furry family members here since 1998. No matter where I move in Austin, I always bring them to CTAH! I trust them to take top care of my babies and not to put them through procedures that they do not need, just to make money. They helped two of my babies transition to the other side. They helped me just as much. The team here has always been AMAZING! I have now take 1 cat and 3 dogs here. I have never regretted any procedure that we have had done here or any money I have spent here. I also love their t-shirt. :) Read Less

Giving this business even one star was difficult. First visit...I waited 30 minutes, and then they sent me to a room they had just sent another pet and then blamed that pet owner for going in there. (I heard them tell her to go to room 2) Told me I could wait another 20 minutes and they might get me in. Six (!) Receptionist/scheduling people standing behind the desk! Two of them came out to the waiting room to ask me the same questions. I'd love to say something wonderful about the vets...but who saw a vet??? Read Less

I love this vet clinic. The receptionists are always nice and helpful. I also love Dr. Ussery how she treats my dog. My dog is very fearful of the vet. I unsure why he is since I got him as a rescue dog. He wouldn't let any one of them touch him, it's like he knows he's there for a check up. However, Dr. Ussery tries her best to not aggravate him. I hope one day with training I can get Copper to trust Dr. Ussery and the techs. Read Less

My families vet has retired a few years back so we have just been using Emancipet for the flea/heartworm meds ever since because of how difficult it is to find a good vet. Well we adopted a 7 week old catahoula/border collie pup who got into the adult dog food and choked last night for a good few minutes, he got it out but started having a raspy, terrible sounding cough ever since. After calling around to other emergency vets in Pflugerville, I was directed to another competitor in Pville to come in and they would work me in. I got there with my raspy pup and the front desk barely acknowledged me. I stood there for 10 minutes when she finally said we will be with you in awhile. I processed her attitude and decided to walk out and call the next closest emergency vet clinic which thankfully was Central Texas Animal Hospital. Dr. Neans saw Blue Bear today and was just wonderful with explanations on what to watch for, future needs, ect. He and his team have a new family to care for. I will always bring my pets to this wonderful group of people. From the front office to the back office to the Doc, a well oiled machine I tell ya. THANK YOU! Read Less

Terrific experience, recently moved here. Have an 11 year old Standard Poodle who has my heart! As well as an adorable Mi-Ki 2 years old. I was so worried about finding a good Dr. and staff to take them, too. My son said, Mom you have to take them to Central Texas Animal Hospital here in Pflugerville. They are great. I Took his advice and I am so very happy. From my first visit, the ladies at the front desk were so kind and understanding. I really felt like they cared what was going on. When something is wrong with one of my babies its nice to have compassionate great you. Then the Dr's listen closely to what I am telling them, as they examine my little one they are talking to them, helping them feel as much at ease as possible. Everything is explained to me, from tests to medication. One visit the Drs, technician came in ( they are also so caring, knowledgeable and wonderful with my little ones) she explained to me that there had been an emergency and she wanted me to know they hadn't forgot me and did I mind waiting. Thoughtful. Then they call you at home to check on your Baby, Wow, I feel so blessed they take care of my little loves! Read Less

I cant' say enough great things about the entire staff at Central Texas Animal Hospital. They really treat my pets as if they were their own. I took my dog in for dental cleaning and expressed my concern about previous issues she had with anesthesia at a different vet. Dr Neans called me to review her medial history and discussed the different options for anesthesia drugs and made his recommendation. My sweet pup made it through the procedure with flying colors. I have the utmost confidence in this establishment and wouldn't take my pets anywhere else. Read Less

While the professionalism from the Vet and rationale was excellent. I was dismayed over the process. I booked an appointment online for my now 11 week old puppy for continuity of care in vaccinations. I provided all the information: how old she is, last set of vaccinations, her primary vet's name and PHONE NUMBER. I told them the reason for the appointment is that I could not make it up to Oklahoma for her next round of vaccinations in a timely manner. The appointment was booked, and there was no further information or questions. I provided all this information AHEAD OF TIME for the slight reason if there was any chance that my request could not be acquiesced. I drive to her appointment today, to only wait an additional 30 minutes for the Vet to tell me he would not do the vaccinations for another week. All of this could have been relayed by a simple telephone call and would have saved both the office and myself the time. As stated, completed understand and appreciate the Vet's honesty, but why give all the information for it not to be used to begin with? Read Less

The people that work there are kind, knowledgeable, friendly and compassionate. Many have been there for > 15 years! One kind, smart, amazing woman, Cathy, has been there for more than 25 years! They've seen us at the last minute, when they should have been closed, to name one of the many things they've done for us t/o the years. Can't say that for the "doc in the box" at the corner vet... My family has been going to this vet for twenty years, and after today they've all fully switched to Best Vet on Anderson Mill. I went in to get my dog groomed. That was it and I told them to muzzle him to be safe. I had to sign a form saying they could sedate him to make it easier for everyone. I was told "he would fall asleep and wake up groomed" and that was not at all the case. They called me and told me they had sedated him again without my permission and then I got worried because there are already risks involved with one dose of sedative. They also told me there was a one in a million chance of two doses not working, but it seems unlikely that my dog was the issue. They returned my dog to me not only covered in his own liquid and solid waste, but covered in his own vomit, blood and visibly battered. Then they charged me $150 for the sedative that they used that failed to work and there was nothing I could do, honestly I was so upset that my dog was going through this I just wanted him back. When I saw him in the cage with all the blood on his face I burst into tears. Basically, I paid $150 at the central Texas animal hospital in pflugerville to get my dog physically and emotionally traumatized.Read Less

Although I found Dr. Coleman to be very compassionate and informative about my 12 yr old dog's diagnosis, I was very dissatisfied with the clinic manager's attitude and the way she handled payment. It was taking an usually long time to drain fluid from my dog's abdomen and after I had paid the invoice, Michelle stated ""We didn't charge you enough. It's taking too long and too many staff members to get this done so we'll have to charge more next time."". My dog is in the end stages of liver failure. The last thing a grieving pet owner needs from the staff at a clinic is a crappy attitude and someone making them feel bad because it taking longer than normal to perform a procedure. It was past closing time on a Saturday and I felt as if she was being nasty to me because she couldnt close for the day. We have been patrons of CTAH for years and after our sweet lab passes away, we'll be looking for a new clinic. It's not always about the bottom dollar CTAH... It's about making your clients feel at ease and well taken care of, especially in times of grief. Read Less

If you read nothing else about this review, take from this that you should NEVER take your cat to be groomed at Central Texas Animal Hospital. I should start off by saying that I have been getting my cat groomed, with a lion cut, two times a summer for the past four years. Having moved to Texas this year, I needed to find a new groomer. I used citysearch and decided on Central Texas Animal Hospital based on all of the outstanding reviews. I have never received such poor quality of service for my cat. First off, he was terrified when I got him home (he has NEVER been like that after grooming). Secondly, his hair looked horrid. Truly horrible. The groomer, Janice, had cut-crookedly- all the way up to his head, leaving no fur for the mane (he now looks like a bobble head). His legs were all cut crooked with chunks of fur missing. There were also 15-20 nicks, where Janice had hit his skin with the shaver, along his back. His back legs were shaved down to the sensitive bones of his feet and he has had a hard time laying down even a day later. There were also chunks of fur all along his body that had been missed in the cut. I called and spoke to Janice the following day, and related all of this information to her. Her response was that she knew she had given him a bad cut, but it was also my cat's fault for getting upset. To quote her, ""you want a refund even though its not all my fault,? 'cause your cat is partly to blame."" Really? Now I don't know how old Janice is, but I assume she is a grown woman. An adult should not, in my opinion, blame her inability to do her job on a cat. I also called my cat's previous groomers who said that they would be willing to send a letter to the Central Texas Animal Hospital with my cat's perfect record of behavior on the multiple occasions that he was groomed at their facility. Janice only offered a 20 dollar refund of the 50 dollars I paid. So dissapointing. Meanwhile my cat looks like he cut his own hair and/or is diseased. NEVER take your cat here if you value your cash or the dignity and safety of your animal. Read Less

Everyone at CTAH is great! They're all caring and compassionate and really care about animals. I'm there often since I have 10 animals. I've been to all of the doctors, and they're all excellent. One unsung hero at CTAH is Janice, their groomer. She's worked there a long time and is very good at her job. My dog was groomed last week, and it made me stop to think that she needs a thank you. Her job can't be easy, dealing with dirty, stinky, matted (and some that absolutely don't want to be there) dogs and cats. Yet she does her job professionally and better than other groomers I've been to. I've taken a couple of my cats, long-haired and matted, for her to groom for the summer, sure they'd have to be sedated for her to shave. But no, she's done them without sedation and says she'd do them again, which I guess means they didn't go ballistic. And my little dog smelled so good and looked so beautiful when I picked him up last week. Thanks, Janice. Thanks to everyone at CTAH. You guys are like my second family. Read Less

CTAH is the best! I've brought my pet's there for years and I'm amazed at how I and my pets are ALWAYS given the ROYAL treatment. Every person I see working there is pleasant and professional and it's nice that they've all been around for so long (they've watched my son grow up.) They seem to love what they do and that makes all the difference in the world. They are busy, but can usually get us in when we call. I've been in the office when the waiting area is totally full and the staff keeps humming along - it's amazing. I (or my pets!) have seen each of the vets there and they've all been great. I was impressed after our most recent visit when the Dr's tech called me at home to see if ""Angel"" was improving and if I was able to give her pills without too much trouble. I recently went to this vet clinic on the recommendation of a colleague. My family recently moved here and have several pets. My older cat had been sick for a while and we'd been taking him to our vet in Dallas for kidney problems. He went downhill fast after our move. My wife and I knew that it was time to have him put to sleep. I've never had to do this before, so I wasn't sure how to go about it. I made the call to Central Texas Animal Hospital and the lady on the phone was so helpful - really professional and caring. She explained our options (cremation, etc) and scheduled our appointment. My wife and I met with Dr. Modak and he was so great with our cat. After examining him, he explained what would happen and assured us that we were doing the right thing. The receptionist had us fill out a form and let us pay our bill in the exam room (my wife was quite upset) so we didn't have to stand up front with other people coming and going. She also gave us some pointers to help our kids deal with the loss of their pet and offered to loan us some children's books. Everyone up there helped to make this unpleasant experience a little more bearable. I will definitely be bringing the rest of my pets there and I will recommend them to others. -David Read Less

Rest assured, there will always be someone who has a different opinion. However based on 19 years of experience with Dr. Neans, he is THE best. He has the amazing ability to accurately diagnose a problem with my dog in less than a minute without testing. His experience makes him superior. The staff: Cathy, Vicki, Michelle, to name a few, are also high caliber. It?s true the building is small and somewhat outdated. But if it?s the care of your animal that is the concern, this clinic is the best by any standard. I read a review complaining about the price of care involving Dr. Banks and her advise of continued care. Keep in mind, there are 2 sides to every story. Through the years I have spent many thousands of dollars at CTAH as I have multiple dogs, all rescued and with health issues. However, having said that, the usual cost of exam and any associated lab fees is by far less than any other vet. Since I moved out of Pflugerville I briefly researched going to a facility closer to my home. This idea was dismissed when I came to my senses! Admittedly though, I did compare prices and CTAH is approx. 20-25% less than others in terms of vaccinations, exams, lab, Xrays and dentals. These people care about animals and are competent which, in my opinion, trumps all. I will be really sad when the day comes that Dr Neans retires, however he has set the expectation on the care delivered at his clinic. ?Debbie H Read Less

my dog was ill, so I took her into the vet and DR BANKS saw her and said that it was an infected tooth, and gave her some pain meds and antibiotics to hold her over until we can get her tooth fix, we had brought in our own xrays of my dog so she could see them, and she suggested that we pay $60 to have a radiologist review them to see if there is anything she was missing. so then I realize that she only gave me 4 days worth of pain pills for my dog, I thought this was a mistake so I call up there and was told I need to buy 4 more pills at $22 ( and they are only 1/2 pills, so 2 full pills $22, crazy, but I paid it) so then I set her for her blod work and teeth cleaning on Monday, I can see that her tooth is really bothering her so I try to get her in on Friday, but they could not do it, but they could do her blod work , I said I was going to try to find a vet that could do both at the same day because my dog gets very stresses going to the vet. So I did find a dr that could do both, and i take her in for her blod work,(which all came back normal) and they could not do her teeth until later in the afternoon, so I brought my dog home until she could be seen so she was not stressed out. So then the vet that could see my dog calls CENTRAL TEXAS ANIMAL HOSPITAL to get the records from DR BANKS. And DR BANKS tells the new vet that NO she recommends that I go see a specialists and not to do my dogs teeth. KEEP IN MIND DR BANKS HAD ALREADY SET AN APP FOR MY DOGS TEETH TO GET DONE BY HER THE SAME MORNING!!! so now its Fri. afternoon, my dog is still in pain because DR BANKS is so greedy that she would rather my dog go untreated then to a different vet!! NEVER AGAIN WILL I GO TO THIS DR!!!! Read Less

Read Less

Being a senior citizen on a fixed income, I called several vets to get their charges on vaccinations for my two little dogs. I chose this clinic because they appeared to be reasonable in their charges. However, when I went in to pick up my dogs, the charges were double the amount quoted to me on the phone. They added additional services that was not quoted on the telephone when I called them for prices on standard vaccinations. What choice did I have but to pay the bill and take my babies home. I had also requested estimates on teeth cleaning and cherry eye surgery and I found the estimate to be way out of my price range. I will not use this clinic again because they did not give me the correct quotes and I found their prices to high for me to pay. Read Less

my dog was ill, so I took her into the vet and DR BANKS saw her and said that it was an infected tooth, and gave her some pain meds and antibiotics to hold her over until we can get her tooth fix, we had brought in our own xrays of my dog so she could see them, and she suggested that we pay $60 to have a radiologist review them to see if there is anything she was missing. so then I realize that she only gave me 4 days worth of pain pills for my dog, I thought this was a mistake so I call up there and was told I need to buy 4 more pills at $22 ( and they are only 1/2 pills, so 2 full pills $22, crazy, but I paid it) so then I set her for her blod work and teeth cleaning on Monday, I can see that her tooth is really bothering her so I try to get her in on Friday, but they could not do it, but they could do her blod work , I said I was going to try to find a vet that could do both at the same day because my dog gets very stresses going to the vet. Read Less
