If you're in search of a vet in Austin, look no further! I have never had such an awesome experience at a vet before. My bunny Izzy recently got sick (the beginning stages of GI Stasis), so I had to quickly find a vet in the Austin area that treats rabbits. When I called White Rock, they said they were fully booked with appointments, but they would make room for us due to the urgency (which I so appreciated). Dr. Riggan is the only board certified vet in Texas to treat rabbits, and I was extremely impressed with everything he did. From bedside manner to the execution of the procedures, he and his staff did a fantastic job. The vet tech Tina was absolutely wonderful as well. Both she and Dr. Riggan explained everything to me thoroughly and asked my permission before they proceeded with anything. The transparency with pricing was something I hadn't seen before at a vet and they even provided us with an itemized list of prices and treatments without me having to ask for it. Dr. Riggan really took the time to make sure we knew what was going on - even showing us the X-ray and pointing out the problem spots. Tina was sweet enough to assist me and answer all of my questions, even though they were so busy! I 10/10 will be recommending all of my friends to go here! This vet clinic is a little on the expensive side, but they go above and beyond when it comes to the care for your pets. They treat your pets like like their own extension of the family. The staff here cares very deeply. About a year ago one of our ferrets fell ill. We took the little guy in and was diagnosed with cancer. We decided to do the humane thing and let him go. It was very difficult for us. However, they offered a memorial package. At the time, we had no idea what to expect. The memorial package, though a bit pricey, ended up well worth it. Our little ferret will love on in our hearts, our memories, and now the memorial items including a personally signed card from all the staff at White Rock Vet Hospital. I had a mini-emergency with my dog, and wasn't able to get him in to see his regular vet so I contacted White Rock Veterinary Hospital about an hour before they were supposed to close. They took information about the situation and asked me to bring him in ASAP so they could work him in. Once we arrived we were worked in fairly quickly and the front desk staff were really friendly. The person who took us back (tech?) was kind and informative, and the vet really took her time to talk about the issue, examine my dog, and discuss treatment options. All staff we interacted with were warm, patient and kind - despite the fact that our presence was prolonging their work day. I'd bring my dog back here any day. Read Less

At the time our little dog Ace had his annual exam, they recommended a dental cleaning so I made an appointment to get that done while I was there. At that time, they provided an estimated cost for the cleaning.Three days before the dental cleaning appointment, I received an email reminder about the appointment. Attached to the email was another estimate ... which I found to be twice the cost of the original estimate. So I called their office and asked about the discrepancy. The office person stated that part of the increase was a couple of needed x-rays for my dog's hip that was not on the original estimate but was discussed during the annual exam. Since I wanted the x-rays completed, I had no problem with that. However, there were other discrepancies such as charges for blood work which had just been done at the time of the annual exam and also a 20% discount somehow disappeared off the estimate. She promised those discrepancies would be taken care of before I walked in the door.So appointment day comes and I arrive to drop-off Ace. An assistant brings me in the back and proceeds to show me another version of the estimate. The cost of the blood work was removed but the 20% discount was not on the estimate. Then she points to the "fine print" that says that the 20% discount is only given if the dental cleaning was done within 30 days of the annual exam. Since it was past 30 days, the 20% discount did not apply. I asked her why they put the 20% discount on the original estimate in the first place since I scheduled the dental cleaning at the time of the annual exam ... and the dental appointment was more than 30 days from the exam ... and also asked why no one ever mentioned the time limitation.She just said that she couldn't do anything about it and said that she would see what she could do. She then leaves the exam room and returns a few minutes later with the same position, so obviously her superior had the same response. So I told her that I obviously didn't read the fine print so I guess they pulled one over on me. She responded that, if I wanted the 20% discount, I could wait and get it done after the next exam.I decided that was a good idea ... and that is exactly what we will do ... at another vet. Ace and I walked out the door.Now I read a few other reviews about pricing shenanigans ... and I notice that their rating trend is decreasing ... so it looks like something has happened to this clinic's ability to provide good service.UPDATE #1: I received an email from Dr Todd Riggan about my experience. He tries to apologize, but then he writes, "... I wished you would have given us a chance to solve the problem before leaving the clinic." I found that statement to be beyond the pale. I mean, good grief, what else was I supposed to do? Two people had already made their position quite clear. He tries to make it my issue for leaving. Was I supposed to camp out there all day while they considered their options? Wondering minds want to know!UPDATE #2: At the same time that their Business Manager, Tammy R., posted the response to my Yelp review (below), I received another email from Dr Riggan. In it, he says, "I have been able to locate video of the interaction and it was definitely not handled the way that I want it to be. It seems you are very angry and I understand that from viewing the interaction. I was originally given conflicting information and am still using this situation as a teaching moment. ...Obviously, we fell short with you and for that I am sorry."Can you see the issue here? The email from Dr Riggan does not match in any way the response from their Business Manager. The Business Manager seems to be conveying that I am the issue. So, either the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing ... or they are privately telling me one thing and publicly conveying something else. Either way, I am not impressed. Also, apparently they have hidden video in their exam rooms. I was not aware of that at all. While I appreciate that the video confirmed my position on the matter, I am shocked. Good grief. This is hands down THE BEST veterinary in town. Dr. Lempert is especially a dream. I've taken both of my dogs there and they have done superb care. They are alway up front about pricing and never pressure. One of our dogs got ill and Dr. Lempert called everyday to see how she was doing. We eventually had to put her down and the tenderness given to us and our furry family member was astounding. When we went to pick up her ashes, there was a signed note from every staff member with words of condolences and kindness. I will never go to another vet. They have my business for life. Read Less

I just recently moved here from Ohio and had adopted a cat from Williamson county animal shelter. They handed me a stack of medical records with him and the only instructions I received were to give him wet food. I noticed he had some issues using the bathroom so I took him to multiple places. All of those places dismissed my concerns and questions and refused to look over his medical history. Needless to say I was sent home. When I came here the staff to the time to look over his records, listen to my concerns and took the time to explain what everything meant and did some blood work. The results were that he had extremely high blood pressure and stage two kidney disease. None of which would have been detected had I not gone here. So a huge thank you to Dr. Miller and her staff! I won't ever be going anywhere else. They work the best treatment plan for you around your finances and are all over amazing!! Read Less

We brought our 6 year old English Bulldog in for some shots & dental work and they were absolutely amazing! They called me throughout the day & kept me updated on his condition. When I picked him up they took the time to sit with me and go over the medications & answered all the questions I had. He came out a very happy dog & his teeth were so white and looked so healthy. It was so worth it! I am very impressed and happy with the patient care at White Rock Vet Clinic! Read Less

We have been having issues with our past vet of 10 years who basically said I don't know the meds the ER put your dog on so goodbye. I called White Rock. I wish there was more than 5 stars to give them. The love and care that the staff and Dr Riggens gave to our Lily is over and beyond what I have ever had. They got her on track with some better meds, found she had a ear infection and are watching other things for us. We receive calls confirming appointments and follow ups to see how she is. Where to begin... Dr. Riggan was recommended to us by The Austin Guinea Pig Rescue, where we adopted our beloved Diego, when we needed a second opinion about his wayward teeth. We did everything thing we could to prevent it, but our piglet needed dental surgery. Sounds easy, right? Guinea pigs are always tricky, even when they are young and robust. Things get trickier when you don't know how old your piglet is, three years after you adopted him. From the first appointment, I knew Diego was in capable and knowledgeable hands. On surgery day, things were going well until they went horribly wrong. Dr. Riggan (and techs! so sorry I can't recall your names; I'm still exhausted and in a state.) brought Diego back to life after he crashed. Hard. Twice. I can't fully comprehend the lengths they went through to bring our fella back to us but I know I'm forever grateful. I also know that it is because of Dr. Riggan's (and techs'!) amazing skills, observations, and concern, that Diego is still with us. I'm teary-eyed as I write this (Diego is chomping on salad.) Oh, and if you're like me, and call way too often for updates, the folks at the front desk are always so helpful and polite. I know our little Pomeranian is up in age but still has a lot of life Dr. Miller talked right to the point of what could happen but tried medicine first seemed to work for now but we know what is still going on. Thank you Dr. Miller for making her last days easier our beloved pet and part of our family passed away on 12-17-16 two days after seeing you she went peacefully. Read Less

I love all the Vets and staff at White Rock Veterinary Hospital! I have two dogs who have several chronic medical issues. The Vets and staff are great at getting me in quickly for appointments, refilling prescriptions quickly, and providing top notch Vet. services. Whenever our dogs have been sick, White Rock Vet. has been able to get them an appointment quickly and the doctors are great healers. Recently, my dog came down with an infection while I was out of town. She's had this infection before, and White Rock Vet quickly called in an antibiotic prescription, which my pet sitter could pick up. I came home to a happy, healthy dog. We've been coming here since we moved to Pflugerville. We brought our rottie here. The staff is always so kind and they really got to know our dog and her personality. Unfortunately, we had to put her to rest and again the staff was so kind and supportive through it. We got a puppy about a month ago and she ate our rotties meds and dr.miller hadn't yet seen her but still had us bring her in to evaluate her and get her taken care of without an appointment. I've been takin my rabbits here for over 10 years. Won't take them anywhere else. Dr Riggan and Dr Miller are the most thorough and educated about rabbits with more concern then ever expected or imaginable. They have the best vet techs and knowledgable office staff too!! My Rabbit Emma and I started in the UK, traveled to Southern California and ended up in Austin. I suspect Emma in the worlds most traveled rabbit. She is also very dear to me. 18 months ago Emma has having some major teeth issues. Dr Riggan has performed numerous operations on Emma, and after a rough year for her she has come through it all as happy and feisty as ever. The whole team have been fantastic and it's very obvious they love all the animals that come through the door. I will say I've always got the impression our Emma had a special place in their hearts though. Emma is an old lady these days but I feel safe that the rest of her life she will be well cared for by Todd's team. Their office is a significant distance from my home but there is no question about me taking her anywhere else. Rabbits are often considered as exotic and unknown to most Vets. Todd and his whole team are experts, and it shows in everything they do. Read Less

We really liked our vet and the staff at White Rock Vet but they charged us a very outlandish price to clean our dogs teeth then advising a few teeth needed extraction. We were absolutely infuriated at the excessive charge. We checked with other vets in the area for their price to perform the same service and the prices we were given were 20% to 50% of the price White Rock charged. Our dog was already under the influence of anesthesia when we learned the price would be double to do what they thought needed to be done so we felt like we were somewhat hijacked.
