They misdiagnosed my cat, now he is dead!
I normally don't write reviews because people get different experiences each time they go into the office. But I feel I need to let people know what happened to me so that it won't happen to them. I took my cat in to see the vet and they misdiagnosed him with IBD (he had FIV), Instead of telling me that their machines had not been fixed or cleaned in a while or sending me elsewhere to get these tests done. The Vet just gave my cat the diagnosis of IBD and she started treating him for it. I spent hundreds of dollars on treating him for this. It was not until I got a second opinion that this second veterinarian told me
He was concerned that the tests that were sent over had a lot of stars on the results. Indicating that they were errors and the machine needed maintenance.
But I continued giving him the recommended medication for the first diagnosis. He was not getting any better with all the medication they put him on, so he did a three day stay at Parker Animal and Bird Clinic and they said he was doing better and sent him home. We continued the treatment and medicine for IBD for months but I noticed he was continuously biting his nails and not chewing his food properly. So, I made an appointment for Friday. I took him in, they gave him medication and told me to keep giving him the medication he is on. Come Saturday he started getting worse.Then Monday I took him to The emergency animal clinic because no one had any appointments open. When the Emergency Clinic saw him, they were worried because he looked really bad, he was skin and bones. They ran the same test that Parker Animal and Bird Clinic had and immediately diagnosed him with FIV not IBD. They said the most humane thing I could do is to put him to sleep. He was too far gone and nothing I could do to take his pain away at this stage. Honestly this place is the worst place to take your baby to. Our pets are our children and the last thing you want is to take them to a doctor who is not going to do their best to treat them.

I thought my 14 year old Boston Terrier was dying! I took her in to Dr. Whetstone , and it turned out to be a bulging disc. The Dr. said she was in excellent health for a 14 year old dog, and gave me three RX, and all of that, with the Dr. visit, was only 83.00!! Plus, I can call in anytime, and the Dr. Will call me back herself to talk to me. I wouldn't take my pets anywhere else!! BEST VET IN PLANO!!!

I just want to take the time to thank Dr. Fran for everything she did for us. I took my 13 year old pup in for blood work because of his age and when we found out that he had kidney issues, it was heartbreaking. She recommended care for him and we did it however, he didn’t quite respond to it as much as we hoped he would and we had to part ways. But the level of care and love for your pet that she has is second to none. Thank you for taking such good care of our boy.

My husband and I were looking for a vet that sees birds, and there is a vet here that does! He was very good with our birds and informed us about how to properly care for them. If we need to bring them to a vet again, we would definitely bring them here! The staff here overall is very nice. The place does feel kind of small; we had to make sure our birds were kept secure and didn't get freaked out from all the dogs near them.

We had an Axolotl and it unfortunately passed away while we were at the clinic. They showed tremendous sympathy and kindness while my boyfriend and I bawled our eyes out from grief. We only checked our mail today due to moving to a new place and noticed they sent us a card signed by everyone there. It was a small, yet sweet gesture. It was our first visit there, but won’t be our last since we’ll soon bring our new pet cat in!

I was very pleased with Brian, the vet tech who took care of my very nervous Weimaraner with such confidence and ease. After being referred to Parker Animal & Bird Clinic, I came hoping to get Abby's nails clipped. Brian and his team delivered! They took great care of Abby...even through her panic attack... Brian then proceeded to give me tips on how to reduce her anxiety for her next visit. Very impressed with him. I gave 4 stars, however, for the behavior of some of the desk staff and the very "cold" reception I received. Brian is the only reason I will return.

All the veterinarians at Parker Road are wonderful, but I want to send a special thanks to Dr. Fran! She took great care of our 12 yo mini dachshund after she swallowed a kid’s toy with batteries. Dr. Fran performed the surgery and kept us closely updated over the 2 days she stayed in their care. She even provided her cell number so we could call or text her. Her bedside manner is second to none. She immediately put our mind at ease and we felt she made every recommendation based solely on concern for our dog.
I feel like it’s important to mention that this happened to our dog on a Saturday so we took her to a vet clinic with extended hours (not emergency) and they told us it would be $2900 to operate (which they couldn’t do until Monday, again this was Saturday). They also told us we could take her to an emergency clinic but the price would likely be double. There is a fine line between explaining the risks and scaring you into a panic. Not feeling entirely comfortable with the care and recommendations we opted to watch her closely and visit our regular vet (Parker Rd) on Monday. Dr Fran did an X-ray, extensive blood work (due to her age), and exam - in addition to surgery and 2 days of care for $600.
The staff and prices are unbeatable. You can trust them. If you call and they place you on hold (sometimes for longer than you like) it’s because they are managing a lot in the clinic. It’s worth the wait.

My vet was so kind when she put my dog to sleep. Even talked my aunt into going there the following week to put her baby to sleep. The place is always busy because their pricing is very good. Most of the vets are great. The only negative is some of the help at the desk are too lackadaisical. They automatically answer the phone to put you on hold. I have waited for over 10 minutes before they pick back up. So I assumed as usual it was because of how busy they usually are. But I have personally watched some of them answer....ask the person if they can be put on hold only to either relax by sitting down or just wander around behind the desk. Courtesy goes a long way with most everyone but to actually watch why your put on hold is very disconcerning. But that's not to say it's everyone's behavior. The staff really tries to be kind.

A very respectable, honest and classy group of veterinarians and support staff. I make the drive from downtown because these are the very best in their field. No lies, no unnecessary tests or hidden fees. They really care about you and your animals and aren't more concerned with trying to get as much out of your wallet as they can like the CityVet chain does. They won me over years ago, they'll do the same for you!

I stayed in there for over 2 hours and decided to leave, they did nothing for my dog and I had to give them 70.00. I have never seen such a crazy place.

Get an appointment first, the walk-in wait was about 1 hour. When we were seen, the Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable and addressed our issues quickly. This is now our family vet.

Doctors and staff are great. If you go during appointment hours it is rarely crowded. They have walk in hours daily and every other Saturday is low cost vaccines. The front desk staff are amazing.

Foremost I want to say Thank you to all the wonderful caring veterinarians and great tech staff we have met @Parker Animal and Bird over the last 10+yrs you are by far the best animal clinic we found since moving here. They're reasonably priced but their care is unmatched and could never think of bringing these guys anywhere else, they understand that that these guys are your babies. We were lucky to find such a great place and since finding Parker drive almost 50m for these guys so my babies are able to see them. The treatment given by their vet Dr. Whetstone and everybody else @Parker is by far the best anyone could ever ask for they are passionate, caring and gentle . Thank you

We have taken our wire hair terriers here (four of them we have owned over last 28 years) and could not ask for more attentive, caring, (and affordable) professionals. Dr Blonion is amazing. One we had to 'put down' at the clinic as she was almost 17 and had liver cancer and they never even charged us for the shot. Another passed after developing sudden onset immune disorder - they did everything they could but the pup could not be saved. They have always treated us and our dogs with so much love and respect.

If your bird ever gets a tumor, and needs it removed, go see Dr. Blonien. My parakeet had a fast growing tumor on his foot; it starting growing in June. When I first noticed it, I took him to a vet near where I live. I was given doom and gloom information that really scared me. I was told surgery would be needed but that my little one would more than likely not survive. I was told if he did survive, he would need a small cone so he wouldn't pick at the stitches. I was in tears and decides to let nature take its course. By Monday of last week, the tumor had grown, it was bleeding off and on and my bird was picking at it. I decided it was time for a second opinion. I decided to go to Parker Animal and Bird clinic because I took my birds there before we moved. Longer story short, Dr. Blonien gave me great hope and my bird had surgery a week ago today! Yesterday he had a follow-up appointment and all went very well! The tumor is gone and my parakeet is happy once again. My sanity and my birds happiness were restored and I am very thankful!

They totally took care of my seriously sick little kitten after I adopted him several days ago. They are so kind and loving to every animal and owner that I've seen come in their office. I had been turned away from several other vet clinics in the area and I thought my kitten had no chance at life. They took my kitten in and treated him for several days at an amazing price. They also called me every single morning to update me on how he was recovering. I am so blessed to have found this place and to him home!

Took my 16 yo kitty here for the first time last week. She hasnt been to a vet since i moved here in 2010, and hasn't been sick since she was ~2!! I was very worried about her...and nervous about how much it was going to cost. I was so impressed with Dr. Fran (Hoffpauir). She was so compassionate and when I expressed my budget concerns, she was very understanding and seemed ernest in wanting to make sure we stayed within those limits if at all possible. Throughout the visit she patiently explained each option /test/cost first so I could make good decisions about what to do now and what to wait on. In the end, she made sure Abby was well taken care of, and I stayed well within my $$constraints. The bill came out JUST a shade under, which makes me wonder if she knocked anything off to do so! I still need to take Abby back to learn how to do sub cutaneous fluids...and learned they won't even be charging for that visit! Just a note...the waiting room was almost empty when we got there, and completely full when we left. With almost all dogs. If you've got a cat that might be traumatized by that, you may want to ask when' s the best tim of day to come.

Vets have compassion and concern for animals, and that's something that you will NOT find here. Nope. Just monsters. Good luck getting the office manager to return phone calls. She would rather pass concerns off to the front office staff, who are less then professional and have them deal with an upset pet parent themselves. I would NOT Recommend this office for any veterinary services or care.

Years ago, we had a hamster with some sort of auto-immune GI problem. After a couple visits, PBAC told us that we needed to keep bringing the hamster in, but that we would no longer be charged. They felt that we had reached a point of experimentation on treatment -- and they didn't want to charge for that.
They did send samples out for a secondary opinion, and offered to refer us to the vet school.
I was very impressed to the care and concern they put into a hamster.
They are also one of the few places that will treat chickens.

My husband and I were looking for a vet that sees birds, and there is a vet here that does! He was very good with our birds and informed us about how to properly care for them. If we need to bring them to a vet again, we would definitely bring them here! The staff here overall is very nice. The place does feel kind of small; we had to make sure our birds were kept secure and didn't get freaked out from all the dogs near them.

We had an Axolotl and it unfortunately passed away while we were at the clinic. They showed tremendous sympathy and kindness while my boyfriend and I bawled our eyes out from grief. We only checked our mail today due to moving to a new place and noticed they sent us a card signed by everyone there. It was a small, yet sweet gesture. It was our first visit there, but won’t be our last since we’ll soon bring our new pet cat in!

I was very pleased with Brian, the vet tech who took care of my very nervous Weimaraner with such confidence and ease. After being referred to Parker Animal & Bird Clinic, I came hoping to get Abby's nails clipped. Brian and his team delivered! They took great care of Abby...even through her panic attack... Brian then proceeded to give me tips on how to reduce her anxiety for her next visit. Very impressed with him. I gave 4 stars, however, for the behavior of some of the desk staff and the very "cold" reception I received. Brian is the only reason I will return.

All the veterinarians at Parker Road are wonderful, but I want to send a special thanks to Dr. Fran! She took great care of our 12 yo mini dachshund after she swallowed a kid’s toy with batteries. Dr. Fran performed the surgery and kept us closely updated over the 2 days she stayed in their care. She even provided her cell number so we could call or text her. Her bedside manner is second to none. She immediately put our mind at ease and we felt she made every recommendation based solely on concern for our dog.
I feel like it’s important to mention that this happened to our dog on a Saturday so we took her to a vet clinic with extended hours (not emergency) and they told us it would be $2900 to operate (which they couldn’t do until Monday, again this was Saturday). They also told us we could take her to an emergency clinic but the price would likely be double. There is a fine line between explaining the risks and scaring you into a panic. Not feeling entirely comfortable with the care and recommendations we opted to watch her closely and visit our regular vet (Parker Rd) on Monday. Dr Fran did an X-ray, extensive blood work (due to her age), and exam - in addition to surgery and 2 days of care for $600.
The staff and prices are unbeatable. You can trust them. If you call and they place you on hold (sometimes for longer than you like) it’s because they are managing a lot in the clinic. It’s worth the wait.

My vet was so kind when she put my dog to sleep. Even talked my aunt into going there the following week to put her baby to sleep. The place is always busy because their pricing is very good. Most of the vets are great. The only negative is some of the help at the desk are too lackadaisical. They automatically answer the phone to put you on hold. I have waited for over 10 minutes before they pick back up. So I assumed as usual it was because of how busy they usually are. But I have personally watched some of them answer....ask the person if they can be put on hold only to either relax by sitting down or just wander around behind the desk. Courtesy goes a long way with most everyone but to actually watch why your put on hold is very disconcerning. But that's not to say it's everyone's behavior. The staff really tries to be kind.

I stayed in there for over 2 hours and decided to leave, they did nothing for my dog and I had to give them 70.00. I have never seen such a crazy place.

Get an appointment first, the walk-in wait was about 1 hour. When we were seen, the Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable and addressed our issues quickly. This is now our family vet.

Doctors and staff are great. If you go during appointment hours it is rarely crowded. They have walk in hours daily and every other Saturday is low cost vaccines. The front desk staff are amazing.

Foremost I want to say Thank you to all the wonderful caring veterinarians and great tech staff we have met @Parker Animal and Bird over the last 10+yrs you are by far the best animal clinic we found since moving here. They're reasonably priced but their care is unmatched and could never think of bringing these guys anywhere else, they understand that that these guys are your babies. We were lucky to find such a great place and since finding Parker drive almost 50m for these guys so my babies are able to see them. The treatment given by their vet Dr. Whetstone and everybody else @Parker is by far the best anyone could ever ask for they are passionate, caring and gentle . Thank you

We have taken our wire hair terriers here (four of them we have owned over last 28 years) and could not ask for more attentive, caring, (and affordable) professionals. Dr Blonion is amazing. One we had to 'put down' at the clinic as she was almost 17 and had liver cancer and they never even charged us for the shot. Another passed after developing sudden onset immune disorder - they did everything they could but the pup could not be saved. They have always treated us and our dogs with so much love and respect.

We got our first puppy last night and he started feeling bad and throwing up. I was so worried! One of my best friends, Tammie Walter who has used this same clinic since 1990 referred me. I took our puppy in after calling and the staff was great! Our puppy (Dez) was given a nausea/vomiting shot and they said if he doesn't get sick in 24 hours he will be good. Next up puppy shots!!!

If your bird ever gets a tumor, and needs it removed, go see Dr. Blonien. My parakeet had a fast growing tumor on his foot; it starting growing in June. When I first noticed it, I took him to a vet near where I live. I was given doom and gloom information that really scared me. I was told surgery would be needed but that my little one would more than likely not survive. I was told if he did survive, he would need a small cone so he wouldn't pick at the stitches. I was in tears and decides to let nature take its course. By Monday of last week, the tumor had grown, it was bleeding off and on and my bird was picking at it. I decided it was time for a second opinion. I decided to go to Parker Animal and Bird clinic because I took my birds there before we moved. Longer story short, Dr. Blonien gave me great hope and my bird had surgery a week ago today! Yesterday he had a follow-up appointment and all went very well! The tumor is gone and my parakeet is happy once again. My sanity and my birds happiness were restored and I am very thankful!

They totally took care of my seriously sick little kitten after I adopted him several days ago. They are so kind and loving to every animal and owner that I've seen come in their office. I had been turned away from several other vet clinics in the area and I thought my kitten had no chance at life. They took my kitten in and treated him for several days at an amazing price. They also called me every single morning to update me on how he was recovering. I am so blessed to have found this place and to him home!

Took my 16 yo kitty here for the first time last week. She hasnt been to a vet since i moved here in 2010, and hasn't been sick since she was ~2!! I was very worried about her...and nervous about how much it was going to cost. I was so impressed with Dr. Fran (Hoffpauir). She was so compassionate and when I expressed my budget concerns, she was very understanding and seemed ernest in wanting to make sure we stayed within those limits if at all possible. Throughout the visit she patiently explained each option /test/cost first so I could make good decisions about what to do now and what to wait on. In the end, she made sure Abby was well taken care of, and I stayed well within my $$constraints. The bill came out JUST a shade under, which makes me wonder if she knocked anything off to do so! I still need to take Abby back to learn how to do sub cutaneous fluids...and learned they won't even be charging for that visit! Just a note...the waiting room was almost empty when we got there, and completely full when we left. With almost all dogs. If you've got a cat that might be traumatized by that, you may want to ask when' s the best tim of day to come.

I can not say enough great things about Dr. Thedford. I fully trust each of my animals with her. She has gone above and beyond time over the years. She of course is greats with the dogs but does amazing with exotics, and she is the only one I trust with my ferrets. Even after we moved 45 minutes away we still keep going back to Parker Animal.

Vets have compassion and concern for animals, and that's something that you will NOT find here. Nope. Just monsters. Good luck getting the office manager to return phone calls. She would rather pass concerns off to the front office staff, who are less then professional and have them deal with an upset pet parent themselves. I would NOT Recommend this office for any veterinary services or care.

Years ago, we had a hamster with some sort of auto-immune GI problem. After a couple visits, PBAC told us that we needed to keep bringing the hamster in, but that we would no longer be charged. They felt that we had reached a point of experimentation on treatment -- and they didn't want to charge for that.
They did send samples out for a secondary opinion, and offered to refer us to the vet school.
I was very impressed to the care and concern they put into a hamster.
They are also one of the few places that will treat chickens.

As always, Parker animal and bird clinic is the greatest. Dr. whetstone is an amazing caregiver. Her patients are her family. I am in awe over her love and dedication to the pets and animals.
