We have had to use Medvet twice now. They have been outstanding both times. While the prices are a little high, but that is to be expected for 24 hr emergency care. They have saved both of our dogs lives. The first was from a very bad bite and the second was a sever allergic reaction. Thank you so much Medvet. Read Less

What a horrible experience, we took our 16 year old cat in to be put down, he's won't eat weighs 5 pounds and is clearly suffering. The vet would not do as we requested and instead played upon our emotions to pressure us to have expensive blood work done which may or may not provide answers to his weight loss. Further more they suggested we purchase an appetite enhancement for $177 that would last for 24 hours. The experience lasted for over 2 hours and was emotionally very painful. The end result was we left and spend $98 for them to do nothing but put us through a guilt trip and inflict emotional suffering. What a horrible place and experience. NEVER EVER AGAIN. Read Less

Just took my dog to this place. The whole experience was terrible. My little dog, a bichon frise, almost 20 years of age, was crying and in pain. When I took her to the emergency they did nothing to calm her down. Why do they call an emergency if they won’t do nothing? Doctor Hillary Hellstern didn’t even examine her and was saying that there was not a lot they cold do( wanted to put her down) other than take her blood and others bs. It costed $90 for nothing!!! I took my dog back with me and will take her to a real vet tomorrow. Even tho she’s still not feeling well, I would rather do that than let my dog with them. This place is horrible, don’t ever take your pet there. Read Less

My dog (lab, 11 years) had a very aggressive tumor that showed up and in the span of hours became as big as a baseball.  There was no wait, and the staff was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions.  They came up with a couple really  good options for an immediate plan, and I followed up with our regular vet in the morning.  I was happy to drive over from Las Colinas to this location, and unless I find someone here, if the need arises, I will drive over from Ft Worth. Last night was the hardest night of our lives realizing our sweet 16.5 year old dog was not going to make it through the weekend. Our neighbor recommend we bring Stewy to this location and I can't express enough how thankful we are that we did.  From the moment we even called and spoke with Jacqueline to let them know we were coming in, they were so sweet.  Dr. Bush and Sophie treated my baby as if he was their own.  Stewy passed so peacefully and we could not have wished anything less for our sweet angel.I feel the need to edit this and if I could give 10 stars we would.  We just received the sweetest heartfelt card with handwritten notes from each of the staff that were on that night.  Although I bursted into tears as soon as I saw they didn't just sign their names, I can't express how much it meant to me.  We are so glad you were the ones to be with us during those final moments. I know it would not have been the same special time even with our longtime vet. Read Less

I am very grateful to this hospital and how they worked with me and my puppy, Romeo. Romeo was extremely sick with Parvo and was on the verge of death. I could not afford the gold standard treatment he needed, but these vets worked with me on both a treatment plan and pricing so that I was able to get him treated last Sunday night to make it through the night. I ultimately ended up having to surrender him to the Austin Pets Alive Parvo Puppy ICU in Austin to get him the full treatment he needed, but MedVet played a crucial role in stabilizing him so that I could get him there for the treatment he needed. My very own vet - Custer McDermott Animal Hospital did not even attempt to work with me on pricing and just wanted to charge me $400/day for 5-7 days of treatment, which was absolutely ridiculous and incredibly out of reach. This emergency vet, however was willing to work with me financially and pulled him through until I could get him the proper treatment he so desperately needed. Read Less

Would give 0 stars if I could. Do not go here. Please. My 5 month old husky had been throwing up blood, and howling as if something was stuck. We came here at 1 am, desperate for help. After waiting in the front for a good 30 minutes we finally got someone to take us to a room. 90$ JUST to get your dog's temp and weight taken. Waited for the vet to come in for another hour. She finally came in and felt around our dog's stomach. Said she needed to take x rays to see if there was anything in there ($295) after she looked at the x rays she came back in and basically told us that her stomach was irritated (I could've told you that she was throwing up blood?) but she didn't know why, that she needed to send it to her radiologist friend ($495). This lady spent about 10 minutes telling me how she HIGHLY recommends we send the x rays to a radiologist because they have more schooling in x rays than she does. Later the next day when we were looking at the paperwork we saw her name, with the word "radiologists" under it as her title, so she lied to get more money out of us. This lady had NO idea what she was talking about I seriously doubt she's a real vet. They basically took $700 from me for no reason, because they still had no idea what was wrong with my dog, but HIGHLY recommended surgery for $3000? Also for me to leave her there for the night for $800? They close at 7am and because of the amount of time they took doing everything I ended up leaving at 5am, with still no idea what was wrong with my dog. So much more is wrong with this place, but it would make my review really long. Please find another option other than this place, the reviews are all correct, they don't care about you or your dog, they want your money, and I'm having trouble believing they're even real vets. The only god part is the girls in the front. From an animal lover to another, find somewhere else to go for this place is your worst nightmare. I took her to a vet in the morning, and he told me she didn't have anything in her stomach she just ate something that cut it up, gave me antibiotics, gave her a shot, and recommended we feed her baby food brown rice chicken and hamburger meat. She's doing great, has not thrown up, or pooped blood, and is as energetic as ever. Read Less

We took our dog here on a holiday, and of course it was somewhat busy and we had to wait about an hour to speak to the actual vet, however the staff came out to speak with us in the lobby and check on our dog periodically so we could have the quickest and easiest experience possible. Yes it is expensive ($90 for just the exam), but it's an emergency vet so that's to be expected. You don't bring your pet to a place like this unless they need immediate care and can't be seen by their normal vet. They do ask for you to pay up front, also normal for an emergency vet, I understand how that can make people feel uncomfortable but that's just how these places work. They were able to diagnose our dog to the best of their ability and gave him the medication he needs. I would definitely recommend this vet to anyone who needs emergency care when their normal vet isn't available!Read Less

We just got back from MedVet.....this is going to be long but if you want the short version, do NOT take your pets here. They do not care about your loved one they only want to get you to pay the MAXIMUM they think they will be able to get out of you.For those of you who want the whole story, we found an adorable black lab puppy running across a busy street last week and almost got hit. We have rescued a countless amount of animals, so this one wasn't going to be an exception. We brought him home and a few days later one of our dogs snapped at him over a dog treat leaving him with a puncture wound. After cleaning the wound for a couple of days the swelling went down and we thought things would be ok, until we noticed him getting more lethargic. We have an appointment with our regular vet for later this week to check on him and give him vaccines. It was Sunday today and we both became very concerned as the dog slept all day and was obviously feverish as his tongue and skin was very hot, so we decided to take him in for a shot of antibiotics and possibly pain medicine to get him through the night so we could take him to our vet the next morning. Upon arrival at MedVet the receptionist was very nice. We waited for maybe 20 minutes before they could see our puppy, Dak. Before even taking us into an exam room they took our puppy to the back. Once they were ready to bring us into a room, we waiting for a LONG time without our pup. Finally the vet tech greeted us and told us he did have a fever and that she wanted the history on what happened. My boyfriend explained everything from the moment we rescued him up until today, she took good notes and said that the vet would check him out and then come talk to us. After another hour and we still have not seen our dog, we started getting impatient and noticed the exam table was still dirty from the last pet that was in there. Black dog hair ALL over the table AND blood drops, we took pictures. Our concerns were already growing since neither of us had ever been to a vet that kept your pet from you this long and now we know they don't clean their exam tables between patients.....eventually the vet tech came back in and apologized for the long wait and kindly offered us something to drink. She brought us both a can of sprite and styrofoam cups. As she dropped these items off she joked about how she kept trying to get the office to bring in a margarita machine "but drinking at work was frowned upon." The part that really caught my attention was as she was leaving the room she said "but with a couple of margaritas they [guests] will sign ANYTHING!" Wow did she just say that??? Mind you this is not our first rodeo at a Vet ER...we were already prepared for them to try to get us to agree to a hefty bill. So this comment was a big red flag...plus we haven't seen our dog in an hour and a half!!! Are they holding him hostage??? Finally, FINALLY, the vet Dr. Hellstern comes in and asks us where our dog was.......we told her we have been wondering the same thing. She says she's going to go find him and leaves the room. TWENTY minutes go by and I was about to open the door and see what the heck was going on!!! She comes back STILL without our dog and says oh he's sleeping in a kennel.....WHY DID IT TAKE YOU TWENTY MINUTES TO FIGURE THAT OUT?! Both of us are very uncomfortable and just want to see our puppy at this point. We finally talk with the vet about everything that had happened...she wasn't very pleasant, did NOT make us feel any better about the care of our dog...AND chastised my boyfriend for starting Dak on necessary antibiotics that we had left over from another one of our pet's vet visits. Telling us that it wasn't the correct dosage and we assured her that we knew what dosage we needed to give him and that we were giving him a proper dose she continued to tell us that it was the wrong thing to do. Fast forward to the end prescription....she prescribed the exact same antibiotic with the exact same dosage that she had chastised us about! Anyways, she suggested many things that were completely unnecessary as we reminded her that we were taking him to our regular vet in the morning and just wanted to get his fever down and keep him comfortable through the night. After we told her exactly what we wanted and denied all of her unnecessary "recommendations" of keeping him over night on fluids, and blood tests, and this and that she left the room. Finally the vet tech comes back in with the bill....a $1500 bill....WE STILL HAVE NOT SEEN OUR DOG! As she started down the list I immediately stopped her and told her that we JUST spoke with the vet and told her that none of this was necessary and we did not want to do all of this....well before i could even finish my sentence she got VERY defensive telling us that this is just optional, and that this is just her job! Then she pulled out a SECOND bill that was much less we still had to argue about some of the items but left @ $150. Read Less

MedVet @ Richardson Misdiagnosed my dog and almost KILL her. I took my dog to this emergency the doctor insist my dog is in very bad condition suggest us to let her go (put her to sleep and let her die). She still can stand and bark.... she isn't look as bad as the doctor describe. The doctor said if we don't let our dog die tonight at the emergency, the dog going to suffer and die after we leave the emergency which can be anytime within 24 hours. The tech keep asking us to sign the paper work to choose which option we want to let her die. We paid $220 for consultation and one medicine pill. Then we went to another MedVet emergency at Dallas. MedVet emergency at Dallas was much better. They run few tests... and give the dog some medicine ($500), We pick her up next morning and went to her regular vet. Her regular vet said my dog condition was not that bad. My dog is good to go home the next day. The vet also said as long as my dog is on her medicine and eat healthy food she still can live few more years. Read Less

Let me first say the receptionist was sweet. But...I cant help but feel taken advantage of. I brought my doggie in for an emergency visit last night. I spent most of the time speaking with the tech and then a few minutes with the Doctor. Honestly, he truly seemed to lack compassion. While he diagnosed my honey almost instantly he still ran a battery of test, when there was only one or two test that told him anything and that he discussed with me. They seemed more concerned with making sure I could pay the bill rather than my pet. Another thing I didn't care for is that he came out into the WAITING ROOM (instead of having someone call me back to the treatment room) and discussed my dogs heart condition diagnosis with me (again with little compassion - mostly judgement). I would suggest that this office learn better bed side manner: for the dogs and their owners and respect the privacy of the patient and their family-I don't want strangers to see me cry!!! Read Less

Last night, we brought our puppy, Dubai, into the clinic with complaints of serious bleeding and a serious laceration. Upon arrive, we were treated very warmly by the front desk receptionist, and appreciated her care and help. However, as soon as the doctor came into our room to discuss a treatment place, things went sideways. Dr. Kores (I think that's how she spells it) at first seemed nice. As she started rambling about all the things she would need to do, I grew suspicious. Many of the things she mention, I didn't think we're necessary. My husband asked, "is this the best course of action?" The doctor immediately changed and became such a rude person. She actually responded with, "I mean if you can't afford it, I could just put a bandaid on it and you can be on your way." In the worst possible tone ever. How freaking rude! First off, no one said anything about money. Second off, what kind of professional are you????? We can afford that and your entire salary, but that's not the point. The point is, you don't treat patients in your hospital like that. From now on, in time of need, we will go to another clinic strictly because we see to this clinic it's all about the money and not about the patients. Sad too. The welcoming staff was amazing. I'll take my money and go elsewhere. Dr. Kores. Read Less

There was NO guilt tripping or "you are the worst dog owner ever, I hope you feel terrible" AT ALL. It is evident that everyone there loves animals. As dumb as it is, I could hear the vets sweet talking and cooing to my puppy through the door, and that made me feel a ton better knowing they were being nice to him. I took my puppy in on 1/15/17 for vomiting. I explained to the vet tech that he had gotten into our peace lily plant and shortly after had started vomiting. That was his only symptom. So the vet tech leaves and then comes back to tell me that they needed to do a parvo test, due to the fact he had been vomiting and that he was a puppy. She explained that it would cost $60 and it was necessary. I told her that he had his vaccinations and I had my doubts, but we went ahead and had him tested. Shortly after they took the test, the vet tech called us back to the exam room. Once we got to the room, I asked her if the test was positive or negative. She looks at me with a "smile" and says, it's positive. I was floored. I couldn't believe my puppy had parvo and that he could possibly die from it. Parvo is a very aggressive virus and could kill my puppy in a short amount of time. I was in shock and looked at her..like what?? But she just smiled and said the vet would be in shortly to go over treatment plans. Let me just say that my puppy had no other symptoms. He had been vomiting for almost three days and the only time he vomited was shortly after he ate. He had an appetite, very active, no diarrhea and was just all around a happy boy. Parvo is an unforgiving virus. It causes diarrhea, lethargy, vomiting, bloody diarrhea..etc.. And can kill within 72 hours. Again, my puppy had been vomiting for almost 3 days and it was just after he ate. Nothing else. So.. the vet comes in and tells me that the test for parvo was a light read. Not sure what that meant, but we went over inpatient and outpatient treatments. I opted to get outpatient treatment for the parvo. Vet leaves and the vet tech comes back. I ask her, what does "light read" mean on the parvo test. She looks at me and says, Oh that could just be our test acting up, but your puppy has parvo. There is no doubt. Then looks at my puppy with a smile and says in a jolly voice, yes (my puppy's name) you have parvo. It was like she was happy about it. The weirdest experience of my life. Here I am freaking out in my head that my puppy is going to die and this vet tech is all happy and treating my puppy like he's about to get a new toy. Ugh!!!So I get home and start cleaning everything with bleach, while crying. Thinking my puppy is going to die. Turned my house upside down, trying to kill this virus in my house. The next morning I decided to take him to our vet for a second opinion after speaking to a few people and them expressing their doubts. And guess what..it seems he doesn't have parvo after all. Who's fault is this?? Possibly the test itself. But I am upset at the fact they never listened to me in the beginning when I told them what I thought the issue was. I hold the vet tech more accountable for what my puppy and I went through last night. Very unsympathetic and insisted that he had parvo. If I had not been so emotional about him having parvo and wanting to take care of it right away so he wouldn't die, I would have asked the vet more questions and pushed for different tests to be done. But because the vet tech insisted he had parvo, why do other tests to be sure it wasn't something else. How frustrating. All said and done, I paid $395 for treatment he didn't even need. And today I had to pay more money to our own vet to get the right diagnosis. How fun. I will never step foot in this clinic again. And I'll be sure to tell all of my Texas peeps about my experience with this clinic. Read Less

I didn't go in with high expectations because it is an ER Vet and Christmas Eve but the service, or lack thereof, from the Doctor was beyond reprehensible. The front desk and all the staff were amazing and caring. I waited a long time, like 5 hours in total, because there were major emergencies happening but that's not the bad part. My dog had broken her leg but I wasn't sure how bad since she's done it before. The Doctor proceeded to tell me that it was bad and she would need a $2-3000 surgery. There's no way I could afford that and especially on Christmas eve. I debated what to do and asked for other options. I was obviously upset at the thought of losing my girl. The Dr made a few low cost centers suggestions but said it would be still around $1500+ and said that the limb could be removed cheaper but THEN proceeded to tell me that maybe the dog would be better off with someone that could afford the care. WTF?!?!? I asked that she be put in a splint and given medicine until she could see our Vet. The bill was still over $300 just for the visit, pain med and splint. I was able to see our vet and he confirmed that it was broke but that she could stay in the splint and heal just fine like that. He was also taken back by what I was told at MedVet. Granted, I didn't let her do an X-Ray because they wanted almost $300 for that but all it would tell her is how bad the break was and she was certain that she needed surgery. It's the complete lack of professionalism and compassion that is my issue with this place. I will make it a point to tell everyone I know with animals to never trust your babies with this clinic. My dog, Ben, and I just got home from the emergency vet. He'd had surgery a week and a half ago, and his staples and stitches were set to be removed by my regular vet tomorrow. Well, I left him alone for eight minutes today, and in that time, he managed to rip out a staple and cause a nice, bloody mess. After cleaning it, the wound was still bleeding and I couldn't tell if it was closed or not, so off to the emergency vet we went. They got us in immediately and checked my pup out. They didn't think he'd opened the wound, but suggested I buy a baby turtleneck to keep him from bothering it anymore. After I told them I'd like to keep my hands (my dog can be rather bitey), the tech, Lucas, fashioned a fancy shirt for him out of some cotton tubing. It fit him like a glove.Dr. Deborah Charles was wonderful!! She was gentle with my little monster and when we went up front, she surprised me with a wonderful deal on the cost of the visit. I may have hugged her. I hope I didn't freak her out.Thank you!! This was my second visit in about four months. I feel fortunate that this place is so well run AND so close to my home. For an after-hour animal emergency room, I can't imagine better service or care.  Many years ago, we took our beagle there after she had eaten something and was vomiting.  They got her stable and we followed up with our regular vet the next day.  This was in 2006, so all I remember was the great care.Again, on 09/19/16, we had to take our sweet baby Starr for an emergency that we knew would involve an end-of-life decision.  Tricia and Dr. Hellstern were amazingly caring and compassionate.  My son and I were sitting in the exam room but could hear Starr barking and growling at Dr. Hellstern.  We could also hear Dr. Hellstern calm her with kind words just like we would do.  Starr was quite spirited and expressed herself with her growls!  Dr. Hellstern treated her and spoke to her as if she knew this dog as long as we did!  I'm certainly not happy to have lost my baby, but I'm grateful for the care and compassion shown by Tricia and Dr. Hellstern. DOG OWNERS BEWARE: the vets hear don't give a sh*t about your animals, they just want to extract the maximum amount of money they can from you. My dog was very sick, and before considering all the possibilities, they just dosed him with Valium! Then they called back to say they needed to give him an IV and do a blood test which would cost around 1k. We had our family friend bet come over and check out our pup, and it turns out he just went into shock due to hypoglycemia and the Valium they dosed him nearly killed him because he could not eat or drink for hours. I had always been fearful of needing to use emergency animal services due to the high cost I anticipated (given typical emergency room fees for people). When one of our cats had a bad reaction to a medication on a Saturday night, I contacted our regular vet and got referred here. I called first and it was suggested we come in; I am so glad we did. I was very happy with the reasonable exam and overnight observation fees. I also appreciated the friendly service, very short wait time, clearly explained best-/worst-case quote, cleanliness of the facility, and personal visit with the vet, especially during such a scary time with our beloved kitty. I didn't receive an update by phone as I had expected, which was probably for the best so that I could try to get some sleep. I just called when I woke up and was able to get an update right away. Fortunately, he is ok now and recovering well. Thank you guys for being there for us; I would definitely recommend and use your clinic again. Read Less

We, sadly, went at 4am to have our sweet 15 year old dog put to sleep after he lost use of his back legs.  We were devastated and I couldn't even talk when I went in to let them know we needed help bringing Jake in.   Fortunately, an angel named Samantha was there.  She could not have been kinder or more compassionate.  I will forever be grateful for her gentleness.  The veterinarian on duty was just as caring.  Dr. Joanna Henderson took her time explaining everything carefully, then tenderly delivered the proper medications after a brief examination to make sure that this was not a treatable situation.  After witnessing their professionalism and kind, caring treatment of our "baby" and of us, I would go there again if needed, without hesitation.  They are wonderful and I thank them for making one of the saddest moments, as bearable as possible. She said that rather than going to the expense and time for her to sedate my dog and stitch her up that it could wait till morning when I can return to my regular  vet. While seeing the doctor the staff cleaned the blood out of my crate and put in a clean fresh towel. So very nice. The vet even refunded me my money since they really did not do anything. I wish I never had to come here, of course, but I'm glad this place exists! We have a 16-year-old cat with some medical issues, and the other night when I was giving him the customary Greenie after his nighttime medication, he started pawing at his mouth and yowling. It freaked me out and after a minute it was pretty obvious that his canine tooth had bent a full 90 degrees due to the crunchy treat! We got him in his carrier immediately and headed straight to the Emergency Animal Clinic. We had to wait a few minutes but they got us in as soon as they could and gave him some pain medicine and antibiotics. They were able to remove most of the tooth and get him comfortable, which was a big relief to all of us. They were all so nice to us and sweet to our guy, even on a busy Friday night with one of the two docs in surgery. I'm also really impressed with how professional their staff are in the face of some bizarre behavior from the other customers, like someone who just let his unleashed dog roam around the waiting room peeing on things. The front desk tech just calmly cleaned it up and didn't even strangle the guy, like I would have. These people have a tough job and they deserve some champagne. Read Less

We use this location exclusively for our emergency pet care after two unsatisfactory experiences at their other location on 190. We had a furbaby who needed emergency care last Fall. The staff was very compassionate while doing tests to determine the problem. They kept us updated. The vets here are wonderful as is the whole staff. It turned out our furbaby needed emergency surgery. They saved her life! They kept her overnight for observation and in the morning we picked her up to take her to our regular vet. You can imagine how surprised we were to walk in and see our furbaby on her feet, a little woozy but ready to go. That was back in November of 2015. This particular furbaby got well and then recently had a new problem pop up. She was under care of our regular vet. We were awaiting test results to see what it was we were dealing with. Unfortunately, early yesterday evening she took a turn for the worse. Something was wrong we didn't know what. We loaded her into the car and rushed her  to this location. Well, she died on our way there. We took her in and the staff immediately rushed her in to make sure she was truly gone. They shortly confirmed to us that she was indeed gone. They led us to this little room where we were able to be with her privately and grieve. They remembered her from last Fall and you could see they were genuinely touched by her passing as well. They brought her in and placed her on a table covered with a brightly colored quilt/blanket. They gave us as much time as we needed with her. Didn't rush us. They answered all our questions and helped us make arrangements to hold her until we talked to our regular vet this morning to make final arrangements for our baby girl. Those arrangements have been made and our vet is working to coordinate things with them. Our heart breaks at the loss of our little girl but we are thankful for the care and attention she received from the staff of EAC. Yes they cost more than regular vets but then they are an emergency facility. You would pay more if you went to the E.R. instead of going to your regular doctor too but the cost is worth it when it saves a life or improves quality of life. I recommend this location without reservation. If your furbaby is as important to you as ours was to us then they deserve the best emergency care you can give them. Read Less

They offered absolutely no help at all and turned me away because they had never seen her before. They claimed there was nothing they could do to help me unless I brought her in, which just wasn't an option. They saved my 17 year old pekingese life.  We were extremely lucky to walk in and be seen by Dr. Deborah Charles.  She was a G-dsend!   My pup had been told by his regular vet the day before that he probably had a tummy bug and was sent home with some anti-nausea and pro-biotic anti-diarrheal meds.  The following day they were closed as it was a Sunday and he still did not want to eat and thankfully we decided to bring him in.  Dr. Charles immediately knew there was a problem and his blood tests confirmed her thoughts. She even diagnosed a heart murmur that we had no idea he even had. They kept him overnight, she went off duty at that point and he was under the care of Dr. Triplet (sp?) who was also a lovely doc.  I was terrified to leave him overnight because he has almost never slept overnight at a vet but anyone could see that he was in great and caring hands. The following morning we took him to a specialist where he wound up needing emergency surgery - it's a LONG story that I will save for the review of that center, but we are eternally grateful that he is now on the mend about a week post surgery.  Of course we just pray he keeps getting stronger by the day. I've had 2 experiences here to chat about quickly, sort of ;). My 1st experience was with my new Yorkie who had a horrible accident. I called while frantically crying and drove right over. As soon as I got there the staff was calm and the doct came out to the lobby to let me know she was who I spoke with on the phone.  I was so beside myself they let me come to the back and then let my friend come back as soon as she arrived.  Hearing the words that your dog passed and accidents happens is awful but at the same time I was surrounded by calm and caring individuals.  They allowed me time with my baby alone and at that time I remember saying I wouldn't get another, this is too hard I'm DONE.  I even received a random hug outside from a complete stranger!! My 2nd experience was with my new pup (guess I wasn't done) who eats everything outside but this time she quickly became sick. Of course being 6pm the vet was closed and I knew who could care for her and they are close to my home. As soon as I got in the door I thought I'd be sad but my situation was different this time, we all were talking, sharing stories, and laughing.  My baby was immediately seen, by Dr Henderson (amazing doct!) I was able to go kiss on her before leaving her for the night.  They took care of my G, she is so much better now, resting and giving kisses. THANK YOU TO THE ENTIRE STAFF! After giving treatment options (and pricing) we were not given long to make a decision. We paid the office visit and the additional $ for the antibiotics and took our dog to Hillside Vet Clinic where they very lovingly took care of our dog. We recently took my dog to this clinic because it was a Saturday and our vet was closed. $400 later and no helpful advice. It is so disappointing that they seemed to care more about racking up a list of expenses (blood work, xrays, etc) to make up for the fact that they had no idea what's wrong, none of which were even helpful in her diagnoses. The fact that you have to pay $90 almost the minute you walk in the door is also unsettling. We ended up taking our dog to the regular vet the next Monday and he diagnosed her within minutes. Cost us $40. I understand that they are open on the weekends while others are not, but I should feel comfortable taking my dog here without worrying about paying an arm and a leg and not even getting help fixing the problem. As this was my first vet experience, I have to sadly compare this hospital to Parkland ER.  Granted I've never been to Parkland but I would imagine my experience would be similar to going there.1. Long waitMy pitbull mix was attacked by two Labradors at a nearby dog park, and her ear was bleeding badly.  We got to the EAH at 5:30pm and did not get seen by a doctor until around 6:45pm.  I understand that space is limited, and there must be a finite amount of doctors available but damn.  I would not complain about the wait had our attention been met with the same level of conviction, but no.2. PrejudiceAs I mentioned before, we own a pitbull terrier mix.  The moment the vet technician saw that out dog wasn't a Yorkie, collie, lab, poodle, or some other typical upscale household pet her demeanor changed from caring to presumptuous.  She accused our puppy of being "dog aggressive," was abrasive with manner in which she conveyed the amount for her procedure, and very dismissive in getting us out of the building.I couldn't really understand why the temperament of the staff would be antipit when ultimately it was a puppy being attacked by two adult dogs.  Anyway, we took her to her regular vet who assured us that our puppy was the furthest thing from aggressive--considering that she lives with 3 cats. Unfortunately this clinic doesn't come close to the quality of care or friendly service I have received over the years at North TX ER.I would say the pricing is about the same but this place is the Ford Escort compared to NTER clinic being the Cadillac. We recently moved east which made this clinic closer so decided to give them a try when my older dog appeared to be in pain or shock.I made a quick phone call to verify they were open. The lady on the other end was snippy for only being opened 30 minutes and emphasized that it was $90 for an office visit. I get it! It's the ER vet not need to reiterate it multiple times in our 60 second phone call. They were quick to see our dog but then had some more sever emergencies come in which put us way on the back burner. After almost 3 hours, they still didn't have time to review our x-rays but said everything looked fine and sent us home with pain meds. (If we wanted to wait another hour, they said they would be able to review them.) They said the info, including records would be sent to our vet the next day.Paperwork was faxed but no records sent. 5 days later I was still trying to get a copy of my x-rays!!! It took multiple phone calls and pressing through and awful automated system and leaving messages. When the director did call me back, she was pleasant and sent the x-rays over.Bottom line, this is not a process I would want to repeat.I called this morning since they close at 8AM & was told they could email them or I could pick up a CD after 6PM (when my vet is closed). My vet called about 2:00 to say they still haven't received an email. From the website I got their business office but apparently it is the Greenville location. I tried the finance director option only to be transferred to a cell phone that doesn't work. I called back selected the medical director's office and left a message. Then I got a hold of a guy named Jim who basically was no help and said to just call the clinic back after 6. He took my contact info and said he could have the medical director call me tomorrow. That doesn't help my dog, who is still in pain, and the vet that needed the records 5 days ago.I would only take my pets here as a last resort. It seems they are way more interested in making m Read Less

I truly wish that I had the same type of experience as those who've recently posted.  Most seem satisfied, but I was not.My experience was far different. To be fair, I've wrote, read, and rewrote this post several times b/c I wanted to make sure that I was not simply bashing or criticizing for the sake of "venting" out of frustration. But, I do want to let others know about what I encountered and experienced. It's only fair. My dog: she IS my life. 8 years I've had her and for those 8 years, I've done everything in my power to make her the happiest dog possible. I know I have flaws as an owner (as the vet pointed out in such a condescending manner). I give my dog table scraps, treats, let her swim in 'standing' water (a creek is not standing water btw) and have allowed her to become 5-10 lbs overweight. I get this and don't dispute it. But, this is the LAST thing that I need to hear from an "emergency" vet when my dog isn't feeling good and when I'm a wreck emotionally.  Where is the compassion? Where is the empathy? Where is the understanding of someone's situation?! I mean, it's not like I am the customer paying for............... Oh waitListen, I don't claim to be the best owner in regards to giving my dog the 'diet' a "vet" deems appropriate, but that's no reason to jump to conclusions and scold me like I'm a child; especially in a time of vulnerability. I went you only b/c my dog was in pain and had a UTI, not b/c I was looking to be belittled and/or blamed for it. Nor do I need "tips" or suggestions that are completely unrelated to her current condition. My experience sucked. From the cold and bitter receptionist to the "up selling" and condescending 'vet'I just want to warn others to stay away and of course to thank the vet for following up the next day to see how my dog was doing.......,.oh yeah, wait......they never called to see. My mistake. How could I forget Read Less

I had a traumatic incident where my puppy needed supervised care overnight. The vet office that was working on him closed at 6 PM and I was in search of an overnight clinic that I could trust in serious situation. That's when Emergency Animal Clinic came in. The folks from Metro Paws called them directly to inform them that I was on my way. When I arrived they asked minimal questions as they had already been briefed on the situation. They even had my payment taken down and easily accepted Care Credit which has been a lifesaver (highly recommended for high-cost emergencies). The nurses here were incredible. I called several times throughout the night to check on the status of my pup. Each time, they talked to me with patience and understanding and never seemed annoyed on me checking in. In fact, they encouraged me to call back if I had any other questions. I picked my puppy up the following morning and he was stable and well. I am grateful for them giving me a piece of mind during a difficult situation and highly recommend this location in the case of an unexpected matter during non-business hours.

Read Less

Dr. Kores. Read Less

Read Less

I was absolutely distraught when I came in to the clinic. My dog was ill all morning. I was greeted warmly and my pup was seen promptly. I received compassionate care at every turn. The receptionist was nice and tried reassure me that he was in good hands. The technician soothed my dog and tried to get him calm. He was very sweet. The doctor was efficient and clear. Every step of the way I was given details on what was being done for treatment. They gave me 2 treatment plans to choose from with no pressure to choose either one. I hope that I never have another emergency, but if I do I know exactly where to go. A million thanks! Read Less

Worst experience ever! I wish it were possible to give negative stars! We took a sick dog last night and were treated in a very cold and uncaring way. After giving treatment options (and pricing) we were not given long to make a decision. When trying to determine if the additional $800 worth of test was necessary the tech said "well my dog would be worth $800" before leaving the room. We paid the office visit and the additional $ for the antibiotics and took our dog to Hillside Vet Clinic where they very lovingly took care of our dog. The $800 worth of tests previously recommended cost $200 and the surgery and hospital ended up costing 1/2 the previously quoted price. All staff were loving and did not rush you into a decision. Do not take your dog to this Emergency Care Clinic!!! Read Less

Go to the North Texas Emergency Pet clinic if you can.

Read Less
