Dr. Cruser and his staff are some of the kindest most caring people in the veterinary business. Three years ago we had to say goodbye to our 20 year old calico cat and they helped us through a very difficult time. Yesterday it was our 18 year old orange and white tabby. They were all very kind and comforting and made sure we were not rushed. We have only been there a few times since we are only here in the winter but Dr. Cruser treated us like friends. I brought my cat in as he was in horrific pain. I was told to see Dr. Cruser, but was seen by Stork instead. He said that my cat had possibly suffered a blood clot and that he could possibly have saddle thrombus which is a deadly horrible possible diagnosis. He gave my cat a shot of pain meds and sent him home. All day I was crying thinking that my cat was going to die. When I got home from work, he was in so much pain and I rushed to the 24 hour emergency vet in Corpus Christi. They rushed him back as soon as I got there. After exam, I was relieved to know that it wasn't saddle thrombus, but a urinary tract blockage that is very common in male cats. What kind of vet (Stork) would do that to someone? I even asked Stork to exam his penis because that's where the pain was. He did not because he said he already knew it was a blood clot. I am so angry with this man! He traumatised me so badly with a very wrong diagnosis. He should be banned from ever touching an animal again. Read Less

Had a bad experience with another local vet and my dog has been freaked out since.  Decided to try Rockport Veterinary Clinic when my  dog contracted food poisoning.  My dog was calm the entire time instead of hiding under a chair and trying to get away.  The technicians and vet seem to actually like my dog (not so much at the other vet).  Will definitely be staying with Dr. Cruiser.This is a non-stop busy office that allows walk-ins.  Check or cash only. Had to find a vet for my sick cat and after calling, I was told to bring her in.  Bay breeze clinic could not see her till Monday and another one told me to wait till Thursday.  Dr Cruiser was wonderful and I didn't feel raked over the coals on the bill either.  He took his time was just so kind!!!! When we first got our pup, we were not sure what puppy shots he had been given, and we needed to find a vet either way. Heard how great dr cruser (sp?) is from everyone in town. So I figured I must go to this vet for my pup.Well, I didn't make it past the front desk. Brought my pup in, told them his age filled out a form with my info and his info (as much as I knew) and the woman at the front was so rude. She spoke to me like I have never owned a dog before, as if I was stupid for not knowing what puppy shots he has had. (People in the waiting room listening, how embarrassing!) I asked her if I could just speak to the vet to get him up to date on what he needed. She told me no and that I needed to wait for the other 'paying customers' to be helped and then she would help me further. Needless to say, I told her she was rude, I didn't appreciate her treating me like an ignorant child and I would seek vet cares elsewhere.(Note, vet techs and other receptionist heard entire conversation. Never stepped in, offered help etc.)I went to bay breeze vet downtown and couldn't be happier! They know me and my pups by name, they are always there to answer all my questions and even call me periodically to see how my dogs are doing.Even though I filled out a form with name/number etc, never got a call saying they were sorry and would like me to come back in.SKIP this vet, go to bay breeze where the receptionist is DELIGHTFUL & PLEASANT to work with. I have taken my pit/mix for heartworms and they were very nice and caring..they have helped her enormously. I also had to euthenize my 2 older small dogs, I was a mess and they assured me they went peacefully and got them ready for a burial at my home. Excellent Vets and staff! Read Less

We are on vacation here from British Columbia, Canada and had run out of medication for one of our dogs.  Dr. Cruser kindly offered to write us a scrip for that medication if he could speak to our vet at home.  His staff spent quite some time on the phone, and processing, to get us that prescription.  To make a long story shorter, we were treated kindly and there was no charge for their service.  We would highly recommend the Rockport Vet Clinic, with absolutely no reservations! These vets (Dr. Cruser and Dr. Stork) are superb. They take time with the owners, explain everything clearly, and are gentle with the animals. The front desk employees are competent, not very friendly until you get to know them. These are the best vets I have ever found - and, I have owned over 30 animals in the same number of years!
