This place is a complete disappointment. The lack of professionalism and compassion for our furry friends is unbelievable. They should be more grateful to clients that bring their pets to them. After all, thanks to us, veterinarians, assistants, and receptionists, have a job. I waited over 2 hours with my sick puppy that spent the entire night with diarrhea and vomiting. My puppy started barking to take out to poop because of diarrhea. I was asked to leave the place because my dog was noisy. I was already in a private waiting room waiting for the veterinarian. The veterinarian was late and I guess my dog was not important enough to take medical care. I'll never be back to that place again. I hope my review can give the information you need to take your beloved pet somewhere else. Read Less

Get ready to pay a lot , all they need is your money doing unnecessary test and later tell you that is too late , sorry.
My experience with veterinary doctors and clinics - they love to suck your money for nothing and make you feel responsible for the suffering of your pet. Simply if you have enough money to pay you may be lucky to safe your pet. ( price of old car at least) . They playing with the feelings you have , having system to take as much as possible, because your pet is in the end of it life so, after that they have no chance to get any money. Also, while I'll was in the waiting room a different woman and her kids came in. They needed help getting their injured/sick dog out of the car. We cannot thank the Doctors and staff enough for their professionalism and caring of my furry friend Pogo. They took him in immediately and looked after him. After a little while, they took us to the back to visit with him before we drove back one hour to Fort Hood. They took the time to explain all the procedures they were going to try and they did not sugar coat the prognosis. The Dr’s told us it was our decision and that they would abide with it. My Pogo was very very sick and in pain. After much thought and contemplation, we decided to let Pogo go. He had been part of our family for 12 years. The doctor came into the room with Pogo and told us we had as much time as we needed, if we wanted we could take him to get hamburgers. We happened to have left overs from Chevy’s and he loved it. He had not eaten for at least 3 days due to his illness.

Do you come here. We took our dog here because she had a large gash in her side. Then it took another half hour to actually come treat my dog, which they did not actually do. Instead they just cleaned the wound and told us to go see our regular vet in a couple days yet they charged us A LOT to treat our dog. They also could not identify the breed of my dog. We told them over and over her breed yet they didn't listen and labeled her breed incorrectly on her chart and the medications they gave us even though we wrote the correct breed on the paperwork.
Additionally, when the vet, Shelley Pasternak was cleaning our dogs wound and clipping the fur around it she just pushed hair into the wound and cut part of the skin off with the clippers. The only redeeming point was that the Vet Tech was extremely nice.

Worst customer service experience ever. I dropped my daughter's cat off at this facility for overnight observation after he had surgery at our regular vet. When I dropped him off, I was asked to pay the high end of the estimate for the stay, which I was glad to do.
When I arrived to pick up our cat, the total due was roughly $400 less than I paid and I was told by the receptionist that I should expect a refund check in the mail in 1-2 weeks. She scribbled the amount they owed me on a sticky and asked me once again to be patient for the refund check.
I waited the full 2 weeks with no refund and decided to call the office and check on it. I was told that my number was going to be left for the practice manager, who was out, and that I should call back on Monday. No big deal, being the weekend and all.
So I called back on Monday, mid-day. At this point, I was told that it was clear that I overpaid but that there was no record of them sending me a check. She admitted that sometimes the weekend people don't know how to note situations like this and she would need to check about next steps. I was put on hold so she could check with the practice manager who confirmed that my refund did, indeed, slip through the cracks. I asked that the practice manager call me back with a resolution - specifically when/how I would be receiving my refund.
No returned call.
I called back later the same day to get the status and still was told indirectly by the practice manager that she would have to call the main office and expedite the refund... still with zero indication of when. I asked for a call back with this info.
No returned call.
I called back one last time - the day after - for the status and asked to speak to Jodi directly as this is the name I heard repeatedly as the person to talk to - and the one I see in response to reviews here. The person who answered the phone asked my name, put me on hold, and came back to say "Jodi said your check is in the mail."
I suppose if you're not interested in ensuring that you speak directly to your customers when they have legitimate concerns and frustrations, then you're left with a negative review. You had every opportunity to make this right immediately - and even in the subsequent phone calls. Now you've forced someone who never leaves negatives reviews to do just that. Best of luck with this business approach. Read Less

Our darling boxer Luna has Lymphoma. We were referred to Dr. Daly at Heart of Texas Veterinary Specialty Center. All of the compliments in the world could not express our gratitude to Dr. Daly and all of the staff.
We have had outstanding and comprehensive care. During every visit we have sat down with either our extremely knowledgeable nurse Josh, or Dr. Daly. Every question, concern, and tiny thought we have is addressed. Our appointments are always on time. Luna is treated with the most gentle, kind, and loving care, by everyone. Furthermore, we have been able to communicate with Dr. Daly anytime we have needed her, even if our question does not pertain to Luna's cancer.
This place is truly remarkable. My husband is a surgeon and I am an ER physician, which gives us far more knowledge than we'd like to have, but also makes us observe with a high degree of scrutiny, especially when it comes to our fur child. The veterinarians are talented, experienced and provide empathetic, but straight forward information. It's been 5 months and Luna is still going strong, with a phenomenal quality of life. Our gratitude to Dr. Daly and the entire staff can never be fully expressed. Read Less

I am so thankful to have found The Heart Of Texas! My dog Murphy was diagnosed with diabetes two yrs ago and cushings disease shortly after. We have had a very hard two years, we have been dealing with several side illnesses( pancreatitis, horrible allergies, lacerated cornea ) most likely as a result of out of control sugar fluctuations and improper medication dosing, of both diseases. Murphy was a mess and frankly lucky to be alive(dangerously low glucose levels) by the time I found Dr Wood and the Internal Medicine team. We had just moved into town, my dog was sick (again) and I was at my whits end. We have moved several times since bringing him home as a pup 8yrs ago. Dr Wood and her team took the time to make the phone calls and gather records from all of Murphys vets, she spent her weekend reviewing and putting a plan together for how we would move forward. I cannot put into words the weight that was lifted from my shoulders in the weeks and months that have followed. The plan she put in place has worked wonders in getting him back on track and I am so Grateful! Read Less

Read Less

This place is a predatory business preying on people's emotion all the while trying to hold your animal hostage in the back until you agree to pay them $$$ hundreds, possibly thousands for overnight observation. Our dog became paralyzed over the weekend and we brought him here. He was seen right away. Prices were higher but worth it. They cared for our dog like he was part of the family. We had several options for our dog and the surgeon took his time in explaining everything. We had to put our dog down at only the age of 5 and it was very hard. Everyone there was so compassionate making us feel very comfortable with the whole process. Putting down a dog is never easy but going here was the place to go. I got a card in the mail from them the next week. Would highly recommend heart of texas for the quality of care and service.

Read Less
