Brazos Valley Equine Hospitals

Salado, Texas
General Info
Brazos Valley Equine Hospitals in Salado constructs its daily operations from morning intake through evening wind-down by focusing on animal movement and recovery patterns to provide dependable care options throughout Texas. The clinic meticulously observes entry posture alongside sound sensitivity while examining pacing patterns and focal behavior. Medical examinations align with the animal response cycle where ears and teeth checks occur during curiosity phases while abdominal and joint assessments fit into calm periods. Pet owners face inquiries about minute behavioral changes such as their pets' resting spots within the home and their approaches to mealtimes along with their tendency to spend extended periods near doors or soft surfaces. Brazos Valley Equine Hospitals performs diagnostic evaluations alongside age-specific health assessments and preventative examinations while managing GI stabilization and endocrine treatments before surgical preparations and post-operative reflection protocols. Depending on pet temperament and caregiver availability, appointments can either be full-service or divided into two shorter visits. Instead of using checklists medical staff focus on behavioral readiness to perform tasks by adapting to pets’ pacing and touch thresholds. Families get debriefs aligned with their pet's daily rhythm which include time-bound symptoms behaviors emerging after stimulation and methods to watch for rebalancing. An intricate web of text check-ins combined with pacing charts and adaptable timelines ensures follow-up care aligns with the pet's emotional state rather than clinical benchmarks alone. Brazos Valley Equine Hospitals delivers veterinary services to Salado families and Texas residents that match how pets experience life in authentic home environments during actual daily routines.

Outstanding Clinic and Doctors! Last summer, our wonderful Quarterhorse was accidentally injured severely, almost losing his left front hoof. He is an 8 year old accident-prone gelding and seems to have a personal vendetta against fences! The tear went through the left outside portion of his foot, just above the hoof. Artery, tendon, navicular bursa, etc. Dr. Whitaker took immediate action, tied off the artery, cleaned and stitched the wound, then irrigated it daily for what seemed like forever. Infection was thwarted and significant healing is now in progress. Since the injury was so severe, the prospect of him ever being ridden again is slim. Nevertheless, my wife and I did not want to put him down. He is a unique animal to us. Recently, in order to stabilize the foot (no lateral stability due to lack of bone and tendon on one side), Dr. Whitaker decided to start injecting the coffin joint with 200 proof Ethyl Alcohol to promote bone growth and fusion of the coffin joint. Essentially, it kills the cartilage and promotes bone growth. We started this therapy on December 15th, 2010. The second treatment was performed yesterday, January 19th, 2011. X-Rays showed progress even after 30 days. To our amazement, this evening, Traveler is putting full weight on that foot, something he has not done unless sedated since the injury first occurred. Nobody is perfect. No business is perfect either, more especially that of mine. A combination of things leads to any event that happens, good or bad. Personal state of mind effects what a person might think about the care they are receiving at the moment it happens. What I appreciate most about Dr. T's Equine Clinic is that they are human, sincerely love the animals that they care for, and seem to be honorable folks. They have saved my horses life and my horse will have a life worth living. I would recommend this clinic to anyone who cares about their horses.:D Read Less
