Love, Love, Love, Dr.J and her staff.. Dr. K and her staff are processional, knowledgeable and caring. I've been taking my fur babies there now for years. They treat you like you're family and they are very friendly and honest. They charge a very fair and honest price for what they do and I recommend them to everyone. I took my pup here to get checked out for the first time initial exam and she was having problems with going to the restroom in solid form they took a stool sample and did a test for parvo all coming back ok and I was hit with a hefty bill, next day my pup had trouble walking I called the clinic and they wanted me to bring the pup back in for more tests and another hefty bill seems staged they were tough with my dog I could understand the issues she was having walking but they wouldn’t take responsibility. I took her to another Veterinarian for a lot less and upon first seeing dog they knew right off the bat she had a calcium diffeciancy and treated her immediately all for a reasonable price and didn’t go above the quoted price like this clinic did. I don’t normally do reviews but felt I was taken for.... the food they told me to give her was one of the main reasons for the deficiency. They also insulted the means in which she received her vaccines and wanted me to give them to her all over again for a nice price mind you she received her vaccines from an accredited clinic as well. We've been with Dr J for over 10 yrs.... the staff and Dr J have always been commited to the well being of our five - four pawed children. I don't mind waiting if my appointment isn't exact, just like comparing to my appointments... with my doctor. The phones are busy, the phone wait time may be long, your confirmed appointment may run a longer wait time.. these are indications that she cares to take her time and not rush. For those that have scored less than 4 stars, you don't deserve to be here and what a disservice to your four pawed child. The front desk is busy because we have a great doctor providing great service. For those that compare price ... it's questionable on your research. I've paid more for other vets that do much less.... good luck. One more fact... Dr J has never been about the money.... if you can't afford to have a pet you shouldn't take the responsibility. To date have had decent experiences with 3 of my pets at this facility. Estimates of fees are identified prior to any treatment and I was free to omit some that I did not want or could not afford. Unfortunately, no payment plans. All in all, better wait time than my own personal physician as well as time spent with client, explanation of treatment, and follow-up. Read Less

They give you an appointment but when you show up 10 minutes early they won't bring you back until 30 minutes after your appointment time. Why even have appointments if you have to wait longer. Not good when you have a dog with anxiety. Read Less

My dog Gunner was ill with parvo. This clinic saved my dogs life. A five day hospital stay was still way more affordable than one day at the Southeast animal hospital which is down the street from me. I am so thankful to Dr. J and her staff. They were patient with me every time I called to check on him especially Genna. The staff explained thourgouly to my husband how to care for our pet once he came home. This is a great clinic and I will recommend it to anyone who cherishes their pets. Read Less

We have brought our pets here for years and have never had any issues with them, over the Christmas break we brought our dog here and were at office for over 3 hours for some blood work. 45 minutes waiting for our appointment, an hour in the exam room waiting and over 45 minutes for blood work results when we were told it would take 15 minutes. The doctor was not at all attentive to our pet, never introduced herself, provided an estimate for a surgery before even doing the blood work, and generally seemed like they only cared about the money. We were very disappointed with the service and then they refused to provide us with an antibiotic when we asked for it without us doing the $900 surgery. I would not recommend seeing them again find a place that cares. Read Less

I called to make an appointment for one of my dogs and the person who answered put me on hold to check the schedule. Almost ten minutes later I finally just hung up. We're new to the area and this place was recommended by a friend but we'll be taking our three dogs somewhere else. I guess they don't care to acquire new clients.Read Less

I was very disappointed to read the post stating people were unhappy. I can tell you, I picked up a dog literally off the street and brought him into 4 Paws for an evaluation before I brought him home. Dr. Jaimez and her staff took great care of him, over the next year they kept up with his treatments, baths and medications since he was critically ill. He is now 7 years old happy healthy young guy thanks for Dr. Jaimez and her team. Yes emergencies happy, and yes I have had to wait. If my dog had an emergency I am glad to know they would see him first. That is what they do in an Emergency Room. I have referred over 15 people to this facility who are now long term clients. These clients have since thanked me for the referral and LOVE what 4 Paws offers.  I don't know who said staff turn over, I have known Dr. Jaimez and front desk staff Abby for the past 7 years now. Excellent service and the prices are great. Checked out some of the vaccines we are getting and the time frames and they are right on the money. Never waited more than 7-9 minutes to get a booster. Place is very clean and there is a grooming place right next door which is very convenient. Read Less

I had recently taken my little dog; Chiweenie in because he was vomiting . Even though the wait was long ; they had said they had 2 emergencies come in before my scheduled appointment . I could understand , I did speak with one of the owners and yes it was an emergency involving her puppy and it would need a blood transfusion .  There are plenty of fun things to look at and do while you wait. I went and visited with two pretty cats who were in a big cage and checked out the grooming side ; where they were offering blueberry facials for $5 - WOW! I also bought Chiweenie some greenies to chew on while we waited . The hospital is always clean and well kept and there are always some kind of festive decorations to make you smile -like the Patriotic white Christmas tree that was so beautifully decorated with red , white and blue bows and stars( see pic) . The staff and main Vet are nice and they even offered me refreshments while I waited to be seen . Chiweenie is doing great and back to his normal happy self . Read Less

I recently boarded my dog for a few days at 4 Paws Animal Hospital. I was a little skeptical because in the past had not heard good things about this place. However, I had no issues. They took good care of her, they were really nice and answered my questions when I called to check up on her and before I went to pick her up, they gave her a complimentary bath! The price was also very reasonable even though she had to get three shots prior to being boarded. There were also no issues as far as getting my dog's things back, for example her leash, blanket, toy, and food. I recommend this place and I would comfortably leave my dog again knowing she's in good hands. Read Less

I will no longer be taking my 4 pets to 4 Paws Animal Hospital. My family (meaning parents, aunt, grandma, and brother) have been taking our pets there since they pretty much opened and never had any problems. Recently the main doctor has been gone a lot of they're hiring a lot of new staff and the problems keep happening more often. For myself, it started a little over a year ago when I rescued my poodle from the streets and took him in to get checked. We rescue animals all the time and take them there. We don't care what the cost is, we just want our animals to be healthy. So I took him in to get checked completely and they said he was perfectly fine, updated his shots and that was that. I noticed he had very bad breath and although I get his teeth brushed every time I get him groomed, the odor was still there. I inquired about it and they said his teeth were fine. But every time I would ask when I was there, I'd wait over an hour to see someone, they'd walk in, say hi, open his mouth and that was that. I FINALLY got someone I've never seen before to check his teeth and he got an attitude with ME and said he had serious tartar build up that needed to be cleaned by putting him under anesthesia. I don't have a problem with that, but the fact that I've been asking for over a year and no one really ever looked at my dog and when they finally do I get attitude for it? Yeah no. THEN I finally got an appointment to get my dachshund spayed after trying for too long and (my co worker was sitting next to me and heard me schedule the appointment) I take her in bright and early while on the clock at work and they say I wasn't scheduled and there were 3 surgeries that day already. So I ask when they might be able to get to her and I got Thursday (mind you I was there on Monday). Because yet again the doctor wasn't in the next day and they're close on Wednesdays. I'm sorry but maybe you need that extra day to be open to take care of your loyal (not anymore) customers. And they even wanted me to leave her there the entire week until Thursday. Why am I going to pay you an arm and a leg for boarding for your mistake 4 Paws? So I took my dog with me back to work and called Pet Medical Center of San Antonio at 7811 Mainland Dr, San Antonio, TX 78250 (210) 681-8333 which fit me in the very next day (they had openings the same day but of course I needed to get back to work). Now I have taken her to 4 Paws right after I got her and keep up with her appointments where they also "check her teeth". But when I took her to get fixed, I was shown that her baby teeth were still in and were not going to fall out on their own so they needed to be pulled. They took care of her very well unlike 4 Paws and it was actually cheaper to get her spayed there. If you continue to take your pets here, please make sure they actually check your pets thoroughly but I honestly would not trust them. I am begining to believe the only reason people go to 4paws is because it's kind of cheap, but you won't ever see the vet only techs and they don't know the answers because they leave the room then come back in with an explanation. The older front desk lady is rude and doesn't know what she's doing at all. I would just rather pay more money for experience and for my pet to actually be seen by the doctor. Read Less

i don't want to give them a terrible review. BUT i've never had a pleasant experience. maybe it's just me but i do appreciate good service and everytime i've walked into the clinic i've had to wait to be helped. which isn't the problem. however i feel even if the receptionist is on the phone they see that i am there and a simple acknowledgment would go very far. i don't know if she was talking to a client or a friend. Beyond thatMy mother always goes to this clinic because they are the only nearest one. She will no longer go there because recently she brought in two stray kittens. She was told the wrong dosage amount and as a result the kittens died terrible convulsive deaths. those are mistakes that should never happen. I've never liked this place and i am glad my mother will no longer take her pets there. Read Less

I will always be grateful to Dr. Jamiez for being the only vet to have gone through the work to ensure my previous dog was properly diagnosed. Here they are effective and caring. After we found 4 Paws, we will never go anywhere else. We have taken all our dogs and cats there since birth. It is a 45 minute drive but Dr. Jaimez is very caring to our pets and so is her staff. I really like the fact that they take the time to explain what they are doing. The contemporary decor sets a peaceful enviroment for my pets and for me as well :)Read Less

I like going to this animal hospital because they are great and nice, Its small and not crowded. I get helped quickly and get everything I need for my dog right there. They even have a groomer next door, and they have the cutest pet clohing items. Read Less
