I actually feel badly leaving this review, since Broadway Oaks was my vet clinic since 1997. I have referred scores of people to them over the years. Two years ago I took my elderly and sick pet bunny there. I did not expect miracles. When I picked him up right before closing time, the vet tech smiled, handed me the carrier and told me he was sleeping. She said he'd been sleeping for hours. I looked in the carrier after she handed him to me and thought he looked strange, almost flattened inside the carrier. He looked almost unconscious, in fact, but I took her, a paraprofessional, at her word. I then went out the door, which they locked behind me. In the car, I opened the carrier to inspect him more closely and realized immediately he wasn't sleeping, he was DYING. It was very obvious, as it would be to anyone who is knowledgeable of rabbit behavior. I was extremely upset as I drove him home. It was a horrible experience. If I'd been informed of his condition earlier that afternoon, I would have driven back to the clinic right away and asked that Dr. Richardson euthanize him. Since I didn't have that option, I could only take him home. It took him all night to die as I held and comforted him. The next morning I took his body back to Broadway Oaks for cremation. Very calmly and carefully, so she would understand I was not mad at the clinic, I told the young woman employee working the counter (a member of the vet's family) what had happened. I told her that their new, "experienced" vet tech had handed me a dying rabbit and told me it was sleeping. I told her, without malice, that if their new vet tech was going to work with rabbits, she should know the difference between a sleeping rabbit and a dying rabbit. I felt it was a fair observation. I was not blaming them for the rabbit's condition, since he was old and sick. I was being honest, hoping their tech would learn from my awful experience. I thought I was being very considerate towards them, considering I was grieving and had been through an ordeal the night before. I was horrified when the young woman employee got confrontational and disrespectful with me. Instead of showing compassion and a willingness to understand my experience, she started defending the vet tech and aggressively chastising me for speaking up. She went on and on as I stood there silently, completely astonished, while I waited for her to calculate my bill. I had no desire or the energy to get into an argument with her. Under the circumstances, I couldn't ask for his body, walk out and try to find another clinic to handle the cremation. A month later I went back to pick up his ashes. (I procrastinated because of the incredible rudeness the day he died.) The same young woman told me she couldn't find his ashes. She acted inconvenienced because it was the lunch hour. (I had called ahead earlier that morning to tell them when I was coming.) I told her I didn't want to come back and I would stand there until she found my bunny's ashes, which she did, about 10 minutes later. With a heavy heart, because Broadway Oaks treated my pets for almost 20 YEARS, I have since found another vet clinic. Broadway Oaks is not the same clinic it used to be. Read Less

Our dog got out of the apartment and was picked up by a lady and her kids on Tues 4/3/18. They took our dog to this clinic on 4/4/18 to see if she was chipped, which she was. Unfortunately the tech Jason neglected to get any information on the people who have our dog, but did succeed in giving these people our dogs name and info associated with her chip just on "good faith" of this woman telling him she will contact us... which she hasn't. His reasoning behind not gathering info on these people was that he got busy. We went to the clinic today 4/5/18 to speak to these people and find out their policy on chipped animals. Jason did apologize for his mistake and when asked about what happened he again explained that he got busy. We spoke to the supervisor and reviewed the video of that day....she mentioned they were nowhere near busy when these people were in with our dog and couldn't understand why he would say that. We were able to get grainy pictures of the people and car but no license plate or any other info. There was a total of 3 customers in the clinic and our dog was in there for almost an hour just to be scanned and sent on the way with these strangers. We didn't receive a call about our dog until 30 minutes after she was gone, and the supervisor had no explanation why no paperwork was done. I've never dealt with this clinic until now, and I'm sure they are good people, but the negligence and unprofessionalism of this one employee might have just cost us a member of our family. Read Less

To the person the runs this facility. I don't understand how you can let an animal that is brought to your clinic to check for a chip because she was lost to be Released back to the person that found her and just give the owners info but not to even take the time to get any information from that other non owner. Let them leave and then an 1hr later call the actual owner to tell them " your dog was brought In and gave your info out". The reason from your employee was it was to busy and he did not get there information. That's just being lazy. Now u let that dog go to a non owner and has not called or brought back to the owner. Why get animals chipped in the 1st place if clinics like this one doesn't care about lost animals Read Less

My bird was very sick so I took him in hoping that something could be done. The vet saw him for a few minutes, prescribed antibiotics, vitamin B12, pain medication, food for sick birds and a laser treatment for the leg. The vet asked that I call him to give him an update within 24 hours on my bird. My bird died in 12 hours and only got worse after our visit. The front desk staff was very helpful in explaining how to give my bird the medicines prescribed. In retrospect, I don't think my dying bird needed a laser treatment on his leg as his illness was probably causing his little leg to go limp, maybe a blood panel would have been better. Stated I want my dog (at 14, he gets anxiety in a cage). Front desk, said trainer almost back. Waiting 12 mnt, still no dog. Asked if there was a problem with him? At that point, I just walked past her where they keep the dog cages. Lady stated they did bathe him, & he was being dry. After being told, I just wanted my dog. Went from rm to rm, they had washed his tummy, butt. He was wet from his underside. Took him from her & asked for his leach. Walked out announcing, I hope they knew, I was not paying for anything! Dr. Richardson and staff are very compassionate and genuinely caring. 2 years, ago , My sweet 16 year old Sheltie Faith needed to be put to sleep and they were so sweet , caring and compassionate . This past Saturday , He had to put my 8 year old Sheltie , Marley asleep due to stage 4 kidney failure and he gave us time with him just and he did before with Faith. When it was time, he and his, staff were heartbroken as we're we. Doc actually had tears in his eyes as did his techs. My 4 year old grandaughter had a beanie baby that she wanted to go to Heaven with her dog. They cremated it with Marley. I went Friday to pick Marley remains up , and they all came out. Doc asked my grandaughter if she had anything to ask him...she replied did my bear go to Heaven with My dog? He compassionately with tears in his eyes said yes. I got Marley and turned around with tears in my eyes and stated to Doc Richardson this: " It doesn't get any easiest does it." His response was this: " When it does that's the day I quit" So both times we came here... he wasnt even our regular vet (which he will be if/when we get another dog) But that's how genuine they are here. They are great but i had struggled so long with my airedale with a skin condition and her itching so much as a puppy. She starts getting worse and i keep buying medication and steroid shots from them. I decide to take her to another vet (by this time i had visited 1 vet previously before broadway). from first sight at this new vet as im about to order the expensive $300 allergy test to see what my dog is so allergic to that shes missing hair all over her body and wounds from her scratching and biting so much they say "no one has ever done a skin scrape on her??" So we do the skin scrape and it turns on she didnt have allergies she had Demodex. And after thousands of dollars spent thinking its allergies and buying medication and shots for her It was just demodex. Oh and those steroids Dr. Richardson kept giving her and counteractive and actually make it worse than originally. So im bitter about all that.

Read Less

Rude manager !!!! Over charged !!! My kitten had ringworm they charged me over $ 100 to treat her. I called 2 Vet. Clinics they told me that I can do it myself and the product is cheaper. go to www.vetrxdirect.com and youtube instructions on how to dip your animal. Sulfur lime dip 16 oz. for $ 11.49 plus 4.99 for shipping. They wanted me to bring her back 4 more times at $ 36.00 each time. No thank you. This isn't an emergency so it would have been nice if they would have saved me money, but no. The other Vets helped me out alot. This one wants to rob you. Do YOUR RESEARCH FIRST !!!!! They are great but i had struggled so long with my airedale with a skin condition and her itching so much as a puppy. I took her here and Dr. Richardson said "if she is this bad she will have allergies for the rest of her life and will need constant care and medication" i was so sad for my dog but i loved her so i was going to take on the challenge. But other than that they are great with other normal pet problems. Read Less
