My dog is given so much love and care by the ENTIRE staff, not just the vet. If I ever have a general vet question, I usually email them, and they call me back within a couple hours at the most, depending on the urgency of the question. Holly, our 7 year old, 7 lb. poodle, needed her teeth cleaned. It took the better part of her one day. We picked her up and she was active and happy. We have noticed since then that she wants a massage, back rub and special ear/head attention. We are a little suspicious. They are wonderful!!! They explained in great detail everything they thought we should do to help my cat Buddy get better. Before they actually did anything they showed me how much each thing cost and even suggested which ones we could try first to help keep the cost down. I took my dog there for the first time during an emergency. They got him in and seen so quickly and were wonderful! My dog wagged his tail even though he felt bad every time the vet tech or vet came in. They put me and my dog at ease and helped find the answers so fast. City Veterinary Hospital is just about as wonderful as it gets.  Everything, from my first phone call to each appointment is done with great customer service and kindness.  I love the original hardwood floors and their commitment to the animals.  Dr Stephens is a book of knowledge about every topic that I have ever asked her about.  When she is not sure, she will research it and get back to me.  Her acupuncture has helped my dog immensely.  I have a distemper survivor puppy, and while many vets that I have been to see have no answers whatsoever, she has improved the quality of his life greatly.  I have had dogs for almost twenty years, and I can say without a doubt that this animal hospital is the best I have ever been to. I love this place, not only is the entire staff friendly but they treat you and your pets like family. I love the history of the building itself. My kitten was a rescue from the streets and I wasn't sure he was going to make it but with their help he went from one pound and sickly to almost 7 pounds and a beast. Loved our first experience here. Our new pup came for a check up and shots. As our dog is a rescue and has had some illnesses already so we had a lot of questions and the tech and vet took the time to answer all of them. The vet office is small and the wait was very reasonable and the front room wasn't crowded which was a nice start. The receptionist was great. She was welcoming and also helped us add a nail clipping at the end. Our tech was great with our dog and also answered our questions on heart worm and flea prophylaxis which was helpful. The tech and vet spent a lot of time with our dog. They weren't rushed which I'm sure will help out when we bring her back. She didn't like the shots but they made sure to give her treats at the end. We use City Vet for both veterinary services as well as grooming. Everyone there is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Each visit they take the time to pet our dog (Harley) and make her feel comfortable before we get started. The grooming service is good and very reasonably priced. Harley is usually ready to come home about 3-4 hours after dropping her off and is always in great spirits when I pick her up. Read Less

Everyone there is so pleasant and they made my cats appointment quick and non stressful for both of us. I'm sold! Gone are the days of feeling like cattle in overcrowded waiting rooms and long lines! City Vet was a quiet, calming place to bring my sick Doxie. The historical building is crisp and cheery in decor and the staff are welcoming, warm and friendly. I was a new patient and it was so easy to come here, Jennifer took all my information over the phone, the visit itself was so smooth - I was into a patient room within 5 minutes of arrival, and very short waiting times to see the tech and the Dr. They made sure I was well informed on all of their recommendations. So far so good! Everyone was friendly, starting with the lovely lady that answered the phone and helped make my appointment. The assistant who came in to start the check up on my fuzzy friends was kind and very personable. She was professional answering all my questions while simultaneously showing love to my girls. The veterinarian was running late due to being held up in surgery. And since I'd rather they not rush taking care of someone else's fuzzy friends, least of all my own should the situation ever arise. I was just fine waiting. Both the vet and assistant answered more of my questions and tossed out advice as they saw needed. They were both awesome! I love the staff and Dr. Baskerville! I've been taking my cat there for a couple of years, and I've boarded him there too. Some vets will treat cats as second class citizens, but not this place! They really care about  them. They also don't lecture me for having an indoor/outdoor cat because they understand that he used to be stray. They aren't judgmental; just helpfulIt's a historic downtown building and looks beautiful from the outside, but inside the floors are cement, and they haven't been painted for a while, so the place gives off a bit of a run-down impression. I imagine that they don't do much to make the floors look nice because they have to hose them down regularly after all of the animal traffic. However, despite the other person's complaint here, everything is absolutely clean. I wouldn't leave my cat there if it weren't!Update: Dr. Baskerville is gone on military duty, and the new vet that my cat's seeing, Dr. Stephens, is also great. The staff was very friendly but the facility is dirty and not well kept.  I had my appointment scheduled for 1015 and did not see the vet until 1115.  When we did see him he was very thorough and polite. The two stars is directly related to cleanliness. Read Less
