Converse Animal Hospital

San Antonio, Texas
General Info
Converse Animal Hospital in San Antonio orchestrates every pet interaction from initial exam room scent to discharge check using sensory logic and behavioral pacing across Texas. Upon arrival pets gain permission to investigate their environment. Scent-mapping slow movements and selective engagement are all welcomed as part of the process. The clinical team observes the animal's responses to floor texture variations alongside ceiling acoustic properties and vertical presence factors. Each visit presents unique unfolding patterns—some start with gentle palpation while others commence through visual exams or social acclimation techniques. Pet owners are encouraged to disclose intricate details such as their pet's preferred resting spots at home along with the specific noises their pets avoid and the altered rhythms of mealtime routines. Converse Animal Hospital offers a range of services such as injury evaluation and immune system diagnostics alongside muscle elasticity checks and sensory aversion handling combined with chronic illness co-management. Examination formats undergo modifications according to breath cycles, freeze signals, gaze breaks, or limb withdrawal. Every examination chamber comes equipped with instruments for immediate adjustment including movable stools, variable lighting systems, and optional partitions to minimize visual distractions. Care does not end with the procedure—it concludes with decompression. Pets receive a reorientation period before departure. Behavioral pacing guides provide owners with intricate instructions on the timing for reintroducing stimuli and offering food or touch while identifying signs of emotional lag or physical soreness. Converse Animal Hospital collaborates with San Antonio pets and those from nearby Texas regions to make sure every visit phase including entry treatment and recovery aligns with animals' understanding of movement space and sequence.

My fiance took my 13 week old pup there for shots, they where told we did not want him to receive the lepto shot. Because he's mother has a severe reaction to it. It was noted in his file. The assistant giving the shots mistakenly gave it to him. She was honest and truly upset she had made such a mistake. The clinic did give my lil buddy a shot for pain. But about an hour and half later he started having reactions to the shot, throwing up, in a lot of pain and a fever of around 109 he was in a large amount of distress. She called the clinic back and the person who answered could hear the pup in pain and said she would have the vet call right back. An hour and half later my fiance calls back again person answering phone is shocked that the vet had not called the the phone beeped in and was the vet. She said the vomiting concerned her but that we had 20 min to get there because she was leaving at 5 and aftér that we would have to take him to after hours emergency clinic. Very distant and seamed to be more concerned about going home than the well being of our pup that was sick because her clinic have a shot we did not want to give him to have and it was documented. Lucky for them when I got home from work at 8pm arox 6 hours later he was still in pain. I stayes up worring and checking on him a lot. We will NEVER USE THEM AGAIN!!! Thank God he was was back to normal in 2 days. And the truly sad thing is we never got a call to inquire if Axel was feeling better. All I can say is it iss great he got better if I would have had to take him to emergency clinic they would be paying a bill and if worse would have happened ,it would have been bad, we had been going there for years a shame that a vets attitude and lack of compassion will cost them in the end because our three Boston's won't be back. Went to the vet because my dog had dry skin and had scratched himself severely. A rude veterinarian attended my dog. She didn't seem concerned and seemed rather annoyed. I'm surprised she even bothered to tell me what was wrong with my dog. She didn't even offer an option on how to treat my dog and I had to ask her instead. When she said that my dog could be treated she didn't tell me how. She only spoke to me for not even five minutes and then she left. I waited for fifteen minutes for her to come back. She never came back and instead someone else was sent to me. This other person gave me the invoice and told me that that was it. Took our dog once because a friend recommended CAH. I needed to have his knee or hips checked out. The doctor didn't see much wrong on the xrays but quickly suggested that my dog needed teeth cleaning and a skin tag removed $1100. I agreed to this and would return in a month. I called to verify the appointment and they said it would be an additional $156 to have another doctor come and review the xrays while my dog was under during the teeth cleaning. All this even before anything has been done. Probably being scammed!! Read Less

OMG you can expect the general staff to be incompetent, however the doctors are so stupid I will never return. I could go on and on- I was given no pre surgery instructions for diabetic dog until I asked about it- the doctor is incorrect that tramadol is a horrible drug with bad side effects as tramadol is well tolerated by dogs and plenty of vets prescribe tramadol as a better alternative to anti inflammatory drugs that ARE horrible drugs for dogs. the doctors here talk down to you and fear anyone who has done the homework. these doctors are intimidated by critical thinkers. I suspect they hate the internet because it empowers the customer to knowledge of correct health care. the doctor also told me human insulin is better for a dog than vetsulin which is total nonsense- vetsulin is conducive to a dog diabetic and human insulin is not- as a doctor she should 'know that'- my advice STAY AWAY finally ,the same doctor told me to let a melanoma sit there on my dogs skin- hello- a lay person knows if you let a melanoma sit there without being removed the cancer spreads rapidly- just mind blowing now they have refused to give me a itemized bill that i am entitled to know what I was charged for it is deceptive trade practice to refuse to tell me what I was charged for they are being sued for dtpa this week Read Less

We have a very special needs dog, and this place is very accommodating. We have been taking our pets to this vet since 2000, and hope they are around a long time!

Good vets. All vets r expensive now. They charge for every exam, n it really adds up.

I brought my cat, Atticus, in and was a walk in. Even though it was a little later in the morning they were able to take him and, I only waited twenty minutes. They answered all of my questions and, didn't make me feel stupid or bad about the situation in anyway. They were quick and, very polite. The price was very affordable considering the exam itself is 45$. The walk in fee was 13$ and, he had two different shots and, I purchased flee medicine and a cone. I was very happy with the whole experience. Read Less

Read Less

Go there! My animals are so important to me and I want the best of care for them. I have both cats and dogs. I was new to the area and needed a vet. I looked on line, this was close and had good reviews so I tried it. I've been going ever since! Fantastic staff and Doctors, compassionate, knowledgable and skilled with the owner being one of them, she's terrific! They also board and offer military and seniors a discount on vaccines on certain days of the week and call you to follow up on how your pet is doing after major treatments. You'll be in good hands there!
