Amazing vet and staff, Dr. Nichols has been there a long time and knows his stuff. I met him through Liz and she exclusively took her and her families animals there since at least 1990. This is also a veteran owned establishment which I always like to support. On rare occasions parking may be a little tight but give them 5 minutes and it this out. Also they don't overbook here, so if you make an appointment you actually get to keep your appointment. They also are forgiving on running behind (within reason). All around great people doing great stuff. Read Less

We have a brindle-coloured American Staffordshire Terrier Bulldog; and these folks are really trying to help us care for her. She is a real sweetheart. And only 82.5 pounds of puppy. The only thing I didn't/don't like about them is that they categorize her as a 'Pit Bull' without considering the there are 11 breeds, her in America, that have been misused and abused over time by unscrupulous individuals as fighting dogs. And thus, all of these dogs were mistakenly painted with an 'evil' brush. I am working to correct this misrepresentation of MY loving puppy. And still, I give them a 5 of 5 rating. Read Less

Incredible staff. The friendliness & kindness shown to me by the receptionist made me know I'd made the right decision in my fur babies medical care. Because I live with two Frenchies, I have to be extremely choosy about the clinic I go too. Well, I can state in 100% honesty, best vet clinic I've ever been too. Dr. Nicholas came into the room, we visited a bit about me being stationed overseas. We reminisced about us both attending school, & living in the same country. He's prior service & has family in. This means the world to me as a Brat & a Federal employee that is passionate about our Military. His staff talked with me & visited with my girls before we started. It was the best experience I've ever had at a Vet Clinic. I'm so happy. I'll recommend them to anyone stationed here in San Antonio. They are the best IMO!!!Thank you to everyone at Crestview Animal Clinic. You have a new family. Read Less

I have taken all of my animals to Dr. Nichols for years. He is so friendly and helpful. My dog needed a higher fiber diet. Instead of trying to sell me some expensive fiber pills, he told me to give her canned pumpkin or steamed carrots with her food. It has worked great. He treats me as if I were one of his friends when I go in there and genuinely cares about my animals. His staff is super friendly as well. When one if my dogs passed away after old age and having cancer and seizures, Dr. Nichols and his staff offered all offered their sincere condolences. He listens to every single thing I need to tell him about my cat and dog. I've been to veterinarians before that just walk in, look at the dog, prescribe something expensive and hand me his outrageous bill. Doc Nichols isn't like that at all. This quack Ed Nichols has been under multiple investigations by the state veterinary board. Don't be fooled by his friends and family leaving these bogus five star reviews. He's desperate to conceal the truth of what he really is. He is a living nightmare of incompetence and negligence hidden under a "nice guy" act. You will never know when he is lying to you. I didn't. When I exposed him he sued me in a vicious lawsuit, trying to get an injunction to take away my First Amendment rights. He failed. He then appealed, and he failed again. Three expert vets confirmed his horrendous mistreatment of my cat which led to her death, including operating on her without my knowledge or consent. Vicious, vindictive, temper tantrums that you will never see until you catch him in the act, and then it's too late for your pet. AVOID. Read Suki's Story. Read Less

Dr. Nichols was great with my Persian cat. He is familiar with the breed, and recommended a care plan to help manage my cats respiratory issues. I worked at a vet's office in the past, and from everything I saw in the clinic, it was operated well by a friendly and courteous staff. Everyone from the receptionist to the vet tech was pleasant and knowledgeable. I've had issues with other vets in the past being unnecessarily rough with my cat during treatment to restrain him, and Dr. Nichols didn't do any of that; he managed to give my cat Corky his injections without him even noticing that he was getting shots. I would highly recommend Crestway Animal Clinic to anyone in the Northeast San Antonio/Converse area. Read Less

AVOID AVOID AVOID. BUYER BEWARE. This place has had serious problems and Ed Nichols is one of the worst vets imaginable. He has been under multiple investigations by the Texas state board but gets away with it because he is an accomplished liar and has his friends posting ridiculous reviews about how great he is because the truth of what he has been for so many years has finally caught up with him.. Forget these little touchy feely reviews about old ladies and their dead pets. That's what this vampire feeds on. YOU WANT THE FACTS? Read what he did to a cat at The Veterinary Abuse Network and there are other victims too. He then sued the owner of that cat to try to silence her in a vicious, vindictive lawsuit for almost three years and failed to get an injunction against her. THIS IS ALL PUBLIC RECORD so all of his claims that his victims are liars, "disgruntled," crazy, etc. are limp and lame. He knows his faithful clients will believe whatever crap comes out of his mouth without checking the FACTS. Nichols is a BULLY who uses his wealth to try to silence his critics, but there is confirmation by three expert vets in writing how many ways he violated the standard of care in his excessive mistreatment of Suki. ONCE YOUR PET IS DEAD HE CAN TELL YOU ANYTHING HE WANTS AND YOU WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO TELL WHEN HE IS LYING. Once your pet is dead there won't be any "second opinons" to mess up his little routine.. Suki fought for her life for a week with other vets trying to undo the damage Nichols had done, but it was too late. They knew what he had done to her because she was STILL ALIVE even after being gassed by Nichols and pumped full of steroid to make her look better. "Caring"? Suki lay dying in a cage at Crestway for hours, dying slowly of dehydration, anemia, and kidney failure after Nichols put her under anesthesia - PROOF is on his patient chart in his own handwriting that he gassed her with halothane and nitrous oxide without IV fluids or consent from the owner. He later admitted in a deposition that he decides when to get consent from the owner. Suki died but not before leaving behind evidence of what he had done to her for such a long time. Read about the LAWSUIT he filed to try to bully the owner into taking down Suki's story. He failed. Go to Veterinary Abuse Network to get the REAL STORY ON ED NICHOLS AND CRESTWAY ANIMAL CLINIC. NOT ALL HIS MONEY AND LAWYERS COULD SILENCE THE TRUTH. If you love your pet AVOID AVOID AVOID this liar with a good act and the people around him who protect him because he signs their paychecks. I WILL REGRET THIS THE REST OF MY LIFE. If you truly love and care for your pet that's probably why you chose to Google Dr. Edward Nichols to see how many "STARS" he has. Unfortunately I didn't have time because I needed a vet right away. PLEASE do not go here. If you do not take my advice, I'm sure you will find Dr. Nichols to be so sweet and caring, that you will think I'm MEAN for writing a bad review about a "nice old man". The truth is, I owe it to my dog to write this so other pet owners, and especially their pet's won't have to suffer like my dog and family has. If you have a child that needed surgery, and you Googled a surgeon that had a total of 20 reviews. Let's say 14 GOOD and 6 BAD, would you choose that surgeon, or look for another? Anyone in their right mind who loves their child would keep searching. And with social networking nowadays you can find out more about someone than just how many STARS they have on reviews. Choose a different one as you would in choosing a surgeon for your child. STARS don't mean anything. After my dog died I finally Googled Dr. Nichols. I found detailed proof and information of what Crestway Animal Clinic's nice old man did to a cat name Suki. Thankfully the owner of Suki posted "Suki's Story" so people can see PROOF of what he did to this poor cat. People who choose "STARS" could end up with a vet like Dr. Nichols, so please, if you love your pet like a kid then do your research more thoroughly. There are so many other vet's in the area. There are no words to describe how incompetent, negligent, and terminally stupid this quack Edward J. Nichols, Crestway Animal Clinic is. What he did to my cat defies description, performing unauthorized and dangerous surgery on her under anesthesia without my knowledge or consent, and then leaving her in a cage to die while never once notifying me. I got her to FOUR OTHER VETS who tried to save her but it was too late. She died a horrible death. Nichols has been under investigation by the state board of Texas but slimed his way out of it, and then came after me with bottom-feeding lawyers to try to get a permanent injunction to silence me from telling Suki's Story. HE FAILED TO DO SO, and I will tell her story forever. Three expert opinions put in writing how many ways this QUACK breached the standard of care. These phony 5 star reviews are from family and friends (e.g. Saenz is an in-law). I cannot overstress this enough: AVOID THIS VET. He is a living, breathing nightmare who should retire already. i came back to San Antonio and needed to take my dog to Dr. Nichols and see his hours and found this negative write up about him...I am so surprized that a person could be so wrong about a person. I have been using Dr Nichols well over 13 years even before I came to San Antonio. He has been the best. When my first dog was poisoned by a neighbor Dr Nichols went so far to save him and I cound see the pain and anguish in his eye thru this whole ordeal. Since he has cared for all my animals and is the best in love and car for all of them. I have left San Antonio and come back several times and always have gone to him for his kindness. This doctor even when I had no money has treated my animals and his primary care is the health and welfare of all the animals even when he cannot collect payment for his services. To accuse such a kind and personal doctor of abuse is beyond me and in my heart I feel it to be so very false. Such defamation is not only hurting a great doctor but the animals he cares for as well. It is not every day that you will find the medical care of a doctor for human or animal alike that will put himself out and the animal first and not turn them away for lack of payment. He has even rescued animals of abouse and personally taken it upon himself for their medical attention, their nutrition and housing needs as well. People I implore you to go to this doctor with your pet, you will see for yourself and trust in your heart that your naimal could not be in better care elsewhere.
