I have been taking my fur babies here for eleven years! My pets always receive compassionate, top-notch care. I love that the vets stay up to date on the latest procedures. They also take the time to explain everything in the detail I need. I've had lots of pets and used to move around a lot -- so lots of vets. This practice is far and away the best I've ever been to. I have been using Family Pet Hospital for about 10 years. They have cared for many pets of mine including dogs and cats, ferrets, rabbits and a turtle. It's so nice to have vets who are so knowledgeable about such a variety of animals. The staff is warm and caring, and take excellent care of all of their patients. I never have any concerns that they are in great hands. I have needed to take two of my dogs through emergency surgery and have also had several rescue dogs go through heart worm treatment and other intense treatments and everyone did amazing! Really really wonderful facility, knowledgeable staff, kind, caring compassionate doctors, and it's always clean, peaceful and quiet inside. Everyone is so nice, and remembers you and your pets when you walk in the door. Their prices are alittle high, and the traffic can make it difficult to get there on time sometimes, but thats not their fault, and you definitely get what you're paying for with this facility and team. ..Frustrated with this place!  Finding a new vet is challenging enough and when they can not properly inform pet owners over the phone ALL of the 100 vaccines needed and the overpriced cost, surprise!  He needs this vaccine and 3 weeks later a booster and you were expecting the cost to include what you already paid for?  I had no idea he needed this vaccine and booster.  I had no idea of the cost I had no idea he needed to come back for a booster and I had no idea I would have to pay for that booster as well.  Why, because they didn't tell me.  Luckily, I found another place who is competent enough to take the time and inform me.  And won't charge for consults.  Who does that?!  This place!  The previous states we lived in AZ, KS and OK, don't require this booster.  If I got a vaccine, I would have to pay for it once not repay for the booster.  Use the low cost clinic instead.  The gentleman groomer was much more informative and very nice, too bad he works here because I am never going back. The staff and Dr took in our cat for an emergency when we our current vet was unable to help us. Even though we had never been there before, they took care of our kitty like he was their own. Don't go to Family Pet Hospital of Stone Oak. They are only MONEY oriented and they don't care about the animals. I wanted to talk to the owner and he wanted to charge me for talking to him. The reason why I wanted to talk to the owner, was because they groomed my Cocker too short and he began to scratch crazily, but they said that they had to charge me for a consultation to check what he had. Family Pet Hospital is simply amazing. From the staff up front to the staff that goes unseen, there is nothing but smiles and carelessness. I boarded my dog there with a few extra play times purchased for their "decked out" backyard and pool! I was told and even saw a few pictures of my little one having such a blast. We were not even patients there, but a couple weeks ago when our cat went into distress, they got us in right away and were so caring and compassionate as my family of four was in their office in tears. Our cat ended up dying a few minutes after we got there, and they helped us arrange for cremation and they took care of everything for us. We found out from a friend that they lit a candle in the waiting room in honor of our cat and our family's mourning. That really touched us. A few days later, we received a card in the mail from the doctors with a copy of the Rainbow Bridge poem. When we picked up Duchess' ashes today, they also gave us an impression of her paw prints with her name beautifully written in gold at the top. We will have this keepsake forever and it was something they did on their own without charging us for it. It was pouring rain as we were leaving and the lady at the front grabbed two umbrellas and escorted us to our car so that we wouldn't get soaked. I am so impressed by how the entire staff goes above and beyond for their patients! I will be taking all of my pets here from now on. Read Less

I just started bringing my pet here and this vet seems very thorough. I have a French bulldog and I was informed about potential things to watch out for during her life that I was never informed of by the breeder. ( very disappointing). My rating is based primarily on two things that I know could improve emensly if the doctors/owners would change this. First, have friendly, enthusiastic front desk staff who answers the phone which is the first experience between a client or potential client with your business. More specifically, Amber is unfriendly, never smiles, is unenthusiastic about helping someone and often comes off rude or smart alec. Then there is what I consider the worst part of your practice and the is the GROOMER Michael. He is utterly rude, disrespectful, disinterested, and DOES NOT LISTEN TO HOW ONE WANTS THEIR PET GROOMED!!! He was this way several months ago when we brought our dog in for grooming. I thought he just might be having a bad day so gave him another try and he was even worse this time!!! He is supposed to be some certified groomer, then why are my dogs back of ears burned they are shaved so short. The bottom of my dog was raw with razor burn and the pink skin showing through the hair was cut down so short. I asked for a Summer cut and asked for extra hair to be left on the face, head, and tail and all three areas were mowed down so close to the skin, the dog has been scratching and biting her body parts since we came home. I have had to apply a topical medicated cream with pain reliever to settle her down. Besides his not listening to a word I said with regard to the cut, he is always rushed, impatient, unfriendly, disinterested, and just flat out rude. The man just doesn't fit with the calibre of service one expects from a Stone Oak/Sonterra Vet Hospital and obviously does not fit well when dealing with pet owners who are paying a premium for veterinary care for their pets and are used to be treated with respect. If changes aren't made in these two areas of customer service, our family is taking our business elsewhere. Read Less

She listened to all of my questions and concerns - conveyed that to the doctors and got back to me immeadiately.Dr Wooley was informative, compassionate, and took the time to ensure my dog had the best care possible!This has been a terrible time for my dog and I came for a second opinion. I have taken my dog to Family Pet Hospital of Stone Oak since 2009. My experience with the Vets, Vet Techs, and Admin staff has been great! However, I can not say the same for my experience with the grooming staff. I have an English Cocker Spaniel. A few years ago I had my dog groomed there after a boarding stay. He looked awful when I picked him up . . . the hair on his body and ears had been improperly cut. Needless to say, I didn't make a big deal of it, I simply found a better groomer. Because my dog just had a few medical procedures done within the last two weeks and had to wear a collar, I thought it wise to have him boarded there again since the staff is familiar with his medical history. Prior to pick up, I called and asked that he be given a bath. I was totally shocked by his appearance when I picked him up! The hair on his ears had been totally shaved. The excuse given was that his ears were severely matted from wearing the collar, which I dispute because I'd just brushed them out prior to boarding!!! At any rate, I don't understand how a bath request turned into him getting his ears fully shaved WITHOUT my permission!!! I am outraged and do not recommend the grooming services at Family Pet Hospital of Stone Oak at all!!! Read Less

This was the first place we brought our kitty Oliver! You can't beat the great location, beautiful facility and friendly staff! They are a very busy animal clinic but have a large staff ready and willing to help. Angie and Justin have been both knowledgeable and helpful during all of our visits. Even responding to emails after hours. You'd think our pet was theirs. You really do feel like you're part of their family! If you're a first time pet owner with lots of questions or if you just really love your pet, this is the place to bring them! They'll be in great hands! The doctors are the best! Read Less

I went here the other day with my dog and had a great experience.  The staff was very friendly and understanding when I didn't have an appointment and I was able to be seen pretty quickly. Been here waiting 32 minutes for the doctor - despite being here on time for our scheduled appointment.   This happens a lot here.   Also, I'm not a fan of how they try to act like car salesmen with their pitches and up selling everything. Read Less

I have been bringing my pets here for about 9mo and have been satisfied with the service, so I made them our vet clinic. Today (Friday), I arrived at 6:07pm (they close at 7), with my 4lb yorkie who has a red abscess on her spay incision that is oozing. I showed it to the receptionist and asked if a vet can look at it. I was told that the veterinarians are busy and will not be able to see her until Monday. (Again... I didn't call. We were physically there). I asked if there was anywhere else she could suggest. She recommended an afterhours clinic, but she heard they had bad reviews. I understand that clinics do get busy. And although there was only one other person in the lobby, they may have had patients in the back. But, when I moved to SA, I was looking for a vet clinic that would care about my pets. We have been there for checkups & shots. But this was my first time actually NEEDING them, and they turned us away an hour before close. Wouldn't even glance at the possibility of an infection. What sets them aside from any other vet clinic? I now know it is not their eagerness and willingness to care for my pet. I guess my $50-70 for the visit wasn't enough money for them to risk the possibility of staying later, even if it meant my dog would be ok. They turned us away like my dog didn't matter. Horrible customer service. Haven't even worked with them yet but after speaking with Amber I will never call back there again! I called Amber answered and left me on hold for over 5 minutes, I called back (maybe she forgot I was on line) she answered again and asked if can place me on hold again? Asked if there was someone else to talk to and she then proceeded to tell me she was the only person there (very rude) she sounded put off by even answering. I gave her my number so she could call me back and before I could even finish my sentence she hung up on me. Won't be calling or going to this office anytime soon!Read Less

I had done business with this clinic for several years with different animals. The doctors are VERY knowledgable and very courteous to both my pet and me. However, I recently just had a very bad experience that has cost them my business. I made an appointment several days in advance and the receptionist had clearly stated the time to me about three times. I requested time off for work for that specific time so I can make it to my appointment. However, ten minutes before I head over to the clinic for my appointment, I get a call stating that my dog will not be seen anymore because I am late. Apparently, the receptionist wrote me down 20 minutes in advance from what she had previously told me. All they could say was "well sorry". I'm extremely upset about this. I missed two hours of work for nothing, and my dog will not be able to be seen when I really needed him to be checked. The receptionist who called me to let me know my appointment was now cancelled, said that they called the day before to let me know. Granted, I don't have their number saved on my phone, they could have at least left me a voicemail to let me know who called and for what reason (I rarely answer to unknown numbers due to spam and marketing). The way they handled this and the way they seemed to not care instantly reinforced my decision to take my business somewhere else. Read Less

We decided to adopt a stray from our neighborhood today and took him in today for a checkup. The drop in process is very easy and convenient and they do same day drop ins if you bring your pets in early enough. We picked him up before closing and spoke with Dr Stewart, who is an awesome lady. We got great customer service and our new baby boy was well taken care of. Very nice & knowledgable staff. You can tell they genuinely care about your animal. I took my sick pup in today & while it took about half an hour to be seen, I was out of there in about an hour. I'm a nurse & very protective over my dog & they let me watch everything they were doing (blood samples, injections, etc.) rather than take her to a mysterious room (which is also an option if you prefer that). They were upfront about the cost of care & even quoted me on future visits & treatments! Will definitely return & recommend. Read Less

What a disgrace to all good vets out there! They whole staff is unprofessional and rude! I took my English Bulldog puppy there today bc he was sick. They start rambling on about all these diff things it could be bc but couldn't give me an answer or a treatment. So they wanted to run every test which I agree to. They say it will be a few hours and that I could come back. So I ask to pay my bill and the front desk tells me to pay when I get him. So I leave and my wife calls me to ask what they said and I tell her what they said and the price. She called them and spoke to Amber about payment plans. Amber says they don't offer payment plans. Literally after they hang Amber from the family pet hospital calls me and tells me SINCE I CANT AFFORD THE INITIAL TREATMENT THEY CAN CUT OUT SOME OF THE MEDS AND FOODS TO GET THE BILL DOWN. I say what!?!?!? Amber says they WILL NOT TREAT MY DOG UNTIL I COME BACK AND PAY THEM FIRST. I say excuse me.... I just tried to pay and you told me to pay when I pick him up. I tell her I'm confused as to why I'm getting this call. She says WELL YOUR WIFE CALLED ASKING ABOUT PAYMENT PLANS AND WE DONT DO THAT STUFF HERE! THAT I NEED TO PUT MYSELF IN THE OWNERS SHOES AND REALIZE THE COST OF EVERYTHING THEY DO AND FOR PEOPLE LIKE ME WHO ARE NOT FINANCIALLY ABLE TO PAY FOR THE SERVICES!!!! I said don't you ever speak to me like that, I never nor did my wife ever say we could not pay for our dogs treatment there! I told Amber that she needs to show some respect to the customer. SHE SAYS WELL YOUR WIFE IS ACTING LIKE YOU CANT PAY AND YOU ARE SAYING YOU CAN PAY FOR IT SO WE ARE NOT TREATING YOUR DOG UNTIL YOU PAY. By this time I lost it and told her I would be right there to get my dog and pay for the test they have completed, to not touch my dog . SHE THEN SAYS THATS FINE COME GET YOUR DOG. Never ever in my life have I ever encountered such a lack of professionalism especially from the Doctor bc she was fully aware of the conversation. So they refused to treat my dog bc my wife asked a question about payment plans..... Makes me wonder and question their treatment of all of the animals that's go there. I came here as a last resort because my other vet was closed. Truthfully I just expected it to be a high end stone oak vet! Well I'm glad I didn't judge a book by its cover! The staff was very nice, and friendly. The dr exam was extremely thorough and they showed me problems my old vet had missed for years. I had no idea my dog was a picky eater because she had a broken tooth that appeared very old! Long story short we sedated her and removed the tooth and she is doing great and now I can't get her to stop eating :/! I'm switching vets! Read Less

If I could give them ZERO stars I would!! I am livid right now after the treatment of both of my pets. When I first brought my dog in it was after she was diagnosed with the early stages of heart failure. They gave me hope that she would still have a longer life and even prescribed me a $100 bottle of pills that was supposed to make her life expectancy longer up to TWO years! She didn't even make it through another month and then told me they wouldn't refund me any of the bottles of pills. On top of that when I took her in because she wasn't breathing well she stayed all day at the vet... When I got there they took forever to get me to the back to see her and say my goodbyes and I had less than 10 minutes with her before we put her to sleep.... The entire front staff is unfriendly and rude and just don't seem to know anything either. Well I decided to give them another chance when I adopted a new puppy and brought him in. They didn't even look over his records at all. And they stuck me in the same room that I had put my dog to sleep in just the week before and the vet said to me "looks like you got over that quickly". I was emotional still and that made it worse. On top of that because they didn't look over his records they charged me for a culture that was already done at the shelter. His first visit was almost $200 which was absurd. And they told me he had a heart murmur and the ECHO was going to be over $500... After I just spent several thousand on my previous dog. They were taking advantage of my emotional state. I've had two other vets check on him and there is NOT a heart murmur and the vaccine I originally went in for they didn't even give it to him! THEY GAVE HIM THE WRONG VACCINE!!! DO NOT GO TO THIS VET UNLESS YOU WANT UNFRIENDLY, RUDE PEOPLE STEALING YOUR MONEY AND TAKING ADVANTAGE OF YOU ANYWAY THEY CAN! Read Less

I have been taking my pets to Family Pet Hospital for 14 years.  They have seen all of my pets, including numerous dogs, cats, ferrets, and a tortoise.  They have taken us through torn ACLs, intestinal blockages, dental work, pregnancies, ear infections, and of course the more routine treatments such as vaccinations and annual exams.  The vets at this practice are incredibly dedicated, and continually go above and beyond what could possibly be expected by any client.  They attend several conferences annually in order to stay on top of the latest information.  Dr. Woolley is one of the few vets in this area that will see exotics as well as domestic animals.  The vets take the time to thoroughly examine your pets, and answer any questions you might have.  You will appreciate the extra time they take with you, and can sense immediately the genuine care they have for your pets.  If you aren't able to wait for an appointment, you have the option of dropping off your pets.  That can be very handy if you have a tight schedule.  I put total trust in the vets at this hospital for all of my animals. I have had to run to them with some emergency cases, and they have always been there for me.  They have done several surgeries for me, and the procedure and follow up are first class.I would recommend this veterinary hospital to everyone!!!  You will know that your pets are well cared for and treated with kindness. I can't brag enough about the staff here at Family Pet Hospital. They are a little expensive, but you totally get your money's worth. The staff is friendly, caring, and attentive. Dr. Woolley is amazing and stayed overnight to perform an additional lifesaving surgery on my shih tzu in 2014, and saved my poor kitty who had a total urethral blockage. Dr. Woolley has been caring for animals for over 30 years! They are awesome and I recommend Family Pet Hospital to anyone who loves their pet! Read Less

I took my cat boots here to be spayed  and everyone was very welcoming and the doctors were very informative and answered all my questions. The majority of my conversations were with technicians before and after the procedure , but each one was very knowledgable and if they didn't know something they found out the answer.  Plus they sent me home with plenty of pain medication so my little boots was very comfortable when she came home. They are a little more expensive , but when I called around they also offer way more. I will def be back w my dog when he needs his rabies vaccine. Read Less

I had called and ask for boarding prices, sounded reasonable, so I left my dog there. (I had used them once three years ago and my dog came back really thin). I only left him there for 4nights this time- they do not allow any of your pets bedding or food bowls. I thought i'd give it a second chance.The front desk staff is not very friendly or informative. When I picked up my dog they charged me more then what they had quoted me at the time of my reservation. It was late in the day, so I called them the next day, spoke to the supv. and she told me I had misunderstood the information they gave me! Really? She refused to refund the overcharge, also my dog came back with fleas! When I mentioned it to her, she stated that there was no way he could have picked them up from there, seriously? My pet did not have fleas at the time of drop off. She also said, if he had them they would have noticed, treated him then charged me, what?? They were going to charge me, for infecting my dog? We had a bad experience here. Double checked that the dr was familiar with our dog's medical condition, which we were told he was. Made an appointment to meet with him but when we arrived we were told he wasn't coming in until later and the tech that we were going to see had to first "look up" her condition. Completely unacceptable. Our dog has a very serious and painful medical issue and after calling numerous vets to find the one MOST competent to treat her, we were given a bait and switch by these guys, and they scheduled us with a tech that obviously had no idea how to treat her. In addition, on our way out (because we left without being seen because I'm not paying out of pocket to have someone look at my dog who knows LESS about her condition than I do) the office "manager" was complaining about me in the back room. I let the nice girl behind the counter know that she should inform her mgr that you can hear every word spoken in the back room, out front. Amateur hour at this place. And the exam room they made us wait in for 40 minutes was filthy. What a waste of time. We will obviously never be going back. Read Less

My (and my dog's) first vet appt. I was on the search for affordable, reliable, and close to my residence. Didn't find spectacular reviews on any places nearby, so I gave this a try. Great first visit! Their vaccines/shots as well as meds pricing was very competitive compared to others that publish theirs online. The doctor was so knowledgeable and gave me excellent tips on keeping a healthy dog. She even suggested preventative measures I could perform to avoid coming in for procedures. I noticed multiple people come in to pick up their pets from boarding, so it must be a popular spot for that service. The only downer is a typical for vets -- expensive surgery costs. They presented their numbers ($$$) for the recommended procedure, but didn't pressure me to follow through.I would recommend anyone be welcome to try this place out without fear. Read Less
