We've been taking our pets here for years. That being said this is more for convenience since Dr. Graham left. They push having everything being done, even for older animals who are close to passing. Very critical if you have a more relaxed/ old school way taking care of animals. I'm not talking about standard shots or maintenance. They have also gotten more expensive and not as good explaining things or even just setting up appointments. Few to no weekend hours. Only do more general things. Read Less

The place was very clean and the people were very friendly. They explained everything they were doing and gave us the prescriptions they recommended, etc. Overall a good experience! We even got a "kitten package" that included shots for our new kitten, and the plan they gave us for the next costs and neutering were understandable and cohesive. Pretty good! Read Less

This is a nice clean friendly place. Not sure why the negative reviews. I just moved here and had to board my dog asap. They gave my dog his required shots and boarded him right away. The prices are very reasonable and I will keep bringing my dog here. They even let me go inspect the kennels and the play area in the back. Read Less

A little over a year ago my son and I unfortunately had to experience the loss of our beloved Gizmo due to a canine vs car accident. Since I was there to witness the accident, I took Gizmo to the closest veterinary clinic I could find which was Potranco Veterinary clinic. When I came in with Gizmo and a jacket that I wrapped him up in, the clinic was full and there were animals with there owners waiting. They saw me and the front desk staff immediately escorted me to a room. They pronounced Gizmo's death and gave me options for cremation. I don't mean to write a sob story, but I just wanted to let everyone know that if it wasn't for everyone in the clinics professionalism and passion on that day I wouldn't be taking my two Jack Russels to see them. Too Expensive. Dont seem to do a good diagnosis they dont tell you all it is. Try to do stuff thats not necessary and charge you for it. They wont write a prescription want you to buy meds through them and they sell them three times higher priced than HEB. Which is why I stopped going here and go to now to St. Francis of Assisi Vet. Med. Center is much better have other doctors other vetenerians.Read Less

I placed a deposit for my dogs to board with Potranco Vet Clinic last week for Memorial Day. My son decides not to go so I wanted to cancel my reservations but couldn't get my deposit because I didn't notify the clinic 24 hours in advance. Typical that would have been fine but as I explained to the office manager that it was never told to me nor is it written on the receipt. Her answer is "well that's or policy and the staff should of told me". I explained to her again if it was written I would have eaten my words and lost my $50 deposit but it isn't written nor did the young lady verbally tell me. She said again "well that's our policy and they tell everyone verbally". She also said that out of all their clients I am the only one who is not happy. She also said that if she made an exception for me she would have to for everyone. I said no and I do not see it written on the receipt. She then said a refund is not given especially on a holiday. She said this is our policy and we can review the option to put it in writing that there is a 24 hour notice prior to boarding cancellation of a refundable deposit. It's not so much the $50 but the fact that she would not admit that it really should be in writing to make it legal. If it was written and was proven to me with all the frustration that I have shown I would definitely apologize. What ever happened to the customer is always right? this was the worst visit I've ever experienced. I took my new puppy because she didn't look like she was doing well, at 4:30 and didn't leave till 7:30?!? all they did was run TWO test that they said would only take "10 minutes" and both times I wasn't gotten back to until 45 minutes after they took it. my dog was anxious and just wanted to leave. I was barley spoken to and not given much information. and I feel like I've been overcharged.they gave my dog NO take home medication which seemed odd to me but I went and paid and left. they told me to come back if my puppy showed certain signs. the next day she threw up but they were closed and I chose to take her to a 24 hour vet instead because it was urgent. They now have her staying the night there and will give me take home medication. and did tell me everything that went on here was not done well. very half a**. I paid $300 for absolutely nothing when I could've used that towards people who know what they're doing. On top of that I watched them take back & spay a 3 WEEK OLD puppy when in fact the age should be 6 MONTHS or older.I will not be returning and I would never recommend this place to anyone. Read Less

We Love Dr. Graham she is the greatest with our babies. We had several other vets, but we were blessed to find Protanco vet clinic and Dr Graham. professioal, courteous, caring, and reasonable. Truly a notch above the rest. Read Less

Coupon for first time visit is very deceiving. Don't tell me on the phone I can use it and when I pay I can't use it. Shady business! Just a scam to get you. Very disappointed. Will not recommend them to anybody. I hope they fix this.Read Less

I'm a new customer, paid quite a bit of money to establish care for my dog, this past Friday I tried calling to see about getting more HeartGuard and dogs nails trimmed, NO ANSWER ALL MORNING. I go by there, one car in the parking lot, the lights are off inside with the clerk at the desk claiming no doctors or techs available the whole day due to a seminar??? I asked her about answering the phones to explain to customers, she says they weren't answering phones either. So what does she get paid to do? Because of no staff available, I couldn't get Heartguard, couldn't get nails trimmed. I wasted my time going by there which could've been avoided if she was manning the phones. Business hours posted on their door and business cards says Monday thru Friday 7am-6pm. If nothing else, ANSWER PHONES. I need a business that is better in how they communicate and treat customers.Read Less

I love this clinic so much we have been taking our boy Toby here since he was 4 months old and he is now 8 years old.. Toby always looks forward to seeing all his girls at the clinic. They all know him by name and take such good care of our boy and our family, they are so loving and actually do care about Toby. He recently had surgery and the staff has been so amazing with us. We love Dr. Graham she has the touch in how to treat Toby and she is so knowledgeable. Tracy always takes the time to answer all of our questions and gives quality care, she always goes out of her way for us, she is the best!!! Picked up my dog from being kenneled for 2 nights and they tried to give him to me when he was covered in poop! Apparently he has pooped in his kennel (obviously he was sick because he NEVER does that) and they "hadn't had time to clean him up yet" when I had called an HOUR AND A HALF before to let them know I was on my way to get him! This vet clinic is NOT what it used to be. It is overcrowded, every time I go and HAVE an appointment I STILL end up waiting almost 45 minutes to be seen because they can't keep up with their amount of clients they schedule. I am very upset that I couldn't trust them to watch my dog for a few days, so I could go on vacation. Instead now I feel terrible that he was stuck in his cage stuck in his own filth all weekend. Time to find a new vet, and I encourage others to do the same. Ridiculous. Read Less

Took my dog here after having surgery from a specialist, and I just needed a replacement e-collar (he broke his and we wanted the vet grade one, since they aren't as easy to take off and the only specialist here in San Antonio are in stone oak so very far away). They would not just sell me one, so I had to take my bed written puppy who literally just had his hip broke in three places and pins placed in him to their office!! We waited over 30 minutes  and then they placed an e-collar a size too big on him. Definitely will never return here. I thought since they were close to my house it would be nice to stop in and try them. Certainly will never step foot in there again. I will continue driving to my fabulous vet on Babcock. Read Less

No stars!!!!! My wife took our dog to this place and they didn't allow her to go with our dog to the back. She explained the symptoms based on what we could tell we are not experts that's why we took our poor dog there. After an hour they come out like nothing and prescribe medicine for what they considered stomach problems. They didn't take any test or anything and charged is 350 dollars!!! Come to find out a few days later we take her to Becker animal hospital the vet tech just by touching her under belly felt something strange so he spoke to the doctor and the doctor also checked and asked us more questions turns out our poor dog may have bladder stones  which makes more sense and they at least before just giving us medicine are doing an X-ray test and pee test. Not just charging us for medicine because "they think" they know what my dog had. Never going to this place ever again!!!!! Just took our money and jumped to conclusions of we hadn't took our dog else were we could have had a real emergency! Horrible horrible place I wish I could get my money back lesson learned!!! Originally we were required to go to Potranco Vet Clinic when we adopted our two girls. The initial exams/meds were covered by our adoption agency. At first this place was great and very helpful. It started to go down hill a few months ago. We went in to bring on of our girls who had heartworm (Heartworm positive from the day of adoption.) The adoption agency and PVC had a deal that I would receive free heartworm care until the issue was resolved. Apparently, the two companies separated without giving out notice so on our most recent visit I was told after the treatment it was no longer going to be covered. So I was on the hook for the exam fees etc. While not a huge deal as I love my little girl and want her to get better, it would have been nice to know before going through with it. Not everybody would have had the cash on hand to pay for it. Like most people, we are trying to save where we can. I do a lot of Amazon shopping etc as it's convenient for our busy schedule and often saves us money. As such, we wanted to buy a year prescription of meds from 1-800-Petmeds. In total, we would have saved about $150 on the order. PVC denied the request. We went to this location and requested a written copy of our prescription which they also denied. While Texas does not carry a law stating they must honor our request, the AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association) does recommend it's members to honor the request of written prescriptions as it's a pro consumer action. When I tried to talk with them on the price of the prescriptions it as a flat no on any price change. No chance on meeting in the middle etc. Lastly, the office is going through multiple doctors at the moment. So for at least the time being, you won't have a single doctor experience that will remember you and your pet's uniqueness. Only what is written on our documents. Well I had been going here for a few years till today. I took my dog in and the vet a old lady was rude and very unprofessional.  She didn't want to help my dog which is in pain at the moment.  According to her she couldn't fit her into her schedule.  If you want a vet that doesn't care about animals/ your family member this is the place to go.  I will never step a foot in this place again our recommend it to anyone. NEGLIGENT!!!! I took my cat because he was limping and appeared to be sick. Dr. Padilla diagnosed him with arthritis and tried to sell me some pills for that. 3 days later my cat was dieing. I took him to another clinic and found out he had a massive infection of BB gun wound. They took him in for fluids and surgery right away and he was saved. I just do not know how bad of a vet you need to be not to see a wound!!! Read Less

We saw Dr. Graham for our 4 dogs annual shots. She was very nice and professional and didn't try to talk us into services the dogs didn't need. I feel some vets try and talk to you into unnecessary services and this wasn't the case. I love that they offer Military customers a 10% discount as well. They have a new receptionist working the front desk and she is so much friendlier than the previous one. All in all this was a very pleasant experience! We will be using them as our vet from now on! Have not been there in a while and honestly could not tell you which vet took care of my pets.  Have have dogs and cats vaccinated at what I thought was a reasonable price only place cheaper is through the city but that is a long wait.  have gotten good affordable care but have never needed anything major.  Have had to put down a good friend due to antifreeze poisoning and they were very compassionate and caring. I have to think someone is out to smear Potranco Vet. There are three reviews here that bash Jennifer Padilla and they all sound suspiciously familiar, like they were all written by the same person. I have been taking my animals to Potranco Vet for 10 years, and have never experienced any of what you said you experienced. Every time I go in, the waiting room and exam rooms are clean. The staff is very professional, I've never heard any yelling or seen any upset owners. Dr. Graham has treated my animals so, contrary to what you say, she does have something ""to do with the clinic."" She is very knowledgeable, and was always willing to listen to what I had to say, and following what our wishes were. She always gives us different options that are available, and does not try to persuade us to do anything. And when the time came for us to part with one of our beloved animals, she was very compassionate and gave my children plenty of time to say our goodbyes and mourn. Then a couple of days later we received a wonderful sympathy card in the mail. I couldn't ask for better treatment from any clinic, as from what I have received at Potranco Vet. Jennifer Padilla is dangerous. We took our puppy to the Potranco Vet Hospital. We asked for Dr. Graham. It turns out she owns the property but has nothing to do with the clinic. The lady at the front desk was plain rude, very unclean, and kept loosing the one piece of paper that we gave to her. Padilla made her entrance into the filthy and cramped exam room. She did not listen to a thing that we said and started giving a speech about how to treat our dog. She started to give the dog a shot and I asked what it was. She was not sure and had to get the tech to find the medication name. My wife and I were nervous by then and we asked to see the label--sure enough it was for cats--elderly cats. We asked Padilla about this and she went into a tizzy fit, right there in the clinic. Throwing papers and yelling at us that she was a doctor and we had no right to question her.We decided that she was right and that we would not ask the cost and left. The idiot sent us a bill. When my wife called about the bill the filthy lady at the front desk could not find it. Tuff ... The Padilla idiot is licensed, we checked, but who knows how she got the thing (this is San Antonio friends). I have been taking my animals (cats and dogs) to Dr. Graham for 6 years and can't imagine taking them elsewhere. They have always been kind, caring and considerate of my pets needs and my family's feelings. We had a cat who got very sick, needed extreme care and an operation. The staff and Dr. Graham were very understanding of our needs and helped us through our grieving process. Dr. Graham is awesome when it comes to animals and as a person she's very involved in our community. If you live in this area and have pets, Potranco Vet Clinic is the place to go! Read Less

I run a rescue and have depended on this vet hospital for their advice, concern, and support for many year. You couldn't ask for a better group. Do they have bad days?....Sure, but from what I can tell the problem is from the fact they don't gouge the pocket book and they understand the plite of person in love with their pet but can't afford expensive treatment. They are busy because of their great care and great prices. Dr. Graham is the owner and as the owner must do many other things other than animal care. She does keep clinic throughout the week but needs time to run the business. We recommend this vet hospital to all who live in the area. Read Less

There is no Dr. Graham here. There is a Jennifer Padilla. Her biggest business is sending out for tests, I suspect because she really just is too lazy or can not practice. When asked about pert foods, she very politely answered that she just knows what the can says, nothing about the content. In this day and age minor surgery and diet would be the only reason to consult a vet. Good grief there is the internet and half a dozen online services. The place is not only filthy--it is a mess. I've never seen such a mess. Padilla reminds me of old Roque Gonzales, probably actually has some schooling but checked the ""special"" box. Any vet can say sweet things to your pet--in fact they all do. But if the mechanic sweet talks your engine and it then blows up, because the mechanic did not know what he/she was doing, what good is it? Padilla is down right scary. There are good vets all over the place in San Antonio. Run to them, don't walk. But this one is a check the ""special"" box, there is no Graham. Read Less

I have to agree with the ""bakerswife"". The place is chaotic, filthy, and highly unprofessional. While waiting the receptionist lost the paperwork for an exiting client. The recpetionists major theme of conversation is just how busy she is--major practice management issues here folks! The Dr. Padilla, really we are graduating some massively unprepared vets, had to be guided and at time sternly through the entire procedure. Here is the deal, the vet tech took the information, in the next room I could hear the Vet (Padilla) and vet tech formulating the treatment. She finally showed, all prepared to treat the cat for a disease the cat does not have. I had to practically shout at the Padilla vet to get off of her theory. Then she looked at the cat (remember we took the cat to the vet)--ahah! it was just what the original complaint showed. Next she asked me how to treat the cat! Good grief, all vets are nice--they need your moneny, but this is about animal care and this Padilla vet is way out of her league. Read Less

Finally fed up and won't be returning. I've been taking my dogs to this vet for over 2 years now and it's never been a pleasant experience. The wait is always too long and it's crowded and awkward in the waiting room because of the way the desk is positioned. The vet herself comes in for about a minute, and if you ever need to talk to her, again, the waiting. But it's close to my house and they always have an open appt so I continue to use them. I had a whole conversation with her just now through the receptionist where I was put on hold several times so she could talk to the doctor and come back and tell me what the doctor said- just put the doc on the phone if it's not something you can answer or take my number so the doc can call me back when she is available. When I told the receptionist to tell the doc I was very unhappy, and wouldn't be coming back, she said she wouldn't tell the doc that. What?? Why the heck not? My frustration this morning began when I found out that the doc denied approval to KV Vet supplies. This doc charges at least twice what KV does for prescription meds, so I wanted to order from KV obviously. The doc said that would be fine, just have them fax in the approval form. Well, they did, and the doc didn't approve it. Didn't DISSAPROVE, just didn't respond to several faxes. Very unprofessional. They finally called the vet and the vet said no. I called in to find out why and the vet said the dog needed to come back in and be re-checked to get the prescription. Why?? Not sure. They couldn't tell me. It has been over a week now, so maybe because of time passing, but time has only passed because they stalled on approving the meds. Ridiculous. I could buy my meds for them for a total of $85 for the ear wash, ear ointment and 6 months of heartworm meds, or pay $27 for the wash, ointment and 12 months of heartworm meds from KV! Also, doc wouldn't approve for the brand of heartworm that she sells in her shop because she sells it there. Um? Is that even legal? I've never had a doctor dictate where I could get my meds from and insist I buy it from the docs office. Write me a prescription and let me get my meds. RIDICULOUS. Read Less

I took my cat to the Potranco Vet Clinic when I noticed he was having seizure-like occurences. I spent over $400 on xrays, tests, labs, and meds but they still could not tell me what the problem was. I paid an extra $40 to have a second opinion on his xrays and was told I would receive the results within 2 days. A week later I had not and when I called there was confusion on why I had not received a call. When asked if a diagnosis had been made I was told there had not. A week later on Christmas nite, my cat had several more seizure-like incidents so I decided to try to lay down with him to comfort him. He laid on my chest still in obvious pain but shortly moved off and peed blood near me. I rushed him to an emergency clinic where they diagnosed him to have a serious UTI infection that was causing blockage in his digestive system that could result in death if left untreated much longer. They flushed his bladder and sent me home with prescription cat food and the prescription I needed to fill. My bill there was only $200. I was aghast that not only could they diagnosis the problem but at half the cost. My cat is now doing fine 3 weeks after his emergency room visit. I will never take my pets to the Potranco Vet Clinic again because I care for them too much. I highly recommend fellow pet loves choose the same course of action in avoiding the services of the Potranco Vet Clinic. Read Less

I have been taking my two Pugs to Potranco Vet for about a year now. Dr Graham is outstanding. My Pugs love her and her staff. They all are very helpful & friendly. I have even taken one of my pugs there without an appointment and they squeezed him into their tight schedule. I would recommend Dr Graham to anybody! Read Less

I've been a customer since March 2000 when I adopted 2 lab puppies that were full of worms. In the early months, my puppies were frequent patients until we could get them healthy. I was a first time pet owner and Dr. Graham and the staff were a great resource and were very patient with my questions. Today, the puppies are 8 years old. Dr. Graham and her staff have always been wonderful with my dogs. I'm very happy with their knowledge and service and the loving attention they give to my dogs. Read Less

I've been a customer of this Veterinary clinic for 6 months, and so far my pets and I are happy with the service we've received. The waiting time is typically from 5 minutes to 15 minutes so it's not bad at all. They never overbook, which is a plus. I get a 10% discount on services since I'm in the military. Just mention that you're in the military and show your military I.D.card. I only had to show my military I.D. card just for the first visit, and I always get a military discount automatically ever since then. My guys have been going to this clinic since they opened. When I moved here I conducted a search for a vet clinic and even though there were some very good ones, I found Potranco Veterinary Clinic to be the perfect place for us. I have four cats and two dogs so I have had many occasions to interact with the caring, polite, and competent people there. My animals love this doctor and her staff. I got one of my dogs from an aquaintance, saddened that she was unable keep him. When I told her that my vet was Dr. Graham, she had heard well of her and said that it eased the pain to know that her dog was in good hands. When Dr. Graham goes on vacation, her fill-in doctors are as competent and caring. During this time, her staff provides a great consistency. When I have had to board any of my animals, they are always calm and happy to be dropped off and the same when I pick them up. I feel consistently confident with this clinic. I frequently wear jeans and t-shirts. I am certainly not rich and am definitely not a soccer-mom. Read Less

I've been a customer of this Veterinary clinc for almost four years. In that time, I've had not one complaint. In fact, I've referred many of my friends to them because of their commitment to the customer. No one I've known who's gone to them has ever had a bad word to say about them. They are also great to military members by offering a 10% discount on services. I've never felt that they were out to get my money. It's like going to a small town doctor you trust. I am very specific when critiquing anything. This place is absolutely wonderful! Dr. Graham & all the techs are amazingly helpful. They have not only met my expectatins, but have surpassed them. They remember you and your pets by name. They are courteous and eager to help-never rude. I don't know if the negative reviewers reviewed the right clinic. They have always given us quotes up front-even printing them out before having a procedure. If your pet has to board the day, they'll call you if anything happens. I once had to call the office when my cat was not improving. One of the techs helped me out--going to the extent of calling the vet (who was preoccupied leading a troop of girl scouts). She called me back within a few minutes with a new script and high-cal food. They are genuinely concerned & follow up with their patients. My 80lb dog is high-energy and can truely try your patience, but they all love him...just one more reason for me to love this establishment! And hey, what other vet clinic promotes the girl scouts as well as Potranco Vet Clinic!? :-D Read Less

I have been a patron of this clinic for several years. The staff is ALWAYS friendly and caring. Dr. Graham is a no-nonsense type of vet that doesn't try to guilt you into unnecessary treatments. (ex. I once had a vet try to talk me into acupuncture for my dog!) I try to respect other's opinions, but the people who previously wrote bad reviews about this clinic HAD to have been smoking something illegal. If you want freindly service and don't want to pay rediculous prices for unnecessary procedures and tests, I highly recommend this clinic. Read Less

This is a convienent location, unfortunatley the staff has better things to do like talk to each other while customers are in need of help. Very RUDE. I live in ""Oak Creek"" and have heard of this before but I visited the office for my self and experienced the same POOR comunication skills of this over worked and unfirnedly staff. I ask the young man in the office how much blood work is or any information about how much for services. He was disinterested and just said for me to bring my pet in. He did not want to takew the time to look on the computer to give me even a ball park figure of any prices. Very unprofessional and in a need of lessons on politeness. This office seems to judge poeple by there looks. I was wearing jeans and a t-shirt and I guess they pnly are nice to soccer moms in nice close.
