I love this place! Everyone from the receptionists to the techs to the veterinarian, take the time to build a relationship with both the animals they care for and the owners. I came to River City Veterinary Care with my sick, nearly-16-year-old cat. My regular vet couldn't see her for several days, and they were recommended to me by another vet as well as a friend. They were kind, compassionate and walked me in detail through her exam/test findings as well as cost of treatment - and always made time to see her. Dr. Provost was her primary vet, but Dr. Neelesh saw her as well. In the end, after two weeks of visits, I unfortunately had to put her down, as her condition was too far advanced. I couldn't have asked for better treatment - both for my cat and for myself as we went through this difficult process. They are most definitely sensitive to the human side of their veterinary practice. Holly, one of the primary vet tech's, even called to make sure I got home OK after I had to say final goodbyes to my kitty. All of the staff were stellar, and River City is now our permanent place for vet care. I've had very good vets in the past, but the care we got from River City is the best I've ever experienced. The staff here really goes the extra mile to make my dog relax. He gets super anxious at the vet and they always take their time, give him treats and pet him until he cooperates. Great Vet Clinic! Never got anything more than mediocre care for my dogs here and far too many phone calls. Dr. Neelesh failed to identify a bone issue my dog had, which resulted in a $4000 plus surgery down the road. He advised against brushing my dog's teeth because he said it would hurt our bond. I asked him if he had a recomendation for a good dog food brand, and he said, "Iams is fine." I described an ear issue my dog had that I had already resolved, and he tested his ears for bacteria anyway, charging me around $75 dollars for the test I specifically said wasn't necessary. I would frankly be surprised if Dr. Neelesh actually liked animals, because he certainly didn't express any interest in the health of mine. I highly recommend doing your research and finding a better vet in town. Read Less

They were fabulous. They saved my Spooky (cat) who had swallowed a hair tie. They knew money was tight and they gave me a quote that they stuck to. Without the amazing staff and Doctor, Spooky would not be with our family today and his brother Pumpkin would have been lost. The staff is awesome, friendly and very professional. The problem I see is the rates for their services which i think are high and the worse part is being charged for a follow-up visit for the same illness....not even a physician charges patients for visits that pertain to the same illness. No wonder why I see so many animals roaming on the streets or carcasses, folks have to choose between their health over their pets and that's sad. Read Less

I've been going to this vet since Dr. Bammel and Dr. Marbach were running it. I liked Dr. Marbach a lot! When Dr. Neelish first came on board, I was a little put off because he seemed more aloof and considered going elsewhere, but decided to give him a chance. I'm glad I did. He's a truly nice guy with a sense of humor (albeit a bit dorky ;-)) He detected cancer in two of my dogs, and he was there for me when one of them passed away. He does work with rescues now, so our rescue also uses him. The staff is excellent and fun to talk with. I hope he stays around forever! Read Less

We are so grateful for formerly known Perrin Beitel Vet Hospital and the current River City Veterinary Care. I feel completely confident Dr. Neelesh and Dr. Provost and their staff provide the very best medical care I can find for my pets. I thought Drs. Ayers and Klecka and staff were wonderful also, but we feel very fortunate to gain such expertise and professionalism in the transition. In addition to care and compassion, River City's staff are "Over-the-top" in accommodating pet parents. They seem to sense when we are distraught and provide that extra comfort we seek. Drs. Neelesh and Provost strive to approach every medical issue with much focus, deciding on a treatment plan up front, provide an expected outcome and constantly searching for alternatives when expectations are not met. We feel we could not find any better medical care for our fur babies anywhere else at any price. Read Less

Dr. Neelesh is a fine gentleman. Before he assumed clinic ownership, I had moved my dogs to a different place for care. I've occasionally done business with him in buying special food for one of my animals. I just came back from my first (well, my cat's first) visit here and I can't believe I hit the vet jackpot. I am new to San Antonio and was choosing blindly when it came to finding a vet to take care of my cat's lack of peeing issue. Dr. Neelesh and his staff were incredibly accommodating and fit us in the schedule. Their prices did not give me sticker shock (although the speeding ticket I received on the way in DID make this one of my higher vet visits), and I cannot stress enough how lovely everyone on staff was. I have taken my pets here for many years and have always felt like they receive exceptional care from Dr. Neelesh and the staff. Everyone is very friendly, professional, and caring. The convenience of scheduling appointments online is very helpful. Any time one of my pets has had surgery or a procedure, the staff has called the next day to check on them. The most important thing to me is that if an additional service or procedure is suggested and I decline, I am not made to feel like I am doing a disservice to my pets!
