My little Arabella was 15 years old, she did a very full and happy life. About two months ago, she started developing a tumor inside her mouth, which was very quickly. It was one of the most difficult decisions of my life. Do I have to let her go, but with the staff and with Dr. O, it was good to have understanding and compassionate people around me. Dr. O was extremely gentle and compassionate as I held her. He scratched her ear, and he spoke to her softly And the whole process was very quick and smooth and peaceful. He personally took her from my arms and took her away, and he was very comforting to me with his words as well. I will never forget it. And I think him and everyone there for being so kind hearted. Thank you

Don't trust the dental estimates. My cat has been there twice for dental work and both times it was almost double what they quoted. They didn't even fix my poor kitty the first time either, I had to save up and the second Dr he saw was a temp who was very nice who gave me the quote. After surgery was more than double what the bill came out to. I knew they where more expensive, but I wish they would have took them all out in the first place. Now I'm in debt for my kitty cause I can't pay them. I have chosen another vet as well, that old man hardly looked at my pups too. He was just like yea here give him this.

Dr Martinez was great. The staff got me a last minute appointment. They were the only ones in a my neighborhood that were willing to work me in and they didn't charge me an arm and a leg.

This is by far the best vet office I've ever taken my pets to. The staff are super friendly and courteous and Dr. Musquiz is very kind and thorough. My puppy was recently spayed and the incision/stitch work was very clean and my puppy was back to her normal chipper self the next day. Dr Musquiz always gives clear instructions and expectations and just over all seems to genuinely care for my dogs. The vet techs are always super kind, courteous and loving with my pets as well. I am very appreciative of this place!

I don't know how anyone could rate St. Francis anything but a 5. I don't even care which doctor my pets see because they are all awesome! Over the many years we have been visiting this hospital we have taken our dogs, cats and even ferrets and always received stellar service.
The last time we went in my dog needed a tumor removed. To save us money, the vet recommended we pay for a dental since it includes general anesthesia too and would save us money to have the tumor removed at the same time.
We also had our ferret euthanized here. He had cancer that didn't respond to treatment. It was very difficult, but the doctor and staff were very kind.
By comparison my cat had an emergency bladder situation while we were in California. They charged us $2,000 just to drain his bladder, catheter him and put him on an iv overnight and the next day. They quoted us $2,500 more to actually clean his bladder and told us maybe he wouldn't just block up again and die. I could not afford that and the other clinic was not compassionate or willing to work with me. I had to have my sweet kitty put to sleep. And even that cost $500. I know that would not have happened if we had been here and taken him to St. Francis.

Yes, I'd definitely recommend this clinic. My experience as a first-time customer was outstanding. I picked this clinic over another one because the online ratings/comments and the service price quoted over the phone. I made a same-day appointment online and found the website very user-friendly and informative. Dr Musquiz and his Vet Tech, Rachel were professional and thorough examining my daughter's dog. Rachel was very patient getting to know the dog, answered all my questions and fully explained all the charges before the doctor examined the dog. The total charge for a wellness exam and update of yearly vaccinations was $140 less than the price quoted by another clinic closer to my house. As a new customer, I also received a $25 discount. Very impressed!

Two weeks ago I had to do one of the hardest things I had to put my cat of 13 years to sleep. The veterinarian (Dr. Bauml) and the staff at St Francis of Assisi were so sweet and caring. They went above and beyond what they had to do to accommodate me and my precious cat. They didn't rush me they let me have time with her (as much as I needed). Even after the whole process they gave me time to collect myself. I felt they really cared about us both which made me a bit more comfortable. I want to thank them and tell that I will forever be grateful for everything they did for me and my precious patches...

Dr. Ruiz is our favorite vet. He explains everything well and my dogs are comfortable around him. It is easy to get an appointment. Best time to go is on weekdays. We had a kitty we found in the street and while we tried to find the owners or rehome her, she got sick all the sudden. We called our neighborhood vet and they were booked, out emergency clinic was in the middle of twin and traffic was so bad we did t want to risk it so we call every place close and finally we get these angels. They knew her by her name when we came in and the whole visit was wonderful. We even took an additional animal we thought was a little fat I check for babies (she was totally pregnant too). So two walk in animals in one appointment and they had all tests and treatments being done within an hour... great staff with an amazing Vet on staff and we made appointments for the future and got some flea treatments from them for the rest of the family. I don't know who wouldn't love them. Our little kitty was feeling better and back to her spunky self the very next day. Thank you and keep up the great work!!

When we arrived in San Antonio back in 2009 st Francis was the first vet we took our dogs to. Dr Ruiz been the best vet we have ever met along side Dr Bauml In 2012 I had to go be with my dad who was dying with cancer. Our border collie had surgery in march that year for cancer that returned in July. Dr Ruiz said surgery wasn't an option because where it was. In October while I was In another state with my dad my husband called me to tell me that Cody had to be put down by dr Ruiz because his tumor ruptured. I was devastated when I came home I went to dr Ruiz and asked how the procedure of putting him down went and he explained in full detail. He continued to care for my older dog until 1 September he had a seizure he never recovered from and we were with dr Ruiz when he put Chase down, I have been to many vets with my animals but I have never experienced a compassionate and loving vet as dr Ruiz. There is no doubt he chose the right profession. I wish there were more vets in the world like him.he is one of the best!!!

I will try to make a long story short: my dachshund is a paraplegic. During his injury/recovery we needed to see multiple specialists for his treatment. These other specialists collected thousands of dollars from us and treated us like we were part of an assembly line, just in and out through a revolving door. We didn't even meet 2 of the other vets, only met the vet techs who took our dog to and from the treatment rooms. St. Francis of Asisi has been the only provider/clinic who showed they cared for our dog's well being and our well being as the pet owners while FAIRLY charging us. We've haven't spent nearly a fraction of what it costed us elsewhere (granted different treatments were required from different vets). They were the only doctors who actually shook our hands, offered us support and give us detailed guidance on how to go forward with caring for a paralyzed dog.

I have been taking my animals here for years. Tried a few other vets but St. Francis offers a very fair and good price as well as very good customer service. A few years ago one of our beloved family members (our amazing dog) passed away from old age and St.Francis was VERY nice and VERY respectful to us. They even sent us a card for her passing. They are always very willing to help me when I am concerned about something and are very direct with me. This is almost certainly my most favorite vet clinic I have ever been to. If I am given the option I always choose this vet.

I have 5 dogs and recently moved to the SA area from Houston. I've only been to this vet a few times - once to have health exams for two of my newly adopted dogs, the second time for vaccinations for my other three, and a third time for surgery on my oldest one - but I have never had anything but a positive experience here.
At my previous vet in Houston they did most everything to my animals there in the exam room with me there. I do not like it when the animals are taken "in the back" for nail trims, blood tests, whatever. I want my dogs to be there in the same room with me when anything like that needs to be done and I told this to the folks at St. Francis. They understood and complied with my request, and I appreciated that.
Yes vet care and bills can be unpredictable and unexpected. But we hardly ever go to the vet when our animals are healthy, we mostly only go when they're not well. My advice to everyone is to ask questions and ask about options.
These are good folks and I will be back (tomorrow actually)!

St. Francis was the 3rd place for us to try in our quest to find out why out sweet Golden Teddy had suddenly lost the ability to use his right hind leg. Dr. Holub took the time to carefully examine his x-rays and spotted a shadow on his spine that 2 other doctors (at other offices) had missed. He took a more specific xray and unfortunately the news wasn't good for Teddy. Dr. Holub thoroughly explained what we were seeing on the xray, and we made an informed decision to let him go. He and his staff were so compassionate about everything, which has been a huge comfort and blessing during this very difficult time for our family. I highly recommend the staff at St. Francis.

You should change the name. I took two kittens in dire need of help, rescued and was told I would have to sign them over. Instead of finding understanding and looking at their condition I was told, "that was in case they need to euthnize them." I left feeling like a burden. "St. Francis" stands for compassion towards animals. Animals are a gift and should work together for what is in their best interest not by an exclusive piece of paper.
The next vet hospitol I visited said we'll take care of them and were wisked away. They asked if I could make a donation and it was not indicative of their care.

I finally asked how far behind they were in seeing patients. I was told there would be another 20 minute wait for us. I walked out without ever seeing a vet. The staff is either clueless or incompetent - and not very friendly, I might add. I should have been given the option to reschedule upon my arrival, since they must known we couldn't be seen for over an hour. I found another vet.

Took my fur baby in to get an assessment on her teeth a week ago. The vet gave me a quote in writing on how much it would cost to get the procedure done and told me everything that was included in that price. When it was time to pay they were charging me twice the amount of the quote. Talked to Junior the office manager...still took me 30 minutes of talking to him to get the price down to $30 above what I was quoted. Staff was really great with my pet but I feel there's a lack of communication or they're just trying to get away with over charging.

My little Arabella was 15 years old, she did a very full and happy life. About two months ago, she started developing a tumor inside her mouth, which was very quickly. It was one of the most difficult decisions of my life. Do I have to let her go, but with the staff and with Dr. O, it was good to have understanding and compassionate people around me. Dr. O was extremely gentle and compassionate as I held her. He scratched her ear, and he spoke to her softly And the whole process was very quick and smooth and peaceful. He personally took her from my arms and took her away, and he was very comforting to me with his words as well. I will never forget it. And I think him and everyone there for being so kind hearted. Don't trust the dental estimates. My cat has been there twice for dental work and both times it was almost double what they quoted. They didn't even fix my poor kitty the first time either, I had to save up and the second Dr he saw was a temp who was very nice who gave me the quote. After surgery was more than double what the bill came out to. I knew they where more expensive, but I wish they would have took them all out in the first place. Now I'm in debt for my kitty cause I can't pay them. I have chosen another vet as well, that old man hardly looked at my pups too. He was just like yea here give him this.

Dr Martinez was great. The staff got me a last minute appointment. They were the only ones in a my neighborhood that were willing to work me in and they didn't charge me an arm and a leg.

This is by far the best vet office I've ever taken my pets to. The staff are super friendly and courteous and Dr. Musquiz is very kind and thorough. My puppy was recently spayed and the incision/stitch work was very clean and my puppy was back to her normal chipper self the next day. Dr Musquiz always gives clear instructions and expectations and just over all seems to genuinely care for my dogs. The vet techs are always super kind, courteous and loving with my pets as well. I am very appreciative of this place!

I don't know how anyone could rate St. Francis anything but a 5. I don't even care which doctor my pets see because they are all awesome! Over the many years we have been visiting this hospital we have taken our dogs, cats and even ferrets and always received stellar service.
The last time we went in my dog needed a tumor removed. To save us money, the vet recommended we pay for a dental since it includes general anesthesia too and would save us money to have the tumor removed at the same time.
We also had our ferret euthanized here. He had cancer that didn't respond to treatment. It was very difficult, but the doctor and staff were very kind.
By comparison my cat had an emergency bladder situation while we were in California. They charged us $2,000 just to drain his bladder, catheter him and put him on an iv overnight and the next day. They quoted us $2,500 more to actually clean his bladder and told us maybe he wouldn't just block up again and die. I could not afford that and the other clinic was not compassionate or willing to work with me. I had to have my sweet kitty put to sleep. And even that cost $500. I know that would not have happened if we had been here and taken him to St. Francis.

I picked this clinic over another one because the online ratings/comments and the service price quoted over the phone. I made a same-day appointment online and found the website very user-friendly and informative. Dr Musquiz and his Vet Tech, Rachel were professional and thorough examining my daughter's dog. Rachel was very patient getting to know the dog, answered all my questions and fully explained all the charges before the doctor examined the dog. The total charge for a wellness exam and update of yearly vaccinations was $140 less than the price quoted by another clinic closer to my house. As a new customer, I also received a $25 discount. Very impressed!

Two weeks ago I had to do one of the hardest things I had to put my cat of 13 years to sleep. The veterinarian (Dr. Bauml) and the staff at St Francis of Assisi were so sweet and caring. They went above and beyond what they had to do to accommodate me and my precious cat. They didn't rush me they let me have time with her (as much as I needed). Even after the whole process they gave me time to collect myself. I felt they really cared about us both which made me a bit more comfortable. I want to thank them and tell that I will forever be grateful for everything they did for me and my precious patches...

We had a kitty we found in the street and while we tried to find the owners or rehome her, she got sick all the sudden. We called our neighborhood vet and they were booked, out emergency clinic was in the middle of twin and traffic was so bad we did t want to risk it so we call every place close and finally we get these angels. They knew her by her name when we came in and the whole visit was wonderful. We even took an additional animal we thought was a little fat I check for babies (she was totally pregnant too). So two walk in animals in one appointment and they had all tests and treatments being done within an hour... great staff with an amazing Vet on staff and we made appointments for the future and got some flea treatments from them for the rest of the family. I don't know who wouldn't love them. Our little kitty was feeling better and back to her spunky self the very next day. Thank you and keep up the great work!!

When we arrived in San Antonio back in 2009 st Francis was the first vet we took our dogs to. Dr Ruiz been the best vet we have ever met along side Dr Bauml In 2012 I had to go be with my dad who was dying with cancer. Our border collie had surgery in march that year for cancer that returned in July. Dr Ruiz said surgery wasn't an option because where it was. In October while I was In another state with my dad my husband called me to tell me that Cody had to be put down by dr Ruiz because his tumor ruptured. I was devastated when I came home I went to dr Ruiz and asked how the procedure of putting him down went and he explained in full detail. He continued to care for my older dog until 1 September he had a seizure he never recovered from and we were with dr Ruiz when he put Chase down, I have been to many vets with my animals but I have never experienced a compassionate and loving vet as dr Ruiz. There is no doubt he chose the right profession. I wish there were more vets in the world like him.he is one of the best!!!

I will try to make a long story short: my dachshund is a paraplegic. During his injury/recovery we needed to see multiple specialists for his treatment. These other specialists collected thousands of dollars from us and treated us like we were part of an assembly line, just in and out through a revolving door. We didn't even meet 2 of the other vets, only met the vet techs who took our dog to and from the treatment rooms. St. Francis of Asisi has been the only provider/clinic who showed they cared for our dog's well being and our well being as the pet owners while FAIRLY charging us. We've haven't spent nearly a fraction of what it costed us elsewhere (granted different treatments were required from different vets). They were the only doctors who actually shook our hands, offered us support and give us detailed guidance on how to go forward with caring for a paralyzed dog.

I have been taking my animals here for years. Tried a few other vets but St. Francis offers a very fair and good price as well as very good customer service. A few years ago one of our beloved family members (our amazing dog) passed away from old age and St.Francis was VERY nice and VERY respectful to us. They even sent us a card for her passing. They are always very willing to help me when I am concerned about something and are very direct with me. This is almost certainly my most favorite vet clinic I have ever been to. If I am given the option I always choose this vet.

I have 5 dogs and recently moved to the SA area from Houston. I've only been to this vet a few times - once to have health exams for two of my newly adopted dogs, the second time for vaccinations for my other three, and a third time for surgery on my oldest one - but I have never had anything but a positive experience here.
At my previous vet in Houston they did most everything to my animals there in the exam room with me there. I do not like it when the animals are taken "in the back" for nail trims, blood tests, whatever. I want my dogs to be there in the same room with me when anything like that needs to be done and I told this to the folks at St. Francis. They understood and complied with my request, and I appreciated that.
Yes vet care and bills can be unpredictable and unexpected. But we hardly ever go to the vet when our animals are healthy, we mostly only go when they're not well. My advice to everyone is to ask questions and ask about options.
These are good folks and I will be back (tomorrow actually)!

St. Francis was the 3rd place for us to try in our quest to find out why out sweet Golden Teddy had suddenly lost the ability to use his right hind leg. Dr. Holub took the time to carefully examine his x-rays and spotted a shadow on his spine that 2 other doctors (at other offices) had missed. He took a more specific xray and unfortunately the news wasn't good for Teddy. Dr. Holub thoroughly explained what we were seeing on the xray, and we made an informed decision to let him go. He and his staff were so compassionate about everything, which has been a huge comfort and blessing during this very difficult time for our family. I highly recommend the staff at St. Francis.

You should change the name. I took two kittens in dire need of help, rescued and was told I would have to sign them over. Instead of finding understanding and looking at their condition I was told, "that was in case they need to euthnize them." I left feeling like a burden. "St. Francis" stands for compassion towards animals. Animals are a gift and should work together for what is in their best interest not by an exclusive piece of paper.
The next vet hospitol I visited said we'll take care of them and were wisked away. They asked if I could make a donation and it was not indicative of their care.

I finally asked how far behind they were in seeing patients. I was told there would be another 20 minute wait for us. I walked out without ever seeing a vet. The staff is either clueless or incompetent - and not very friendly, I might add. I should have been given the option to reschedule upon my arrival, since they must known we couldn't be seen for over an hour. I found another vet.

Took my fur baby in to get an assessment on her teeth a week ago. The vet gave me a quote in writing on how much it would cost to get the procedure done and told me everything that was included in that price. When it was time to pay they were charging me twice the amount of the quote. Talked to Junior the office manager...still took me 30 minutes of talking to him to get the price down to $30 above what I was quoted. Staff was really great with my pet but I feel there's a lack of communication or they're just trying to get away with over charging.
