Not much for compassion. I called to ask if they could see my dog because her time is running out. We will likely need to put her down this weekend because of her worsening cancer. I wanted a vet to see her and confirm I’m doing the right thing and not being premature in this decision. I wanted to know if there was a chance of any other treatment working. The receptionist (followed up by the supervisor) don’t even ask me who I was. They didn’t ask about the dog, not a name, not about her wellbeing or my families, nothing. They just said “we don’t have any appointments available and the vet can only see so many in a day”. I get it but I have had 3 dogs brought to them for several years and why did it not occur to them to ask who was on the other end of the phone? If someone asked you to give them 15 minutes at the end of their day to see their dying pet, would you, do it? The Vet is really nice and personable. He took his time explaining. You can’t beat the prices here at this clinic. I’m paying half the price to get my dogs teeth cleaned and they did an excellent job. So happy I switched to this clinic! Read Less

As for now only 2 stars because I wasn’t at the actual clinic yet. I tried mobile CLINIC this weekend , just to find out after waiting in line for some time that they only offer vaccinations! It would been nice that they would’ve mention that on their site & stop calling themselves mobile clinic when they clearly don’t do check up’s like in actual “clinics” , it’s more a immunization stand , the word clinic is very misleading I wasted time. I will give the actual clinic a try whenever I need a vet again, because I got my pets treatment from pet barn & I probably saved money with that so they lost my business there .but yes for now 2 stars. They have a policy of not writing you a prescription for medications so that you can shop around and get a more competitive price (like online). They charged me $40 for AMOXICILLIN for a urinary tract infection. Really? That is like the CHEAPEST medicine on the entire planet (like,10 cents a capsule). RIDICULOUS. And of course, you've already had your animal examined by the time they start talking prices to you. Because I was already obligated to pay the $55 for the exam, I knew I wouldn't be able to get a script from another vet unless they also performed an exam (regardless of whether or not I had the records faxed over.) They also sold me a flea chewable for $66. It was available from 1-800-PetMeds for $48. But when confronted about this, they just basically say that's their policy, "they can't guarantee the authenticity of the medication if they don't sell it there". What a complete load of B.S. Before going there, just you know you will definitely get screwed on the price of the meds. They don't have a lab either so that increases costs on lab work as well. My advice: they may have cheap vaccinations, but everything else pretty much sucks. Read Less

This was our first visit there. We had our puppy and older dog. They explained everything they were going to do. They also suggested tests for our older dog. Our whole visits including shots and medicine were 120 dollars. I had call several other places that wanted to charge us over close to $600 dollars for the same exact shots and checkup that the others quoted. I would recommended Vanguard and they also have Mobile clinics. I was in and out in 30 minutes. Read Less

After using another Vet in the vicinity for over 20 years I was very satisfied with the service offered at Vanguard., The Doctor took the extra time to make me feel a little better on what needed to be done. He clearly had both the dog and my best interest in mind. I prices are very reasonable compared to my prior Vet. Please note that the weekday hours are 8AM to 12PM and 2:PM to 6PM. I was not sure I had an Monday appointment when I came over before 2 PM to find the place closed. Some Vets are closed Mondays and with the flu I just was too sick to wait around. Read Less

I really love this place. Not only are the staff who handle the animals extreme pet lovers, but they're very knowledgeable. They share their tips and tricks for your pet, and offer extremely affordable pet care. I've taken my 2 dogs to their pet clinics as well as to their office for shots, flea care, and pet meds. The most money I've ever spent is about $140, and that was for a 6 month supply of flea/heartworm/intestinal worm medicine. Every other vaccination the dogs have had cost $20 or less. The Receptionist was extremely helpful, nice, and very informative when I had a couple concerning questions about my cat. She honestly made me feel better even though it was a conversation over the phone. If the health of my cat unfortunately doesn't seem to get better I will definitely go to this clinic. I've been taking my son Cinco, a 8 yr. old Chihuahua and my mother's Chihuahua Nachos, who's 10! They are great at customer service and getting you in on time when you family member needs to be seen. My dog needed to be seen short notice, and this was the only clinic that could fit her in that day. The staff was friendly and attentive. The vet was great (my dog would disagree, but she hates every vet), and we were in, out, and cured in about 30 minutes. The prices are low as well. No complaints. Read Less

I stop today at their location in loop 1604 to pick up my cat's flea medicine after calling it in. When I arrived it wasn't ready, they couldn't even find my account which I didn't mind at all, but the lady (kim) "trying to help" was rude and with a not positive attitude. I knew about this place from their mobile clinics (HEB wilderness oak) and the people there are nice and helpful, from now on I will just wait and get my pets meds in the mobile clinic or just switch to a different clinic with a friendlier staff. Excellent for low cost vaccines but not very competent in scheduling and conducting any other vet services. Scheduled an office visit to have some concerns about my pet checked instead it was scheduled as a vaccine appointment. Now I ended up with my pet getting vaccinated and the unexpected expense 4 months early. The vet doesn't even verify or ask if your intention is to vaccinate your pet early. Read Less

Awesome that it's a place you can take your animals for low cost vaccinations, but the people that work the mobile stand in Killeen all act like the hate their jobs. The cashier was very rude. I was told that the rabies and fvrcp was for both fvrcp shots, but when I took my kitten back I had to pay another 15$ for her second shot. They should probably word things better to their clients. The front desk staff is always helpful and pleasant. The doctor is a bit of a jokester, but I've not had any negative experiences here at all, ever.Also note that I have nothing to compare it to because I'm a first time pet owner. Someone told me on the phone it would only cost 45 dollar to get my female dog fix at there vet so I drop her off and they do the surgery and then tell me it's 200 dollars with their stupid coupon $35 off talk about a scam I don't recommend this place at all make sure to get a total price before hand over you pets because calling and getting a price is not valid. This clinic does not even deserve one star... These people are only out for your money and do not care for your animals. I took my cat here today who had dark spots around her nipples and a lump on her tummy and the vet (word for word) told me he "had no idea what they were" and sent me on my way, assuring me that even though he had no idea what they were, they were no threat. Had the best experience today. Took my Chloe in to have dental work done so I was worried all morning. The staff was really nice they called me twice while Chloe was there to let me know how she was doing. I was expecting Chloe to be tired or in pain when I picked her up but it was the total opposite. When we got home she was totally acting like herself even was able to eat some food. They did a wonderful job on her teeth and Dr. Navarro even came out and explained which teeth were pulled and what steps we needed to take when we got her home. He is one of the nicest Vets we have ever gone to, he was so nice he even ran back out to the car and gave us the teeth that they pulled, for the tooth fairy. Awww. A Big Thank You to all the Staff. This is the best veterinary clinic in San Antonio. The staff is great and the vet is awesome! He stitched up my dog after it got bit by another dog and he took care of her so well. This clinic also offers very reasonable prices. I first took my dog to an animal hospital and they wanted to charge me almost four times what I paid here. I highly recommend this clinic for all your pet's needs. They also offer very reasonable prices for all vaccines. The clinic also has mobile clinic days sometimes at your local HEB. Read Less

I am very upset with them. I called in for a quote to get a simple health certificate on a foster dog going out of state. They quoted me a very fair price. I shared this info with other fosters in the rescue organization I work with. Another foster called me an hour before my appt and informed me she was charged well over double what I was quoted. I called back in and asked. Was again told a fair price. I explained what the other foster said she was charged and the lady replied "well, of course there is an office visit fee on top of that" like I was supposed to know a low cost vet clinic was going to charge MORE than the private vet clinic across the street!!!!!
