Took my pup in to get spayed. No problems there. Figured I would have my Maltese groomed there while she was there. Paid $70 for bath, dip and grooming. When they brought her out I didn’t even recognize her. They completely shaved her face and body to maybe an 1/8 of an inch of hair left on her. She was also covered in fleas and she smelled bad. Guess the bath and flea dip I paid for didn’t happen and now I’m stuck with the ugliest Maltese I have ever seen for 3 to 6 months till her hair grows back. I could have shaved her completely myself in 5 minutes like these guys did. Terrible grooming service here. Don’t use it!!!!!! Read Less

Ok, let me first start with saying, my dogs are my WORLD!!! So when anything happens to them, I ONLY Trust THE ABSOLUTE BEST AND MOST KIND to handle my babies. I'm beyond blessed to have Jennifer Sells and her amazing staff by my side! Dr. Brown, Solomon, and Sasha, and Ray were SOOOOO HELPFUL AND REASSURING of my babies and helped ease all my anxieties when I brought my dogs in. Not only did they treat my dog, they worked within my budget to make sure my Baby received all the care she needed without putting me in debt! These people truly love what they do and TRULY care for their patients and parents. If anyone has ever had doubts about this place, i assure you, you are in the best of hands! Very expensive services! They upcharge everything and will not give you a quote over the phone for anything. They advertised to waive a $60 office visit but only if you made an appointment. Made the appointment and they refused to honor it because it was same day, even though they had openings all day. They tried to charge for a $40 test to see if my dog was hydrated then charged another 36$ for a saline hydration. Why test something you're going to administer anyway? The female vet seemed very disinterested in my dog, barely even looked at him or pet him, just went on to explain the cost of things like they were a recording. Tried calling back for a teeth cleaning estimate, they refused to offer even an idea of a price range because the "doctor has to see" how severe it is, even though the dog is 1 year old. Another $60 office visit. If their tactic is to get you in to pay out the ass for office visits, good try, because that just loses a customer. They're very money hungry, FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE that cares about your pet, not just the $300 visits.The only reason it's not 1 star, the ladies at the front desk are very nice. Showed up at 1 am with our tiny crested, thinking he was going to be too small to be taken care of but the staff was amazing. Dr. Brown gave him calcium for his tiny bones and sent us home with a couple syringes to make feeding easier. 10/10 recommend, will be going back if we ever need to. Read Less

I would love to give Becker 5 stars but I'm still really upset about an extra charge they failed to mention to me until I came to pick up my dog. They failed to tell me when I paid the bill (for my dog to have part of his nail removed) that there would be an extra charge for his overnight stay. Why couldnt this have been added to my original bill/ quote? I would have been more than happy to pay it then. However, on a brighter note I absolutely loved how my dog and I were treated while there. The receptionist, Avery, was very sweet. He offered us a towel as my dogs nail was still bleeding when we came in. He also made us comfortable by offering us water, tea and coffee. Another tech (didn't catch a name- older guy with salt and pepper hair) was awesome and got us seen as quick as possible after waiting several hours to be seen (for a monday night it was extremely busy). Staff did a great job to comfort me as I was a bit of a mess and stressing over my dog's injury (would also like to point out that I'm 31 weeks pregnant and extremely emotional). I also really appreciated the text I received the next morning that my dog's procedure was done and when I could pick him up. For the most part customer care was awesome. Wait time was what you would expect in any ER, animal or human. I just wish they would have been more upfront about what I was going to have to pay for. One of the many great things about living in San Antonio is having access to Becker Animal Hospital. They are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for emergency and routine services. Our household has 2 dogs, and both have visited Becker’s in the evening and late night hours more than once under emergency circumstances. We’ve been when Becker’s was extremely busy, and when practically empty, but the attention and caring attitude are always evident. Our most recent visit was Jan 19, 2018. As always, the attention and care that our pet received was outstanding. The desk staff, veterinary assistant, and veterinarian could not have been nicer. When I checked in, I was told where I was in the cue, and about how long I would be waiting to be seen. Once in the exam room, the assistant was very attentive in seeking information on our concerns for our elderly pet. While waiting to be seen, the desk person and vet assistant emphasized to just open the exam room door and let them know if we needed anything. Best of all, the assistant and the veterinarian were so tender with our girl. I am a very fussy pet parent. And as someone with a medical background, I always have lots of questions, and am prepared to give a detailed history of current complaint, that I expect to be heard. As prior military, I’ve moved more than a few times, and I definitely look for a veterinarian that is patient and tolerant towards me. Becker definitely meets this bar. On my recent visit I was very impressed that the attending vet welcomed suggestions for improvements. Obviously customer satisfaction is taken very seriously. The team texted me on the spot, to establish a line of contact. I was able to update and ask questions throughout the night, and the next day. I’ve been pleasantly surprised by Becker’s pricing. It’s like getting emergency room services at doctor’s office prices. Obviously procedures, x-rays, labs etc add to the costs, but overall, extremely reasonable. Read Less

They try....... it’s about having enough people and getting what you pay for. It’s not the most bang for you buck. Because you pay about 3-5% more for the services but your wait will be significant (if they say just a minute it means 1hr.) They get way to busy for the amount of staff they have on site. And front desk although kind and personable they need more people and better training. Dr. Lit and Dr. Dahkal are very helpful - I like the text I got about the results. Very helpful. This place is where animals go to die! My poor dog was experiencing some back pains that were causing her legs to go limp, so we took her to Becker. They prescribed some very expensive medications, which didn't work at all, and told us to come back in about 3 or 4 weeks. Not to mention, we waited forever! We arrived at Becker at about 10:30 pm and left at 3 am! They weren't even that busy! About 3 weeks later and my dog's condition is even worse than before, so we rush her to Becker at about 8 pm. After about 2 hours, they tell us it's best to put my dog down. She was my best friend and I practically grew up with her. I was a complete mess crying and had a full on panic attack. They put her down and I am filled with immense and excruciating depression! We ask if we can leave her body in the freezer for 2 or 3 days till we dig a grave for her at our home. 3 days later we call and request that she be cremated instead. They say sorry but they ACCIDENTALLY mislabeled and sent my dogs ashes to some garden in Austin for forgotten dogs. So basically my dog is on the ground somewhere in Austin with a bunch of other dead dogs that nobody loved. Becker I hope you realize what you took from me. My dog meant the world to me and all you had to do was correctly label that her ashes were to be picked up in 3 DAYS! I will never be able to have my dog's ashes and it still makes me cry to this day. This establishment seriously needs to go out of business with the way it treats animals and people. P.S. What people need to realize is that this is in fact a 24/7 hospital that literally has its own emergency room and with that you still don’t pay a fortune when tragedy happens. Yes, I understand sometimes there is a wait but if you want to avoid that find a clinic and make an appointment. Becker always accepts walk-in no matter what and has literally saved my precious pets lives TWICE in emergencies. They are always well organized with a huge staff. When my little dog was attached they had taken him back before I was even able to park the car. I was an absolute nervous wreck and they were amazing still. We were eventually told after 6 hours that the best thing was to go home. And at 1am the actual doctor who performed the surgery personally called to tell me everything went perfectly. That was years ago and to this day our pets are still patients there at Becker. It’s terrible when horrible things happen to our babies but those people are only there to help. It’s a hospital with reasonable pricing and they are always open. They take the pets in the back by themselves as to not cause them anymore trauma and to get them back to you faster. (If you would rather go back them you always have that option, however pets can get more tense when the owner is there). My point is to please be patient with the staff and don’t dramatically blast them on social media because your entitled ego didn’t get the bathing package you wanted. So here goes, first off what ever happened to common sense. This is a Emergency Hospital open 24/7, for anyone to call and ask if they will be busy is unfathomable, second off when your pet is being examined and the Doctors find problems with your pet, I appreciate the fact that they get to the bottom of things. Think about it, if you go to the ER for any reason they will examine you as they should. There will be blood work, tests and so on. As a medical doctor you have to treat whatever you are diagnosed with to save your Life. And yes , whenever you go for treatment you will not be quoted a fee for that treatment. Folks newsflash it is the same with Veterinarian Doctors. We have taken our Babies to Becker since we adopted them back in August of 2017. They had Parvo, if it wasn't for Becker, all the Doctors and wonderful Staff , our Babies would not be alive. I for one would never take my Puppies anywhere else. To the people that complain about wait time, rest assured there is a reason for that. I don't think it is fair for you to give bad reviews because you are in a hurry. If you really love your pet, you will do what's best for them and not worry about being in a hurry. As far as people saying the staff is rude , you have to be a very impatient and angry person. If you don't like Becker ....go somewhere else and see what you get, but don't give bad reviews because of your frustration. We have never endured rude staff or Doctors at Becker. Don't prevent pet owners from getting the best treatment because of your impatience and frustration. We brought our kitty Rocky in for a surgery consultation. The front desk staff were professional and the facility is really nice. We could tell our vet tech loves animals and she was so sweet to our Rocky.   She took him to the back area for his examination with the doctor and we could hear the veterinarian complimenting him and tell how much he cared. When Dr. Williams came in to talk to us he explained the plan if care and what we should expect with concern and empathy.  Our kitty stayed the night for his surgery next day and we left knowing he was in good hands. We were updated through each step of Rocky's progress and everyone that we talked to (we called every day!) was very caring, understanding, and friendly. I can't compliment this hospital enough because they truly care about the animals that come to them. I was lucky enough to have Dr Peter Mosites who treated my dog with such care and concern. He explained everything about the treatment my dog needed in great detail so I would have no questions or be surprised. He didn't just see my dog for 5 minutes then leave. He spent time and as each procedure was done he explained everything in great detail. He was even kind enough to give me an email to contact him personally if I had any concerns or questions and even called the very next day to check on my dog and see how he was doing!!!!!! The  kind of care,professionalism and personal concern this hospital and all the employees give is tremendous! I totally recommend this hospital to anyone who wants first rate service and genuine and excellent health care for their animal!!!! Read Less

I took a cat here because he was having difficulty breathing. The vet told us that he had fluid in his lungs and would need to be kept in an oxygen chamber. They told us if we couldn't afford 24 hours of oxygen they could charge us for 12 and leave the cat out for the other 12. Not sure if this is standard in the veterinary field but no one who cares about animals would leave one gasping for breath on a table with a perfectly good oxygen chamber in the room. If I could give them 0 stars I would. I took my fur babies here to get pills for intestinal worms. They took them back and "gave them the pills". I say that in quotations because they still had worms and they didn't go away until I took care of the problem myself with medicine from another veterinarian. Those worked. Staff is rude and I've heard so many complaints from others, even about someone suing for the death of their animal. Don't take your babies here. Read Less

I see a lot of reviews for this location that are either misinformed or written in a bout of emotional passion. My wife and I regularly come to this location for our pets healthcare and emergencies. Yes, there are usually long wait-times even outside peak hours, however something to remember is that this is an emergency clinic that does not take appointments. If you want to be seen quickly go somewhere that allows for appointments. As for the service, remember that this is a healthcare provider. These people are doing their best to help you and it is not an exact science. I have found the staff to be nothing but prompt, polite and helpful. Losing a loved one is painful but it is rarely the entire fault of the vet. If anything, do your best to remember all the symptoms your pet might be showing, big or small and help them help you. I have no words. The staff is so wonderful, patient, and understanding. I've meet with 2 of the doctors and each has been extremely helpful, well presented, and has been able to fully explain and justify each method of treatment they have suggested. I brought in a rescue puppy and they treated her like a princess. Just recently we brought in our 14 year old Great Dane and they were all so sweet to him as if he were their own. The care is well worth the wait. They are a 24/7 animal HOSPITAL, they take in emergent animals and need to have available hands to help them. It's not a clinic or a private practice where you can make an appointment.. So when you have to wait and hour to have your pets name to be called, remember that they are saving little pet lives in the back, not just twiddling their thumbs. And for all the people complaining about how they had to pay first.. it is actually to your benefit if you think about it.. to make sure there are not "surprise" charges in the end. And their prices are more than fair so why does it matter when you pay? These people may not always have a smile on their faces every minute of the day but they do their job and they do it impeccably well considering the fact that they have to give countless families terrible news every day. If you need a pet euthanized, go here. If you need help to keep an animal alive and healthy, go elsewhere. Do not bring your reptile (especially tortoises/turtles) here for emergency care. They are know knowledgeable about reptiles even though they claim to treat exotics on their site. My tortoise was bit by a dog. Instead of using an epoxy to fill the space in the shell cracks and giving him antibiotics (dogs attack tortoises fairly often so the treatment is widely known), they recommended euthanasia. They wouldn't consider giving him pain meds, an antibiotic and then clean out the wound which would hold him till Monday when I real reptile vet would be open (they said they could refer me to someone more experienced). They charged me for a consult because they wouldn't examine him. They could probably use Google and do their jobs better. Stay clear for exotics. Read Less

I wasn't going to write a review untill I saw the horrific responses from others on here & thought I should include mine. My pet passed away yesterday and I decided to get him cremated so I called Becker this morning. After telling the lady on the phone of my pets passing and discussing arrangements I never received any condolences or " I'm sorry for your loss ". I called again shortly after because I forgot a few things I wanted to ask, a different lady answered the phone. I filled her in and asked my questions, yet again before hanging up there was no recognition for my loss. I was definitely to upset at the time to even notice but I began to recall it while at the front desk to drop him off the lady assisting me there never gave me any acknowledgment either. I AM HOLD MY DEAD PET IN TOWELS RIGHT IN FRONT OF HER. This isn't the worst thing that could happen & sure, they were busy but, I would expect some sort of empathy from atleast ONE of these employees and nothing. Business as usual I guess? Edit: I went to pick up his remains in the Urn today and the person there actually said she was sorry for my loss. & when returning home I received a very heartfelt card in the mail addressed to me and my pet from Becker with their condolences. When my chameleon was sick they left my aunt and I waiting for 2 whole hours only to leave us with medicine (by the way didn't help our chameleon just ended up dying in the end) Another time my boyfriend and I were trying to save a little kitten and they kept our tiny kitty over night and left him freezing and he died the next day. Without even attempting to help him whatsoever. All they cared about is the cost and it pissed me off because why should I pay for the little effort they put into "caring" these animals? I have had many bad experiences here, and I have decided to finally never go back. Before you go here (especially in an emergency situation), please research your options in the area. There are several other 24/7 walk in vet clinics around the city that are worth the extra drive time to get to them. I came here in an emergency situation about 2 years ago when my cat started having a strange episode in the middle of the night. I brought her in, and explained to them it was an emergency and they got her back pretty quickly but it was a couple hours before I was given information about her status. They told me she needed oxygen and a slew of tests, which I agreed to immediately, thinking it was necessary! Then they told me to leave, and that I would be called with updates. Unfortunately I never saw my cat alive again, and it still saddens me to think she passed without anyone she knew nearby. The doctor on the phone seemed to think it was clear from the get go that she wasn't going to survive, so it confused me in retrospect why they told me to go home. When I went to pick up her body, they asked me to come into the back area and they handed her to me loosely wrapped in a ripped old towel that seemed to be soiled with feces or some brown fluid. Not a box, or even a blanket that covered her face. They told me to leave through the back door so no one in the waiting area would see. She was a white cat, and so it was easy to see that her fur was matted and soiled. I'm not sure if she became so dirty before she died or after, but seeing her that way was a traumatic experience for me. Oh, and, this happened two years ago and I JUST now paid off the insane vet bill for it. Becker refuses to take payment plans so they told me to take out a credit card through them (Care Credit) to pay the amount in full that night. Aside from this sentimentally damaging experience, they also are super overpriced and take HOURS just for a simple check up. Some of the vets seem nice, but they are simply bogged down with too many animals and an idiotic and insensitive (and probably underpaid) vet tech staff.Go somewhere else! Read Less

After helping my parents get out of the house during a  fire and going back for her chihuahua friend, Matilda was rescued by fire fighters. She was then brought to Becker Animal Hospital VCA to be treated for smoke inhalation. Dr. Arrington along with the  Becker Animal Hospital VCA's medical team worked endlessly to save Matilda's  life. Their dedication to her care continued on even after she was discharged. I REALLY wanted to give this place a good review because I think Dr. Z was wonderful but everything else about this place was appalling! First of all expect a wait. We have been multiple times and have never waited under 45 min just to get checked in. Understandably emergencies do come in and take first priority but even then the wait times are out of control. The front counter staff is slow and most of them have poor attitudes. When we went to pick up our dog who had to stay overnight we called at 9pm to let them know we would be there at 10pm. We arrived, waited in line and then sat for 3 hours. We did not get our dog back until 1am!  During our 3 hour wait for pick up we noticed many things that did not sit well with us, for instance a dog urinated inside  and it was never cleaned up.  Other than the fact that this place is open 24/7 and good for emergencies, if you have any other options avoid this place! So we have brought our dog here on a few occasions and the staff has been pretty nice, I do like the doctors and the care and compassion they give but as of today I don't think I we will be bringing our dog back they have decided to restrict the number of times you can see YOUR animal to 2 times a day! I find it rediculous, I understand they have other dogs and maybe u should visit 10+ times a day but really you can only visit TWICE a day..... I'm not ok with that. If u take ur fur bby just make sure you aware of all there polices and the particular visiting hrs they have and how those hours are not conducive to the majority of their customers that have day jobs. Drove in from out of town to visit my mom when she told me her dog was sick. Took her toy Pomeranian bc it was having breathing problems. We were quickly rushed to the back so it could be examined. It turned out she needed emergency surgery but bc of her age she probably would not have survived the surgery. The Doctor and Andrew were class act. Even though she was not my dog, Andrew was very consoling. If I lived in San Antonio, I definitely would return and highly recommend all pet owners go to Becker. Read Less

I hadn't yet had the chance, or mind set, to come on here....but firstly I want to say thank you to Dr. Natalee Ziegler for being so kind and compassionate with our family as we went through the process of diagnosing and ultimately euthanizing our buddy. She thoroughly explained his diagnosis and plans of care that we could opt for. She also glady re-examined Mellow, our little buddy, when we were concerned that his condition had worsened. She was also there when we said goodbye to him and let us have all the time with Mellow that we wanted before and after his passing. The staff there at Becker have been nothing short of amazing to our family. Thank you for everything and thank you for the condolence card we received via mail. It hasnt been easy coping with losing Mellow, but the fact that you guys were available and ready to help us during this difficult time, truly helped with the process. Very dissapointed. Apparently, Dr. Becker no longer works at this location. Anyway, I took my 7 month old puppy into the vet because she appeared to have a vaginal infection (puss & blood). After waiting to see the vet, they took me into the HALLWAY to look at her. Yes, the hallway, not an exam room and he looked for about 4 seconds, told me it was her period, and assured me everything was fine all the while my puppy is terrified of people coming in and out of the swinging doors 3 feet from us. Billed me $180 and I took her home. It got worse and I got a proper diagnosis and antibiotics from a more reputable vet. 2nd experience - Girlfriend took her dog in because it had worms. They didn't give the dog a large enough dose and I figured it out by googling the proper dose online. Had to go back because it didn't clear out the worms and I let them know how much to give her. I can not begin to explain how grateful I am to the staff at Becker. A month ago when my dog was extremely sick I took her to another vet emergency hospital and after 4 hours waiting my dog was only getting worse so I left and went to Becker. I explained the situation to the staff and told them how long I had been waiting at the other hospital and they immediately took me to the back to see the vet. They said they didn't want me to wait more than I already had. The vet and tech were so sweet and courteous, explaining everything they were going to do for my dog and they were very up front about the prices. I honestly cried in front of the vet because I was so scared I was going to lose my dog who is like my baby and she did everything she could to reassure me everything would be fine. My dog ended up having to stay for 24 hours because she was extremely dehydrated and need IV fluids and they let me walk back to where was going to be and said I could come see her throughout the day if I wanted to or I could call to check on her. They did such an amazing job and she has been doing much better ever since! Read Less

Took in my cat after coyote attack! Declared an emergency and the staff reacted accordingly. The doctor came right to my cat and saw to his needs.they treated me with compassion and sensitivity! I am grateful to the staff for that! The hospital was clean and smelled good well stocked and lighted! I am a fan of Becker animal hospital they are my go to place for my pets needs! BTW Baxter my manx cat is doing well and should make a full recovery! The coyote and I came to an agreement courtesy of my Louisville slugger no more hunting at the apt complex where I live! My family used to see Dr. Becker back when he had his small practice. Since it's grown it's lost its customer service. Drs. are very helpful however the business itself needs to step it up. In addition to the animal hospital they also have the resort and grooming area which is all handed by ONE desk with 2 employees checking in. Be willing to wait a minimum of 30 minutes to an hour to be called back to the waiting room and then another 30 minutes to an hour to actually be seen. I've come here at 7am for routine check up for my pet, no other people on the waiting area and I still did not get out to 11am. With as much business as they're getting and the amount of providers AND staff it makes no sense to be here for 3 hours for routine services. I've also left 2 of my pets to get fixed here and when I come to pick them up I have waited a minimum of 2 hours for them to bring them out. It's just a pick up so I don't understand why it takes so long. The only time I didn't wait longer than 5 minutes was when I came in for an emergency. Overall, great veterinarians but definitely not worth the wait for routine services. Are response to emergency cases within a timely manner (given that's what they are, a HOSPITAL). If they had separate check in areas for the animal hospital and the resort area perhaps their hospital would run smoother and their front office would be more personable. Truly wish Dr. Becker hadn't expanded and kept his smaller practice that provided way better quality care.Read Less

Becker Animal Hospital is a very nice Clinic. They have excellent staff who are very kind and caring and they take care of your animals quite well. I have used Becker Animal Hospital for the four years that I've lived in San Antonio, and in that time I have been there many different times with regular check-ups to emergency visits to just needing somewhere to go because my regular vet is closed. Their grooming department is great I've gone there for their awesome priced dog bath and Grooming. The only downfall to Becker Animal Hospital is nine times out of 10 you will spend two to four hours depending on what you are there for. The amount of time spent there is my biggest concern and problem with using Becker Animal Hospital, but they are a very busy Clinic and I understand that and can accept that. I appreciate that they take emergencies very seriously, as my cat was rushed back to the emergency room immediately upon check in at 8am on Tuesday. Be prepared for a long, long wait if you're going between 3pm and 11pm. Picking him up after treatment took two hours because it was 4pm on Saturday and the place was packed, though still organized and well ordered. We regularly take our dog to the groomer for his nails and they do a great job. We go at like 2am and there's absolutely no wait. There's a communication issue between the front desk and the back rooms sometimes, information doesn't get passed along very expediently (I checked in to pick up my cat and I had to remind them an hour and a half later because no one told Emergency). Overall, well go here for future emergencies and any quick grooming, but stick to the regular vet for yearly stuff.Read Less

I took my cat Pearl there to get her nails cut and they did an amazing job the first time I went Pearl's nails weren't done correctly so I called I spoke to Victoria on January 18th at about 7:45 p.m. I explained to her the situation and she was so very helpful I told her I didn't feel her nails were cut short enough because it's only had been like a week and my cat's nails were very long again she said no problem bring your cat back in and we'll give you a complimentary cut so I did and her nails were done just fine I think it's a great place I see everybody happy the dogs and cats and birds come out just happy and I will continue to go there thank you so much Read Less

Worst experience ever. Called ahead and rushed my dog in for an emergency. I get there and what do they do, they tell me they will do an estimate and I have to pay in full BEFORE they begin treatment. This all takes over 30 minutes. Thirty minutes of no treatment. That is not emergency treatment. My dog died. To make it worse I asked for cremation and the ashes returned in a cedar urn. I also paid for a paw print and never got it. What I did get was the ashes in a black ceramic urn. I also had to call to see if she was ready for me to pick up because no one ever called me. Turns out she had been ready for days, 8 to be exact. I will never go back with another pet or recommend to anyone in Rescue. Read Less

I love that its open 24/7 and no appt necessary. Has water n crackers for parents of their furbabies n treats for the furbabies. But...... We took our 2 dogs for their yearly vaccinations. Got there and waited about 30 mins to to called. They took my babies in. Then I noticed that all others that came behind me were leaving their furbabies there n they left. Told my husband about my observation. Now its 2 hours after they took my babies in. Got up and asked receptionist what was taking so long. She redponded that the "blood machine" wasn't working and that we could leave and they would call us back. DANG IT! That's why the others were leaving! They told them and not us! So we left and waited for their phone call. Couple of hours later they called and stated my babies were ready to be picked up. So we get there and ask for my babies. They tell us they will bring them right out. Well.....we waited n waited. After 30 mins I went and asked where are my babies. They took their names down and they were going to check. They came back and said they would be out soon. Waited another 20 mins. They could see my facial expression that I was upset. Finally they came out. $400 bill. But yet I had to wait, check up on the status, follow up.... Will I take them back to Beckers? I don't think so....as of now.Read Less

I rushed my 11 yr old chihuahua to this 24 hr animal hospital when he began struggling to breathe. The doctor took x-rays and blood and ultimately diagnosed him with heart failure. The staff was friendly and helpful and I felt that the vet had great bedside manner and professionalism. The cost of care was affordable and the follow up visits are free. The only complaint that i have is the wait time to be seen. We waited in the exam room for 30 min each visit before we were seen by a tech.I will continue to take my dogs here and would recommend it to others. Read Less

We had to take my dads sheltie in for vomiting. (I inherited her when my dad passed) they did see her quickly. Turned out to be kidney failure and there was nothing that could be done. We had to put her down. I didn't like the extra fee they charge if you want to stay in the room but understand it. The staff was nice, the place was clean. I wish the paw print wouldn't of cost so much, I've been to several vets that don't charge extra for that when they put a pet down. Instead of that being another money maker, they should do it for free for grieving pet parents. It would be a way to show that you care more about the families and pets then you do the money. We've taken our loved furry family members here for a long while. We can tell that they truly do care about them as much as we do. The staff is friendly and the facility is clean! We even adopted our newest kitty from them. My only complaint is not getting update phone calls when we had to our kitten go to surgery. We can to call and wait on hold quite a few times just to get an update. They did work through Thanksgiving though! I'm thankful to those that spent their time working that evening. Lost our precious Malcolm's paw print. Really? Yeh, our cat got killed and we are new in San Antonio so hadn't established a vet. Went to Becker for cremation. Should have known by the way they cattle-herd people and animals through the place. You don't sign in then wait in a waiting room. No, everyone and their pets stand in line! Sometimes a very long line. So, okay. I'll buck up and not be a crybaby about the lost paw print. But it's irreplaceable and Becker was careless and irresponsible. The question is, is that the kind of place you want to trust your pet to? Living or dead. Would you trust them to keep your records safe? To give your pet the right medication? If you care about your pet, maybe this isn't the place. Read Less

Dr. Mosites and the staff were great. Very kind and explained in detail what was going on and for what reasons. I took my 2 cats for general exams and I wasn't pressured to buy or add anything the cats didn't need. Service bill was extremely reasonable and wait time was minimal. I got there at 9am and left by 10:15am. Both cats examined and vaccines administered. I called around to other vets and I kept getting quoted higher fees and appointments needed. Becker staff even gave me a quote for the neuter and spay services that was way cheaper than other places. I know there are low cost spay clinics but I've been on a "waiting list" for over 1 month. Becker Animal Hospital can be a great experience if you don't set your expectations too ridiculous. They have excellent hours of operation and one of the few places in San Antonio that have around-the-clock care for any type of an emergency pet need. I had a wonderful visit yesterday. The girl at the front desk, CeCe, was absolutely fantastic! She was very thorough in all of her explanations and kept her cool regardless of the line that was forming behind me. Why would you people go through all that schooling and training, just to turn sick animals away because the entire amount couldn't be paid up front ? I went to the Becker Animal Hospital with a new puppy as a walk in. I have been there before and never had issues. However, this time the wait was ridiculous. It really felt like a hospital where you have to wait hours because they take emergency's before just a check up or sick person. Which I completely understand but I was told wait wasn't long and ended up waiting almost 3 hours without ever being seen. I just left. They have gotten too popular and the wait isn't worth it. I just think they need a better walk in system, where maybe half the staff does emergency's and the other half non emergency. Read Less

Parking lot and waiting room were full at 9:00 pm. My dog was in labor but hadn't delivered a pup in over 2 hours so i took her in as a precaution. they called for a "staff to the front, stat" and then that person took an emergency that walked in after me and had not talked to front desk. I was a little disappointed. But they got someone to come right out and they took me back and Dr. Denk was so kind and attentive. Keisha ended up delivering her next pup shortly after getting there. They watched her for over an hour before recommending x-ray to see how many pups. She then recommended i take her home for a comfortable labor but to call with any issues. yesenia was sweet tech! i will definitely go back despite all the chaos in the waiting room. Read Less

After seeing that there was no more that I could do for her, I recently made the difficult decision to put my cat to sleep. With the help of incredibly sympathetic, respectful staff, my closest, childhood friend is now at peace. Euthanasia is an incredibly delicate process and I couldn't ask for staff to have handled it more sensitively: I will never forget the way your doctors honored the emotions and needs of my cat and I. All that transpired is near and dear to my heart. I'm infinitely and inexpressibly grateful to Becker Animal Hospital and its veterinarians for affording my cat with the lay to rest she deserved.
