Been coming to this place and seeing Dr. Yates for 10 years. He's old school and gets to point. Doesn't waste time making you buy things you don't need for your pet. If you don't need it he'll tell you save your money! Good vet. Read Less

I’ve thought for the better part of a year about posting this review because I hate to hurt a small local business but the grieving I’ve had to endure over the negligence of this office has to be voiced. After reading the excellent reviews & being personally referred to this clinic, I started bringing all of my animals to the Zarzamora Vet Clinic as needed over the better part of 3 years. My family all transferred care from their long time vet to Zarzamora as well. We were impressed by the innate kindness of Dr. Gates, flexibility of the office & great rates. Over the course of those years, I brought one of my cats in on at least 5 occasions as I was extremely anxious about his eating habits. It seemed to me he was more than just a picky eater for a cat; he was vomiting almost after every meal. I came to Dr. Gates asking if we needed to run labs or get on a medicated diet. Each visit, he would do a general physical exam and each visit would end the same: he would tell me that he wasn’t gaining or losing any significant weight and there was absolutely nothing to concern him and I would only be wasting my money on lab work. After the 5th visit (and multiple changes in food structure) he told me if it continued, we would try a medicated diet. It did continue, but I trusted this Doctor (who had a degree, despite my anxiety) and even though my cat continued to suffer with vomiting each meal, he had no variance in weight so I decided to just stick to the same food. One night, I came home from a concert to find that my baby had suffered a brain aneurism & lost his ability to see and walk. I took him to an emergency vet where I was told he had lymphoma and it most likely had spread to his brain. She showed me the bump on his shoulder which could not have been more evident except I was untrained to it. This infuriated me and hurt me deeply and I have never truly recovered. Maybe I should have got a second option and I could have saved him but I trusted my home vet with the degree to find cancer in my animal which was immediately evident to the emergency vet when it was too late. I’ll always feel guilty like I could have done more but in retrospect, I did do everything I could have. If you think this vet is too good to be true, or you are uncertain about their diagnosis, please just use caution and get a second opinion if you feel something is still wrong. Our animals are family. Accidents happen but I just felt compelled to share my particular experience. Read Less
