I really wish I could give them more stars. The people at the front were very nice to my dog and me, but the actual visit was weird. I was just bringing my dog in for a routine check up and booster shots. The nurse tallied up how much it would cost and hit us with a bill of around $420. The vet we visit when we're in Houston charged us $128 last time. Somehow this vet was three times as expensive. The examination room was fine, albeit a bit bare. The doctor was fine, but the nurse was kind of gruff with us. When it was time for his testing and shots, they took him to a back room (leaving us in the examination room). Our dog was pretty unhappy and scared when he got back. I've had dogs all my life, and I've never ever seen a vet take my dog away for vaccines. Sketchy.A lot of the $420 bill came from an expensive heart worm and flea preventative medication. We needed a USDA-APHIS certified vet to give our dogs an exam and fill out paperwork in order to travel with them out of the country. I called a few clinics and was relieved when I finally came across one who was properly certified. I became immediately disappointed when the receptionist told me it would cost $390 PER dog to have the forms filled out justifying the cost by saying it is "a lot of work." Thankfully I continued to call around and found another certified vet that would do the exam and fill out the forms for $80 per dog. The "a lot of work" involved in filling out the forms took less than 10 minutes. After full rounds of vaccines, physical exams, deworming and completed documents for two dogs with excellent customer service, our total at the other clinic was just over $400, about the cost of one FORM from this place. This clinic is running a racket; please save your money and take your business elsewhere. Read Less

I've been going here for years. I love all the doctors and staff. Everyone is always excited to see my dog and all are friendly and helpful every single time I've been in. The technicians go through the cost of anything for your pet before they do anything, and it's much appreciated! My dog has allergies so I have to bring her in more than your typical healthy dog. Dr. Seaton has been wonderfully helpful giving an immune supplement suggestion for my dog and recipe ideas for my dog's meals. I also love that they e-mail a detailed medical record after each visit. My pup always comes home with a cute little bow on her collar after each visit too. I love everything about this place! Read Less

So this vet could be 5 stars but my sample size was limited enough I didn't want to be deceiving. I will however just share some very nice things. The staff was super friendly, we went there on a voucher from the animal clinic to spade and neuter our two cats, and they never treated us like "those guys." They were informative, and they spent time explaining things to us.The paperwork wasn't a hassle, and it didn't take long at all, which on your way to work is a bigger convenience then it probably should be.The staff seems to really care about animals. I know this should be a given or maybe not a big deal but it made my wife and I feel better about our decision. The only advice for future guests I would say is, speak to the same person if you call multiple times. There can be confusion with multiple people answering phones, and a little lost here or there. They definitely earned a guest for the next visit at the very least. Read Less

The staff at Springtown was really comforting and helpful during a very stressful time. My two year old cat had managed to eat a shoelace of some sort and had been vomiting for days as well as not eating or drinking and sleeping in hidden places. I got him in first thing Monday morning and after finding out he needed surgery I was terrified and freaking out, no one wants to think about the possibility of losing their fur baby! The staff made me feel like my cat and I were I priority, and unlike other vets I've been to they were honest and affectionate. I'm a student and needed help from my family and they were completely understanding about my family wanting to ask questions and get to speak to the doctor themselves as well as sending them the x-rays, all in a timely manner while dealing with other patients and pets. After the surgery they called me to tell me everything went well, and also called my father to let him know how the surgery went as well. And because of previous experiences with other vets I would have expected them to just let me pass along the message. I will definitely continue to bring my kitty to them and I am so grateful for their kindness. Read Less

This place is frustrating when you have a healthy dog that sometimes has minor issues such as ear problems. Speaking to the Ann is surely no help, she has poor communication skills and lacks concern for the patients concern's or knowledge. Apparently when you dog hasn't been in for 6 months that is considered a long time. Seems like they are always trying the most invasive treatments before least invasive, which is completely opposite to the rest of the healthcare system. As you know humans and animals are treated differently. I'm sure they mean well and are better then most places, some instances are completely frustrating, saying things like "we just want the best thing for your dog" no JOKE me too, that is why i called, HOW OFFENSIVE. Springtown Veterinary Hospital saved my dog Elvis's life twice. When he was 7, he fell off of the bed and ruptured a disk in his spine. He was paralyzed from the midsection down and Dr. Nowland came out to the car to exam him and directed me to a surgical specialist in Austin. The staff at Springtown took care of everything and I was able to take Elvis right over and get him treated right away. When he was 9, they found cancer in the lymph nodes under is shoulder blade, affecting his right front leg. They spoke with me about the options and together we decided to amputate his leg to remove the cancer. Dr. Nowland did a wonderful job and Elvis was back on feet a day later. He lived to be 15 years old. We moved away a few years ago and have lived in Boston and Philadelphia and I can say that we never found a veterinary practice that even came close to Springtown. The staff there always made such a fuss over Elvis and treated him like he was own of their own. You never saw a dog so excited to go the doctor. Thank you Springtown. I will be forever grateful to you for giving me 15 years with Elvis. You guys really are fantastic and you make a big difference in the lives of you patients and their families.Read Less

After we broke up with our last vet, we began the quest to find competent medical care for our kitties in San Marcos. A colleague of mine who used to work as a vet tech in Austin said that she had heard good things about Springtown Veterinary Hospital, so we gave them a call and made an appointment. This first thing I noticed upon walking into this place was how competent the staff seemed. From the ladies working the front desk to the vet tech who greeted us and ushered us into an exam room, everyone clearly knew what they were about, which was a refreshing change. They all also seemed to have a genuine love and concern for the animals under their care. Due to one of our cat's poor health, we've been back here several times in the past few months and we have been very happy with the care we've received. We've had appointments with Dr. Seaton and Dr. Jordan, both of whom were incredibly nice ladies who took the time to explain all the treatments they recommended and why they recommended them, and then went over the results with us like we were competent human beings and not ignorant neanderthals encountering fire for the first time. When we've asked for a recommendation on whether or not to get a pricier test done, I did not feel pressured in the decision at all. We were presented with the facts and then a very honest appraisal of cost vs. benefit. I really appreciate not only the care we received for our pets but the care they give to their human clients. One caveat to this review is that Springtown is not cheap. They do offer a few payment options to lessen the financial burden, including an open line to CareCredit, a zero interest credit card company specifically for medical costs. They also except two major brands of pet insurance that I know of, perhaps more. For the quality of care that we've received here for out pets, the increase in fees has been well worth it. Read Less

Read Less

Fast, nice, and clean. Went over the prices with me before any exam. Think they were overly cautious about my cat's mildly inflamed ears, but I just got her from the pound so I told them I was happy to pay for an antibiotic just to make sure she was safe. Overall a great experience that my cat didn't seem to mind at all. $20 off new patients. About $300 total for my cat's exam, two antibiotics, flea and tick medicine, and general tests. The price I expected.

Read Less

Very pricy and very rude. The young vet tech girl who worked with me was very sweet and understanding, but the actual vet that came in was very condescending and rude. I am a college student who cannot afford a $50 ear cleaning, $50 AIDS test, $60 antibiotic, $80 pain medication, and the $52 charge for them to simply see us, all in one day. Every time I opted for the cheaper solution she was very rude and continuously made me feel very guilty for not being able to afford the high dollar care.

Read Less
