From my experience with this vet, I’ve learned to read all reviews and not trust an overall rating. I wish I never switched to this vet. I have taken two of my 5 animals to 3 visits for different issues. There has never been more than one other animal there, yet I wait forever before the tech even comes in. My first visit my male was referred to a neurologist immediately. I know my dog and Boxers and knew it wasn’t neurological. My gut said to find a new vet and I didn’t listen. Now I’m faced with my baby girl having cancer and surgery scheduled a few days away and them wanting $309 (for a single 6 year female boxer) just for annual shots/exam. That is on top of the $1400+ to remove her mass. My last vet was absolutely incredible and I got all possible shots, exam, heart worm test and more for the dogs for $166 each. It would be one thing if the service was worth the money and I felt comfortable with the experience of the vet. A vet with 25 years experience should be able to diagnose medical issues or have an idea what it would be. This vet displayed no knowledge was gained in 25 years. I do not feel my fur babies are in very good hands here at all. In this case, I did NOT get what I paid for.

The experience I had at Friendship was indeed friendly. I have a 4 month old puppy who was with my mom while I was at work and he literally eats everything. Apparently he ingested something he shouldnt have and the vet and techs at this place were sooooo helpful and caring. They answered all of our questions and treated my Juice like he was their own. I will return (hopefully not) if I have to! And the price was affordable.

I called on a late night and the front desk clerk (so sorry I forgot her name but she’s a sweetheart) provided me the details of a visit...and capped it off by saying they provide estimates UP FRONT! That was a relief. I noticed while I was waiting to be seen that the front desk got about 10-15 calls asking the same exact questions I asked. When I suggested they set up an automated response to alleviate high calls inquiring about the same info she went into detail about the service she offers to customers goes beyond convenience. The Pet Hospital holds their customers and their furry family members in the highest regards and can only showcase that up front by providing a human interaction...not a machine. I was thoroughly impressed and moved by the values they hold and practice every minute. After being seen, the vet was extremely knowledgeable and helpful in our circumstance and her (as well as the vet tech) helped me administer my pup’s first round of meds to show me how to administer. Truly top notch service provided was provided by this team...genuine care is hard to find these days and they nail it with incredible simplicity. If I’m need of expedient, excellent care, look no further!

We had a great experience when our 10 yo healthy dog had an episode where he was clearly in pain, panting, not able to get comfortable. The receptionist was kind and helpful and the vet tech was skilled and compassionate. The vet was very thorough and seemed to care more about our dog than in selling us products or services he did not need. Prices were competitive and not more expensive after hours.

It was a Sunday and my baby wasn't feeling well. This was my first visit to Friendship Pet Hospital and I was greeted with compassion and concern. I was especially happy to see that the desk attendant actually knew us from our vet and she was familiar with our dog. She knew right away something wasn't right. Although the wait was long (of course, I was a walk-in), my boy was checked on regularly to make sure he didn't need emergency care. My overall experience was nothing short of amazing. Everyone I saw come in were treated the same as I--these people truly care about our fur-babies. Within a couple days, my boy was back to his rambunctious self. Thank you for being available for us!

The staff is nice, but I feel like every time I go it's a cash grab. Went back to our other vet for a second opinion (switched because it's further) and even they were shocked at the price we paid for bloodwork. Will stick with our old school vet who doesn't have to send everything out to be checked.
And don't hesitate to get a second opinion. Friendship just wanted to keep running more and more tests, and then send our dog to the emergency clinic. The other vet looked at the tests Friendship already ran and new right away what the problem was (which Friendship couldn't tell).
If you don't mind paying through the nose and waiting for results, Friendship is great.

My husband and I have been with Friendship Pet Hospital since Aug 2011 because they truly care about your pet and treats them like one of their own. We have a special puppy who almost died at the age of 3 due to Autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA) and if it wasn't for the caring staff at Friendship our puppy would not be with us today!! Thanks to all their help and support she has recovered but she still has some health issues that flair up and the caring folks ALWAYS have time for us and especially for her!! She actually loves everyone there when we have to visit them, she acts like it's her day at the spa with her friends. Between Joan and Lauren who spoil her rotten to Laurel and the others who just genuinely care our puppy thinks its AWESOME to go to the vet!! So you know that speaks volumes in itself!! Dr's Stephens, Marbach and Briggs explain things in detail so you understand what is going on and they give you options so you always know what to expect. I would recommend them to anyone who wants their pet to be loved and cared for while undergoing their yearly exam or a serious incident. They are FABULOUS!!

This place is amazing. They knew who we were right when we walked in the door and greeted my puppy as if they'd known him his whole little life. I so loved that. The techs, front desk, and the doctor were all super nice and amazing. Very thorough. It's unfortunate that they are our 3rd vet in the past week and half. But they are the only ones who offer payment plans. So that being said they most definitely have our business and I will more than definitely recommend them to anyone who asks.

Our little toy poodle was extremely lethargic and throwing up for several hours and would not eat or drink. I brought him in and he was seen within just a few minutes after arriving. Emergency visit as I was visiting a friend. They were able to call my other vet to verify shot records. Were through, and gentle. Gave me options about how far I could go with treatment and cost of each up front. My only complaint would be what it is with every vet I see- the up sell on shots, and Un necessary blood work to solve the immediate issue. But they still treated us nice even when I refused. I appreciate that. The emergency visit was very reasonable, less than $100 including medicine. I would return again.

They're my favorite! Best vet team I've ever known! Will cater to your needs, and look out for your pet's best interest. They are very compensating, and make you feel like they care more about your pet's wellness over trying to get every penny from your wallet. They are genuine, and giving. They have helped all 3 of my dogs. One was really sick and near death, and gave us a great quote for a surgery where another vet was going to charge thousands more. And the other two dogs I have both had random sicknesses and they carefully diagnosed and treated them, while making us feel very loved. They also helped my friend's cat who had an abscess, and completely helped her, when the cat would've probably become critical within days of that if not treated.

Absolutely wonderful experience here- They were open on a Saturday (which is rare) and accepted us as a walk-in. The front desk people were very friendly and the vet was very patient (our poor dog is very skittish around strangers) and knowledgeable. They were also well priced and did not charge an arm and a leg to help our little guy.

This vet ins AMAZING. The best I have seen in San Antonio so far. She's not like most vets who man handle dogs to try and get things done fast. She got on my dogs level and was kind as can be to him. She even played with him. She was very knowledgeable in my breed(Border Collies) and even took phenomenal hip xrays without sedation. I will be going here from now on. I was just amazed. The tech was even super nice. 5 star quality for sure. I love it there.

I usually don't write reviews but had to when I read all the negativity here. I have never once had a bad experience with this vet! In fact, one of my dogs is extremely timid and he warmed right up to all the techs and doctors. I don't feel like they try to push or upsell at all. They make the right recommendations but if I am not ready to buy, they don't pass judgement. The pricing is fair too!
I only have two complaints: 1. I wish they had better hours. I work long days and it is hard to take off work to get the pups in, even on the weekends 2. I wish they took American Express!

I started taking my dog Maggie to see Dr. Stephens for acupuncture and laser therapy for degenerative changes in her joints (arthritis). This clinic is amazing and all the staff and vets are so warm and friendly. They really do care about the animals that walk through their doors and as a pet owner I really appreciate that. I feel like my animals are in good hands here and trust the staff fully with helping me make the right decisions for my pets. They have a state of the art facility equipped with digital radiology, capabilities to run blood work in house, perform surgeries, and provide laser therapy or acupuncture for animals with chronic pain. I wouldn't think twice before referring one of my friends or family to Friendship Pet Hospital, because they are just that good.

My dog Daisy had a life threatening emergency. she was rapidly taken into the exam room and they worked on her like she was a human in an ER. she required surgery and 2 days of hospitalization. The staff was caring, and very kind to me. They never acted tired of my phone calls and requests for updates. Dr. Zachry is the best! If it wasn't for her I know my dog would not be alive today. this office is about 20 minutes from my house but I am definately coming here in the future. Thank you Dr. Zachary and all the staff at Gentle Care Pet Hospital.

From my experience with this vet, I’ve learned to read all reviews and not trust an overall rating. I wish I never switched to this vet. I have taken two of my 5 animals to 3 visits for different issues. There has never been more than one other animal there, yet I wait forever before the tech even comes in. My first visit my male was referred to a neurologist immediately. I know my dog and Boxers and knew it wasn’t neurological. My gut said to find a new vet and I didn’t listen. Now I’m faced with my baby girl having cancer and surgery scheduled a few days away and them wanting $309 (for a single 6 year female boxer) just for annual shots/exam. That is on top of the $1400+ to remove her mass. My last vet was absolutely incredible and I got all possible shots, exam, heart worm test and more for the dogs for $166 each. It would be one thing if the service was worth the money and I felt comfortable with the experience of the vet. A vet with 25 years experience should be able to diagnose medical issues or have an idea what it would be. This vet displayed no knowledge was gained in 25 years. I do not feel my fur babies are in very good hands here at all. In this case, I did NOT get what I paid for.

The experience I had at Friendship was indeed friendly. I have a 4 month old puppy who was with my mom while I was at work and he literally eats everything. Apparently he ingested something he shouldnt have and the vet and techs at this place were sooooo helpful and caring. They answered all of our questions and treated my Juice like he was their own. I will return (hopefully not) if I have to! And the price was affordable.

I called on a late night and the front desk clerk (so sorry I forgot her name but she’s a sweetheart) provided me the details of a visit...and capped it off by saying they provide estimates UP FRONT! That was a relief. I noticed while I was waiting to be seen that the front desk got about 10-15 calls asking the same exact questions I asked. When I suggested they set up an automated response to alleviate high calls inquiring about the same info she went into detail about the service she offers to customers goes beyond convenience. The Pet Hospital holds their customers and their furry family members in the highest regards and can only showcase that up front by providing a human interaction...not a machine. I was thoroughly impressed and moved by the values they hold and practice every minute. After being seen, the vet was extremely knowledgeable and helpful in our circumstance and her (as well as the vet tech) helped me administer my pup’s first round of meds to show me how to administer. Truly top notch service provided was provided by this team...genuine care is hard to find these days and they nail it with incredible simplicity. If I’m need of expedient, excellent care, look no further!

We had a great experience when our 10 yo healthy dog had an episode where he was clearly in pain, panting, not able to get comfortable. The receptionist was kind and helpful and the vet tech was skilled and compassionate. The vet was very thorough and seemed to care more about our dog than in selling us products or services he did not need. Prices were competitive and not more expensive after hours.

It was a Sunday and my baby wasn't feeling well. This was my first visit to Friendship Pet Hospital and I was greeted with compassion and concern. I was especially happy to see that the desk attendant actually knew us from our vet and she was familiar with our dog. She knew right away something wasn't right. Although the wait was long (of course, I was a walk-in), my boy was checked on regularly to make sure he didn't need emergency care. My overall experience was nothing short of amazing. Everyone I saw come in were treated the same as I--these people truly care about our fur-babies. Within a couple days, my boy was back to his rambunctious self. Thank you for being available for us!

The staff is nice, but I feel like every time I go it's a cash grab. Went back to our other vet for a second opinion (switched because it's further) and even they were shocked at the price we paid for bloodwork. Will stick with our old school vet who doesn't have to send everything out to be checked.
And don't hesitate to get a second opinion. Friendship just wanted to keep running more and more tests, and then send our dog to the emergency clinic. The other vet looked at the tests Friendship already ran and new right away what the problem was (which Friendship couldn't tell).
If you don't mind paying through the nose and waiting for results, Friendship is great.

My husband and I have been with Friendship Pet Hospital since Aug 2011 because they truly care about your pet and treats them like one of their own. We have a special puppy who almost died at the age of 3 due to Autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA) and if it wasn't for the caring staff at Friendship our puppy would not be with us today!! Thanks to all their help and support she has recovered but she still has some health issues that flair up and the caring folks ALWAYS have time for us and especially for her!! She actually loves everyone there when we have to visit them, she acts like it's her day at the spa with her friends. Between Joan and Lauren who spoil her rotten to Laurel and the others who just genuinely care our puppy thinks its AWESOME to go to the vet!! So you know that speaks volumes in itself!! Dr's Stephens, Marbach and Briggs explain things in detail so you understand what is going on and they give you options so you always know what to expect. I would recommend them to anyone who wants their pet to be loved and cared for while undergoing their yearly exam or a serious incident. They are FABULOUS!!

This place is amazing. They knew who we were right when we walked in the door and greeted my puppy as if they'd known him his whole little life. I so loved that. The techs, front desk, and the doctor were all super nice and amazing. Very thorough. It's unfortunate that they are our 3rd vet in the past week and half. But they are the only ones who offer payment plans. So that being said they most definitely have our business and I will more than definitely recommend them to anyone who asks.

Our little toy poodle was extremely lethargic and throwing up for several hours and would not eat or drink. I brought him in and he was seen within just a few minutes after arriving. After several shots and fluids we were on our way back home. Within a few hours he was back to playing with his brother. Staff was absolutely wonderful.

Emergency visit as I was visiting a friend. They were able to call my other vet to verify shot records. Were through, and gentle. Gave me options about how far I could go with treatment and cost of each up front. My only complaint would be what it is with every vet I see- the up sell on shots, and Un necessary blood work to solve the immediate issue. But they still treated us nice even when I refused. I appreciate that. The emergency visit was very reasonable, less than $100 including medicine. I would return again.

They're my favorite! Best vet team I've ever known! Will cater to your needs, and look out for your pet's best interest. They are very compensating, and make you feel like they care more about your pet's wellness over trying to get every penny from your wallet. They are genuine, and giving. They have helped all 3 of my dogs. One was really sick and near death, and gave us a great quote for a surgery where another vet was going to charge thousands more. And the other two dogs I have both had random sicknesses and they carefully diagnosed and treated them, while making us feel very loved. They also helped my friend's cat who had an abscess, and completely helped her, when the cat would've probably become critical within days of that if not treated.

I have been coming here for a couple of years with my cats. Dr. Newton always does an excellent job! I've had some emergencies with some of my cats and they were able to get them in right away. It's great to have a veterinarian office that really cares about the health of your pets. I definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a veterinarian.

Absolutely wonderful experience here- They were open on a Saturday (which is rare) and accepted us as a walk-in. The front desk people were very friendly and the vet was very patient (our poor dog is very skittish around strangers) and knowledgeable. They were also well priced and did not charge an arm and a leg to help our little guy.

This vet ins AMAZING. The best I have seen in San Antonio so far. She's not like most vets who man handle dogs to try and get things done fast. She got on my dogs level and was kind as can be to him. She even played with him. She was very knowledgeable in my breed(Border Collies) and even took phenomenal hip xrays without sedation. I will be going here from now on. I was just amazed. The tech was even super nice. 5 star quality for sure. I love it there.

I usually don't write reviews but had to when I read all the negativity here. I have never once had a bad experience with this vet! In fact, one of my dogs is extremely timid and he warmed right up to all the techs and doctors. I don't feel like they try to push or upsell at all. They make the right recommendations but if I am not ready to buy, they don't pass judgement. The pricing is fair too!
I only have two complaints: 1. I wish they had better hours. I work long days and it is hard to take off work to get the pups in, even on the weekends 2. I wish they took American Express!

I started taking my dog Maggie to see Dr. Stephens for acupuncture and laser therapy for degenerative changes in her joints (arthritis). This clinic is amazing and all the staff and vets are so warm and friendly. They really do care about the animals that walk through their doors and as a pet owner I really appreciate that. I feel like my animals are in good hands here and trust the staff fully with helping me make the right decisions for my pets. They have a state of the art facility equipped with digital radiology, capabilities to run blood work in house, perform surgeries, and provide laser therapy or acupuncture for animals with chronic pain. I wouldn't think twice before referring one of my friends or family to Friendship Pet Hospital, because they are just that good.

My dog Daisy had a life threatening emergency. she was rapidly taken into the exam room and they worked on her like she was a human in an ER. she required surgery and 2 days of hospitalization. The staff was caring, and very kind to me. They never acted tired of my phone calls and requests for updates. Dr. Zachry is the best! If it wasn't for her I know my dog would not be alive today. this office is about 20 minutes from my house but I am definately coming here in the future. Thank you Dr. Zachary and all the staff at Gentle Care Pet Hospital.
