We recently moved to Texas and needed to find a new vet. I did research on the vets in our area. Westridge received the most positive reviews. After our visit I understood why. Excellent clinic. We had a fur baby emergency and they took us in immediately. Handled my baby with care as if it was their own pet. Everyone was courteous and heard all our concerns. Great vet care for your pets. Our dog tore a ligament in her leg & we couldn't afford the surgery. They recommended alternative therapies & now she has regained use of her leg. I found this veterinary office partially by luck online. It's a 35 minute drive from our house but it's well worth it. I am so glad that we ended up here! My poor boy had been fighting a yeasty ear for the better part of a year. The previous vet, although very affordable, kept packing his ear and would only temporarily relieve the issue. We saw Dr. Sovereign and she treated him in a completely different manner and addressed the underlying infection along with the yeast. I'm confident that with some work on our part, Charlie's ear will be back to normal in a few weeks. The staff were so incredibly loving towards our boy. They gushed over him the whole time we were there and he loved them back :) I look forward to taking my other babies there as well as Charlie over the course of the rest of their lives! Do not waste your time with other traditional veterinary offices. These doctors take the working parts of traditional medicine and combine them with nutritional supplements and Chinese medicine. I live in the San Antonio area and had been going to the same vet for many, many years.  However, my pup was having some major back problems and my vet couldn't help her and pretty much told us that nothing was wrong with her.My hubby did some research and found Dr. Fransik at Westridge.  We decided to make an chiropractic appointment with her and honestly, we didn't know what to expect.  We showed up and the front desk was So friendly and I was so excited to see my pup's name on the "welcome" board.  It was so sweet.Dr Fransik is super sweet and did some x-rays and found that my pup had some slight nerve issues on her back.  She performed the back adjustment and like that..my pup was back to normal.  She started eating, was able to walk to her own, and was able to take long walks again! I was amazed.  Also, Dr. Fransik is all about the holistic approach and my little girl is on some herbal supplements too.  We go back once in awhile for back adjustments and have also started to go to her for normal vet visits.I strongly recommend this place for your fur-babies.  If you're coming from San Antonio..it's totally worth it. Totally awesome. The staff was very welcoming and Dr. Michelle Bammel was very thorough in examining my Bela. Since I adopted my poodle mix from the humane society I really didn't have any medical history on her. But Dr. Michelle took her time and checked for everything. I chose Westridge because the do offer holistic approach as well as traditional medicines and practices. The staff called me on the following day to check and see how my Bela was doing. Love this place, a great source of natural remedies. The staff is amazing and very respectful, when a pet has to be put to sleep they put a candle out letting people know to be quiet and respectful. Also their prices on meds are very competitive.Read Less

I was really impressed with this place! The waiting room was so peaceful and relaxing. I had to take my foster cat in for a chiropractic evaluation and adjustment with Dr. Fransik. She was running late due to an emergency surgery but the awesome staff were very attentive and made sure I was continually updated on the status. How refreshing!! They all seemed to love being there and it makes for a great environment. Just took my little Corky to see Dr. Bammel this morning. After a severe reaction to boosters that required a visit to an emergency vet, I was very nervous at the thought of Corky needing another booster. One of the owners of Paw Basics recommended Dr. Bammel. I am so incredibly happy to find a vet clinic that offers a more natural approach to canine wellness. Also happy to find a clinic where everyone is very nice. Dr. Bammel did a titer test for DHP and suggested they start Corky on some meds before giving the rabies booster. It was well worth the 30 minute (one way) drive over there for the peace of mind. The real test will come when we take Astro, our Doberman, over there. ;) I am looking forward to getting some advice on possible chiropractic adjustments for him. Read Less

Aaaaaaamazing!! 5 stars from the time I called to make Charlies appt to the moment I walked out. Never have I ever been to a vets office where they were so personal and caring. I have been to others offices where we were just made to feel like we were in an assembly line. Not here. Not even close. You can tell these folks love their jobs and patients. You walk in and the office is completely spotless & smells amazing, not like a medical office at all let alone a veterinary clinic. The front office staff was friendly and inviting and interested in meeting our pets. Medical staff was patient and kind with our dogs and Dr. Sovereign even showed our young son how to use her stethoscope and practiced on the dogs with it too. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Where do I begin? I'll start small. The staff is very knowledgeable, warm, and kind-hearted, and the atmosphere of the building is cozy. During my visit, before we even left the lobby to go to the back for exam, I was given an invoice of scheduled services upfront so that if I wanted to refuse or hold off on any of the services, I could. I was very impressed with this, what was clearly the protocol at Westridge. It's not only professional but incredibly considerate. You won't find any surprise fees here. I saw Dr. Sovereign and I can not say enough good about this woman. I came to this place to explore their "fear free vet visit" services, as I have a very fearful dog whose fear sometimes manifests as aggression. My expectations were exceeded. Not only is the staff knowledgeable about proper body language and conditioning to use around a fearful dog, they also hold a philosophy that gives fearful dogs what they so desperately need. Time. They are willing a prepared to go at the dog's pace. I was not only able, but encouraged, to let my dog take the time she needed to be comfortable. My appointment for vaccines took an hour and a half (much longer than standard, I'm sure - remember, my dog is very very fearful), and I never once felt like a burden. In fact THEY apologized to ME that it was taking so long, when I couldn't have thanked them enough for doing everything in their power to make my dog as comfortable as is possible for her. If it weren't for the fact that I needed the vaccines that day, they were prepared to let me come back on another day if that's what Arden needed. They encouraged me to come back as often as I want for "social" visits (free of charge) to get Arden accustomed to the environment, and Dr. Sovereign herself will straight up sit with your dog and feed him/her treats in what I'm sure is limited downtime, even if you don't have an appointment scheduled. There's no rushing you or your dog and they are willing to work with you as often as you need so your dog's vet visits become a positive experience. I couldn't have asked for better service today, and I'll definitely be going back, for both "social" and veterinary visits. If your dog hates the vet, people like Dr. Sovereign and the rest of the staff are a massive blessing. Do yourself and your dog a favor and make Westridge your regular vet. (P.S. I live in Helotes and my drive time is at least 30 minutes, and 1604 is the worst, but THAT is how worth it it is to go to this Pet Hospital. It's unlike any other vet that I have ever been to.) Dr Bamel and the staff at Westridge have taken care of our Dog and our two Cats. They have done an outstanding job with our pets and some of their health issues have been out of the norm , requiring accurate diagnosis and treatment plans. My girls need to be seen because after the move to Texas because their allergies really kicked up. I researched local vets online prior to the move and had already liked their operation. When I was being introduced around the office and one of my new co-workers found out I had dogs, Westridge was immediately recommended. The entire staff was friendly and the doctor really wanted to make sure we treated the real cause of their issues and best of all they weren't just pushing pharmaceuticals. I have been taking my Roxy here for diagnosis and treatment after being told she needed surgery asap and possible amputation of toes at another place. Dr. Bammel has taken her time and really looked into what is causing my Roxy so much pain and discomfort. I love this place. It takes me 40 minutes to drive here. But honestly I'll drive an hour to go to this vet. The quality of service exceeds any expectations. I also love that they have a holistic approach and aren't so quick to just shove drugs in your face. The communication between client and vet is superb as well. When the vet sees your pet, they aren't immediately handsy, they will actually talk to your pet and form a relationship with your pet in an attempt to help them feel more relaxed. My parents have been bringing their two dogs here for years! We absolutely love this facility and their ability to satisfy the needs of their customers. We had our old dog put down here 3 years ago and weren't able to come see her till about 15 minutes until they closed and they let us stay until we were ready to leave and then sent a card with her remains with their condolences. Loved Dr.Tewell and staff - they're second-to-none! They really took the time to examine and discuss treatment options and went above and beyond my expectations. Very professional and compassionate staff! Highly recommend! Updated 9/28: I was again AMAZED by the compassion of the staff at Westridge! They have been caring for my dogs since I moved back to San Antonio six months ago and I couldn't be happier! Recently, my younger dog had a emergency vet visit at a different clinic that I suspect the staff used rough, aggressive restraint techniques (I could even hear them yelling at him) and now, unfortunately, my happy-go-lucky dog now has full on panic attacks at the vet. I have background in animal behavior training and I was totally shocked when Dr.Sovereign asked if she could try the Dr. Yin positive-reinforcement approach they had been studying and take longer for the appointment, give him treats, and make it a positive experience. That's EXACTLY what he needed; she and her techs even took him back to the exam room and gave him treats for doing tricks! By the end of the visit, he was much more relaxed and they were able to give him his vaccinations without any problems. I travel a lot because of work and had a regular pet-hotel in San Antonio I used to board my dog, but I recently had to make a last minute business trip on a weekend and they didn't have any spaces. My sister takes her dogs to Dr. Bammel and she recommended I call. They had space for him and when I came to pick him up all the staff knew his name and he didn't come back with any health issues (diarrhea) like I knew to expect when I would take him to the regular spot.
