Evidently their stated policy is not their policy in practice, as I was told they have no emergency openings (for at least a week) and then was told that my cat definitely needs to be seen immediately... and they also have no openings to make any appointments at all for at least 2 weeks. How, exactly, does this reflect that emergency cases receives any priority except a zero? Read Less

When our house burned and we had no where to go, we took our Doberman, St Bernard and cat to Forest Lake (obviously without an appointment) and they were immediately taken in, bathed to get the ash and soot off, and boarded until we could find a place to live. Throughout the last 15 years we've taken our pets to Forest Lake and we have always received the most professional and caring service. We will continue to use this animal clinic and highly recommend them to anyone searching for a veterinarian to trust. Read Less

DO NOT RECOMMEND. I walked in this animal clinic as it was the closet to my house- in an extreme EMERGENCY- my puppy had a fishing lure stuck through his MOUTH. I was refused help at the front, and told they do not take walk in's. In addition to no sympathy, concern, or help for my animal. My dog was bleeding and there was not one other car in the parking lot, but they were apparently too busy. We have been taking our cats to Forest Lake Animal Clinic for almost 20 years (not the same cats anymore...). We could not ask for better care. We refer to Dr. Roof as "the cat whisperer" ever since he got up on the exam table and held our scaredy cat and stroked her until she was so bliss-ed out she didn't even notice the blood sample he took from her neck. Dr.s Roof and Dokos have treated a variety of ailments, both trivial and serious; treating everything successfully except old age. They never tried to sell us extra things the cats didn't need at annual exams. All of the staff at Forest Lake are compassionate, capable, wonderful people. My brother and my co-worker could write this same review with respect to their dogs, so don't think this is just a cat place. Read Less

This vet clinic treated two of my dogs and both times performed unnecessary surgery. Both times. $600 for biopsy of a growth and then a referral to a specialist who did larger excision. Why not just refer me directly? The worst was my boxer. $500 to excise small growth- huge incision- 6 " long for 1/4 " growth. To remove stitches, dog has to be left all day while dog cried, chewed his paw raw and rubbed sores on his face in anxiety. They work on him, when they can. Welfare of the dog is LOWEST priority. Then all the wound opened up- 7 " by 5 at 9 pm! It was horrific. The dog was in agony all night. Gee, they didn't charge us for second surgery to apply 12 staples to close wounds. If you want to seriously overpay and cause much unnecessary  suffering, chose Forest Lake. Awful. I'm considering suing. So furious. Read Less

Hi dogs, This is Kotch the Chesapeake. I'm a dog just a lot like you more than you might think. I used to be buff; bullet proof with a capital B&P. I never did need no vets. Still I'd hide under my master's chair if I had to go to one to get my Heartgard pills. But not too long ago I got old. It got to where I could barely get up to go outside. I felt so bad it wasn't worth eatin' anything unless it was at least a sliced turkey sandwich. Then my master started makin' me swallow a bunch of mush pumped into my mouth with a turkey baster. Yuk! Finally he got smart enough to take me to see Dr. Dokos at Forest Lake Animal clinic. She checked me out with a few pokes and stabs. Sent me off with some pills. After a while my dog food even tasted OK if I was hungry. Then I went back to see her again and went to sleep on her table. When I woke up, that lump on my stomach was gone. After a few days at home, I remembered how much fun it is to play who's in charge of the tennis ball again. Hope I never have to go to another vet. But if I do, I hope they are like Dr. Dokos at Forest Lake. - Kotch Read Less

This was my regular vet. One time I boarded my cats there, and since their shots were coming up, asked if they'd go ahead and do the annual exam and give them their shots. Upon my return, they charged $50 for each cat exam ($100 total) and told me they weren't due for shots until next week. So the next week I bring them in for shots, and was charged for TWO MORE exams + shots!!!! Because, Dr. Roof ""just wouldn't give a shot without examining the pet"". Then you shouldn't have examined two perfectly fine cats!!!! Or at least given them shots the previous week!!! Read Less
