I moved here (Spring Branch) about 1 year ago - early retirement. I took my kitties to this place (Spring Branch Vet Hosp) and was serviced by Dr. Hughes. She has treated me and my babies with, imho, super love and compassion. Even when I had to make the decision to put my 19 year old baby down, due to renal failure, she and the staff were so supportive I still tear (pronounced 'teer' not 'tare') up. Dr. Hughes and the entire staff really rock. And I have only written a review praising animal care people one other time in my 60 years of cat & dog ownership... that being Dr. Roe in San Antonio - and I don't even know if he is still alive. We have taken our three Westies to this vet clinic for over 10 years. Always had a good experience with Dr. Robert Duncan. We used all their services, boarding, grooming and vet services. There is no telling how much money we’ve have spent at this clinic. Recently requested an appointment to have a growth removed from my dogs ear. Dr. Megan Hughes looked at it earlier in the year when it was a very small little bump. It started growing really fast and I wanted to get it removed. I called to make an appointment to have it removed. It’s not huge, but needs to come off. So I brought my dog in, waited in the waiting room for 10-15 minutes and then in a hot exam room for 20-30 minutes until Dr. Hughes finally came in to examine my dog. We looked at the spot and she immediately looks at her teeth. She says well, she has some tartar on her teeth and we could take it off when we clean her teeth. I told her I just want the little wart/mole removed. That’s what I’m here for...She replies, “Oh, we only do surgeries on Tuesday.” “You’ll have to schedule it and bring her back. “. Wasted trip and Dr Hughes charged me $60 + to deliver that bad news. When I complained about being charged for nothing she “severed” our relationship; although, it was severed in my mind WAY before that...She’s not a good vet. She is definitely more concerned about lining her pockets than the health and well being of the animals. I wouldn’t trust her with any of my animals ever again. Dr. Hughes had a chance to do the right thing but the money was more important to her. Read Less

Have been taking my dog here for numerous years, and will continue to do so with any new additions that may be adopted/rescued. All the staff has a genuine affection with all the pets brought in. Mine is a little high maintenance, and they have always been very attentive to his needs, and making time to squeeze him in when the times have arisen. There has Always been follow up calls within a couple of days too. Haven't had that kind of service in years! Absolutely recommend them for any of your pets! Read Less

We just left and we had such a great experience at Spring Branch Veterinary Hospital that we felt compelled to let everyone know how great they are! We brought our dog Bernie there this morning for a rash that he has and they were just wonderful from start to finish! Front desk staff, vet tech, and Dr. Baas were all so friendly. I also really felt like they genuinely cared about helping Bernie. Cost was reasonable. We were in and out quickly. We're just so impressed! Thanks so much for all the kindness and caring! EXCELLENT CARE, KINDNESS, and LOVE at SBVH! We brought our Labradoodle Gwen into the Hospital for a Mastitis. The Hospital took us in very quickly and as soon as we walked I immediately felt wonderful about the atmosphere and the positivity of the loving staff. Dr. Baas was SO excellent and the love and care she showed to Gwen was so comforting. She was thorough and precise and answered any questions that we had. We moved to the Spring Branch/Canyon Lake area in April and are so fortunate to have found Spring Branch Veterinary Hospital. The doctor and staff have been very attentive with me and with my sweet dog, Maggie. Maggie has been very sick over the last few months. Dr. Baas has gone out of her way many times to consult with other doctors, call me and ask how Maggie is doing and recommend ways to help her feel better. Last week, we almost lost her. I pulled into the vet with Maggie in my back seat in shock. A technician came running out to the car and immediately knew what to do. Extremely professional, friendly and clean veterinary practice. Dr.s Hughes and Baas are capable, gentle and meticulous in diagnosing and treating my animals. They genuinely care for each animal and have the pet's best interest in the forefront of the decisions they make. The treatment rooms and kennels are IMMACULATE and organized. The staff of office personnel and vet technicians are always pleasant and helpful. The veterinary practice is also very community oriented and supportive of shelter's in the area. Dr.s Hughes and Baas also were generous with their time and skills helping with rescue animals displaced by the devastation of Hurricane Harvey. They had been seeing our dog since he was six weeks old, and we have never taken him anywhere else. Today we had an emergency appointment with them for an ear infection that they have been treating him for. We were six minutes late to the appointment and they turned us away and advised us that they would not see our dog because they were too busy and we were too late. I explained to the tech that our water heater had gone out this morning and that I was six minutes late due t...o the fact I was dealing with the plumber. She shrugged her shoulders and informed me that I would have to come back at a later time. My question is, where is the empathy for the sick dog? And if they are scheduled that closely where they don't have a six minute margin of error should they have even scheduled me? Needless to say I will never be back and I think its a shame that these people would turn away a sick dog who had been up crying and scratching all night due to the infection they had been previously treating. I'm surprised there is not more reviews for this hospital.We moved here a year ago with our dog and cat and have since added another dog . They have all been seen by the dr's here. It's a small practice with a great dynamic. Great front staff and technicians. Great communication between everyone and great service. I worked at a veterinary clinic for 8 years and this is the exact type of practice I was looking for when I moved here. They also do boarding and grooming , both of which I have used with confidence. Prices are fair and I was always involved with my pets options for treatment. I am so happy that I found this place to bring my furry family! Read Less

On New Years Eve, my cat ALMOST had to go to the NB ER, then I met Lani. They could not take him but she stayed on the phone and found a vet that could. That's called going OVER AND ABOVE. My cat is fine, and Lani has called to check on him several times. So I took my boxer in and and I have never been to such a caring place. ALL the staff were awesome, and my boxer has a new vet now. Looooove this vet clinic! We used to take all our babies to VCA since the day my husband and I became pet parents, and although they're extremely expensive we figured that the "don't care about you or your pet" attitude was apart of the service. Once we moved to the hill country we fell in love with their little doggy mailbox, so we stopped by for a visit and prices and they blew us away! We were literally paying double at VCA for nothing! We love how welcoming the receptionist are and how helpful the Dr is! Our kitty broke his femur over the holidays and we went over all his options with Dr. Duncan, we had to see a specialist, who quite frankly was waaaay out of our price range. Dr. Duncan personally went out of her way to call around and find someone who would be able to help repair our kitty within our price range. They even called twice that week to check up on him. They're truly kind here and care about your fur-babies, we're extremely grateful to have found them! Read Less

We brought our 2 new Golden babies in based on the recommendation of our breeder but I was "sold" the first time I contacted them for an appointment and spoke with the front office staff (Lainey). She was friendly, bubbly and seemed genuinely excited on having my new babies come in for their 2mo check up & shots. Everyone from the front office, techs & the vets have been awesome to work with. We have been using this clinic since it opened (left for a short while due to my daughter working at another clinic). For a customer to stay with them for so long (about 20 years), you know they are doing something right. Currently, they take care of our 3 dogs and 2 cats. Over the years, they also took care of 4 other dogs and cat.To let you know what kind of heart these folks have had over the years, I have to list 2 examples. My favorite dog, Jake - a half Chow half Golden Retriever, got to the point that he could not get up due to his hips. They worked and worked with us and Jake, even going to the point of creating a set of "training wheels" for his backside so that he could get around. When Jake passed, they offered to bury him on their ranch. The other example is of our cat Dewey. Unfortunately, he came down with cancer in his kidneys and liver. There was nothing that could be done for him, so that talked to us about our options. If we were willing to do it, they would furnish us with needles and saline solutions so that we could infuse him every 2 or 3 days to help make up for his kidney issues. We were able to take care of him for about 6 months until he passed in his sleep.This clinic has been through several owners over the years, and we have liked them all. It recently was taken over by Dr. Hughes, and we were lucky enough to meet her at the event last weekend. I think we are going to like her a lot. It appears that the staff is going to remain the same. That is great as we like all of them also.We are so lucky to have these folks so close. So why not a 5 star? They are not open on the weekend (neither day), so if you are boarding a pet, you can't pick them up until Monday. Read Less

The staff is very friendly and helpful. I've been in for 4 appointments total for my animals, and each time I've had to wait quite a while to see the vet. I've waited for up to an hour and for no less than 25 minutes. Your animal will definitely be taken care of, but you may have to wait a good while to be seen. They are usually able to get your pet in the same day if need be, which is a plus. Read Less

We are new to spring branch. My dog recently had puppies and the entire process has been new to us. We brought our beautiful 12 week old puppies for their very first shots and the staff went above and beyond. Everyone was so very friendly and welcoming. It really made this process so easy for us. What I loved most about my experience was how the staff went above and beyond. They didn't just give the puppies shots and send us on our way.
