These people may be ok for "routine" shots and etc but they are not very good at diagnostics. I took my female rotty in for an exam because she wasn't eating and bleeding slighty out of her bottom. I told the clinic I had given her some ibuprofen (600 mg) to relieve some back/hind leg pain that she was experiencing. Bear in mind I'd just recently taken her in for "that" problem. They said I should not have done that but with her size ( 100 lbs) they didn't believe that small amount would affect her too much. She had a slight fever so they said they wanted to do blood work to assess the dog. I consented. They said the blood work was ok but the dog had some internal bleeding and was dehydrated, thus the fever. They recommended that I send the dog to a "specialty" hospital for IVs and overnite stay (to hydrate) because they didn't provide that service. I indicated I didn't know of such a place. The doctor said she knew of a place. She left the room for a bit and then returned to tell me that the overnite rate would be $1500-$2000 per nite. I declined so then the doctor said she could provide some fluids under the skin (subcutaneous) to help with the hydration. Meanwhile the dog is still releasing blood from her rectum on the clinic floor while we are talking about hydration. Finally after all is said and done they give me a bill that included $400 of medication and $250 worth of services. Its now about 4:40 pm on Tuesday. I take the dog home, give her the first dose of meds as recommended. The dog continues to release blood from the rectum. About midnite, the dog is panting profusely so I give it ice chips and cool water by syringe. Three hours later the dog is dead and I'm pissed. All that for nothing. Now I have $400 worth of meds and a dead dog. As far as I'm concerned if the dog was in that situation, they should have known and put the dog down. Instead they prescribed all this medication (at a higher cost than putting the dog down) knowing full well that the dog was in severe stress. That to me is looking out for their own interest and not the interest of the customer or the pet. Fyi, I had decided as I drove away from that place that I wasn't coming back because they were just "pill pushers" and I did not like that all. Obviously it must have been internal bleeding and other organ related issues that killed the dog and not dehydration. That bleeding must have been more advanced than they told me (and I think they knew). As I said, these people may be ok for "routine" shots and etc but they are horrible at diagnostics. Just disgusted with that place. Read Less

Have to give 1 star in order to make a comment but not deserving of that. Been there 3 times and seen 3 different vets. You're probably okay if you need only preventative shots and treatment. The front staff is very helpful and nice. But if you are ever going to need anything other than routine I would go elsewhere and here's why:The last time I visited this "hospital" was due to my very small dog (puppy) being attacked by a large dog. The vet did NOT do a thorough exam and missed that my dog had a broken leg. Not kidding, missed a completely broken leg, not just fractured, completely broken. They gave me 2 estimates for care, one with and the other without x-rays. The doctor said we probably didn't need an x-ray since we brought our 5 month old puppy right after it happened. She mentioned something about air pockets. They also did NOT send us home with any pain meds, as the vet tech said our puppy seemed "to be a bit of a baby". Tried to call after normal business hours as our puppy continued to be in pain and would not put weight on his rear leg. They apparently do NOT have even an after hours answering service!! How's that for not caring about your patients but only when it's convenient!!! The phone just rang and rang and rang.Ended up at a great, but very expensive, Animal Hospital (Blue Pearl) to discover my "bit of a baby" in fact had a broken leg. They were very surprised no pain meds had been prescribed for at least his bites as they alone are very painful. They diagnosed a broken leg in the initial exam and affirmed with x-rays! This is how it should have been handled in the first place instead of here's what we can do and here's how much it will cost, and oh by the way you probably don't need x-rays. Read Less

O NOT LET THE FACT THAT THEY ARE IN A SHOPPING CENTER FOOL YOU--THEY ARE GREAT!I live in Los Angeles and when I visit Texas for several weeks and my dogs need any sort of attention I ONLY TAKE THEM HERE. They are absolutely the best. Dr. David Dolan is AWESOME....really awesome. I took one of my dogs in who had a small lump/growth and instead of jumping to surgery right away he took some fluid and told me to keep monitoring it. THE VERY NEXT DAY THEY CALLED to check up on my dog. They are very caring. He has also seen my other dogs and I'm always so happy to hand them over to such a caring person. My mother had a bad experience with another Vet in the Spring area (BluePearl pet hospital formerly North Houston Veterinary Specialists). Her older pit bull started having a seizure but she didn't know that's what it was. It was early in the morning so she rushed him to BluePearl and they were awful. First of all, they didn't want to handle him because he was a pit even though he was wearing a muzzle. They said they were afraid of him. Then they told my mother that things were very serious and that most likely he had fluid in his lungs and started telling her it would be hundreds and hundreds of dollars. It was ABSOLUTELY AWFUL. She remembered how much I loved Companion Animal Hospital so she left BluePearl and drove over to Companion. As soon as she arrived she was told that they weren't open yet but that she could wait in the lobby since the doctor would be arriving soon. The nurses helped her in the meantime. When Dr. Dolan arrived he didn't see the people with appointments but instead tended to my mom's dog since it appeared serious. Not only did Dr. Dolan handle the pit with no problem but so did the nurses--WITH NO MUZZLE! After examining the dog he immediately told my mom it was only a seizure and that there wasn't anything wrong with him. He only charged for the office visit and told my mom to let him know if he had another seizure. That evening they called to check on her and her dog. Then they called the next morning as well. When he had another seizure they immediately gave my mom the medication he needed and they have continued to call EVERY DAY for 3 days to make sure he's doing well. MY MOM IS OVER THE MOON for this place. Dr. Dolan is the very best!!!! Read Less

Hugo and Hagen have been clients of Companion Animal Hospital for almost 2 years now, and they (my beloved Dogs) and I their owner, are quite pleased with this facility for numerous reasons. 1.) Exceptionally clean facility from entering, the exam rooms, restroom, kennels, etc (Above Standard). 2. The staff - i.e front office - the ladies in the front office are kind/considerate and knowledgeable. If, for some reason, an answer is not readily avaiable, they seek someone else to help. 3.) Doctor Dolan is a excellent Veternarian, period. He dosen't ""candy coat"" things, if you will, he is direct and to the point, within a compassionate tone and manner. My dogs are very dear to me and I feel SAFE with the level of care recieved here. I can not imagine these other posts providing negative remarks to be the least bit true and I am disturbed to read them. I recently moved and I will continue to make the drive to Dr. Dolan's office and support them fully as a truly caring group of individuals with vast expertise in the field. Respectfully- Lori M. The vets in there are nice enough but the office staff leaves much to be desired. I was in the waiting room when one of the office staff (Deborah, I think) refused service to a young woman and her very sick puppy because of a payment issue. From what I overheard the payment had been made, just not in a timely manner. The office manager actually spoke very sternly (and quite loudly) to the young lady as she was crying and pleading for her dog to be seen. It was a very sad experience for me to watch and I'm not going to support an establishment with such a disregard for compassion. I wouldn't take my child to a doctors office that would do that and I'm sure not going to take my pets to one either. Read Less

Read Less

Today I brought my puppy in to get fixed and it broke my heart leaving her because she didn't want to leave my side. The vet just texted me and sent me a picture of my baby girl and said she is doing fine after the surgery. I couldn't be more pleased with the way they run this place. Thank you so much for taking good care of my Dallas Mai! I have been to several places with my family for their dogs and cats and I've never had such a great experience. Read Less

I have been a regular client of Companion for over 10 years now. Dr. Dolan and his staff are caring, considerate, personable and professional. The waiting room/office area and exam rooms are always tidy and welcoming and Companion's rates are more than fair for the superior service rendered. Over the past decade, I've entrusted the care of 5 dogs and 2 cats to Companion without reservation and it is their continued commitment to excellence and attention to detail in the medical care of my pets that has kept me loyal all these years. Companion Animal Hospital is truly and 5-star clinic with amazing staff and I highly recommend their veterinary services.

I love this place. There is no other Vet clinic that has truly showed love and compassion for my pet. Every Vet that i have ever walked in has very serious attitudes and no smiles. The staff and Doctors here made me feel welcome as well as the kitty. They joked with me and made me feel that my dogs injury would be okay. My dog was calm with the doctor and i was too!! They referred my dog to an eye specialist and the doctor personally called me later that evening to see how my dog was doing. Then they sent me a thank you letter and get well card for my dog that all of the staff signed as well. I will go here from now on. Read Less

If there was a no star rating, it would be here. I went in today for a sick puppy I rescued at the pound and was verbal assaulted by the office manager. It seems I'm late in a payment, which actually has been sent but not received and I was berated, threatened and actually yelled at to such an extreme a women in the waiting room tried to intercede on my behalf. I was reduced to tears in the waiting room. I am so shocked at this behavior and will of course never return to this establishment. Read Less

Read Less
