First of all, all I need to say about this place is that even though I've moved across town (West Houston), I still make arrangements to bring my Buster Boo Boo back to his doggie doc. Lots of posh vet clinics in the memorial and downtown area (where I permanently live and temporary displaced to), yet I feel most secured with his original vet. That should pretty much describe how we feel about the care they provide.

Dr. Ellerman is very experienced and extremely kind. I brought in a kitten I rescued during hurricane Harvey (who I named Harvey of course😉). The little guy had it all and the doctor was so thorough and gentle. He predicted that Harvey might come down with a respiratory infection and sure enough he did. This veterinary clinic has that home-like personal feel that I so desperately miss now and days❤.

My wife and I have always taken our pets to Stafford Vet. Doctor Ellerman is friendly, conscientious and loves each and every animal under his care. Allison and Katrina (Doc's Assistant and Receptionist, respectively) are friendly and professional, but, like Doc, they won't hesitate to tell you the truth if they think you have the wrong idea. Prices are reasonable, as are the hours (closed Thursday and Sunday, but open Saturday morning).If you love your pet and live in the Stafford-Missouri City area, this is where you should bring him.

I boarded my dog at SVC. I was so pleased when I picked her up after a week, she was ready to come home of course but she was so happy. Allison took such good care of her. When I went in a week later to get some heartworm medicine Allison came out of the back office and my dog Crystal got so excited to see her, that's when I knew how well taken car of she was.
Everyone is friendly and so helpful.

Stafford Veterinary Clinic services for cats and dogs have always been friendly, competent, and readily available on weekdays without excessive waiting,
As a previous reviewer noted, Dr. Ellerman enjoys and shares the science related to our pets' needs. He patiently pursued and ultimately cured what was probably a Chlamydia psittaci infection in our cat. He provided the information we need to recognize when our bitch will be in heat so we can confine her as needed, though he would prefer to spay her.
But he has avoided ordering needlessly expensive treatments. For example, a dehydrated cat can be given an I.V. like a human, but simply injecting fluid into the thick fascia layer under the cat's skin has worked just as well and cost much less.
In contrast, a nearby animal emergency clinic ordered extensive and expensive treatments for our sick cat, and only when I refused most of it did they offer the simple injection noted above. (They did forward appropriate notes to Dr. Ellerman.) So if in doubt on a Wednesday or a Saturday morning, come in rather than face the more costly alternative when Stafford Veterinary Clinic is closed the following day.

He is someone who will tell you the absolute truth, his opinions on the pet's problem, the research done on the issue, then let you make your decision about your pet's particular case. I trust him 100% and I appreciate the fact that he doesn't view my many questions as a pain or as if I'm trying to give him a hard time. Our old vet treated my questions as if I were challenging his experience or intellect. Dr. Ellermann is not arrogant like that - he truly loves to converse about science and veterinary medicine. His assistants are super as well. We always have a nice chat and I welcome their suggestions.

I take both of my dogs to Dr. Ellerman. In fact, three generations of my family have been patrons of Stafford Veterinary Clinic! Dr. Ellerman is great. One of my dogs is 16 years old and has congestive heart failure. The doctor does not candy coat bad news. Her days are numbered and I need to prepare myself. As a last ditch effort, I took my dog to a cardiologist. She got some additional treatment that Dr. Ellerman was not comfortable providing. I think his feelings were a bit hurt, but my dog is doing well 6 months later. Now that her improvement is obvious, Dr. Ellerman is very impressed and seems to have learned some things from what the cardiologist did as well! In general, he provides excellent basic care. He is a good general practitioner, you might say. But sometimes you need a specialist.As for the comment below about the receptionist, I have to admit that I have had similar experiences. A few times I was ready to stop going to this clinic because of it. But I have managed to forge a good relationship with her, and things are better now. I would not be surprised if others still get her unfriendly demeanor from time to time. I think she does her job well otherwise. I decided to take it with a grain of salt because I didn't want to stop taking my dogs to Dr. Ellerman.

I would highly recommend this doctor!I would have given more stars, but the receptionist is rude and judgmental. When I called in, I explained that for the past few hours, my dog had a pink eye which recently became exacerbated to the point that he struggled to open his eye. She responded condescendingly, "you waited THIS long?"Oh and you should probably know they're not open on Thursdays, since if you ask to make an appointment on this day, the receptionist will manage to make you feel terrible about yourself.

Dr Ellermann has been our vet for over 20 years. He's seen our many dogs and cats and has always treated them with expertise and compassion. We've had several tough decisions to make over the years and he's always given us the guidance to make the right one. Between his knowledge and his experience, he's the perfect vet for us. He's this wonderful cross between scientist and animal lover. His staff are the most helpful and wonderful folks, too. Dr. Ellermann came highly recommended to me by a co-worker who has been taking her cats there for many years. We were very impressed by his service and friendliness and will definitely be seeing him again for our dogs. We had multiple concerns about an older dog of ours and a new, young dog we just obtained from CAP; all of questions/concerns were answered completely and we feel very confident in their abilities. Our older dog even let them handle him; and he usually has to be muzzled for his examination! Great place...highly recommend to anyone who is looking for that down-home vet feeling in the big city.

The thing I like most about Dr. Ellerman is that he doesn't pretend to know everything - it he's going by his gut and experience, he'll say so. Sometimes medicine is just like that, so you have to choose a vet who has seen a lot and can go by what he just feels is the best course of action. He's got a great reservoir of facts, reads the latest research, and has been a vet for so long, I trust his judgment 100%.

Stafford Veterinary Clinic is the next best place to being home for my pets. Dr. Ellerman and his staff are professional and friendly. They have taken care of all my dogs and cats for the last 26 years. It is the only place I will take my pet family members for care. All staff are well informed and have provided excellent care for my pets. Their knowledge in the area of veterinary medicine is extensive. They provide a safe and loving atmosphere with their boarding facilities. My dog looks forward to staying there when I am away from home. She has her favorite kennel and the staff makes sure it is ready for her when she arrives. No wonder, we all think of Stafford Veterinary Clinic as ""Your pet's second home.""

I boarded my dog at SVC. I was so pleased when I picked her up after a week, she was ready to come home of course but she was so happy. Allison took such good care of her. When I went in a week later to get some heartworm medicine Allison came out of the back office and my dog Crystal got so excited to see her, that's when I knew how well taken car of she was.
Everyone is friendly and so helpful.

Stafford Veterinary Clinic services for cats and dogs have always been friendly, competent, and readily available on weekdays without excessive waiting,
As a previous reviewer noted, Dr. Ellerman enjoys and shares the science related to our pets' needs. He patiently pursued and ultimately cured what was probably a Chlamydia psittaci infection in our cat. He provided the information we need to recognize when our bitch will be in heat so we can confine her as needed, though he would prefer to spay her.
But he has avoided ordering needlessly expensive treatments. For example, a dehydrated cat can be given an I.V. like a human, but simply injecting fluid into the thick fascia layer under the cat's skin has worked just as well and cost much less.
In contrast, a nearby animal emergency clinic ordered extensive and expensive treatments for our sick cat, and only when I refused most of it did they offer the simple injection noted above. (They did forward appropriate notes to Dr. Ellerman.) So if in doubt on a Wednesday or a Saturday morning, come in rather than face the more costly alternative when Stafford Veterinary Clinic is closed the following day.

He is someone who will tell you the absolute truth, his opinions on the pet's problem, the research done on the issue, then let you make your decision about your pet's particular case. I trust him 100% and I appreciate the fact that he doesn't view my many questions as a pain or as if I'm trying to give him a hard time. Our old vet treated my questions as if I were challenging his experience or intellect. Dr. Ellermann is not arrogant like that - he truly loves to converse about science and veterinary medicine. His assistants are super as well. We always have a nice chat and I welcome their suggestions.

I take both of my dogs to Dr. Ellerman. In fact, three generations of my family have been patrons of Stafford Veterinary Clinic! Dr. Ellerman is great. One of my dogs is 16 years old and has congestive heart failure. The doctor does not candy coat bad news. Her days are numbered and I need to prepare myself. As a last ditch effort, I took my dog to a cardiologist. She got some additional treatment that Dr. Ellerman was not comfortable providing. I think his feelings were a bit hurt, but my dog is doing well 6 months later. Now that her improvement is obvious, Dr. Ellerman is very impressed and seems to have learned some things from what the cardiologist did as well! In general, he provides excellent basic care. He is a good general practitioner, you might say. But sometimes you need a specialist.As for the comment below about the receptionist, I have to admit that I have had similar experiences. A few times I was ready to stop going to this clinic because of it. But I have managed to forge a good relationship with her, and things are better now. I would not be surprised if others still get her unfriendly demeanor from time to time. I think she does her job well otherwise. I decided to take it with a grain of salt because I didn't want to stop taking my dogs to Dr. Ellerman.

I would highly recommend this doctor!I would have given more stars, but the receptionist is rude and judgmental. When I called in, I explained that for the past few hours, my dog had a pink eye which recently became exacerbated to the point that he struggled to open his eye. She responded condescendingly, "you waited THIS long?"Oh and you should probably know they're not open on Thursdays, since if you ask to make an appointment on this day, the receptionist will manage to make you feel terrible about yourself.

We've had several tough decisions to make over the years and he's always given us the guidance to make the right one. Between his knowledge and his experience, he's the perfect vet for us. He's this wonderful cross between scientist and animal lover. His staff are the most helpful and wonderful folks, too. Dr. Ellermann came highly recommended to me by a co-worker who has been taking her cats there for many years. We were very impressed by his service and friendliness and will definitely be seeing him again for our dogs. We had multiple concerns about an older dog of ours and a new, young dog we just obtained from CAP; all of questions/concerns were answered completely and we feel very confident in their abilities. Our older dog even let them handle him; and he usually has to be muzzled for his examination! Great place...highly recommend to anyone who is looking for that down-home vet feeling in the big city.

Stafford Veterinary Clinic is the next best place to being home for my pets. Dr. Ellerman and his staff are professional and friendly. They have taken care of all my dogs and cats for the last 26 years. It is the only place I will take my pet family members for care. All staff are well informed and have provided excellent care for my pets. Their knowledge in the area of veterinary medicine is extensive. They provide a safe and loving atmosphere with their boarding facilities. My dog looks forward to staying there when I am away from home. She has her favorite kennel and the staff makes sure it is ready for her when she arrives. No wonder, we all think of Stafford Veterinary Clinic as ""Your pet's second home.""
