Prospective customers should know that this clinic is no longer operated by Vet (Dr. Donald L Ross) that prompted so many positive Yelp reviews in the past.PLEASE BE AWARE THAT MOST OF THE POSITIVE REVIEWS FOR THIS CLINIC ARE FOR THE PREVIOUS OWNER! EVEN THE PHOTOS ARE NOT CURRENT! I am a longtime customer at this business. For years I took my dogs to Dr. Ross, an experienced Ex- Airforce DVM who received Dental credentials from UT Houston Dental School. My little guys received state-of-the-art care at reasonable rates....That was in the past. Dr. Ross is no longer at this clinic. He has retired after many years of wonderful practice. Best of Luck to him!Now the clinic is operated by a DVM who on the clinic website, claims that he spent "...several years obtaining advanced training in veterinary dentistry..." though he provides no details. He also cites membership in the "American Veterinary Dental Society (AVDS)". an organization you or I can join, provided we pay the annual dues.I called to make an appointment today, and was informed that pricing had changed....Boy did they ever! They now have a rate scale of 1 to 4, where 1 (routine) starts at $800, and 4 (extraction etc) starts at $2000....Yes "starts" at $2000. An evaluation costs $90. So a prospective client is looking at North of $800 for a routine cleaning/scaling! The reason for increased costs I'm told, is that they now use more monitoring technology and perform more pre-surgery testing. In my opinion, needlessly piling on technology and testing adds little or no value to procedures that were, to my knowledge, NOT fraught with problems in the first place. Dog dentistry, performed by an expert, is pretty routine and uneventful. And was, at least until now, reasonably priced at this location. Perhaps this new owner is simply a disciple of PT Barnum. But the prices here are, in my opinion, over the top and unsustainable. My advice to pet owners is to do what I am doing: Be smart. Find a good, experienced, DVM who practices whole animal care, and let them care for your pet's teeth. Competition and common sense will make short work of this latest reincarnation of this business. Tough to imagine anyone with any sense of value doing business with this clinic. Especially since Houston has so many talented Vets willing to treat your dog's oral issues at more realistic prices.
