Dr. Closs, you killed my dog with your treatment plan for her CKD. You knew she had heart murmur, and you still prescribed too much fluids for her. You should know that heart disease and kidney disease are incompatible, but you never even mentioned that to me, and I only found out that I was drowning her heart when I rushed her to the emergency vet after a month of your SubQ recommendations.
After a month of doing your treatment plan, Dr. Closs, is when I found out heart disease and kidney disease are very hard to treat together. You could've at least told me to be careful about it.
When SL Specialist Vet Clinic suggested diagnostic testing, I consulted with Dr. Closs before going through.
You then called me "cruel" for wanting to undo the damage you've done to her and "selfish" for not putting her down.
No vet should ever gaslight their patient into doing something. As a first time dog owner, putting my baby down is such a hard decision. Fortunately for me, I was able to speak to a different clinic who gave me time, empathy, and space, not using emotional manipulation to pressure me.
The tragic irony is, you are the cruel and selfish one, Dr. Closs, for recommending a treatment plan that was slowly drowning her heart, ultimately causing her to go into heart failure.
Considering I have been a loyal client for so many years, Dr. Closs is extremely mean-spirited for calling me "cruel and selfish" for wanting to save my dog, a dog with a condition he didn't treat but worsened by his carelessness towards her heart murmur.
Dr. Closs is well aware of Mei Mei's heart murmur, but either out of ignorance or just plain carelessness, he told me to administer her that much fluids.
Dr. Closs is truly Dr. Cruel.
He just wants to sell you supplements. He really is not knowledgeable.
Because of his treatment plan, my dog's body was overdosed on fluids so much that her heart had enlarged to fill her entire chest cavity. It is Dr. Closs' recommendation that I do 200-300 ml SubQ a day that killed my dog.
Upon doing research, I found out that kidney and heart disease can be treated simultaneously when caught early and treated carefully. With heart murmur and CKD, as most 100-125 mL is recommended for 11 lbs. My dog was 8 lbs, so with her heart murmur, I should've given her at most 100 mL / day.
Dr. Closs was also very unknowledgeable about medications and supplements for CKD with Heart murmur. After I asked him questions about supplements, he completely ghosted me, most likely because he is so unknowledgeable.
I am now in deep pain, mourning my baby over Christmas. After being a patient with you for so many years, I feel extremely cheated and disappointed and hurt by your lack of attention.
I just think about what could've happened if I had gone to a more empathetic, caring, and knowledgeable vet. Perhaps I'd be spending Christmas with my Mei Mei.
Dr. Cruel killed my dog with his carelessness.

They will forget to charge you for something and then charge twice as much the next time throwing you off. And won't handle it in an honorable way. And these are the people who will be providing much of the care to your pet. Trust me, steer clear of this place.

She obviously wasn't taken out. Also she became crate aggressive from being borded there. She is crate trained, bit after being there she would bark and growl whenever anyone but me approached her crate... She had never done this before either. She no longer does this, but it took about three months for her to be comfortable in her crate again. She has been boarded at other places with no problems. Ok place to go for regular vaccination, but wouldn't take my dog there for anything else. she was boarded once before here without problem, so it could just be due to one staff member? When I first started going here all the staff was kind and I had no complaints. But I won't go there anymore with the current staff. Last visit was five months ago

We have been loyal clients of Dr.Closs at Grand Parkway Animal Clinic since the day that they opened. With all our rescues and medical fosters we spend ten thousands of Dollars there over the years - not anymore! We had appointments for 11 am for all 5 of our dogs today, which we confirmed yesterday, but when we arrived we were told "you are canceled" ? What? Who canceled? The extremely unfriendly receptionist told my husband he could wait, which he did, and then she proceeded to let all other later arrivals into one of the two rooms. When he asked what was going on she said "they had appointments" he said, "so did I, and I am waiting with 5 dogs since 30 minutes?" She told him he was free to leave if he did not like it. Well guess what, we are taking all our dogs and our business somewhere else.

Dr. Closs is the best. He took care of my Jax until he passed and now he takes care of Maximus and Matthias. He is wonderful and even took the time to spend thirty minutes on the phone with me when Jax was sick and he was too large to be moved (164 lb rottie). He sent home meds. Jax passed anyway, but Dr. Closs is the only veterinarian I would trust with my dogs. Period. Thank you Dr. Closs and all of the staff at Grande Parkway for all that you do! They even helped me get Jaxie into a stretcher when he had seizures and couldn't move at all. He is our vet for life!

I have been taking my pug and French bulldog to Grand Parkway Animal Hospital for the past 3 years. The staff is always friendly and they make my pets feel welcome. When the pug was 10 months old she ate a bunch of string and leaves and blocked her intestines. I was able to reach Dr. Closs very easily and set up an emergency visit. After initial diagnosis, the pug needed additional screenings, so I had to take her to another animal hospital for the ultrasound. In the end, Dr. Closs performed the surgery and saved my dog's life. The French bulldog once ate something that made her quite ill, so I needed to set up an appointment in Livingston, where I was visiting family. I called Grand Parkway Animal Hospital and they not only recommended a vet in the area, but also faxed over my dogs records, so they arrived in time for the visit. I board my dogs whenever I go on vacation with Grand Parkway Animal Hospital and I never worry about them because I know they are well taken care of.

This has become our go to pet doctor/boarding place. It's close to our home, the staff is friendly and they remember our dogs which is nice. Our dachshund had to have a vertebrae removed and bc of this hasn't been able to walk since until recently (partially). This means you have to relieve his bladder by hand. It's kind of tricky and he also randomly poops on the floor so I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving him with just anyone. GPAH knows him and his routine and always takes good care of him. I would highly recommend them to anyone living in the Sugar Land/Richmond area.

I had the WORST experience here. I brought in my puppy, clearly frantic and worried, because she had rolled around in a fire ant pile and was literally covered in fire ants. She had previously gotten bit by fire ants and we found out she was allergic to fire ant bites.I could still feel their stings as I carried her into the office. This was a Saturday at 12:30 PM, and most of the other vet offices were closed or about to be closed at 1 PM.I came here because it was the only one that was opened within that time frame (30 mins till 1 PM) , and was the closest to me. I calmly asked the secretary if I might see the vet because my dog was covered with fire ants, and she threw a glance at me and muttered, "Hold on" and turned back to her computer screen. She let me stayed there twiddling my thumbs for an additional TEN MINUTES before telling me, "The vet isn't here today." Seriously? You couldn't have told me that when I walked in or asked if I could see the vet?! You made me wait another 10 minutes and because of you, all the other veterinarian offices are now closed, and my dog can no longer get the help she needs that day at a reasonable price?! She didn't even apologize! I'm appalled at the secretary's attitude and would NOT recommend this place. I get it. It's a Saturday, and it's 30 minutes before closing, and you're anxious to leave. But this does NOT, in any way, excuse you from telling me that the vet isn't here when I first got in. You wasted MY time and my poor dog was suffering from fire ant bites, and possibly having an anaphylactic reaction. I ended up having to go to the emergency vet room for my dog, which resulted in some ridiculous costs, as expected, since all the vet offices were closed by the time I reach there, due to the hold-up I received at Grand Parkway.P.S.: Remember to read the filtered reviews for more reviews of this place. Yelp auto. filters them out if the person has written less than 3 reviews.

Grand Parkway Animal Hospital is one of the best vet clinics I have been to. Dr. Closs takes such good care of my animals. I love how he gives me options when it comes to treatment so I can figure out what works best for our wallet and the health of the animal. His staff is awesome and 85% of them have been there for years....that alone should tell you something. His is very fair when it comes to prices...especially if you compare it to all the other vet clinics around. Great animal hospital!

Good experiences. We use this vet clinic regularly, with all four of our cats. Dr. Closs has been kind and worked with us through our dog's cancer, even though she didn't make it. We recently had my kitten spayed there and the prices are reasonable and they were kind. Also, they notified me as soon as she was out of her surgery and let me know how it went and what time to pick her up. They are efficient, quick and kind. I highly recommend them.

This is where we take our yellow labs. The staff is very accomodating and the dogs are always quite happy when we pick them up. We've never had any problems. A year ago I had an incident with ticks at the Millie Bush bark park that infested my dogs terribly. Following the initial visit, the staff hand picked hundreds of ticks from my dogs and dipped them repeatedly without charge until they were clean. They are a little pricey, but again, great service and healthy animals...can't complain. We'll be back.

This place is also near my home. The staff was nice to me as were all the doctors. From the look and feel of the place it was clean and looked reputable. Was I so regretfully wrong. Basically the doctors prescribed my dog some medication for a small minor issue which started to cause other symptoms. The doctor brushed off these symptoms as normal with this medication. One day my dog got very very sick to the point I had to take him to the emergency room to find out the medication had severely messed up my dog from the inside out. The emergency vet near the gallaria told me that any vet should have immediately stopped the medication after we had reported the new minor symptoms days after starting his medication. This doctor let my dog take the medication for 2 months all the while reassuring us that the new minor symptoms were normal when the emergency room vet told me that they were actually slowly killing him. I am to the point where my dog may not make it out of this weekend and all I can think is that I tricked my dog into eating this medication which killed him. I hope no one ever has to experience this again. If anyone has medication from this vet please get a full report by another doctor and protect your dogs. To this day I still wish when my dog had his first minor allergic symptom I had visited the other vet on my list.

The attention to personal respect for your animal is in the utmost first concern of this clinic. I have been taking my animals across town to a long time family Veterinarian. I was recently introduced to Grand Parkway Animal Clinic, Dr. Closs and staff, who happens to be around the corner in the neighborhood and haven't been more pleased with the switch. I was recommended by a good friend who owns a Labrador Retriever and his dogs history is quite extensive with a medical issues. Upon that referral I have not been back to my long standing family vet in Southwest Houston since. Since knowing this vet I am exhausted with how much he continues his Veterinary Education with the State and numerous continuing education classes. Dr. Closs' knowledge and ability to keep my animals healthy with the concern of the economy and price will continue to refer him to more patients in the years to come.

This clinic was recommended by several friends, and they were right on. Great people and great service. The vet even went so far as to return my phone call at 7:30pm on a Friday night when I was having a problem with my puppies. I trust them enough to board my puppy there when I go out of town--and for a very reasonable price. I would definitely recommend this place!

I went to this vet two days after I bought my English Bulldog from a Dallas Breeder. He told me that he could not continue the series of shots (even though I had all the paperwork from the previous vet) because he was not present when the shots were perform, therefore, he cannot be sure if they were done properly. He told me to come back so we can start the series over.. Give me a break! My husband and I left that office and never looked back. We since then found a vet who completed the series of vaccinations, and now we have someone we can truly trust with our puppy's wellbeing.

Vet was knowledgeable, but staff had a bit of an attitude and when I got my dog back from being borded, she peed in the car... ALOT..she has never done that before or since. She obviously wasn't taken out. Also she became crate aggressive from being borded there. She is crate trained, bit after being there she would bark and growl whenever anyone but me approached her crate... She had never done this before either. She no longer does this, but it took about three months for her to be comfortable in her crate again. She has been boarded at other places with no problems. Ok place to go for regular vaccination, but wouldn't take my dog there for anything else. she was boarded once before here without problem, so it could just be due to one staff member? When I first started going here all the staff was kind and I had no complaints. But I won't go there anymore with the current staff. Last visit was five months ago

Been bringing our dogs here for 14 years and have always had compassionate folks help with a wide variety of issues. They even sent us a very nice card when our dog passed. They care.

We have been loyal clients of Dr.Closs at Grand Parkway Animal Clinic since the day that they opened. With all our rescues and medical fosters we spend ten thousands of Dollars there over the years - not anymore! We had appointments for 11 am for all 5 of our dogs today, which we confirmed yesterday, but when we arrived we were told "you are canceled" ? What? Who canceled? The extremely unfriendly receptionist told my husband he could wait, which he did, and then she proceeded to let all other later arrivals into one of the two rooms. When he asked what was going on she said "they had appointments" he said, "so did I, and I am waiting with 5 dogs since 30 minutes?" She told him he was free to leave if he did not like it. Well guess what, we are taking all our dogs and our business somewhere else.

Dr. Closs is the best. He took care of my Jax until he passed and now he takes care of Maximus and Matthias. He is wonderful and even took the time to spend thirty minutes on the phone with me when Jax was sick and he was too large to be moved (164 lb rottie). He sent home meds. Jax passed anyway, but Dr. Closs is the only veterinarian I would trust with my dogs. Period. Thank you Dr. Closs and all of the staff at Grande Parkway for all that you do! They even helped me get Jaxie into a stretcher when he had seizures and couldn't move at all. He is our vet for life!

I have been taking my pug and French bulldog to Grand Parkway Animal Hospital for the past 3 years. The staff is always friendly and they make my pets feel welcome. When the pug was 10 months old she ate a bunch of string and leaves and blocked her intestines. I was able to reach Dr. Closs very easily and set up an emergency visit. After initial diagnosis, the pug needed additional screenings, so I had to take her to another animal hospital for the ultrasound. In the end, Dr. Closs performed the surgery and saved my dog's life. The French bulldog once ate something that made her quite ill, so I needed to set up an appointment in Livingston, where I was visiting family. I called Grand Parkway Animal Hospital and they not only recommended a vet in the area, but also faxed over my dogs records, so they arrived in time for the visit. I board my dogs whenever I go on vacation with Grand Parkway Animal Hospital and I never worry about them because I know they are well taken care of.

This has become our go to pet doctor/boarding place. It's close to our home, the staff is friendly and they remember our dogs which is nice. Our dachshund had to have a vertebrae removed and bc of this hasn't been able to walk since until recently (partially). This means you have to relieve his bladder by hand. It's kind of tricky and he also randomly poops on the floor so I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving him with just anyone. GPAH knows him and his routine and always takes good care of him. I would highly recommend them to anyone living in the Sugar Land/Richmond area.

I had the WORST experience here. I brought in my puppy, clearly frantic and worried, because she had rolled around in a fire ant pile and was literally covered in fire ants. She had previously gotten bit by fire ants and we found out she was allergic to fire ant bites.I could still feel their stings as I carried her into the office. This was a Saturday at 12:30 PM, and most of the other vet offices were closed or about to be closed at 1 PM.I came here because it was the only one that was opened within that time frame (30 mins till 1 PM) , and was the closest to me. I calmly asked the secretary if I might see the vet because my dog was covered with fire ants, and she threw a glance at me and muttered, "Hold on" and turned back to her computer screen. She let me stayed there twiddling my thumbs for an additional TEN MINUTES before telling me, "The vet isn't here today." Seriously? You couldn't have told me that when I walked in or asked if I could see the vet?! You made me wait another 10 minutes and because of you, all the other veterinarian offices are now closed, and my dog can no longer get the help she needs that day at a reasonable price?! She didn't even apologize! I'm appalled at the secretary's attitude and would NOT recommend this place. I get it. It's a Saturday, and it's 30 minutes before closing, and you're anxious to leave. But this does NOT, in any way, excuse you from telling me that the vet isn't here when I first got in. You wasted MY time and my poor dog was suffering from fire ant bites, and possibly having an anaphylactic reaction. I ended up having to go to the emergency vet room for my dog, which resulted in some ridiculous costs, as expected, since all the vet offices were closed by the time I reach there, due to the hold-up I received at Grand Parkway.P.S.: Remember to read the filtered reviews for more reviews of this place. Yelp auto. filters them out if the person has written less than 3 reviews.

Grand Parkway Animal Hospital is one of the best vet clinics I have been to. Dr. Closs takes such good care of my animals. I love how he gives me options when it comes to treatment so I can figure out what works best for our wallet and the health of the animal. His staff is awesome and 85% of them have been there for years....that alone should tell you something. His is very fair when it comes to prices...especially if you compare it to all the other vet clinics around. Great animal hospital!

Good experiences. We use this vet clinic regularly, with all four of our cats. Dr. Closs has been kind and worked with us through our dog's cancer, even though she didn't make it. We recently had my kitten spayed there and the prices are reasonable and they were kind. Also, they notified me as soon as she was out of her surgery and let me know how it went and what time to pick her up. They are efficient, quick and kind. I highly recommend them.

This is where we take our yellow labs. The staff is very accomodating and the dogs are always quite happy when we pick them up. We've never had any problems. A year ago I had an incident with ticks at the Millie Bush bark park that infested my dogs terribly. Following the initial visit, the staff hand picked hundreds of ticks from my dogs and dipped them repeatedly without charge until they were clean. They are a little pricey, but again, great service and healthy animals...can't complain. We'll be back.

This place is also near my home. The staff was nice to me as were all the doctors. From the look and feel of the place it was clean and looked reputable. Was I so regretfully wrong. Basically the doctors prescribed my dog some medication for a small minor issue which started to cause other symptoms. The doctor brushed off these symptoms as normal with this medication. One day my dog got very very sick to the point I had to take him to the emergency room to find out the medication had severely messed up my dog from the inside out. The emergency vet near the gallaria told me that any vet should have immediately stopped the medication after we had reported the new minor symptoms days after starting his medication. This doctor let my dog take the medication for 2 months all the while reassuring us that the new minor symptoms were normal when the emergency room vet told me that they were actually slowly killing him. I am to the point where my dog may not make it out of this weekend and all I can think is that I tricked my dog into eating this medication which killed him. I hope no one ever has to experience this again. If anyone has medication from this vet please get a full report by another doctor and protect your dogs. To this day I still wish when my dog had his first minor allergic symptom I had visited the other vet on my list.

The attention to personal respect for your animal is in the utmost first concern of this clinic. I have been taking my animals across town to a long time family Veterinarian. I was recently introduced to Grand Parkway Animal Clinic, Dr. Closs and staff, who happens to be around the corner in the neighborhood and haven't been more pleased with the switch. I was recommended by a good friend who owns a Labrador Retriever and his dogs history is quite extensive with a medical issues. Upon that referral I have not been back to my long standing family vet in Southwest Houston since. Since knowing this vet I am exhausted with how much he continues his Veterinary Education with the State and numerous continuing education classes. Dr. Closs' knowledge and ability to keep my animals healthy with the concern of the economy and price will continue to refer him to more patients in the years to come.

This clinic was recommended by several friends, and they were right on. Great people and great service. The vet even went so far as to return my phone call at 7:30pm on a Friday night when I was having a problem with my puppies. I trust them enough to board my puppy there when I go out of town--and for a very reasonable price. I would definitely recommend this place!

I went to this vet two days after I bought my English Bulldog from a Dallas Breeder. He told me that he could not continue the series of shots (even though I had all the paperwork from the previous vet) because he was not present when the shots were perform, therefore, he cannot be sure if they were done properly. He told me to come back so we can start the series over.. Give me a break! My husband and I left that office and never looked back. We since then found a vet who completed the series of vaccinations, and now we have someone we can truly trust with our puppy's wellbeing.
