I have been a wellness plan participant and have taken my dogs to Banfield since 2003. Mostly I have been pleased with the vets that have cared for my dogs. The reception/check-out process has always been an area where process improvement was needed, but due to the care my pets were given and the relatively affordable cost, I have continued to stay with Banfield.I will NOT be renewing with Banfield again and will never recommend Banfield to another person! My dogs do not receive the same level of care or attention that Banfield used to provide. I stopped doing drop-off appointments about a year ago because when I picked up my dogs, I didn't really get a report of how the exam went. My dogs are old. One of my dogs is nearly 17, one is about 15, and our big guy is over 9. I believe it is very stressful for them to be in that environment for the whole day for a ten-minute exam. So now I schedule appointments for all of my dogs because, and I want to know what the vet has to say - I won't get a report if I drop them off. Over the past year, I have been very frustrated with the appointment process at Banfield. I usually have to wait about 20 minutes after my appointment time before I am moved to an exam room. Once in the exam room, the tech and vet usually are there within a few minutes. The last two exams were over within ten minutes, but then it took 10 or more minutes to check out. Why do I need to spend 40-60 minutes at Banfield for a 10 minute appointment? I could tolerate the time wasted if I was certain that my dogs were under good care. However, when I have asked about concerns or agreed to have further test run, I have not received timely follow-up. Or ANY follow-upOn May 3, I took my 15-year old dog to a 3:00 appointment for a normal comprehensive exam. She has a heart murmur and has had some abnormal blood work in the past. We had been advised that dental exams would be very risky so she hasn't had one in a few years. However, now this vet was very concerned about her teeth, as we are, and said that if we had a heart scan we could probably determine that under caution we could clean her teeth. We scheduled a drop-off appointment for Tuesday, May 9 to have the heart scan. An extra $360.On Tuesday, May 9, we dropped her off as instructed. We were told that they would provide as much information as they could when they picked her up, and after cardiologist review, we would get full results within a few days. We were also told at drop-off that she could be picked up by 2:00 and we would be called when she was ready. At 4:00, we called to find out when she would be ready. We were told that they were finishing, and we could go get her; she would be ready for pick-up when we arrived. We had to wait for 20 minutes after we arrived before she was brought out to us. We did not leave Banfield until after 5:00! Today is Monday, May 15 - I have called twice requesting the results/further information about her scan, to be told that the vet will have to call me back.In the meantime, on Saturday, May 6, I took the 9 year old dog to Banfield to have further testing done regarding his nose/face irritation and had his comp exam done at that time although a month early, since we were already there. I had asked about this nose condition before, but told it was nothing to worry about. However, his nose kept scabbing and bleeding, so I wanted to get him checked again. The vet indicated that it could be a form of Lupus, and testing would be an additional $80 (approx.). I agreed and had the blood taken. I was told that I would get results on Wednesday or Thursday of the next week. It is now Monday, May 15 - I have called twice requesting the results/further information. On the first call (Sat. May 13), I was told result had been returned and the vet would return my call. No one called. Today when I called, the person who answered the phone said that all bloodwork was normal (from his regular comprehensive exam? Or from the Lupus test? ???) I have asked that a vet return my call, as this "result" provided me no information about what is happening with my dog. This clinic has gone downhill. Customer service is not a priority, and now I am certain that animal care is not a priority either. The clinic seems to be more concerned with scheduling as many appointments as possible rather than caring for the pets that they see (and have seen for over a decade!) Read Less
