Horrible place. Takes advantage by being the only "emergency" vet clinic. I took my dog there Thursday night, they acted like they didn't want to treat her because she's a big dog and growled. I was convinced she had parvo. They didn't want to even test her. I asked them again and they finally did and sure enough, parvo. 600 bucks later they gave her a shot and antibiotics. Now today she's vomiting and diarrhea all over the place. Much much worse than when I took her Thursday. Called and they won't do anything without another 85 dollar exam fee then whatever the treatment will be. After 600 bucks they should care a little more. I'll never use this place again and highly recommend you don't either. Read Less

I came in because my puppy is VERY sick. The options they have me were just to pay a lot of money or a whole lot of money. They didn't really try to do anything to help us. I didn't have the 980.00 they required to try and see what was wrong with my baby. I paid them over 150.00 and they told me NOTHING. I could not afford the over night stay, stays, and all the blood work they felt I neededand I understand things aren't free but they just weren't willing to help us at all. They just wanted to make sure I signed forms to make sure they didn't liable. I am really hurt and disappointment in the careless way they treated my family. Read Less

Unfortunately I have had to bring two animals here, and both times were worst case scenarios but even through all that, the staff was patient, kind, answered all our questions and was compassionate. They gave us the time we needed to say goodbye and let us stay as long as we needed. I hope to never need an emergency vet again but Im thankful to know if I do there is a great one nearby. My cat was hit by a car and her back was broken. We raced to the Animal Emergency Center and the staff was completely amazing. They were so very kind, and honest, about her injury. Sadly, we had to have her euthanized but the staff couldn't have been more caring. So thankful this facility was there in our time of need. Read Less

The technicians were very good. The reason for the 2 stars is the veterinarian. Dr Gage was uncaring, unprofessional and unknowledgeable. If I ever need another veterinary clinic after hours and she is on I will drive to Waco or Round Rock. Read Less

Really nice people. I took my dog in on Christmas Day after she ate a ton of chocolate. The staff were really nice and helpful. They followed up the day after Christmas and the 27th to make sure our dog was still doing well. These people obviously love animals and what they do! Read Less

Rushed in with my older Golden who suffers from pancreatitis. The staff and Dr were awesome! They checked her out and sent us home with some special food and and an open door to return within 24 hours without an additional visit fee if she keeps vomiting. If your pet is family... My husband and I had taken our cat to another vet when she had signs of a severe upper respiratory infection. We were told her condition would improve overnight, and when it didn't we started to worry, as she seemed to have difficulty breathing.So we took our cat here around 11:00pm on the weekend and it was empty (thank goodness). He receptionist/vet tech that greeted us wasn't very friendly, and she kind of manhandled our cat when trying to get her out of the kennel (for working in a vet's office you'd think she'd know how to hold a cat!). But luckily our cat was very patient with her. Despite that, the veterinarian that saw us was very nice and knowledgeable. He reassured us that our cat was going to be fine, and gave us an idea about what to expect with her recovery. He didn't try to sell us on unneeded things like you often have to deal with at the vet's office, which was nice. We were given a printout with information about our cat's condition, and the exam only costed us $85, which is fairly cheap as far veterinary care goes.Update: Our other cat had a sudden stroke on Sunday evening, and we rushed him to this location only to find that they were closed on Sundays. Yes, an emergency 24 hour pet hospital is closed on Sundays. Our sweet kitten started seizing, and we quickly rushed him to the next closest 24 hour clinic in Killeen. Which was 30 minutes away. Sadly, when we got there, he died within 10 minutes of arriving. We are heart broken over the loss of our kitten, and certainly feel frustrated that this location couldn't be relied upon when we needed it the most. We will not be returning. Read Less

This place lacks true compassion and professionalism.  We were sent from Belton small animal clinic on 7/28/2017 to this clinic since they were closing and our fur baby needed further care.  Dr. Brown had called ahead to give them a report and let them know to expect our arrival.  When we arrived the door was unlocked but there wasn't a single person at the front desk or in the exam room.  I stood there with my poor fur baby in my arms asking if somebody was there.  Finally after several minutes someone came to the front desk and asked if this was Bam bam and then took him from the comfort of my arms and threw him in a metal cage without explaining anything to us.  I asked if the Vet was there and she promptly responded "No, he is on his way" then told us to go set in a room.  She then came back with an estimate of the cost of services and said "Do you want to do this or not and told us we would have to pay up front and if our dog didn't need the things that they estimated that they would credit us back.  She left us in the room then came back with a few papers that were printed from the internet with no explanation.  The papers were on DIC which was the presumed diagnosis that my fur baby had.  I am a nurse so I quickly looked over the papers that were handed to us and in big bold letters it said if a D-Dimer is positive then there is a 95% chance your dog is in DIC.  I quickly asked her if the lab had been drawn or if they could hurry up and draw it.  She looked at us with a blank face and asked for the papers back then just walked out of the room with no explanation.  Next the attending Vet Dr. Davis came in the room and seemed annoyed that we would actually read the information given to us and said they didn't have the capability of doing that lab. He gave no information to us regarding DIC or the chances of our fur baby surviving but just wanted to know what we had decided.  He left the room and the vet tech who never introduced herself came back and asked if we had decided.  I then asked if we could stay with our fur baby and her immediate response was the most unkind thing I could of heard at that moment.  She said "Only for a little bit and then you will have to leave".  What!!!  I'm sorry but I would never just drop my child off at the ER and then leave them.  I then looked at my husband and we decided we couldn't just leave our precious fur baby there in these non-compassionate cold hearted peoples care when he was scared and dying.  We decided at that moment to take our precious little guy home to give him the dignity, love and respect that he deserved with us by his side at all times.  When we told the staff our decision all they did was hand us a bill for over 100.00 and then handed us our fur baby.  They didn't tell us they were sorry or show any compassion.  They didn't tell us what to expect or the fact that he would seize all night and be in respiratory distress.  They gave him a pain injection before we left but didn't offer an oral anti-anxiety or pain medication for us to give him at home.  All they said was you can call us if you need anything.  That was one of the hardest nights of my life and they didn't show any love, compassion or kindness towards us or our fur baby.  As a nurse I would never treat anyone whether they are human or an animal in they way they treated us.  Thank goodness for the love and compassion that Dr. Brown and her staff had shown us at the Belton small animal clinic earlier that night and the next morning when we had our fur baby euthanized there.  Dr. Brown even kissed our precious fur baby before sending us out the door to that awful place.  Now that shows true compassion and kindness. I have been blessed to have a healthy 12 y.o. male cat to date; however, yesterday my cat became very ill and I took him to this emergency care center and the staff provided EXCELLENT care. The vet tech, despite the late hour, treated my cat with a gentle touch, compassion, and a true love for what he does; I couldn't have asked for a better experience despite the distressing situation. He provided clear and precise family education for how we should care for our cat until he can be seen for further treatment. I am so thankful for their help, although it was excellent, I pray I never have to visit again! Read Less

The doctor really knew how to treat my cat. He was able to save him with a strong antibiotic and a/d canned food. Would definitely recommend this place in any emergency. It is a little pricy, but I didn't mind for my fur baby. Read Less

We lost a dear member of our family in the 4th of July and had to take our dear German Shepard to the clinic to be cremated.  We received an emotional hand written note about a week later that brought a tear to our eyes.  They went above and beyond to care for dear Major.  This meant the world to us and I write this note sincerely appreciative for how they helped us get through this time. I needed to take my senior dog in for sudden onset pain and my regular vet closes at 5. They did a thorough physical exam and when it was determined that she was not in immediate danger, he offered an economical solution for me and comfort for my girl. Yes, it isn't cheap- but they care and try to do what is best for your pet and you. Read Less

It's wonderful to have a facility in the area we can trust our pets to in an emergency! My cat got into a cat fight at night and when we noticed him limping and bleeding on the carpet, I knew I shouldn't wait until the morning to have him examined by a vet. I called Animal Emergency Center and told them I was coming in. They were prepared for me when I got there. Filling out paperwork was efficient and there was no one else there so there was no wait. Dr. Kendall from Salado Vet was on duty. As my cat is not particularly easy for vets normally and especially while not in pain, they had a great cat box they used to gas him so they could examine him. Dr. Kendall found a deep bite wound that left untreated would have developed into an abscess for sure. He received an antibiotic shot and got cleaned up nicely. I love this place!!! They saved my fur baby! Can't ask for a friendlier staff and they take great care in explaining the illness, course of action and medications for going home. They notify your personal vet and let them know you are coming in that morning and they are there for any questions, any time of night. I can't recommend them enough!!!! Read Less

These guys are great.  My dog had been having problems breathing for a day and we thought we could wait until we got into our normal vet the next morning but when she deteriorated quickly overnight we visited this emergency vet center.  We got in right away and the vet and tech could see our distress in the situation and were very comforting.  Our dog had heart failure and had taken an abrupt turn for the worse and there was nothing more that could be done but they gave us plenty of time and privacy to make the heartbreaking decision to put her to sleep.  The center was very clean (I know...I was laying on the floor with my dog the whole time) and the vet and tech were very sweet to everyone, keeping lights low because of our sleeping baby and letting us say long painful goodbyes without any pressure.  When we left, I never expected to hear from them again because they were pinch hitters for our regular vet, but they took care of all of the communication with our regular vet so that everyone was aware of our dogs passing.  This was a relief as we all know that getting vet appointment reminders for an animal that has passed is painful and having to communicate after a death is difficult.  They took care of all of the cremation services and even sent us a condolence card later in the week.  All in all, a painful and distressing experience was lessened because this center was open in the off hours and is staffed by incredibly caring professionals. I took my dog to to the emergency clinic after she had an unfortunate mishap with one of her toys. The staff was excellent and the vet on duty (Austin Ledger) was amazing. Hopefully I never need an another after-hours pet clinic if I do I trust this clinic and will use them again. Read Less
