As a former veterinary technician, this review is written not just as a pet owner and client, but as someone who professionally knows the nature of the business.I have been to this clinic twice. The first time I saw Dr. Cabral. She was excellent. She was personable, good with both of my dogs, and gave them a comprehensive exam. Had it not been for my initial visit with Dr. Cabral, this review would only be one star. My second visit to this clinic was this week. I took both of my dogs in for their annual exams. First was check-in. The receptionists are not personable, communicative or thorough. I told them who I was and what I was there for. I handed them the fecal samples I brought in for each dog. They took it to the back and left me standing there with no communication. After standing there for awhile, I guessed I must be checked in and went to have a seat. Usually weights are taken on each of the dogs on the scale at the reception desk at this time or just before entering the exam room but no one, not the front desk staff nor the vet ever took a weight on my dogs. When I was called back to an exam room it was with the clinic owner, Dr. Gosney. At least that is what I had to figure out for myself as he never introduced himself or made any means of being personable. He gave each of my dogs the worst exams they have ever had in their lives. Neither exam was comprehensive. As I mentioned, no weights were taken. Dr. Gosney did not even look at my dog's charts to see their history. He didn't even bother to note their names or sex as he never called them by name, tried to be nice to them to calm them, and would refer to them only by the incorrect sex, calling a she a he and vice versa. One of my dogs has a history of seizures. Having not looked at the chart, he didn't know this and didn't bother to inquire on seizure activity or health of either dog. He didn't listen to their hearts (they are both entering senior life stages), take temperatures, or feel their bodies over for any signs of tumors or body condition. When he vaccinated them, he did all three vaccines in the same spot, subcutaneous (just below the skin) on the side of the rib cage. Vaccines should not be administered all in the same area of the body. It is customary to spread each one out. Usually one on each thigh and one between the shoulder blades. This helps reduce sensitivity as well as helps a veterinarian identify which vaccine is causing a reaction should one occur. As a result, afterwards one of my dogs was very sore, yelping to the touch for the remainder of the day. I had also asked Dr. Gosney to give my poodle a privacy shave (a quick clip around the anus to help prevent feces from accumulating in his long hair). When I would do this as a technician, you would very carefully clip hair away. Dr. Gosney shaved him bald to the skin, knicking and cutting my dog's anus. It is now four days later and my poor dog is still miserable from his sore bum. It has affected his whole temperament. He's usually loving and cuddly. Now he's just hiding under the bed in misery. I will NEVER trust Dr. Gosney with my pets again. He seems like he has one foot out the door to retirement and is not committed to being a good veterinarian. This careless and incomprehensible approach to pet care is dangerous. Read Less
