Doctor Gudgel is a very honest and informative Vet. He is very thorough with his exams. The Doc explains every step of his exams and is open to questions. The rest of the staff is very friendly. The team here saved our Boxer from the brink of death when she was suffering from an serious illness. We will always be thankful to them. I have been told by others that the prices are slightly higher than other vets in the area. Read Less

They are great to work with and are so pleasant at every appointment. Even though I am always 30 minutes early for my appt. they are always ready to receive us. Edit, We got another sweet baby December 2016, Cali, they took care of her just like they have our kitties, even trimmed her nails for me (at that time I was kinda scared I would hurt her so I hadn't done it) but I'm good now, Thank you for always taking care of our sweet fur babies! Recently I had went to Temple Vet Hospital Western Hills, because it was a vet place that I have been well familiar. I have taken my moms dogs there and recently my cats. They have been my primary vet for years, but recently I am ashamed for even referring them at all to friends that have fur babies! The vet seemed very uncaring when I had brought in my cat my baby girl. Basically stating that she is anemic, but would not know for sure unless tests were done. Which were a bit out of our price range, and he stated that she may have six months to live who knows since she was slowly dying! I was distraught by this, and then he stated four options that we would have. Which were 1-Take her home and in a month or so up to six she hopefully dies peacefully. 2-Have xrays done that were $130 plus $50 after the first one if need to take more. 3-Keep her overnight to give her a blood transfusion and fluids for $300. 4-Putting her down! I was done at this point, because all the options he were giving was so outrageous in range that there were no payment plans at the least. Though he did suggest a humidifier and 2x benedryl a day of 25mg. Which the humidifier has helped, but with twice the medication is just once a day. Cause twice made her drowsy to not wanting to do anything! Luckily we found other solutions that have helped her, and for a cat that is “dying” or so he says is being more active now. For that fact that we have found foods to help her with her anemia, and she is certainly not dying! I am looking for another vet, because I don’t need a vet to basically say that there is no other solutions other than basically death! Read Less

I have used Dr. Gudgel for several years now with my 4 dogs and I have never been disappointed. I recently had to put my 13 year old dog down and I couldn't have done it without him and the staff. I've been taking my animals to Dr. Gudgel for as long as I've lived in Temple. I'm always happy with the staff's friendliness and knowledge. My late beloved Hunter Dog loved going to see his best friends but, I'm sorry to say, the cats, Hershey and Rachel have to be drug out from under the bed if I mention the word, "vet". I just wanted Thank Temple Veterinary Hospital of Western Hills, 2312 W Adams Ave, Temple, TX for outstanding service and going above and beyond. We were about 1700 miles from home and our pets allergy's were getting the better of him. I was able to get an appointment that day. The whole staff were professional and friendly service. I talk to the Veterinarian about some other things that were going on with our pet while we were there. He suggested a couple things that should be done but never pushed us to have it done there. He suggested that we have it done sooner than later once we got back home. We were going to be in town for another week and I asked the Veterinarian if he would be able to get our pet in before we left. They were able to get him in before we left and I asked if I could talk to my wife when I got back to camp and explain to my wife what information I was given, They were so kind and said know problem; I called them a couple hours later to have the appointment set up. Our pet is now doing fine and I wish these guys were close to where we live. Just wanted to say Thank You. The reason for four stars is not that you don't deserve Five Stars. We brought our dog in to shots and spaying a couple of weeks ago. We were very nervous about how she would react to being dropped off for the day and having surgery. The young lady at the front desk was GREAT with her. I was very surprised that when I picked her up the doctor came out to talk to me to let me know how everything went and to let me know they were there if she needed anything! We brought our little dog in for a teeth cleaning. The vets were warm, professional, took a lot of time explaining everything, and the pricing was reasonable - and included all the extras (like full health examination, IV fluids to flush the anesthesia, pain meds, and necessary extractions). The facility is inviting and backs up to a small open space where the techs can be seem walking the dogs to keep them happy! Great place! Read Less

My dog has always been healthy but after moving to Temple my dog began having problems with itching and skin lesions. Dr. Gudgel was wonderful and explained exactly what was wrong with my dog and all the possible options for helping him, both things I could buy from his clinic as well as over the counter options. The price of the office visit was very fair. The whole office staff was very pleasant and patient with my dog. The only negative is they don't fill online prescription requests, you have to buy prescriptions/food/etc. in store. I would definitely recommend this office to anyone needing veterinary care in the Temple area. Read Less

They went above and beyond for me and my pup. I walked in without an appointment with a very sick pup and they were able to help me. They were busy and short staffed but still accommodated me and my baby. From the tech, dr, and front desk they were all friendly and sincere. When I was checking out another client walked in without an appointment 15 min till they closed and the Dr still saw her. Not every clinic would do that. I can't thank them enough. Read Less

Dr and staff were great! Everything was explained to me and and he even showed me the problem my sweet Zoe was having! My puppy attended her first appointment at Temple Veterinary Hospital of Western Hills on October 17, 2015. Her doctor gave me a list of shots she was due for and suggested a microchip that they offer in case dogs get lost. I immediately asked what her total would be if I got all the shots, including the microchip and was told 46.50. I paid for everything. My puppy had another appointment on September 1, 2015 in which she got more shots, and i paid around 38 dollars. Today, I took her to yet another appointment, but was greeted with the most unprofessional behavior I have ever experienced. As I checked my puppy in the woman, whom refused to give me her name or anyone else that was involved name, informed me that she would be adding 55 dollars to my bill. I immediately questioned why, and she then told me that they had forgotten to charge me $55 for a microchip she received at her first appointment. I immediately was confused, because I had paid the total cost of everything the same day. They had told me that the total cost including the chip was 46.50. If I had known the chip alone was 55 dollars I wouldnt have gotten it or paid for it. I have gotten my previous dogs chipped for 20 dollars at the shelter. I asked for a print out of my previous invoices so that I can see what I paid for initially. She rolled her eyes and began to scroll the computer. I questioned her on why she hadn't contacted me about any billing issues, and she ignored me. I knew where this was going so I asked could I have my dogs records and we were leaving after she got the shots she was suppose to get that day. A heavy set woman then came from the back and asked what was going on. I explained to her the situation and she rolled her eyes and told the receptionist to give me my records, and then refused to treat my dog like this was ny fault. They refused to give me names. They handed me the charts and then everyone of them proceeded to the back laughing as my family left. This was an attempt to steal an extra $55 from me. Beware this vet office. They try and add cost that they never mentioned before to a bill months down the line. If I could give them 0 stars I would, and I have escalated my issue to the better business bureau. Read Less

This place was recommended to me by a friend. I have been taking my puppy here for the last year for routine vaccinations and his neutering surgery. The prices are very reasonable, and the staff is very warm and friendly. The vet we routinely saw, Dr. G, was efficient and did a great job, although not very talkative. Every time I took our puppy to the vet, we were in and out in a timely manner. We have since moved to Houston, and when our new vet and doggie daycare center have requested records from them, they sent them over quickly.I highly recommend this place! Read Less
