I love that this is the most affordable place near me. We dont constantly have a lot to spend on vet trips for minor things. The receptionist/nurse is a doll full of smiles. We had to make the tough decision to end our dog's suffering and our usual vet couldn't see us same day so we called Animal Health Centre and they made time to get us in ASAP. Dr. Durham and his staff are outstanding. I have a very active American Pit Bull Terrier who seems to get herself in all manner of situations. The lastest was a run in with a cactus patch she ended up with literally thousands of cactus needles in her. Very impressed with the level of attention and service provided.  I have a large German Shepherd with a bit of social anxiety and the Doctor and staff were extremely patient, encouraging and knowledgeable.  While I was in for dog allergies and treatment they also provided some tips and suggestions for training.  Very competitive prices as well.  I would highly recommend Animal Health Centre of the Colony. If I could give 0 stars I would. Like others have said: he over charges and is very rude and condescending. He makes you feel like if you don't spend hundreds every time you come in then you don't care about your animal. We had been taking our dog to him for a while, then one time our dog got really sick and we ended up paying hundreds for nothing. We decided to get a second opinion and when we asked for our dogs records he didn't want to release them. We had just paid for extensive blood work and x-rays he made us feel we needed otherwise our dog would die. Then when he did finally give us the records the x-rays and information were sub-par.Read Less

Dr. Durham makes sure that you understand the possible causes of your animal's ailment and partners with other leading professionals in the Dallas area when necessary. He also ensures to answer all of your questions and concerns whether you are at an appointment or simply calling because you are worried about your pet. I would recommend Animal Health Center of The Colony. Dr. Durham took very good care of my Siamese kitty when he had a blocked urinary track; this is common for male cats. He was very gentle with my cat and took the time to explain EVERYTHING he was going to need to do to make him feel better. He did NOT rush and answered EVERY question. He gave a FULL estimate of costs before performing any procedure. Dr. Durham called twice with updates. ANY vet visit is expensive but when you get quality time and care it is worth it especially when it is a "member of your family". His staff was very nice too.Read Less

The sign out front says "compassionate health care".It should say "uncompassionate health care"I took my dog to this clinic because of a coupon.I was given an estimate for surgery to remove tumors on her leg. She was also treated for a chronic ear infection. 2 weeks after her ear drops ran out she had another bad infection. I took samples from her ears to the office on my way to work to get more meds. The vet their wouldn't give me any ear drops with out seeing the dog.I couldn't be late for work so she had to suffer all day.I called my old vet and she told me to stop by on my way home and she gave me the drops because she knew the history..no office visit required.She also gave me an estimate to remove the tumors that was 150.00 less than that bunch at "uncompasssionate health care"I apologize to Dr. Wild at the Colony Animal Clinic for letting a 10.00 coupon make me try another vet. I will never stray again.The Colony Animal Clinic is on Paige rd. The office is not as new or fancy as the other but they truly are compassionate healthcare. Read Less

I just brought my little Kilo into this vet, sorta last minute. I was pretty sure our new (clawed) kitty scratched his eye. I frantically called around the area to see who could fit him in. (We just lost a kitty a few months ago, so I'm a little paranoid!). Most of the places I called wouldn't even take a new client the same day. (Uh, weird!) So I called Animal Health Centre and they fit him in this afternoon. Plus it is very close to the casa!   I got there early (I know, I know, thank god I don't have children!!!) and they got me right in and started checkin him out. No scratches on the eye, yay!! But more than likely an infection, so they got him started on antibiotics. They printed me out a detailed invoice, plus gave me another print out on shot pricing and declawing for the little one. Very very affordable!! (Compared to other vets I'd been to). The vet, Dr. Durham, was SO nice and SO thorough. He spent alot of time with us and asked questions and answered questions. He was SUPER. It's just a small town vet, I believe it's just himself and his tech. It was actually nice to not have a room full of other animals in the waiting room. But he was steadily taking patients, so I thought that was good. Anyway, I'm VERY weird about doctors and vets, so I can't believe my good fortune this time! My prior vet is waaaaay on the other side of Mesquite so we've been thinking of getting a closer vet anyway. Check tis vet out if you are in The Colony area. I'm so very pleased. Read Less
