These people care about your animals. They have the talent and the drive to help animals in need, and I recommend them to anybody and everybody. They are skilled, kind, and genuinely want to help. I was nervous about taking my rescue dog into a vet (idk why) and started off a little on edge. By the time three girls had gently stroked the dog's ears, and cooed soothingly to her while working quickly and efficiently to take her temperature, weight, etc.... let's just say that when we left, both the dog and I were more at ease and felt happier and healthier than when we walked in. This is my idea of a perfect local vet. All of the vets there are sympathetic, knowledgeable, and fight hard for your pet. They had the painful job of telling me that the orphaned kitten I had rescued hadn't made it through the night. The genuine empathy and sorrow was clear, and they sent my family a small sympathy card (a thing they have done every time an animal we took to them, whether under their care or not). I truly can't tell you how much I will miss this animal hospital, and the onky reason I'm considering changing to another is that we have moved to live 45 minutes away. Nothing short of moving could dissuade me from taking my pets here. Will never even think to take our fur baby anywhere else! The care and love that every single staff member puts into the animals is simply amazing. They have taken such good care of our sweet pup, Lilo, since we rescued her in May. Every time we go in we are greeted with smiling faces and lots of love and petting for Lilo. They are quick to answer questions and elaborate on procedures and aftercare instructions so you know that your pet is as well taken care of as possible. I would never take my fur babies anywhere else, All three of the Vets are amazing and always go above and beyond to care for my animals as if they were their own. I was there this past Saturday with my cat who is 7 years old and suffers with allergies. The clinic staff and doctors are always so kind. I adopted my dog from Killeen Animal Services this past month. I brought my dog here and she had colored discharge coming out of her nose. They immediately told me that she had distemper or influenza and that either way it was a bad outcome. They gave her two weeks to live and told me I should contact the shelter to see if they could put her down. I asked if I could get a test done to test for distemper and the lady told me it was a waste of money because by the time I got the results back my dog would be dead. I looked up the reviews on Yelp and saw an almost identical story and decided to get a second opinion. The second vet I took her to said she didn't have symptoms of distemper and that all she had was an upper respiratory infection. The vet also said the lady used to work there and "there is a reason she doesn't work here anymore." If I had listened to this place my dog, who is now completely healthy, would have been put down for no reason. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. In fact, I will be reporting this lady! I just wonder how many healthy dogs have been put down because of her! Read Less

I adopted my sweet dog from a shelter and a few days later she came down with a bad cough and a runny nose. I first took her to Northside, after hearing good things. The veterinarian looked her over, listened to her lungs, asked a few questions, all normal. He then quickly told me it was probably distemper and gave us medicine to help "treat the symptoms" and said if she wasn't better in three days it was most likely distemper and there wouldn't be anything else he could do and that putting her down at that point would be most humane. So the next Monday I took her to South Bosque Veterinary Clinic and they told me the "medicine" I had gotten from Northside was nothing more than cough suppressant and electrolyte supplements. My dog ended up having hookworms and kennel cough. 100% treatable and I got actual antibiotics for my girl. She's doing wonderful and definitely did not have distemper. If I had followed the directions of Northside, she would have been put down for no reason at all other than the fact that Northside did not even test her for worms, or give her actual medication to help her. I feel real bad for writing this review but I think its important for people to know. one of the helpers lied to the Dr. Dr told helper to give my dog 4cc of fluids and when she requested male helper Bob to help he ask how much to give she replied 2cc's then when Dr asked how much did she administer she replied 4cc Dr requested an overnight stay to regulate blood sugar levels but no one was there during the night to see that done. my dog was given 13 cc of insulin instead of half a dose when no food is taken picked her up at 6pm she was dead by 130 am no one stays there at night my dog hasn't never been without her family if I had known this fact I would have insisted to stay there over night with her. I miss her so bad. I wrote two post dated checks Dr told me not to worry she will take care of them since she died am now paying off a warrant for my arrest and the fines. $464.?? dollars I paid for service's not provided and the Death of my loved one Dr Stewart who had been my vet died 2 years before. He was great saved two of my dogs. one with provro the other with a blockage in her digested track So when it is requested for an overnight stay be informed their is no one there during the night when I took my girl there May 2014 mothers day weekend was not a happy one for me.Read Less

One of the best vets that I've been to. They are very caring and understanding. They are willing to sit and explain the situations that may be going on with your pet.  They aren't expensive like many veterinarians. Jerry Stewart at Northside Animal Hospital in Waco is someone I have known for over 20 years, and those same 20 years has been my vet. I could not ask for a better friend and veterinarian. I moved to California a year ago and I am now moving back and so glad to have Jerry to come home to for my pets. He is very compassionate and understanding knowing my dogs are like my kids, he really knows what his is talking about, very straight forward and a very honest man.
