Dr. Erwin has been treating my dog since he drank antifreeze in 2013. She saved his life and later discovered that he was also diabetic and has low thyroid. She has been professional and is always there for her patients. I would disallow the disgruntled ex-employee's one star review. If Dr. Erwin went off on her crew, they probably needed it. As a retired RN, I have had to do the same to staff when they screwed up. It is much worse when the patient can't talk. I have also boarded my dog with her knowing that she is there to keep an eye on him. She is an excellent Vet! Read Less

When we came to pick our dog up the next day, Dr. Ervin was enthusiastic when reporting that he had improved with the medicine she administered, which proved again that she really cares about her patients. The prices are fair and the staff is very friendly. Sarah went into detail about how to administer the medications they sent us home with, which was appreciated. We were told by a local vet to bring our dog here for over night observation. After calling to confirm they had availability we arrived only to have the receptionist second guess the vets assessment, the woman at the counter questioned every line on the vets assessment. We told her to call the vet and ask him as we are not vets. The next day, the vet called to get an update from tamc only to get grief about why tamc should accept a “transfer”. The vet at tamc said in a loud voice for us to hear all the way down the hall the “they will not release the dog until Northside gets their act together.” It seems she was mad because she didn’t get the emergency charge she so greedily wants. We now understand why she has so many negative reviews. We will never return there nor recommend this place to anyone! Read Less

My family talked me into bringing my guinea pig to get checked bc he wasn't eating. He is 2 years old. I called to see how much it was and it was $55. My family took him there when I was at work. I got a text at work saying the bill was $250 (I have attached a picture). I was livid! The vet said she's not sure what's going on and decided to give him a bunch of shots and send him home with a syringe of medicine. My family told me that the vet didnt even tell them what she was doing nor did she give them a heads up of how much everything would cost. My family found out at the end when the clerk says, $250 please. I take my puppy here as well. Not anymore. I have another puppy I will be picking up and I will be taking my business elsewhere. Needless to say, He did not get any better and today (1 week later) he is barely moving and breathing slower. I called today asking if they could just give him a quick shot and let him go without suffering. (Thinking it's fair due to the fact they didn't know what was wrong with him and gave him every drug a guinea pig could take) they said "oh nooo we can't do that, but you can bring him in for another appt and it will be $55" I hope this post tells you a couple things: 1. If you have a guinea pig and they stop eating, just let them go the natural way or try feeding them through a syringe for awhile. Don't take them to the vet (especially this vet) and have them go through all of this and suffering longer. 2. Consider another Vet. One who is more caring and understanding to where they would be more than happy to help you bc let's be real, they made you pay $250 and all it did was prolong his suffering. They could have at the very least see him for free and then say it will cost this much money to give him the shot and send him to heaven. This post may appear that I am writing out of anger bc my Guinea pig is dying. I promise you that's not why I wrote this post. Please consider another Vet for your sake and your animals sake. God bless. Read Less

If you care about your pet DO NOT take them here. It reeks of old urine and the vet is uncaring and rude. They sent me home without knowing that my dog was in heart failure and had tapeworms. They told me how to administer the medicine and I was sent on my way. The vet wouldn't talk to me and seemed mad at any vet tech that walked past her. I've never been or worked for a vet who lets a dog with such a serious problem go home without talking to the owner and making sure they know what to do and what needs to be done in the future. I have honestly never heard anything good about this vet and unfortunately I had to experience it myself and it is very true how awful this place is. Read Less

This was the worst vet I have ever been to! Not only did it smell of old pee the doctor was super rude and unhelpful. The doctor would not tell me what was going on with my dog! She sent the nurse to explain the medicine which she couldn't tell me anything either. I come to find out my dog was/is in heart failure! For a vet to not talk to a patient about their dogs heart failure is crazy! I also was not told that he had tapeworms! It was written very small on my itemized recite, no one told me about them and I wasn't given medicine for them! I left not knowing what to do for my dog and not knowing if he will get better and be off medicine or if this is a life process. So thanks Dr. Ervin for nothing! Today was a very sad day as we noticed our 10 year old cat Lucy having trouble walking this morning. Her legs were unable to hold up her body. We took her in and Dr. Lu Ann saw Lucy at once. We were told in the gentlest manner that the cat had a severe stroke and rehab would most likely be impossible. Putting the cat to sleep would be the kindest and most humane thing we could do. So we took her advice and stayed with Lucy until the end. I highly recommend this clinic. The kindness and gentleness shown went way beyond our expectations in a very difficult time.Read Less

I have been "behind the scenes" here and I was horrified. I was at a volunteer type thing and Dr. Ervin and the staff were rude to me and did not make me feel welcomed at all. The things I saw back there just blew my mind and made me wonder about all vets in general. There was an elderly dog that could not stand up very well on his own and instead of helping him get up the KICKED him down the hall and joked about it! There was blood crusted on the floors and nothing seemed very clean. Dr. Ervin was talking poorly of all her patients and making fun of everyone who came in that day. The boarding kennels were gross and not take care of. They claim that boarding dogs get taken on walks every day but this is false. They are kept in tiny cages (unless you pay more for the "luxury" boarding) and most of them soil their crates because they never get let out. The "walk" they get to go on is being pulled along about an unhappy employee around a small yard and they are not even given time to stop and use the bathroom. All the animals seem scared and unhappy. I know that animals are scared when they are away from home but these animals were miserable. I have worked in boarding kennels and vets offices before and have NEVER seen anything like this. I cried when I left because I was so disturbed by what  I saw. I have also heard that the prices are very high but thankfully I have never made the mistake of taking my animals there. I have heard rumors about her having her licensed revoked multiple times and being involved in lawsuits but I do not know of these are true. In my opinion, avoid this place at all costs. I think they made a new emergency clinic on I-35 so go there if your pet needs emergency attention. Read Less

We have a brood of dogs and I'm very thankful that Dr. Ervin provides emergency vet care. Yes, you will pay a pretty penny after hours, but that's the cost of having the place staffed 24/7 and getting Dr. Ervin out of bed in the middle of the night. She's treated our dogs for ordinary issues to raccoon attacks. We're boarded our dogs there and they have some dog "condos" where your dogs can stay together. Her prices for vet care during regular business hours are reasonable. The clinic's record keeping for vaccinations is excellent and they're always willing to fax the records elsewhere promptly: this has NOT been my experience with other clinics. Read Less

I use Dr. Ervin as my Emergency Vet and have had NO problems. As to requiring full payment, that's not just her -- it's most veterinarians. My "regular vets" that I normally use for non-emergency care require full payment when you walk through the door. That's the very reason I keep an emergency credit card. The problem isn't the veterinarian -- it's the track record of customers who lie to them and want something for nothing or dump their animals on the staff and never come back. Animals cost money and time, folks!I've found her to be very nice and my animals have always responded positively and warmly to her, even when they were normally apprehensive little stinkers to people they did not know. I don't pick up any tension or fear from her staff like other reviewers have said. She was very nice to her two assistants, and they were very nice and relaxed with me and my animals. In the last 3 years, I have brought in a dog in anaphylaxis from an insect bite, a Quaker parrot with a sprained leg, and an African Grey with a broken beak from an encounter with his hormonal mate. All three were stabilized and recovered without incident.I am far from wealthy and I find her pricing to be reasonable, especially for late-night emergency care. If you call ahead, they will be ready for you. I would strongly recommend doing that. As to the reviewer who says "she answers the door at night with a gun in her hand" -- if you were a FEMALE alone in a clinic at NIGHT with PRESCRIPTION DRUGS and MONEY in an area surrounded by higher-crime neighborhoods (North Waco, Bellmead) and large dark vast fields, what would YOU do? My dog had been bitten by a snake, and when I asked if they were open this woman greeted me with "if you need me to be" like I was doing her a disservice by bringing my animal here and told me that it was stupid of me to take my dog to Cameron park and pretty much denied me service. Even though my dog was in obvious pain and needed medical attention. If I could give 0 stars, I would. What a horrible doctor and terrible place. Do not recommend.

God bless. Read Less

Then, I was placed on hold for over 8 minutes to find out a simple answer only to have someone else pick up the phone. I had to start over with my question & they would not take the time to check for my answer at all. If they can't have the time to find the answer to 1 question, I would not expect them to handle my pets with the time they deserve either. Due to our experience, I would not recommend this company at all. Friendly business starts with the way you handle phone calls & questions. I called this evening in a panic over my little pomeranian. Dr. Ervin got me right in diagnosed my little girl and promptly gave her medication. She was very professional and concerned. I've been going to TAMC for 7 yrs and then had to stop due to being laid off. But when I called this afternoon she did not hesitate to get me in and never once asked why I stopped going by. Now that I'm back to work will be going back. She maybe a little pricey but quality care for my furrbabies is more important than saving a buck. MJ Fuller Read Less

My 9 month Shitzu and money will never go back to this clinic. Reported to her my dog had been sick with diarrhea and I wanted to get him checked while I brought him in for grooming and vaccines. She assured me he did not have worms but a bacteria infection, charged me for fecal test, antibiotics, and diarrhea meds. After two weeks he still has symptoms and worse, come to find out he has roundworms. The next $350 will be spent at a facility that has time to truly take care of my pet. Overpriced and no concern for a healthy pet. Read Less
