Called Banfield yesterday to ask if they have the medicine my dog needs (my vet didn't have it this time) and to find out the price. Was quoted $36.50 for the meds and scored a coupon for a free exam through their website. Scheduled an appointment and had my vet fax records over so we wouldn't have to duplicate tests we'd already done.
Arrived 20 minutes early, was taken in 10 minutes late. My promptness and their tardiness made for a long wait.
Once in the exam room, the vet badgered me until I agreed to a test I didn't think my dog needed. I wanted to leave, but the medicine is hard to find and he really needed it, so I agreed to this one test, for an additional $38.67.
I was limited on time and told them so. I had already been in the exam room for 20 minutes. This seemed to slow them down even more. Again I said "I really need to go." and finally was escorted to the check out desk.
The girl checking us out says, "$129.52."
Um, no ma'am. I told her I was quoted the price prior to scheduling and she asked if I had talked to the doctor about it. No, didn't need to. Got the price yesterday. She essentially tells me too bad, so sad. Fortunately my phone records all calls.
After disappearing to the back for what seemed an eternity, (forgot to mention it was like an oven in there) she reappeared and slowwwly began the process of taking off the extra charge. When I asked about the unreasonable temperature, I was told "Corporate sets it. Nothing we can do here but suffer in the heat." I feel sorry for all the dogs in their clinic. It was HOT.
What a hassle. Won't be going there again. That $50 makes a big difference in our weekly budget, but Banfield didn't care.

Dr. Ecklund is an great doctor. He's empathetic and caring towards pets. He was able to treat a serious illness within a short time. My dog was diagnosed with pancreatitis upon admission to Banfield. He acted immediately to inform me and begin treatment asap. He seems to have prescribed the proper medications with great consideration to the furry little baby's comfort. I have to say I was panicking and I could tell the staff were annoyed with me. She had the best possible plan/insurance through Banfield, however the cost of treatment accumulated quickly. I would've given 5 stars if it weren't for the office manager's approach to customer service/manners in medical circumstances. Dr. Ecklund unarguably has excellent diagnostic and treatment skills. I've been bringing my 4 year old Pit Bull to this location for about 7 months now. Although the service has always been excellent, I was a little nervous about her teeth cleaning appointment after reading some anesthesia horror stories online. The veterinarian called two hours after I dropped her off saying my dog's pre-op test results were slightly abnormal and they wanted to postpone the cleaning...which was actually a relief! My worst fear was losing my furry best friend during a routine dental cleaning! The veterinarian was very informative and caring. She took plenty of time to explain all of her concerns and thoroughly answer all of my questions over the phone. I greatly appreciate that she properly examined my dog and caught the red flags before putting my dog under anesthesia. We are now in the process of addressing those red flags.UPDATE:Sadly my fur baby passed away, but I want to thank Banfield and Dr. Davaloz for everything they did. They always treated my baby and I so kindly. Although it's just "that vet inside Petsmart", it's obvious that the veterinarians are passionate, knowledgeable, and caring. Read Less

They took very good care of my parents cat (well, technically he's theirs and a little mine-but he's on my account) when he fell ill yesterday with kidney failure.Although the bloodwork and IV fluid therapy was quite expensive compared to other vets in the area, I understand it was thoroughly needed due to his state of health.We appreciated the availability to get our sick member of the family in, the kind and compassionate care showed by Dr. Young and the understanding of at home care but we will be receiving follow up blood work and services from a private vet I work for. This is why I am familiar with prices in area. Not coming back is not a reflection on the team as they were wonderful but just a personal decision. I am glad at least one Banfield in the area does not have a bunch of random bafoons employed by the company as I have seen so many, many others have. I am always wary of Banfields due to their corporate mind set and inability to hire/keep well trained and professional staff but rest assured (for the time being- as Banfield has a reputation for staff over turn) that this one has quality medical care. I will say, I didn't receive a follow up call to check on him -- I know it is routine. So, that would have been nice. Once again, this Banfield hospital exceeded my expectations. I dropped my dog off at 9:45 AM on a Sunday for a comprehensive exam, and I was able to get a call back at 11:30 AM the same morning with the results. Wow! I had budgeted at least 4-5 hours, which is what my prior Banfield hospital out of state would have taken.This summer has already been an exceptionally bad flea season in Texas, particularly due to the unprecedented rain fall that has been soaking the DFW area. Banfield understood this and was able to get an appointment for my dog a day prior, which I was quite surprised in. Being that my dog is on the wellness plan, I had previously purchased a 6-month supply of First Shield at a reduced rate. However, this influx of fleas and ticks required something stronger, so I had to up his medication to that of a Benadryl mix that was just short of ultimately getting Trifexis, which will have to be the next step. With a shampoo and conditioner to help remedy my dog's itching, the total bill came to $51. Not only that, I greatly appreciated the attention given to not just the dog by both the receptionist and doctor, but also to how the additional specialist was able to explain the medications as well as cost breakdowns to me without fear of rushing through the interaction over the telephone. Further, the follow up call the next morning with concern to my dog was well appreciated.This Banfield location is certainly a good one in Watauga! Read Less

My experience with Banfield was horrible. I read the reviews and was hoping these people were wrong, but they're not. The veterinarian didn't know very much, she avoided every question I asked her. My visit wasn't very cheap, and I certainly turned down their stupid scam with the health care plan. They charged me for a blood cell count test AND for the process of actually drawing the blood. I'm just glad my dog bit the damn woman. I will never return to ANY Banfield or Petsmart for that matter. Read Less

I can't believe how ridiculous the people that work here are. They never have accurate records- they can NEVER find us in the system. We originally started our puppy plan in Southlake and trying to switch to a different location was a nightmare for starters. Even though I pay hundreds of dollars up front for a dog plan, it seems I am always being charged for something or "the plan is expired", etc. I had to pay full price for neutering my dog because they conveniently forgot to tell me that after 5 months old, the plan will not pay for the neuter. My dog is also TERRIFIED of coming here- he normally loves going places especially petsmart. He literally shakes and I have to drag him to go in. They also take FOREVER. I have dropped my dog early in the morning and call all day and he is never ready. I feel terrible for taking my dog here but I have been sucked into a very expensive plan with a very unexperienced group of employees. Read Less

So after calling our regular vet, and hearing the news( $375 for a doggie dental and required shots prior to dental) I knew I had to look elsewhere. So we called Banfield...which are located in most Petsmarts.Banfield only required current rabies, which we had, and an exam...we were good to go. Fresh white teeth, great breath and only $180 out of my pocket...our Dixie Dog has a whole new out look on life. Or maybe I just enjoy being close to her again..she smells clean!!! Too bad you can't give listerine to dogs!Over all it was a great experience. Friendly and attentive. We received a call after the procedure to tell us Dixie was coming out of anesthesia with no problems. When we picked up Dixie, my 14 yr old daughter, who loves to talk, asked the vet all about first jobs in the field. Dr. Priebe answered all her questions and added advice with the patience of a saint!Will go back for regular care...not to mention...goodies for Dixie after us torturing her. Lol. I've been bringing my 4 year old Pit Bull to this location for about 7 months now. Although the service has always been excellent, I was a little nervous about her teeth cleaning appointment after reading some anesthesia horror stories online. The veterinarian called two hours after I dropped her off saying my dog's pre-op test results were slightly abnormal and they wanted to postpone the cleaning...which was actually a relief! So after calling our regular vet, and hearing the news( $375 for a doggie dental and required shots prior to dental) I knew I had to look elsewhere. So we called Banfield...which are located in most Petsmarts.Banfield only required current rabies, which we had, and an exam...we were good to go. Fresh white teeth, great breath and only $180 out of my pocket...our Dixie Dog has a whole new out look on life. Or maybe I just enjoy being close to her again..she smells clean!!! Too bad you can't give listerine to dogs!Over all it was a great experience. Friendly and attentive. We received a call after the procedure to tell us Dixie was coming out of anesthesia with no problems. When we picked up Dixie, my 14 yr old daughter, who loves to talk, asked the vet all about first jobs in the field. Dr. Priebe answered all her questions and added advice with the patience of a saint!Will go back for regular care...not to mention...goodies for Dixie after us torturing her. Lol. At least her breath smells good...for 6 more moths or so. Read Less

Took 2 dogs in for their annual vaccinations and heartworm tests. Bill was over 400.00 for the 12month health care plan that they assumed I wanted. This service includes the vaccinations plus 50 percent off their unbelievably inflated prices. When I told them I didn't want the health care plan, but just wanted to pay for the services rendered.....it was the same price!!!! Unbelievable. Plus they try to jam other services down your throat...teeth cleaning, grooming, etc. Horrible. Read Less
