Do not go to these lying bastards!!! I wanted to get my dogs shots updated but he didn’t need a rabies shot since he just got a 3 year rabies shot from his last vet. They actually argued with me trying to convince me that Texas law states that he has to get a rabies shot again even if I did pay for a 3 year shot last year and he didn’t need it!!! I stormed out furious and called my old vet in Florida to find out if this was true and they confirmed what my common sense already knew, they lied to me and were just trying to sell me something my dog didn’t need!! I then called Border Animal Hospital and they also confirmed that Weslaco Animal Hospital lies to me and thought they could take advantage of me with this lie about Texas law and threatening that I would get in trouble if I didn’t get the shot! Pffft!! I went to Border Animal Hospital and had a great experience and their prices were cheaper as well! And they didn’t try to lie or rob me with scare tactics and idle threats. Do not trust Weslaco Animal Hospital with your beloved pet!!! Go to Border Animal Hospital where you and your pet will be treated with the dignity and respect you both deserve!!! Read Less

We tried to take our sick cat here only to be turned away. We will never try to go back, sure don’t need another dose of poor service. Thank God for Rio Rico vet in Mercedes who treated our baby right away. Thumbs down to this place!! All our baby needed was a shot and med drops for a sore tongue. Imagine a real emergency!!! This place says that they close at 6 pm. I got there at 5:25 and they told me they stop seeing pets at 5 pm.. there weren't any other ppl or pets there but yet they wouldn't see my pet. I don't understand why they would just be sitting there at the reception office for an entire hour til they close. I always take my pets here. Well not anymore. Don't bother taking your pets here. We brought our dog Sahsha in to get her rabies vaccine on a Saturday morning. The office closes at 11AM, but Ray was more than willing to accommodate us for this service when we showed up at 10:50AM. He was very kind and made sure everything was done in a timely manner. I highly recommend coming to Westgate for all your canine services! Read Less

Bought a 8 week old lab puppy from a supposedly "trusted" seller in Weslaco and her being my first puppy I had no idea what to look out for. Well she was infested with fleas, worms and had a horrible stomach virus called coccidia. This innocent puppy was suffering so much and no one could seem to tell me what was wrong with her. Then I heard from a friend about Dr.Ruiz and right away I took my puppy to her and they diagnosed everything and put her on strict treatments. After about a month of meds and many visits later, my puppy was given a clean bill of health! Dr. Ruiz and her staff were so amazing and so supportive of my puppy and I, I truly can't thank them enough. They helped guide me through everything from the type of diet she would need to the type of shampoo that would suit her best. They are so helpful and so kind. I'm never changing doctors, ever. I had called to get my puppies seen today in the morning and was told to bring them in after 2:30. But the incompetent receptionist could have told me they would not be able to be seen . Instead of having me drive there to be refused. Mind you ,there was no other clients to deal with. But since my pups were a bit sick. They refused them. After being turned away I was told that I was being talked about and how I cared for my dogs. Not knowing the lady who walked in after I left was my neighbor and Good friend. I've been leaving my pets health in good hands over the years w/ dr. Ruiz & she has a heart the size of the moon . She loves what she does & she does it well ! Im pretty sure the ppl leaving bad reviews are the ppl who have never actually been to the clinic or met the vet herself . The breeder obviously failed to take note of the the difficulties/consequences of breeding an English bulldog to begin with. If he was a true "animal lover" he wouldn't be trying to make money by selling puppies like hotcakes.Read Less

Weslaco Animal Clinic is a great place and Dr. Ruiz is a wonderful caring professional. Mr. Nava, why didn't you take your puppy back to the vet who delivered it? And why wait to get help when it was practically dead and then blame the nearest vet? The puppy was your responsibility, not theirs. Read Less

DO NOT COME TO THIS PLACE!!!I had a very unfortunate event happen and they were unwilling to help. I had a 2 day old puppy having trouble breathing so I rushed to the nearest vet and being that I live down the street from this place, I arrived there first, this was at about 6:30 pm, I run in and tell them of my emergency and the clerk tells me, "I'm sorry but we're already closed' in a very careless attitude, and I insisted, her reaction was a huff "Ughhh... let me ask" and very slowly and in an annoyed manner got up, the vet tech (husband to the actual vet) comes to the front and very rudely says "we're closed, I also have another emergency right now" with a look in his face of leave, we're not gonna look at her and had an adult schnauzer in his arm that looked like he could of spared 5 mins to try to save my puppy.Please do not support places like this, where they don't truly love animals and only do it for the money. Though I haven't actually been here, I have called twice to set up an appointment and both times the man who answers the phone has been so rude! In fact, I just called  and said, "Hi, I'd like to set up an appointment." To which the man responds, "ummm you're going to have to call back after two cuz we're out to lunch." Why even answer during lunch?! Also, if you're a small business trying to grow, customer service is so important to the success of your company.  How hard would it be to say, "Okay ma'am we are not at the office but I will gladly call you back when we return."  I was so excited about a new vet clinic in Weslaco, but I simply cannot stand such poor customer service.  After two failed attempts at setting up an appointment, I will continue to take my pets to Border Animal Hospital.
