We moved here in December and by June I had put this clinic through its paces. We had animals that have been around for 14 years and those which were purchased quickly after we made the move to Wimberley. The girls upfront managed to get our records from previous a previous quickly so we could move forward with my geriatric Ollie. Everyone was sympathetic a gentle to her delicate declining state and when it was time for her to go they honored my wishes with great compassion. Health check ups came with suggestions of vaccines, recommendations as necessary and education on those that she did not need at this time.
And emergency visit came at the crack of dawn when one of my horses decided to toy with my 8 pound little dog so I rushed her to their doorstep in tears. There’s no way to describe how much it meant to me that they took her directly to the back and immediately addressed her situation and made sure that she was stable. The vet came back out quickly with an initial assessment and we discussed options moving forward. The vet was considerate and compassionate about the fact that I was so shook up after witnessing such a terrible incident.
NEXT, within just 5 months, 2 horses took injury at dawn, one was serious and needed to be seen at my house immediately. The staff explained that the vet had already headed towards another car and he would come to our place when he finished there. Very quickly after I received a call directly from the vet asking and verifying fax regarding the injury and made the decision that we needed to be seen first. He then called the other party and made sure that the first patient could postpone briefly, then he came our way. Once here he reviewed injuries of each animal then went to work on the more severe. It was a long hard difficult injury to manage (in terribly hot conditions) and quiet frankly I don’t know how he did it but my horse and his leg/hoof injury have been treated by the best I could ever have asked for. We took both horses to the clinic where they stayed for some time and the staff loved them to pieces.
On top of all of this and the guilt that comes with owning animals and their getting injured the doc even told me a few weeks later that one of his own animals had suffered an injury and that it happens to everyone no matter how hard we try to keep them safe. That one reassurance meant so much to me!
The bill- the big scary bill! I will tell you, yes it cost but quiet frankly i would expect no less than what it was. They even have a program where you earn credit or points that helps in saving some bucks too.
I never thought I would find another vet that I trusted as much as the one that I went to for the last 15 years but I have and it includes the entire Wimberley veterinary clinic.

I know I may be biased, because I work here and have so for over 8 years, but Dr Sheffield, Dr Ferguson, and Dr de Vries all truely care, and makes it a pretty amazing place to work. Being in Wimberley is only plus, with it being a small town, we definitely get to build relationships with our clients. Dr Sheffield and Tracy are amazing boses and treat their employees well. I hope my review gave some insight, but if any of you who read this have questions before setting an appointment, please give us a call!

FAR exceeded my expectations. I see now why this clinic is so busy! If there were six stars, I would’ve given them. Dr. Ferguson is VERY patient and accommodating. She was willing to see me between her other appointments when my cat was having a crisis. She returns calls promptly and spends TIME with me and my kitty; in addition, she is very friendly, approachable, understanding, professional, and yet honest and knowledgeable. Dr. Sheffield has been caring for and boarding family cats and dogs for more than two decades. Staff members are competent, friendly and helpful. On her first stay, my anxious, newly-adopted German Shepherd was accommodated in a quiet kennel up front where she could see people.
Mike and his wife Tracy, the practice manager, generously accommodated her anxious running-late person recently by checking in Phoenix after-hours. I was happily able to join my family in Wimberley for Easter weekend.

We moved our horses down from New Mexico in November of 2016. We had a wonderful vet there, who saved my older horses life and my younger horses life on two different occasions if not more when the young one would colic. We were worried we wouldn't be able to find a vet as good as our Dr. Bobbitt. We met Dr. Sheffield for the first time a week back. He came and examined our horses. He was so thorough, knowledgeable, and the most caring vet we've seen in a long time! We know now that our horses are in great hands. We will continue to learn much from him. I watched him work with Max, our older horses, and he got Max to do things no one ever has in an exam. Captain seemed to like him to and did everything the vet asked of him, even allowing him to pull his tongue to the side so he could really check his teeth! Dr. Sheffield remembered my stating he wasn't taking the bit, and he wanted to make sure he didn't have a tooth issue. We can't say enough good things about the experience. We are looking forward to a long relationship with Dr. Sheffield and learning so much more. The office staff are responsive, to everyone there it's been an amazing experience!!!

Every time I visit Wimberley Vet Clinic, whether it be for medical attention or for boarding, I am greeted by name as well as my pets. I feel like I am part of their family, which leaves me with confidence that my dogs will be taken care of and will be happy and safe. They are in contact with me at a moments notice if they have a question regarding my dogs' wellness. I love being able to count on them when I am not able to take them with me on trips. Both Dr. Sheffield and Dr. Ferguson are the best!!

I love the atmosphere here. You can really tell that the people who work here love the pets and know what they are doing-two very important things to me. I like that I can talk about my options with them, and they are mindful too about treatments we do. I tell them to advise me before adding on any treatments and they do. I don't have to stress that they will pile on a $50 dog bath when I don't ask for it. They even will say that if I need an alternative for cost effectiveness to use this spay service, etc. We have comfortable communication, which is really important for me to trust them with my babies. I support them as much as I support NPR, which is an awful lot.

Just a couple of tourists driving through town. Stopped here and asked where the dog friendly spots were. The people that work here are unlike anything I have ever seen. They are amazing. They told us where to go and they even printed us a map to a local vineyard that was dog friendly. We came back the next day to board our little pup while we went swimming in the blue hole and they were glad to have him for the whole day for a very low price.

Dr. Sheffield is an amazing vet! He is so talented and works on almost any animal! I had a very ill bunny who needed veterinary care every month and Dr. Sheffield graciously took amazing care of him and would do anything to be sure my bunny went home comfortably. I have brought my new bunnies to him and my new puppy! I refuse to go anywhere else even though I live in Austin. Wimberley veterinary clinic is also very competitively priced and has a great boarding program as well. I highly recommend them!

I have lived in Wimberley since 1991 and Mike has always taken care of my dogs and cats. He is the best and most caring vet I've known and I have had pets for a very long time. As a matter of fact, we got our last dog, a foundling, from Dr. Sheffield and I'm about to put him at the clinic for boarding for a few days while my wife and I take a short trip. He is a VIP in our lives but we know he will be well cared for by very caring people. Many thanks to the Sheffields and their wonderful staff.

I took my Baby Revilo into Dr. Sheffield's office and I must admit I was scared because all I knew was that something was not right with him and he was in pain. His skin was so messed up & I was a wreck. We had to muzzle my baby because he did not want anyone touching him but me. The nurses came in and I explained to them what had been going on and they were so understanding and caring & even offered to help but I reassured them that we were gonna be fine & that God had us. Dr. Sheffield came right on in and examined my baby and directly signaled in on what was wrong. Revilo calmed down a bit after and he was taken to the back for treatment. Dr. Sheffield came right on in and gave me the treatment plan & I just told him to do what was needed & when they came back with Revilo & the nurse was holding him. I knew he had gone back to normal. He was walking around the office like my normal baby. We made it home , I gave him his meds and it's been all smiles since. Could not have asked for more in care for my baby...These guys are awesome.

The front desk service people are very helpful and knowledgeable. When Libbey is ready for her first Wimberley checkup, it will be with WVC. My dog Sonny is a 15 month old Samoyed. He has been coming to Dr. Sheffield since we got him at 3 months. I have used many Veterinarian's in my life with animals and hands down they are the best. I wouldn't think of bringing Sonny anywhere but here. Sonny was in his first dog show in Austin last week and got 3 ribbons. A great vet and great training make a great champion!

I don't normally like taking time to write reviews, but after a recent scary experience with my cat I really wanted to make a mention to this business!Consistency, Caring, knowledgeable, prompt and friendly are only a few of the words that describe this clinic! I could go on but basically I would highly recommend Dr. Mike Sheffield and his staff for their outstanding service that they have provided for my cats. Claude (Maine Coon cat mix) had an intestinal obstruction which would have no doubtably killed him if it weren't for their very quick diagnosis and insistence that we move quickly with surgery and not mess around with a wait and see. This all transpired over a weekend and required 3 days of post op care. After I brought Claude home the clinic followed up with me daily for a week to make sure his recovery was moving along smoothly. He is back to his old self and eating with no problems! I have had various other health issues with my other cats over the past few years and every time I needed their service I was always satisfied with the results. Their fees are also very reasonable compared to other clinics I have heard of from my other pet owner friends from around the Austin area and elsewhere. My niece in Austin went through the same surgery with her cat and ended up with a bill costing her twice what I paid. I have never felt their fees were unreasonable and believe me when I say that I'm not flushed with cash! Thank you Dr. Sheffield and your team for the outstanding service you have provided for my cats. PS: I also like how your website makes it easy to set appointments and the follow through your office makes to remind me of up coming appointments.

He see's his job as a privilege - and we were privileged to have his caring hands take care of Sam (our beloved dog) for 15 wonderful years.\n\nPure and simple, he's a great guy and a great vet.

He is always happy and friendly, and it feels more like going to visit a friend than going to the vet. He cares deeply about both the patients and their owners, and most of all, he knows his stuff. On top of all of this and the guilt that comes with owning animals and their getting injured the doc even told me a few weeks later that one of his own animals had suffered an injury and that it happens to everyone no matter how hard we try to keep them safe. That one reassurance meant so much to me!
The bill- the big scary bill! I will tell you, yes it cost but quiet frankly i would expect no less than what it was. They even have a program where you earn credit or points that helps in saving some bucks too.
I never thought I would find another vet that I trusted as much as the one that I went to for the last 15 years but I have and it includes the entire Wimberley veterinary clinic.

I know I may be biased, because I work here and have so for over 8 years, but Dr Sheffield, Dr Ferguson, and Dr de Vries all truely care, and makes it a pretty amazing place to work. Being in Wimberley is only plus, with it being a small town, we definitely get to build relationships with our clients. Dr Sheffield and Tracy are amazing boses and treat their employees well. FAR exceeded my expectations. I see now why this clinic is so busy! If there were six stars, I would’ve given them. Dr. Ferguson is VERY patient and accommodating. She was willing to see me between her other appointments when my cat was having a crisis. She returns calls promptly and spends TIME with me and my kitty; in addition, she is very friendly, approachable, understanding, professional, and yet honest and knowledgeable. Dr. Sheffield has been caring for and boarding family cats and dogs for more than two decades. Staff members are competent, friendly and helpful. On her first stay, my anxious, newly-adopted German Shepherd was accommodated in a quiet kennel up front where she could see people.
Mike and his wife Tracy, the practice manager, generously accommodated her anxious running-late person recently by checking in Phoenix after-hours. I was happily able to join my family in Wimberley for Easter weekend.

We moved our horses down from New Mexico in November of 2016. We had a wonderful vet there, who saved my older horses life and my younger horses life on two different occasions if not more when the young one would colic. We were worried we wouldn't be able to find a vet as good as our Dr. Bobbitt. We met Dr. Sheffield for the first time a week back. He came and examined our horses. He was so thorough, knowledgeable, and the most caring vet we've seen in a long time! We know now that our horses are in great hands. We will continue to learn much from him. I watched him work with Max, our older horses, and he got Max to do things no one ever has in an exam. Captain seemed to like him to and did everything the vet asked of him, even allowing him to pull his tongue to the side so he could really check his teeth! Dr. Sheffield remembered my stating he wasn't taking the bit, and he wanted to make sure he didn't have a tooth issue. We can't say enough good things about the experience. We are looking forward to a long relationship with Dr. Sheffield and learning so much more. The office staff are responsive, to everyone there it's been an amazing experience!!!

Every time I visit Wimberley Vet Clinic, whether it be for medical attention or for boarding, I am greeted by name as well as my pets. I feel like I am part of their family, which leaves me with confidence that my dogs will be taken care of and will be happy and safe. They are in contact with me at a moments notice if they have a question regarding my dogs' wellness. I love being able to count on them when I am not able to take them with me on trips. Both Dr. Sheffield and Dr. Ferguson are the best!!

I love the atmosphere here. You can really tell that the people who work here love the pets and know what they are doing-two very important things to me. I like that I can talk about my options with them, and they are mindful too about treatments we do. I tell them to advise me before adding on any treatments and they do. I don't have to stress that they will pile on a $50 dog bath when I don't ask for it. They even will say that if I need an alternative for cost effectiveness to use this spay service, etc. We have comfortable communication, which is really important for me to trust them with my babies. I support them as much as I support NPR, which is an awful lot.

Just a couple of tourists driving through town. Stopped here and asked where the dog friendly spots were. The people that work here are unlike anything I have ever seen. They are amazing. They told us where to go and they even printed us a map to a local vineyard that was dog friendly. We came back the next day to board our little pup while we went swimming in the blue hole and they were glad to have him for the whole day for a very low price.

I had a very ill bunny who needed veterinary care every month and Dr. Sheffield graciously took amazing care of him and would do anything to be sure my bunny went home comfortably. I have brought my new bunnies to him and my new puppy! I refuse to go anywhere else even though I live in Austin. Wimberley veterinary clinic is also very competitively priced and has a great boarding program as well. I highly recommend them!

I have lived in Wimberley since 1991 and Mike has always taken care of my dogs and cats. He is the best and most caring vet I've known and I have had pets for a very long time. As a matter of fact, we got our last dog, a foundling, from Dr. Sheffield and I'm about to put him at the clinic for boarding for a few days while my wife and I take a short trip. He is a VIP in our lives but we know he will be well cared for by very caring people. Many thanks to the Sheffields and their wonderful staff.

I took my Baby Revilo into Dr. Sheffield's office and I must admit I was scared because all I knew was that something was not right with him and he was in pain. His skin was so messed up & I was a wreck. We had to muzzle my baby because he did not want anyone touching him but me. The nurses came in and I explained to them what had been going on and they were so understanding and caring & even offered to help but I reassured them that we were gonna be fine & that God had us. Dr. Sheffield came right on in and examined my baby and directly signaled in on what was wrong. Revilo calmed down a bit after and he was taken to the back for treatment. Dr. Sheffield came right on in and gave me the treatment plan & I just told him to do what was needed & when they came back with Revilo & the nurse was holding him. I knew he had gone back to normal. He was walking around the office like my normal baby. We made it home , I gave him his meds and it's been all smiles since. Could not have asked for more in care for my baby...These guys are awesome.

The front desk service people are very helpful and knowledgeable. When Libbey is ready for her first Wimberley checkup, it will be with WVC. My dog Sonny is a 15 month old Samoyed. He has been coming to Dr. Sheffield since we got him at 3 months. I have used many Veterinarian's in my life with animals and hands down they are the best. I wouldn't think of bringing Sonny anywhere but here. Sonny was in his first dog show in Austin last week and got 3 ribbons. A great vet and great training make a great champion!

I don't normally like taking time to write reviews, but after a recent scary experience with my cat I really wanted to make a mention to this business!Consistency, Caring, knowledgeable, prompt and friendly are only a few of the words that describe this clinic! I could go on but basically I would highly recommend Dr. Mike Sheffield and his staff for their outstanding service that they have provided for my cats. Claude (Maine Coon cat mix) had an intestinal obstruction which would have no doubtably killed him if it weren't for their very quick diagnosis and insistence that we move quickly with surgery and not mess around with a wait and see. This all transpired over a weekend and required 3 days of post op care. After I brought Claude home the clinic followed up with me daily for a week to make sure his recovery was moving along smoothly. He is back to his old self and eating with no problems! I have had various other health issues with my other cats over the past few years and every time I needed their service I was always satisfied with the results. Their fees are also very reasonable compared to other clinics I have heard of from my other pet owner friends from around the Austin area and elsewhere. My niece in Austin went through the same surgery with her cat and ended up with a bill costing her twice what I paid. I have never felt their fees were unreasonable and believe me when I say that I'm not flushed with cash! Thank you Dr. Sheffield and your team for the outstanding service you have provided for my cats. PS: I also like how your website makes it easy to set appointments and the follow through your office makes to remind me of up coming appointments.
