This place is a joke!! We took are puppy in that got hurt and they gave her a couple injections for pain and an antibiotic. When we took her home she was breathing funny so we took her back to make sure she was ok and they had the audacity to charge us again. Will NEVER!! go there again it ever recommend this place to anyone! I would absolutely never go back to this place or recommend them to anyone. I would actually tell you you're better off going somewhere else. I took my pup in after an accident (my fault 😔) where the little girl was hurt. The vet gave her some pain meds and shortly after I got her home I noticed she was breathing funny, I was very worried so I called and they said it's not normal and I should bring her right back in. Never in a million years did I think they would charge me again. Sure enough they did. And when I brought it up to them they said well I'll go talk to the doctor. When they came back he said that they should have charged me for an emergency visit but they gave me a deal and gave me the recheck price. My regular vet would have never made me pay again. (I was out of town that's why I took her there) As I'm writing this he just called me, did not try to make me feel better but what he was concerned about was trying to convince me that charging me again was the right thing to do. Friendly and helpful reception staff, kind vet techs and knowledgeable doctor. I called mid morning concerned with my miniature dachsund Juliet. They were able to get me in for a same-day appointment to see her. Dr. Rivera answered all of my questions and was able to quickly diagnose my pup, perscribing a few meds to help her. Based off of the completely unprofessional reaponses from whoever comments on people’s reviews from the clinic, I would never consider going to this place. We took our dog Lulu to get a check up and vaccinations, the doctor is a fraud, wanted me to spend 600$ to find "kidney stones.." the vets and doctors laughed as they were giving us a quota, and literally were smiling and laughing when they said "she has stones.." even though kidney stones are more painful than giving birth, she wouldn't be able to walk if she actually had them. DO NOT GO HERE.. the doctor is a total fraud, just wanting to make money. If you want to be worried sick about your dog for no good reason then go here.. but anyone in the right mind knows when the dog actually has a serious problem they act sincerely and without laughing and smerking at you when they offer you a 700$ quota. I had an awful experience at this clinic. I have been afraid to leave a response due to the responses to other reviewers for awhile. I ended up taking my dog to another clinic and have had great experiences with them. I was met by the least compassionate people I have ever seen at an animal clinic. I typically believe when you pay more you receive a better quality, but I didn’t feel like it here. I was not a fan that they have you get your dogs nails clipped without you there. The nurse in the room was helpful and sat down with you and talked about what she thought would be beneficial for my budget and my dog. Everyone in general was super helpful and kind. My husband and I recently adopted two kittens. When we brought them home, one was extremely ill. We took her to Utah Veterinary Hospital and they treated her for the myriad of illnesses she had. Within a couple of days of bringing her in, she was doing so much better. I am grateful they were able to help my sweet kitty to get better so quickly. That being said, I do not plan on going back to Utah Veterinary Hospital. I was incredibly unimpressed with the staff. We were the last appointment of the day when we came in last week. The staff seemed irritated, like they just wanted to leave, and it felt like we were an annoyance. In addition, they seemed irritated with and unwilling to answer our questions. This is our first time having cat and the one was very, very ill. Naturally, we had various questions because we wanted to help our sick kitty. She was prescribed multiple medications. The directions for which were not explained to us. Our questions regarding these medications were also met with minimal response and with irritation. Everyone was just in a hurry to leave. Also, while we were at the clinic, we asked about cutting my kitty's nails. We decided against getting her nails clipped, though. However, when we got home, we examined the copy of the invoice they had given us and found they had, in fact, charged us for a nail trim that was not done. My husband called about this discrepancy and was told by the receptionist that she would talk to her office manager. We haven't heard back and it's been several days. I am grateful they were able to treat my sick cat and help her get better. But I'm very displeased with the staff and the overall customer service we experienced. I took my 9 year old cat there for the first time. I used to take her to another place but wanted a Dr. who would be able to care for her thru her life span. As it turns out that life span may not be much longer. I took the news very badly but the Dr. was so compassionate & caring ---put his arm around me & let me cry. With his help we may have her for a few more years but when the time comes to give her up I know he'll be there to help in a loving way. Read Less

Love this place! The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly! They did an amazing job helping my cat get well. I really liked that they suggested the route of breaking up the hairballs with medicine before running a bunch of tests. That is a sign of a place that is focused on putting the animal and their owner(s) first. Other places I have been to in the past want to get every penny they possibly can out of you. I came in to have my puppies dewclaws removed. I asked if I should bring the mother of the puppies and was told yes. I sat in the waiting room for a over a half hour with puppies and an anxious puppy mother, while multiple dogs came in and out. I asked several times if I could be placed in a room so my dog could feed her puppies, but was told that there were no clean rooms and that they were running behind. Once I was placed in the room, I put a blanket down so the crying puppies could eat. One had already thrown up (this made me quite worried that maybe the stress and time away from mom was too long). I asked if the vet would be doing the procedure in the room. I was told "maybe" and then a firm no..."the mother dog could get aggressive". I was told I could maybe go in the back with the puppies...and then I was told no. The tech kept leaving and coming into the room with different answers. I was stressed and frustrated. After being there an hour, without the chance to ever speak to the vet (I kept being told that he was with another animal), I decided to leave. I called my regular vet (who I originally chose not to visit because he is located in Sandy), and got an appointment. The situation did not get any better when I told them I would be leaving. I left feeling like my actions and ethics as a dog owner were being questioned. It was a very unfortunate interaction. My situation and dealings with this clinic have been far from ideal. Their customer service and business practices have convinced me to take my business back to my original vet, who is farther away but does an outstanding job. I highly advise those looking for vet services to look elsewhere. Read Less

I took my rescue dog in for a nail trim, I explained she is more comfortable having me with her but they wouldn't let me go. I heard her crying then shortly before she came out I heard a loud yelp. After she came out she was bleeding; not only did they cut the nail too short they also cut her pad. It took over 7 hours for me to stop the bleeding, it only stopped after I wrapped her paw like a cast. During that time she left pools of blood everywhere she walked; I had blood all over my car and my house. This was supposed to be a simple nail trim and it turned into a tramatic event for my already skiddish rescue. Read Less

Dr Rivera and his staff are not only experts in their field but they have an excellent bedside manner. They determined that our dog had a very high fever and worked to help bring it down quickly. Dr Rivera's careful evaluation and precise instructions helped return our dog to his normal, playful self within a few days. My 9-week old puppy was taken to Dr. Samuel Rivera for diarrhea (pictures and sample of stool). He performed tests and prescribed medication (approx $300.00) The medication did not help at all, over a week. My puppy kept getting sicker. With a call to their office, I was told to wait a little longer. Long story short, upon discussing the problem with the breeder of my puppy, she and I took him to her Vet. They also ran tests. It took just one pill and the problem was solved within 24 hours. I told Dr. Rivera on my second visit what medication cleared up his diarrhea and once again showed him the same picture of the puppy's previous diarrhea. Dr. Rivera just made several excuses to me!!!My breeder showed concern, suggested a diet and had the medical problem resolved. Her Vet in Sandy Utah did not even charge fees for the tests, except for the one pill. I have not gone back to UVH. I have other concerns with the Utah Veterinary Hospital and the staff that I will not elaborate on here. In my humble opinion as their recent client, I would not waste your time, money, efforts and health for your beloved pets at this practice. This place is amazing! The vet is very up do date on everything! He is very knowledgeable and explains everything in a way that I can understand! The staff is very kind and loving! The vet truly cares about my pet! I will never go anywhere else! When my dog got a dental done here, they cuddled him when he was scared! Once again this vet and staff has proven to me there are compassionate people in this world. After loosing our cat last year it was extremely hard to get past that event and move on with new kittens. Now we have new kitties and one has been sick a couple times and they have been there through it all. This is by far the best vet I've been to and will continue to bring my animals here. I have been there once and i will not come back to this hospital.. there are other better hospitals.1)  They gave sample of Diagel diarrhea control gel.  i was supposed to send my feedback on how the stool has improved over certain time and i said that i will send it online when i was still at the hospital.   I  did the paper survey and sent it via messenger and updated or responded on the manufacturer's website.   Utah vet hospital said i should 'personally' send the paper survey on that certain day on monday (and not  on a later day).    I ended up paying $15 for  a supposedly 'free' sample.2)  i paid $221 for my dog's problem...  without the Dr veterinarian showing his face.. our dog was attended by assistant staff.. the staffs are wonderful and really care about our dog but i would have  appreciated seeing or at least meeting the vet. Called about some simple questions. This place was completely incapable of giving a straight answer. Shady.... I would keep looking for another vet. Also after the owners response I am so glad we did not cross paths, it's obvious I am right about my decision to look elsewhere. No services were done here.... or even considered to be done here because simple questions about vaccinations and deworming could not be answered. I am entitled to my opinion based on my experience. This staff and Dr are very honest with you and let you know everything up front. I had a dog get bitten by a dog around the same time as he was going to get neutered. Dr. Rivera let me know the costs and said he could take care of it all at once for a discounted price if i would so it all that same day! The staff was so willing to work with me the same day I came in they offered me a package deal. They offer great packages for new puppies and quality care packages for older animals I would highly recommend this place over any other local vet clinic. Read Less

I called to get pricing info and not only did they answer all my questions (and I was pleased with their very reasonable prices!), but they managed to fit me in the schedule the same day. I was super impressed by the caring staff and the clean facility. Dr Sam was super nice and our tech, Kendall, was knowledgable and helpful. Took my dog in on a Saturday morning for a clogged gland. Vet said it was going to cost $200-$300 for a necessary surgery. He let me know he can't do the surgery until Monday. He also let me know that the gland would likely burst over the weekend, but this would not reduce the cost or need for the surgery. He then printed out a bill for nearly $200 which was for the initial visit plus meds for the surgery. I asked if that reduces my costs on Monday and he said no. That didn't make sense. Then he handed me the estimate for Monday's surgery and it totaled nearly $600 instead of $200-$300. He said that's because my dog was over 5 yrs old so they charge more. I asked what they charge for shots and they gave me an estimate of nearly $100. Since this went from a $200- $300 surgery to almost $900 for everything, I opted for a second opinion. Took my dog to Animal Crackers in West Jordan. They said surgery wasn't necessary, cleaned and dressed the gland (which did indeed burst over night), gave us all the necessary meds, AND did the shots for us. Grand total= $120. I think the staff and the Dr. are very kind and helpful. They all seemed to care about the well being of my sweet cat and took very good care of her whenever I would bring her in! Unfortunately, I am a little disappointed with the how many tests we did that didn't show any results and all the medications I bought for her, spending about 300 dollars total for 3 visits and being told we may need to bring in an ultra sound tech and take a sample of her intestines which would be about 500+. It was adding up quick and with no results I was getting more and more worried for my poor girl. On a Saturday night she wasn't doing well, I took her to an urgent care in Orem. With no tests or anything done at this facility, just a simple exam done and telling the vet my cats symptoms.. I ended up being told by the vet that all that needed to be done was a simple diet change, and it worked. She is doing much better. These people are very friendly at this location but I am very disappointed with the fact that these tests were done and a lot of money in medication spent to have it only be a change of diet.Read Less
