I trust these people to the "inth" degree. They are professional, pleasant, and on the ball in every way. You will not be let down. The love of the horse is still their main concern. As older clinics / vets get tired and jaded, this clinic still cares. They treat you with respect, and each case is handled with top concern. I have been in horses since 1966. This clinic is at the top of all of my experiences.

I was in the process of buying a horse and wanted some reassurance that the horse was of sound health. Scheduling the appointment was easy and the support staff was very professional and kind. Dr. Blaire came to the stables for a "pre-purchase" health exam, and spring vaccinations/worming. Her examination was very thorough inside and out, front and back, and all around the horse, so that she could determine a baseline and risk potentials on him. I was very impressed at how Dr. Blare and her help worked around the horse; checking tendons, joints, bones and muscle, eyes, mouth, etc. The health inspection took them about an hour and half from the time they arrived and finish. Their pricing was reasonable, and reports of the inspection are detailed and informative. I went ahead and purchased the horse knowing there was minor health risk.
Another well known clinic:
A month later I decided to purchase another horse, so that I would have two. I used a different, but well known clinic nearby for the same type of baseline health inspection. The veterinarian who came out was friendly enough, but his inspection with vaccinations/worming took not more than 15 minutes, they were 30 minutes late on arrival, and did not do the quality type of inspection on the Horse, nor follow-up with any written reports. He did not check hooves, tendons, leg bones and muscle at all, and could see that he was just in a rush to go.
When comparing the two companies services, professionalism, pricing and passion for their career of choice, it is obvious that Dr. Blaire and her team are who I will be scheduling for my horses.

Dr Barbour is amazing. He explains things Well and takes time to make sure you understand what's happening with your animal. I haven't had the same experience with the other vets and the office staff can be difficult and unsympathetic to your situation. They have been quick to point out the things that I, as the owner should have done differently. In times of crisis that's not okay or relevant. Once you get through them and talk to Lyle Barbour it is a very different story.

Dr. Barbour is amazing! I've known him for forever. He's always been the most reliable and on top of it vet I've had the pleasure of knowing. He has always been kind enough to call and check on my horses after shots or any type of procedure. And when I was studying to be a large animal vet myself he was always helped me with a questions or took time to explain certain things to me. I recommend him to everyone!! He does the job for the love of the animal I guarantee you that. You won't find a kinder more genuine vet.

After my horse Sunny colicked on Wednesday and no vet would come see her I thought she was going to die. We called South Mountain after hours and the doc drove over an hour to come see her. Her bedside manner is beautiful. She understood my crying on the phone and she was gentle and very kind to me and my horse. She saved Sunny's life when everyone else ignored her or wouldn't even come see her. My horse is alive because of you. I can't even express how grateful I am. I will never use another veterinarian for my horses.

Something really nice happened today. We got a package in the mail. I thought, wierd, I didn't order anything. It wasn't from family. Opening it up it was a notebook from our vet about care for pregnant mares for Caroline's horse. So awesome! I mean really nice. The world today is so empty of client appreciation, customer service seems like it's more a thing of the past. Businesses take your money and often it feels like you're doing them a favor. So this was indeed a nice surprise. They even personalized it specifically for her. Way to go South Mountain Equine!!!!!!!! Love our vet!!!!

Lyle Barbour has been our vet for many years and we really appreciate his stall-side manner. :-) Both Lyle and Dr. Kate have worked on our horses and it is obvious that they really care. When that moment we all dread came (twice in one year), Lyle was there early on a Sunday morning (both times). His compassion made saying good-bye to an old friend a treasured memory.

I manage a boarding facility and recommend SME at every opportunity.
When my mare had an emergency, Dr. Barbour came immediately. ( I'm sure he had other appt's scheduled.) he gave words of encouragement and was very sensitive to my situation. a few days later, I received a sympathy card signed by the entire staff. What a thoughtful gesture. It shows their level of compassion.
Both he and Dr. Kate remember their horsey patients and call to check on their progress. They are always willing to answer my questions and discuss my concerns.
I love that we now have another wonderful option of acupuncture with Dr Kate. What a difference it has made for my mare.
I also greatly appreciate how quietly and calmly they handle my horses.

I use South Mountain Equine (Dr Boubour and Dr Kate Shonfeld) as my vets and they provide the best veterinary care - surpassing all other vets in the state of Utah!! I have used our large animal vet's in the South Jordan and they are not in the same league of medical knowledge as South Mountain. They respond to my pasture and implement kind, compassionate, TLC care to my horses and holding the best skilled knowledge in treating horses and an array of equine medical conditions. Yesterday Dr. Kate Shonfeld and her assistant Skylar (I think she said Skylar) arrived at my pasture with urgency to treat my beloved horse "Slim". They treated me and my horse with such compassion and ruled out every medical treatment to save his life. Unfortunately... my sweet horse was extremely ill and beyond saving. They did everything medically possible to determine if my horse could be saved. Dr Shonfeld determined through thorough procedures that my sweet horse had a ruptured stomach. Slim was put down ysterday. Dr. Shonfeld and Skylar stayed with me and offered such wonderful moral support. I cannot thank them enough. God Bless you both.

Doctor Kate came out and saw my horse today. She had emergencies in the morning and called me with updates for her arrival time. When there she took great care of my boy and gave me options for what I can do. I will definitely be using her for all my future veterinary needs!!!

They genuinely care about your horses as much as you do and they show this everyday in the way they talk and work with you, and in the amazing care they provide to your fur babies. Something really nice happened today. We got a package in the mail. I thought, wierd, I didn't order anything. It wasn't from family. Opening it up it was a notebook from our vet about care for pregnant mares for Caroline's horse. So awesome! I mean really nice. The world today is so empty of client appreciation, customer service seems like it's more a thing of the past. Businesses take your money and often it feels like you're doing them a favor. So this was indeed a nice surprise. They even personalized it specifically for her. Way to go South Mountain Equine!!!!!!!! Love our vet!!!!

Lyle Barbour has been our vet for many years and we really appreciate his stall-side manner. :-) Both Lyle and Dr. Kate have worked on our horses and it is obvious that they really care. When that moment we all dread came (twice in one year), Lyle was there early on a Sunday morning (both times). His compassion made saying good-bye to an old friend a treasured memory.

I manage a boarding facility and recommend SME at every opportunity.
When my mare had an emergency, Dr. Barbour came immediately. ( I'm sure he had other appt's scheduled.) he gave words of encouragement and was very sensitive to my situation. a few days later, I received a sympathy card signed by the entire staff. What a thoughtful gesture. It shows their level of compassion.
Both he and Dr. Kate remember their horsey patients and call to check on their progress. They are always willing to answer my questions and discuss my concerns.
I love that we now have another wonderful option of acupuncture with Dr Kate. What a difference it has made for my mare.
I also greatly appreciate how quietly and calmly they handle my horses.

I use South Mountain Equine (Dr Boubour and Dr Kate Shonfeld) as my vets and they provide the best veterinary care - surpassing all other vets in the state of Utah!! I have used our large animal vet's in the South Jordan and they are not in the same league of medical knowledge as South Mountain. They respond to my pasture and implement kind, compassionate, TLC care to my horses and holding the best skilled knowledge in treating horses and an array of equine medical conditions. Yesterday Dr. Kate Shonfeld and her assistant Skylar (I think she said Skylar) arrived at my pasture with urgency to treat my beloved horse "Slim". They treated me and my horse with such compassion and ruled out every medical treatment to save his life. Unfortunately... my sweet horse was extremely ill and beyond saving. They did everything medically possible to determine if my horse could be saved. Dr Shonfeld determined through thorough procedures that my sweet horse had a ruptured stomach. Slim was put down ysterday. Dr. Shonfeld and Skylar stayed with me and offered such wonderful moral support. I cannot thank them enough. God Bless you both.
