Took my 2 year old to Dr. Hill. He got me in after hours due to my work schedule. Charged extremely reasonable. He took his time with my baby to figure out what was wrong with him. He answered all my questions that my husband and I had. Told us the down and dirty of the cost of treatment and was very clear on a plan to give my horse the best chance to stay out of surgery. I have two horses, I've been to several vets trying to figure out what is wrong. I will never go to anyone else for my horses besides him. If your in the Ogden, UT or Salt Lake City area its worth the drive to go see him. I couldn't have been happier with the services that they provide and his staff support was wonderful as well! My expensive horses will never see another vet as long as they live. Read Less

My first expirenece with Dr. Jace was an emergency shoe problem. He was able to help my horse very quick and with the most detail I have seen with trimming and showing a horse. He is now the only person to shoe my horse since (Going on three years). I now use him fo so much more! Pain management of an older horse to floating teeth to vaccinations I trust him with it all. This is from personal experience and not heresay. We have been very satisfied with the care Dr. Hill has provided to our horse over the past 10 years. Unless he wasn't the vet on call, he has always promptly answered our phone calls. Also, the 2 or 3 times that we called him on an emergency basis, he arrived to the barn within minutes. One of those times was when our horse had colic for the first time in his life. It was dealt with successfully. And most recently thank goodness he was able to make a quick diagnosis regarding the problem our horse was experiencing. He saved his life! This was due, in part, to his many years of experience and knowledge. We have never had the experience where he ""wanted to be paid right then and there and that's all he was concerned with"". NEVER! I don't think he charges anymore than any other vet. We had to have another on-call vet come one time and his bill was a little more than what Dr. Hill would have charged. The most recent bill I received was 1/3 of what I thought it was going to be (surgery, overnight stays, etc). We always have lots of questions for him and he takes the time to educate us. Read Less

I have realized there are many vets out there that truly care for your animal not your money. I have spent several thousands of dollars with great veterinarians and I have received great care. I have used Dr. Hill in the past and what I have found and heard over the years being in the barrel racing industry is that he is not a trusted vet and that many great and valuable horses have passed away in his care. I just recently witnessed a horse pass away in Dr. Hills care, he was quick to diagnose and took their money and sent them on their way for the horse to pass away in severe pain and suffering:( I would like to address that if you board or own a great facility and or barn he will give your animal more attention and care. Please understand that I only write this to make all of you that value your horse to be extremely cautious in choosing Dr. Hill to care for your horses. I know that there are vets that will take extreme measures and go to great lengths for your animal and the vet will have compassion for your horses, I'm grateful that I have a vet that does just that for all my horses. If you truly value your horse and or performance horses I would choose another vet. I have spoken to several people over the years that have had bad experiences with Dr. Hill and the horses have suffered in his care. The horse that I had to witness pass away in severe pain was diagnosed by another vet but at this point it was to late and this vet did tell us that Dr. Hill should have done more and the horse would still be alive. Please Please make an educated decision as to what vet you choose. Read Less

Go to South Valley Vets, as a former client of Kayscreek should have done, when advised by Dr. Hill the night they took their horse to him, and their beautiful horse might still be alive. All Hill did for the horse was give it a muscle relaxer and a sedative and sent it home to die or gave the owners the option to put the horse down right then. Hill never inquired as to what may have caused the colic...a change in feed or recent worming...after his short exam with a stethiscope Hill concluded the horse had a twisted bowel and was going to die...How cold was that to someone who trusted Hill to help their horse. No tube was put down into the stomach, no oil was administered, no palpation was done to try and move a blockage along. It was unbelievable to me that Hill did nothing beyond a couple of injections, listened to the horses intestinal sounds and concluded the horse had a twisted or kinked intestine. My question, Dave, is WHY didn't you do everything you know how to do for this horse to save it's life? Is it not normal procedure to oil and palpate if there is a blockage or spasmadic colic? I'm so sorry for the emotional distress the owners of the horse had to endure while they watched this beautiful horse, they had loved and cared for, for over 10 years, die a horrible, painful death. He gives practical, down-to-earth advice and though his prices may be a bit high I can always trust his judgments to be in my best financial interests. He does not jump on the most recent ""hottest cure"" bandwagon. He dispenses inexpensive, research-based and trusted applications. I llike Dr Hill's easy, no-fuss manner.
