We had to put our beloved dog Haggard down. It was a sad experience but the staff here made it as bearable as possible. They were super nice and provided snacks for him and let is take our time saying goodbye. They were sensitive and answered all of our questions. Read Less

I've had a few issues with some of the vet techs there. But every one is so nice and welcoming, havent really jad a bad experience there. When the Dr had to give my dog shots and they freaked out they were calm and understanding onstead of getting mad which I loved. I don't think I'll take my dogs anywhere else. The staff was friendly at first but my dogs surgery was botched I feel. Her intestines fell out after a routine spay surgery. They said she didnt need a cone when she obviously did. They didn't offer to reimburse our emergency vet trip, they just followed up to make sure she was okay which is definitely not enough. They didn't even offer a free check up. If my dog needs any other medical attention I don't feel confident bringing her back here. She came back home way too soon after the spay in pain and wet. They also charged us an extra $50 because apparently my dog was in heat and I honestly don't believe that. It seems like they made that up to milk us for extra money. I've taken her home from other surgeries since and she was in much better shape. Won't be taking any of my animals back here again. I was hoping to build a long lasting professional relationship with my vet but I guess we will be going elsewhere. Read Less

They are kind and caring and gentle. The facility is immaculate and smells so much better than any other vet facility I have ever been to. The service was good but be prepared to pay a huge chunk of change for it. They through in a lot of hidden fees and then threaten you if you don’t pay them. They told us we would be sent to collections and then told us they don’t recommend us coming back here anymore. So if you need an honest vet who has the best interest in your animals life and your personal life, this isn’t the place for you. It’s all about the money to them. Read Less

This place use to be a great place to take pets. They use to act like they really cared. They use to not make it seem all about the money they didn't try to up sell you on unnecessary things. Unfortunately that is not the case any more they now are just like PetSmart vets office. Very expressive. They also use to be good at communicating call to give up dates also getting back to you if you have questions and unfortunately that is not longer the case. We are now looking into other vets. They are a great place for your pet, I feel they really care for your pet. Our cat had an infection and the Dr. was great with her and helped pretty quick. I do think they are over priced, they told us one price on the phone for a visit and then when it came time to pay the visit price alone was more then what they told us. They have little stupid fees for everything and I find that rediculous. However they are the best in the area from what I found. The care for the animal is great and warming, the pricing needs to be looked at. Read Less

This hospital is the most friendly and loving place to take your pet. I had to take my 19 year old lab to be put sleep the doctor and the nurses were so loving and kind and gave me all the time I needed to spend with him and say my last goodbyes. Today (Nov. 29, 2016) was the first time that I was going to go to this place for our new puppy. We have 2 dogs and 1 cat, one of the dogs we just got a few days ago, and so we were doing the usual. We just moved so our other cat and dog hadn't seen the vet yet, but had recently seen their old one. But, when I went home to let the puppy out, I walked into a bloody murder scene in my kitchen. My oldest dog had ripped out his nail on one of his paws. Of course I was supposed to go in around 5pm today, but I called the Vet to let them know the situation and they worked with me to get in both of them at the same time. As I was on the phone, freaking out as any parent would, they were calm and understanding and as I was cleaning my dog's foot the blood wouldn't stop, so they bumped the time for me to 11:45 (at the time I was calling it was 11:20) talk about fantastic. I was soooo happy they could get me in with no notice. I went in with the puppy and my older dog, and were seen right away. The puppy was healthy and put on Heartguard (as they should be) and they gave me some pain killers and antibiotics for my older dog, and explained what I should be expecting over the next little while with his nail being completely gone. They also let me know that my puppy was doing fine and that his behaviors towards food is perfectly normal, and that he may not eat as much as the recommended amount says on most dog food bags. Over all a great trip. I hope that this keeps being positive as the time goes on. They were very attentive and kept asking if I had further questions. I came completely unprepared, no stool sample for the puppy or his last shot dates, things that I would have had without the emergency, and they worked with me wonderfully. Made sure I was reassured and for sure helped me calm down from a Mom about to cry to a Mom who could manage the rest of the day. So, so far so good, and let's hope it stays that way! Read Less

Pros: The service was great, they really care about the animals. The vet was friendly and knowledgeable and were able to help fix my dogs problems. Cons: They are notorious with up selling, they will perform tests that are not free without telling you of the extra cost. Simple dog vaccines ended up costing close to $300 dollars you the end of the visit. Follow up visit that The vet said would be free ended up being almost $40. All in all If you don't mind getting charged for all kinds of different things and you just want them to fix your animals problem they are really good. I just wish they were so shady and actually told you what they would be billing for before they charge you for all kinds of random upsells. Read Less

We recently adopted a kitten from the shelter, he got really sick within a few days of the adoption. We took him to an after-hours facility on Sunday and they helped by prescribing antibiotics, but he continued to worsen through the week. We are new to the south county area and weren't sure where to go... We read reviews and feel very fortunate we decided to try Family Pet Hospital in Mapleton. They helped us, despite not having an appointment, and likely saved our Oliver. They did such a great job, we took our 11 year old cat in the next day for his booster shots and a checkup. My little chug, Lucy, was attacked by a pack of roaming dogs. One dog bit through her left shoulder and did an incredible amount of damage to the muscle, tissue and nerve bundle to the leg. I called ahead and although I had yet to take my dogs to this vet whom I had seen in passing, they were able to squeeze me in and as I arrived, Lucy was immediately taken to the back and stabilized. One of the staff members cared for me as I was emotionally distraught. She took down the needed information and comforted me - just what I needed. As Dr. Lee worked on patching her up, a hole in her chest cavity was discovered and Lucy's lungs began to collapse. Dr. Lee plugged the hole and called Dr. Madsen who was off duty. Dr. Madsen immediately came back to the office and assisted in the surgery to save Lucy's life. It was after 8pm when she was able to be transported to an over-night urgent care facility. Dr. Lee and two of the staff members had stayed well past closing to care for Lucy until she was stable. Lucy survived the night and is back in the care of Dr. Lee for another day. She is determined to keep Lucy out of pain so she can rest and heal. I am so grateful to the dedication and skill of the members of this hospital. They have saved the life of my beloved little Lucy.Read Less

I think they are unprofessional and unrespectful. My dog got fixed on a Tuesday and the Thursday after her eye was swollen like a golf ball so my wife took her back and they gave us some pills and left it at that. And it kept getting worse and worse so we took her to another vet cause it's always better to have more then one look at problems. And they said she either got hit or kicked or fell. And we don't hit our dogs! So we went back to family pet hospital just to ask if any accidents happen and the secretary said everything went good. But we wanted to know more so she went to ask the vet and she/he wouldn't even come talk to us I think they are hiding something! So they lost our business. I will NOT recommend them to anyone! We are truck drivers and were on our way through the area when we had a possible problem with our 4 month old pomeranian puppy. Not wanting to take a chance, we found a vet to take her to to get checked out. The people at Family Pet were great. They got her in within 2 hours of my call. We were able to park our truck across the street. Everyone there was concerned, sympathetic and professional. The doctor saw her at her appointment time and was very thorough in his examination and explanations. Recently I needed to have my 18-year-old cat released from this life as she had stopped eating and was emaciated. This decline happened in a matter of days and by the time I had called a few veterinarian offices in the north end of the county, where I live, and was told that I would need to make an appointment to determine if she needed to be put down, it had been 3 days. Out of desperation and through many tears in watching my old cat suffering because nobody would take her in on an emergency basis, I found Dr. Madsen and his staff through my sister who had used their service for many of her pets. I called, explained the situation, and they had me bring her in within the hour. Not only did they fit me into their busy schedule that day, the compassionate care for me and my poor cat were incredible! These people are the epitome of what you would want as a human companion to a loving animal. I can't sing their praises enough. I took my 4 month old kitty Tabitha Tallulah in to be spayed. Best vet experience I have ever had. They even found ear mites, which I didn't even know about!) The office is clean, bright and cheerful. The staff is very friendly and efficient. The exam room was immaculate. The procedure went off without a hitch. The staff kept me well informed. Dr. Madsen spoke to me personally to explain how everything went. I also got a follow up call 2 days later to find out how Tabbie was doing. Prices were very reasonable. This is a caring environment with a wonderful responsive staff.  We brought our kitten Nala in for her first check up and then for her to be spayed when she was older.  The vets took excellent care of her, treated us with the utmost professionalism, and we would highly recommend them.  Also - just a comment about the friendliness of the staff - they have been amazing every time we've been to see them.  We're new to town, and they went out of their way to be helpful not only in regard to Nala, but in offering good advice about where to go to eat, or to take a nice hike.  They are just really nice people! We brought our cat, Hobbes, in for a fairly serious problem that easily could have required that he be put to sleep. Fortunately, the vet was able to recommend a course of treatment that literally saved his life. All of the staff were helpful, friendly, and genuinely concerned about Hobbes throughout the whole process. He is now better than ever.
