My dog tore the ligament in her leg Sunday night. I called 5 other vets before calling Alcor Cresta and everyone said they were full until Wednesday. I had never been to Alcor Creata but I called as soon as they opened worried they would turn me away but they said they accepted walk ins. I took my dog in 15 minutes later and there was NO WAIT! The vet tech was gentle and handled my 13 year old dog like she was her own. She gave my dog 2 treats while we waited for the vet and my pup gobbled them down. We saw Dr. Marc Houle and he was so thorough, gentle, and compassionate when examining my dog. I am quite the emotional female and he reassured me the treatment should help and I was making the right choice in her rehabilitation. He explained everything in great detail and asked several times if I had any questions. I am so happy I took her there and feel confident that she's on the road to recovery. Dealing with concerning health issues is has always been stressful for me, and for everyone I know that has had a pet. I feel all of the folks at Alcor do the best that they can. I am not happy at all about this place, Yes the staff was friendly and helped out but they didn't do there job. I took I'm my 3 week old pup to be checked out. They gave her a clean bill of health and said she will be great. Less then 24 hours later I had to put her down because they didn't catch the fact that she had a server umbilical infection, way under weight (she was 1 pound and should of been 7), and a Heart murmur. Due to the infection she had a seizure from low glucose levels because her body was taking all the nutrition to fight it off. I am very disappointed with this place. If I ever go back it will only be to get a refund from the services that gave me false hope. I'm sorry but not every review can be great.Read Less

Parents took our 7 year old normally very happy, healthy, an active dog in 12/17. He was taken because he was acting sluggish and unstable. Vet, Michael Clayton Said the dog seemed fine but had a back problem, prescribed 3 medications. They came home to see that our dog's Jaw would not open and he passed away within a few hours later. I began taking my 1 year old Pomeranian to Alcor Cresta when the late Dr. Good was the vet there. I was so impressed by his gentleness and his willingness to explain every detail I needed to know. And the price they charged for the exam and the shots was so much less than I had come to expect from other vets. I was so relieved to finally find someone compassionate and caring, both with my baby and with me. So when Dr. Good tragically passed away far too young, I felt it was a huge loss to the whole community, and was worried for myself and my little guy. I was wary when Dr. Clayton first came to the clinic, sure that no one could ever be as compassionate and knowledgeable as Dr. Good. To my relief, after a few visits I found that Dr. Clayton was truly sweet and caring to my little guy, and patient with my questions as well. Later, we added a Chihuahua puppy to our family, and Alcor Cresta added Dr. Mark. Each time I meet a new person at the clinic, I am astounded by the compassion and love they have for animals, and very grateful for the patience and knowledge they share with me. Our little girl had an accident and broke her front leg. We were terrified we'd have to amputate. The doctors spent so much time coming up with options for us, and working with us through an operation and months and months of rehabilitation visits. Both doctors stayed fully aware of every detail of her treatment, and honestly explained all of the possible complications and spent time both in reassuring us and in helping us face the realities. Now, many months later, our little Chihuahua is a speed demon running around on her fully healed leg, and both staff and doctors recognize my two babies and call them by name every time we come in. Despite the terrible things she had to endure, and the unavoidable pain she suffered, our little girl is never afraid to come into the clinic, and our little guy LOVES coming to socialize. That is because everyone at the clinic just radiates love and appreciation for animals, and they did everything they could to take away the inevitable fear that such pain creates. It's amazing to me that Alcor Cresta has truly been able to carry on the legacy of care and love for animals in a way I think Dr. Good would have been proud of. My dog, Cole, became ill very suddenly so I rushed him to the closest clinic. I had never been to Alcor Cresta before, but I will ONLY come here in the future. Everyone I dealt with was fantastic. Cole and I ended up being there for an hour after they had closed and none of the staff seemed the least bit bothered. They were all so kind and patient. Dr. Clayton in particular was amazing. He didn't rush me at all. He spent all the time necessary explaining every possible cause of Cole's illness and each possible course of treatment. Alcor Cresta used to be a great hospital. Not anymore! Dr. Good would be ashamed and embarrassed with the poorly run office and the greedy overcharging vets Dr. Marc and Dr. Clayton. My kitten had an exam and shots on 1/30. When I brought him back on 3/10 for booster shots they charged me AGAIN for an office exam. My kitten's teeth and heart beat did not change in 6 weeks. The office is loud and poorly run. The office staff runs around like they have no idea where anything is or what they are doing. I will no longer be taking my pets to this awful place! I am a huge fan of this clinic and of Dr. Marc. My two cats have been having a problem with bloody stools for a few months. The first veterinary hospital I took them to, as a pet ER, showed little concern, as the cats were behaving normally and the condition did not look immediately life-threatening. Understandable. I took them into this office when the condition did not improve with the treatments recommended by the first hospital, and I could immediately see a difference in the quality of care. The staff is not only concerned, but seems to genuinely love the animals. Dr. Marc is fantastic at reserving drastic actions or procedures if they may not be absolutely necessary (ultrasounds, etc.), but he mentions them as an option in case you do not like the slower or cheaper option. He is fantastic about calling a week after starting a treatment option to see how it is going. While I'm still seeing issues in the litter box, the condition is slowly improving and Dr. Marc has not given up. I highly recommend this clinic! Read Less

This is a great, trustworthy vet. They really care about the well-being of your pet and are very through with their exams. The vet is reasonably priced and are up front with costs and do not go forward on things with out the consent of the owner, so the people watching their cents have an up front idea of their visit. I have had pets my whole life, and Dr. Good is by far the best vet I have ever met. When I first moved to SLC, I didn't know where to take my dog. I ended up taking him to a vet that was open on a sunday when my dog had fallen ill. This other vet clinic made me wait so long, not in the waiting room but in the exam room, they charged an atrocious amount of money for the simplest of procedures. After a bill of OVER $700 for treatment of gastroenteritis and dehydration and a quote of $700 for a simple teeth cleaning procedure, I decided to look elsewhere. A friend had recommended Dr. Good at Alcor Cresta. Immediately I noticed a difference. Dr. Good was prompt in coming into the exam room, he was on the floor cooing and petting my dog. He even asked if my dog had any nicknames, so he would feel more comfortable. The dental cleaning was only $150! Dr. Good even recommended a way to keep my dogs teeth clean so i would never have to take him in for a cleaning again. Today my dog went in for a possible infection in his urethra, and Dr. Good took tests and found it was nothing, i was only charged for the office visit, not for the tests. I know if it was the other vet, I would have been charged probably double. It is clear to me that Dr. Good is in it for the animals, not the money, as most vets these days seem to be. I first met Dr. Good about 12 years ago when I had a feisty little dog with a hard-to-diagnose skin condition. My previous vet had tagged her as Vicious and a Bite Threat - with a red-label folder. He wouldn't even get close enough to her to see what the problem was. She has never bitten anyone, by the way - just barked a lot. Anyway, when we finally met Dr. Good, he got down on the ground and talked to her like he wanted to help - there was no more barking, and he was her friend for life. We were told by our former vet our 8 year old dog would need a $2500 surgery to repair a torn ACL on one of his back legs, we decided to take him to Dr. Good for a second opinion and we are so happy we did! Our previous vet made it sound like we had no other options other than surgery, they also did not go over the cons to having surgery. When we took our dog to Dr. Good he advised us the tear wasn't as bad as the previous vet made it sound and it was very possible it could heal with time, he also made us aware of the cons of having surgery (the quality of life could actually go down due to all the rehabilitation that would be needed). Dr. Good suggested we first try keeping him off his back legs for a while and giving him joint supplement, after two months our dog was using his back legs again with no signs of pain and no expensive surgery! We now take both our cat and our dog to Dr. Good, his prices are very reasonable and he is always very up front with what treatment options we have should our pets become ill. Also, we tried switching to a different brand of heartworm medication with our dog, unfortunately, he had a bad reaction to it. When we asked if we could switch back to the former brand they allowed us to give our new medication back and just pay the difference for the more expensive brand. Dr. Good is a godsend.Honestly, I have never met a person who seems to genuinely love and care for animals as much as he does. Last year I returned from my honeymoon and my lil pug was lethargic and not eating.  I assumed it was just her stressed from our absence, a few days later and she was shivering constantly and couldn't keep her eyes open. Not having a vet, I took a chance on him because of a review where he was called a pug expert. Thank god I did. He thoroughly questioned me about her behavior and health and he was able to immediately diagnose her, while saving me the cost of hundreds (maybe thousands) on tests. She had pyometra, which can result in death if the dog's uterus bursts (similar to appendicitis) and he immediately operated. The operation was after hours, and he stayed with her through the night to make sure everything was okay. I'm pretty sure he slept at the clinic that night, because he was there bright and early to see other pets. He did all of this without extra fees.  I know had we gone anywhere else, they would have ran so many tests her uterus would have burst before they had figured it out. I've since recommended everyone I know to Dr. Good and everyone is just as impressed with how fair his prices are and how incredible he is with animals.He's also got a great sense of humor, he offered to send me a picture of her uterus after the surgery. I have taken my dogs to Dr. Good for 3 years now. I have been to him for multiple problems, and he has resolved them every single time. I have utilized his services for physicals, labs, illnesses, and also for the kenneling. Dr. Good always has playtime with the dogs. He gets down on the ground, despite my unexplainably hyper dog! I had originally taken one of my dogs to another vet who said my dog needed surgery and it would cost me approximately $1500. Dr. Good did not feel she needed surgery and saved me $1500. My family was fortunate enough to find Dr. Good, immediately after our last rescue. I have 3 dogs and I feel like I see him more than some of my good friends. Not only are his fees reasonable (I feel guilty sometimes because I know he can't be making money) but, he truly loves animals. Some people are born to do something and he is doing what he was born to do. He has a 6th sense about animals and every single time my dogs have been sick he has been able to pinpoint why. All without running a battery of expensive tests. You can rest assured that he will never recommend something that is not needed. We took ""Bart"" to Alcor Cresta to see Dr. Good after having a bad experience at another vet. Bart was hit by a car, fracturing his femur, the other vet tried to repair it, and it failed. Dr. Good had seen Bart growing up and we always thought he was a great doctor. So we took Bart to him for a second opinion on his femur. Dr. Good brought in an orthopedic specialist, and the two of them performed surgery on him again, placing more hardware to stabilize his leg, and doing a bone graft. After all of this, they are now boarding Bart for three weeks to give him the best chance at a full recovery. They are doing all of this at a very reasonable price. I've never been to a better vet. Dr. Good returns calls, explains things very well, and his staff is very responsive. Nothing but five stars for Dr. Good and his staff. Dr. Dan Good is the best vet in SLC. The first time he met my cats he sat on the floor with them so they could get used to him. Since that first appt he treats my animals with the same kindness and caring. On top of being knowledgeable, he is always on time with appointments and his hospital is always clean and odor free. I've never had a problem finding a parking place. The location is within minutes of my home. It was somewhat hard to find but Dr. Good has put up additional signage. Just look for the blue and white signs. His prices are comparable to other vets in the area, but the value you receive is second to none. Additionally, his office staff is friendly and knowledgeable and you get a discount for paying in cash! I have found that all my pet-owner friends in the area also bring their animals to Dr Good. I absolutely love Dr. Good and Alcor Cresta! Dr. Good is so caring and comitted to providing the best possible care to his patients. You can tell how passionate his is about his field, and that he's definitely not just in it for the money. I first started taking my cats to Dr. Good when he was at a different office simply because it was right down the street from my (then) house. How fortunate I was to stumble upon him! It's been at least 7 years since I began going to him and in that time I have moved from Salt Lake to Kaysville and Dr. Good has started his own practice in Midvale. To this day, I will drive clear from Kaysville to Midvale with a whining cat in the car. He's that good! My cat has terrible reactions to immunizations and where other vets would pressure me into trying some new vaccine, Dr. Good understands that his life is not worth the risk. Dr. Good is hands down the best vet in the state. He truly loves his animals he treats. He is very easy to talk to, very thorough & super nice. We have been with him for over 9 years & will continue to have him as our vet for every animal we get. He is a pug expert & we highly reccomend him. His staff is excellent as well & they are very polite & helpful. He is very concerned about our girls & our lil boy when he was with us. He past in 2006 & he did everything possible to save him & took it hard when he past. He is not just our vet but part of our family. There is excellent boarding & Grooming services as well. If you are ever to trust your lil one, Dr. Good & his staff are the ones to trust. My parents even drive in from Tooele for his services. He is such an awesome guy, knows his occupation inside & out. I just got a new puppy in July, and as you know with new puppies they require several visits to get all of their shots. Dr. Good and his staff are wonderful. They are all very sweet to both my puppy, and me. You can tell that Dr. Good really loves animals. He always makes sure to get a kiss from my puppy before we leave. My family and I love Dr. Good. My parents drive over an hour each way to take their pets into see him and although I don't live with them anymore- I continue to bring my pets to him. When our family dog started acting funny- we took him into the vet. They did an Xray and he noticed some things that were unusual. He contacted a radiologist (they were out at a conference) on his own time and we found out that our dog had a fast moving bone cancer. We put him down within a week from the diagnoses (went downhill that fast). The vet went out to the truck when we brought in our dog and climbed into the truck and held our dog as he put him down. instead of having us move the dog into the clinic. My fiance discovered he was allergic to cats when he moved in and they helped me find new homes for them. They are active on petfinder and treat the animals fantastic. My puppy is currently a patient of his and we've had to come in to see him many many times due to an accident she was in.He came out to the car in the rain to say goodbye to our puppy when we left last time. His prices are unbelievably great. I will never take my pets to see another vet while he is in practice. My parents are willing to drive over an hour to visit him and if I need too- I will too.
