Tried to bring my bunny in to get spayed, waited almost 3 weeks for her appointment. The lady told me the instructions when I first set the appointment, I called a day before to make sure everything was set and to make sure the instructions we’re the same. They told me that the bunny just needed kibble when we brought her in. I come in and come to find out that my bunny wasn’t allowed to eat fruit two weeks prior. Both of the ladies on the phone we’re rude, and neglected to tell me the proper care before sugery. I took time off work and lost 80 dollars from not working and 10 dollars in gas driving out there. Frustrating to be treated so poorly and not given proper instructions and to waste my time and money. :( Read Less

I have them 2 stars ONLY because they got me in quick with my 3 animals. Went in, and waited FOREVER to be checked in. Smelled bad and old. I was nervous to leave my pets. About five minutes after I left I get a call saying one of my dogs was too aggressive. Not once ever has this dog been aggressive. Then they call me back about 3 more times saying they didn’t want to do my cat because she was a pound below weight. Told them we were fine to go ahead and do it. I go to pick them up and things were fine. A few days later my dog that got neutered had a really bad smell coming from under his neck and cone. Had to take him to an emergency vet and he ended up with a really bad bacterial infection! How on earth can one happy healthy dog come home with a bacterial infection!? Somewhere totally separate from the neuter site. It ended up going down to his tail too. It’s been a week and a half and we’re STILL trying to get it under control. When I called this place, the minute I say bacterial infection she wouldn’t tell me a thing. Told me to come in. Could t even tell me some home solutions to try to help. Won’t be going back! We did not end up staying to have anything done to our animals here. Remember you get what you pay for. There are so many other places in Utah that care for your pets at an affordable rate. Very great services! Called a week ago and got in the exact day that I was available. I took my 7 month old Lab to get spayed & I was so nervous for her! I received pre-op instruction shortly after confirming my appointment, & also got a phone call the day before surgery with exact instruction. Drop-Offs were between 7:30-8:30am. Upon entering, they had a quick check-in system with very friendly and knowledgeable staff members. It definitely made me feel at ease knowing i’m leaving my pup in their care. Pick-Up was between 4:00-5:00pm. Within five minutes I payed & was on my way with my pup! *Clean incision site!! *Cost: $88.00 = Spay, Pain Medication, & Nail Trim! Read Less

2.5 stars. The best thing about this place is how quick and easy it was. Called and had him in a week latter unlike everyother spay and neuter in utah where you wait MONTHS. However, the place is FILTHY. My pup ended up getting sick from his visit. We just recently called them saying he was sick after his neuter, and they said we could take him back. We brought him back and they said he had a respiratory infection and INSISTED that he did not get it while he was there. We told them he started showing signs of being sick a couple days after his procedure and there was another dog at the clinic who was sick with the same symptoms that got neutered around the same time as our pup. Pretty ridiculous. They should also think about updating the look of the building. Its pretty old. Read Less

I'm sure other staff members are just fine, but whoever the lady was who answered the phone this morning was extremely snotty, unwelcoming, and plain rude. I tried to explain to her I needed to make an appointment to spay my puppy in 2 months (July 22) once my puppy was 5 months old, even though she's 2 months old now. She kept cutting me off to tell me in a very condescending tone that my puppy was way too young right now and that they're completely booked for this month and she could schedule me for the beginning of July (which would still be too young by the way.) Had she cared enough to listen to what I was trying to tell her, she would have understood that my original intention was to book an appointment once my puppy was old enough. Instead I was laughed at and made to feel incompetent. I have never received such poor customer service. I decided to call another spaying and neutering service who was much kinder, listened to what I had to say, and made me feel as though my business was appreciated. Read Less

What a wonderful staff this clinic has! My miniature dachshund is my baby- he was given to me as a gift after I suffered a tremendous personal loss. I love and care about him so much! I cried like a crazy person when I handed him over for a dental cleaning and tooth extraction. The staff made me feel so much better! They called and kept me updated on his condition, they put him in a quiet room to help ease his stress, they answered all my questions, they explained his after care to me very thoroughly and they brought him out to me snuggled in a blanket to keep him warm- it showed me that they truly cared about him. The lady that works the counter, Tracy, is a wonderful person! I can tell though that the ENTIRE staff is a group of people a notch higher than the rest. This is the place to take your beloved pets. I was nervous to get my sweet teacup shihtzu puppy spayed. I have had two experiences here. One was ok and the other was horrible. My first experience was maddening! I am actually surprised I went back to this place. My tiny dog was now old enough to get spayed. I don't remember what the weight limit is but she was just barely over it. I made my appointment and had my husband drop her off. While my husband was there, they weighed her. Everything seemed fine. We dropped her off early in the morning. 12:30 rolls around and I get a phone call. The technician informs me that my dog is TOO SMALL to go into surgery and they want to wait until she fills out a little more. While I am grateful that they did not proceed with a high-risk surgery, I was VERY UPSET that my poor dog had been sitting in their office for OVER FOUR hours for no reason! Why didn't they tell me husband she was too small when he was there? Why did they wait so long to call me? She was a puppy and had already been fasting for surgery. She was so thirsty when I brought her home. After these shenanigans, I somehow found myself making an appointment again. A co-worker of mine brought their dog there and had nothing but good things to say. My dog weighed a little more so I brought her back. I think it is ridiculous that they charged extra to put an IV in. Of course I'm going to pay for an IV, what if she needed emergency medication? Why wouldn't they just give an IV to every dog patient? Penny (my dog) also had some ectopic eruptions. An ectopic eruption is when an adult tooth grows in but does not absorb the root of the existing baby tooth. These need to be pulled (I work at a dentist office). So, I had them pull out a couple baby teeth. When I picked her up, she had blood all over her beard. They didn't even bother wiping it off. Same with her IV spot, blood stained. They could have cleaned her up. She looked like a hot mess already and the blood wasn't doing her any favors. The staff was friendly and my puppy had a successful surgery. They offer a lot of good services and are decently priced. Would I go there again? I'm  not sure Read Less

I took my five month old kitten in for her first vet visit. She got shots, spayed, and micro chipped. The woman who took my information misspelled my name and email address, despite me spelling them out, so all our paperwork was incorrect. When we picked her up the vet was super kind, said there was nothing to report, and that everything went fine. When the kitten was brought out she was extremely distressed, was relieved to see us, but meowed the whole way home. Right as we got home, despite just having surgery, she ate a bowl and a half of food, so I don't think she ate anything for the whole day she was there. Her incision looks great and she calmed down after being home and eating. But we noticed she was walking tentatively and, upon examining her paws, we see that her claws had been hacked up to all different lengths. Four of the quicks in her feet were completely exposed and she was bleeding. I immediately called them and asked why they had done that. Instead of an apology for hurting my kitten, I'm regaled with a story about how she had been so afraid she wouldn't come out of her box, so they pulled her out with a net, she scratched them, and they "trimmed" her claws. The woman complained about how difficult it is to trim claws, as if I didn't know this myself despite having done it successfully for five months. She advised we have her sedate for her next visit and said she should be fine. So, what you're telling me is a bunch of professionals couldn't handle a frighten kitten, she acted out, and you aggressively handled her, harmed her, and I wasn't informed of it while I was standing in the office. . . That doesn't sound like a smooth visit to the vet to me! I'm furious. This is my first cat and I'm shocked at how she was treated. So, unless you want to pay someone to abuse and harm your fur baby, I would suggest avoiding this place.Read Less

My dog was Neutered yesterday.  The cost was obviously affordable as this is pretty much what they do, but I just felt like we were another number.  I was extremely frustrated by the cone that was given to us because I wasn't shown how to use it, such as taking it on or off so my dog could eat.  You know I've never dealt with this before so a little help would have been appreciated.  I did pay extra for pain medication and they only gave us 4 pills!!  Sorry but he just got his balls whacked off and that's all he gets??  Are you serious?  Then I paid an extra $40 to have his ears cleaned and they cleaned them out but gave a bottle of blue goop, literally to squeeze in his ears.  I also paid extra for his microchip and they told me it's all registered all I have to do is go log in to the website.  Well it was not registered so I call and the girl tells me it takes a week or two, or I could do it myself!!  NO that's what I pay YOU GUYS for.  I get that you've got a lot but that's not my problem, and I can't help it if the girl at the desk DID NOT tell me that when I came to pick him up.  Not my fault.  You know, I could have gone to the vet and paid double, and they would have kept him overnight, fed him, gave him a sturdier cone, shown me how to use it, registered his microchip, gave me a REAL earwash.  Boy what a regret Read Less

Yesterday was the day it could've have come off. Tuesday night I came home from work and found my baby with his head stuck in his cage, due to the cone, dead. My husband and I are devastated by this. Please please please use something else besides a cone. Wrap your dog in ace bandage or get a muzzle to prevent licking. This freak accident could have easily been prevented. My poor baby died struggling and scared and all alone. Right next to our other dog in her cage. A very traumatizing experience and a lifetime of pain and regret. All for a cone to prevent licking. Ok so many humans don't love going to the dentist. So it stands to reason that pups don't either but when the plaque builds up you wanna take care of your furry bestie the best you can annnnnd not go broke doing it.  Right?  This office can handle all kinds of pet procedures but I one here once a year for each dog for dental procedures.  They quite you a price of $250 (used to be $200) and will not go over that.  Often it costs less. Which is always a welcomed surprise.  Everything comes with that price. No extra surprise charges.  The staff is friendly and genuinely seem to care about our pets.  This is my go to place for canine dental care. Read Less

Both of my dogs were patients of docs and when the new doctor Lindy showed up...well frankly I was skeptical, but decided to give it a try bc the staff had always been so helpful and friendly (even emotionally supportive when I had to put one of my babies down- thanks Ali). My greyhound's teeth were in pretty bad shape. I was given quotes by other vets that it would cost around $900, so I kept putting it off (I know, I know - I feel terrible). However, a friend at No More Homeless Pets gave me a tip that this place does great work. I was prepared to spend around $500. When I got the bill for anesthesia, meds, cleaning, some extractions, nails clipped, labor and great care, it came to $194; I almost asked "are you sure!?" The check-in was quick, easy, no nonsense, and the tech was super thorough about next steps and recovery. And my puppy is doing great. Read Less

After taking my first cat (Wolfgang... miss you bud) here and having an excellent experience, good ol' Chester Copperpot was is in need of fixing - there wasn't even a moment of thought of where to take him. This place was great the first time, and 7 years later was just as amazing with my sweet little Chester. Drop off times are between 7:30-8:30 AM with a pick up time between 4-5 PM the same day. The staff here is friendly, down to earth, and make you feel comfortable with leaving your pets alone for surgery. The cost is really low - exactly the same amount as the humane society - without having to wait weeks to get your pet in. They also do shots, teeth cleanings, declawing (which I would never recommend for your feline friend), and exams. You can also take pain meds home for your pet to recover for $10. Chester is all recovered and is no longer running around my apartment doped up. Thank you Spay & Neuter for being a wonderful option to help take care of our pets and being cost effective for animal population control!! P.S. loved those furry babies wandering freely around the clinic!! Read Less

Called & ask for pricing & I was told that since my dog was over 3 years of age she was free but need to pay $35 fluid flush. This was also the price I was told when we dropped her off....$35.00...then they said we recommend to do blood work for dogs over 3 years of age.........Now: $70.00 thought that was a great deal & we agreed.....Then we go to pick her up & up they charge me $145.00 with a hidden $65.00 dollar fee for the procedure. I informed them that I was told on the phone and also in person once dropped off it was free for animals over 3 years of age. (I had a free voucher that was given to me from no more homeless pets. But since they told me on the phone that dogs over 3 where free I left it at home. The person at the front desk told me that I SHOULD have brought in the voucher in the morning when dropping off the animal to get the free procedure even though the told me on the PHONE & in PERSON it was free. ...Then we asked if we could run home & get the voucher & they said ""NO""......To top it off, they charge extra for the pain meds for the animal, OF course people are going to want their animals in NO PAIN but to charge EXTRA!!? (None of the other vets charge extra they include it in the price) ...BOTTOM LINE: the Customer service is horrible & they where trying to hide fees & ""up-sale"" like a car salesman. ***If I would have know the cost before I would have taken my dog elsewhere since i had my other dog fixed for $25 bucks (at BEST FRIENDS SANCTUARY) drugs & procedure included & they make you feel that they CARE ABOUT YOUR ANIMAL! Took my female rabbit in to be spayed. This was the only spay and neuter clinic I've seen that made themselves available on the phone. The pricing was very affordable..especially for rabbits who usually cost quite a bit. I received a reminder phone call before my appointment, complete with species savvy instructions to not withhold feed or water for rabbits before surgery. During surgery, they even trimmed her teeth and nails, and afterwards, they provided me with one of the recommended pain medications for rabbits. The staff was polite and informative at all times. I will definitely be taking my male rabbit here to be neutered when he is old enough. Couldn't be happier. Read Less

People often procrastinate with regard to the spaying and/or neutering of their pets because it costs too much, or it's inconvenient or pick your other favorite excuse. This is how unwanted pregnancies occur people! And when your 4-legged friend gets knocked up, you end up with TWINS! OR WORSE!! You could have an extra 8 or 9 mouths to feed if you're not careful. The answer? Spay and Neuter Clinic of SLC. This place is awesome. Their appointments are convenient. Usually you drop off your pooch, or feline, in the morning and then pick him/her up that same afternoon. Sure he'll be a little groggy. And sure he'll be pissed at you for a few days, but it's all worth it. And this place is cheap! It's been a while, so my memory is foggy, but it seems like the surgery is only around $60 or $70. Many veterenarians charge $300! They only do spay and neuter, and a few other very minor surgeries, here. So they have a great system. They are able to serve a lot of pets and their people each day and that efficiency and volume lowers the price for all. I took my little Mojo in for his snip snip. They noticed his little hernia on his belly and asked me if I wanted them to repair it. I said, "yes please" and was SHOCKED that it only added $10 to the bill! This place really does eliminate all your poor excuses for not taking care of business with your quadrupeds. Read Less

I can't believe the scuzzy looks that our dog gave me when we picked him up from Spay and Neuter clinic. I don't think he was as happy with the outcome as we were. When my wife and I looked around for a place to get our dog neutered, we were shocked when we got a quote from Spay and Neuter. Our vet (who we really love) wanted to charge $250, and after calling around to others, that was the going rate with most vets.Spay and Neuter Clinic was started by a vet who decided to completely focus on spaying and neutering in order to control the pet population (thanks for the line, Mr. Barker). Since neutering is all they do, they keep the costs down and are extremely efficient. Our puppy also needed to get some teeth pulled and have a small hernia repaired on his belly. I think they charged us an extra $10 for this. All in all, we left paying a $75 bill for services that would have cost over $300 in other places. Make no mistake: the building itself is a bit sketchy, and not as nice as most vet offices, but the service they provide is top-notch. Read Less

I had the best experience with the Spay and Neuter of SLC. I am a first-time dog owner, so I was a little nervous myself getting my puppy spayed (and her dew-claws removed). It was a busy little office when I took her early in the morning to drop her off, and felt a little self-conscience because all the other owners there looked like they knew what they were doing. Once I was helped, though, I felt completely comfortable and they walked me through everything I needed to do and to know. When I came back that night to pick her up, again they were very professional and made me feel like I would be okay! I didn't have to wait at all before I was helped, either. They gave me a paper with everything I needed to know, and some verbal instructions, and I was on my way. Even after the surgery, I felt like they were very helpful. I called the clinic so many times with questions, and they were always friendly and knowledgeable (and reassuring!) for a paranoid owner. :) They have competitive prices for their services, and besides that, they actually care. I would recommend this place to anyone! Read Less

I just got my 6-month-old kitten back today from her spay surgery there, and am impressed with the services they provide at the clinic. They were friendly and calm with giving instructions and answering questions, and dealt with each animal with individual concern, even though the clinic was quite busy when I went in. The post-op pain medication offered and the opportunity to get up-to-date on her shots (for a minimal fee) was great. The clinic may be small and not the 'poshest' pet place in the area, but they clearly have strong compassion for animals and a skilled staff that offers affordable rates -- which is definitely what matters. I'd also definitely recommend this place to anyone who needed a spay/neuter or vaccinations for their pet. Read Less

I have taken many cats and dogs here to be spayed or neutered and have always been satisfied with the level of friendly, compassionate service. The prices are the lowest I've found, and you can rest assured that your pets are in good, experienced hands. My last puppy had a mild reaction to the anesthetic and I called panicking and the staff was patient and compassionate towards me and said I could bring her in if she didn't improve within a few hours. She did improve quickly and I didn't need to take her in. They offer you the option of purchasing pain medication for your pets if you would like to. It's a very needed and appreciated quality service provided. They do get busy so sometimes so you may have to wait a week or two to get in, but that is to be expected as these services are highly in demand. Other times there is no wait and you can bring your pet in the very next day. I highly recommend this clinic to anyone needing a spay or neuter. Read Less

We brought him back and they said he had a respiratory infection and INSISTED that he did not get it while he was there. We told them he started showing signs of being sick a couple days after his procedure and there was another dog at the clinic who was sick with the same symptoms that got neutered around the same time as our pup. Read Less

Upon drop off and pick up, the staff was very vigilant of each client, and I had all questions answered directly and patiently. My Great Pyrenees, Luna, is doing very well after her Spay and Microchip procedure. The prices for medication and procedures are very reasonable, and since they do them so often it's really the best place I could have come to. Read Less

His face was covered in puke and when we picked him up he smelled really bad. They said the reason they didn't clean him up because the person was scared to touch the dog.
