We had to say goodbye do our yellow Lab "Bo" today. He was 14 and we had raised him from a puppy. Bo was a part loved part of our family. I'm so glad that we took him to Wilson V. H. Dr. Swain did an amazing job on our fur baby's emergency surgery. She got him in immediately, and even stayed with him throughout the entire healing process. She is very thorough, and does whatever it takes to make sure her 4-legged patients are comfortable. I would HIGHLY suggest her. My pups won't ever go to anyone else as long as she's in the field. Great vet, horrible staff I've been going to Dr. Wilson for 29 years and trust him with my babies. He's always treated my kids like they were the most important patients and I've always trusted his recommendations. However, after 29 years of seeing him I'm now looking for another vet. His front office staff (with the exception of one) are just horrible. They are mean, rude, inconsiderate, and have no sympathy for what you are your pets may be feeling. I've put up with their abrasive attitudes long enough and no longer want to object myself or my pets to that treatment. I'm extremely sad to be leaving Dr. Wilson as I truly believe he is the best in Utah but I can't tell you the last time I had a positive experience with his staff. Read Less

Dr. Wilson is one of the best veterinarian's! He has a very caring manner with all types of pets. He is highly knowledgeable and has many years of surgical experience which is what you want when your pet requires surgery He's cared for all of my dogs and cats for over 15 years. The clinic is clean and well kept. He does almost all aspects of clinical care. Well pet exams, vaccinations, lab and testing, hospitalization, critical care, surgery, dentals, spay/neuter, and much more! One of my bffs works at Best Friends and suggested we bring our pets to this vet. The staff was all very kind and obvious animal lovers. That should be a given at any vet, but sadly it's not always the case. These guys are very inexpensive compared to Dancing Cats (where I had been taking the cats). When I brought my cat in here she had a hard time with the barking and hid behind the desktop computer in her examination room. Dr. Swain was really sweet with her though, and took her time warming my cat up before retrieving her for the examination. That all went well so I asked about bringing our Pomeranian in. Our Pom has been having a throaty issue after we took her to several vets who failed to help. Our dog had been debarked before we adopted her and the scar tissue was growing over, inhibiting her from breathing. Dr. Swain suggested we put her under for teeth that needed to be cleaned/pulled, and she'd laser some of the scar tissue away. Well, when I picked my dog up after an entire day at the vet, the girl at the desk told me the vet wasn't comfortable layering away the scar tissue. So I paid $450 for dental work and later spent less than that up the road at Bayview in Farmington, where they successfully removed her scar tissue two weeks later.  I was also disappointed that the vet didn't explain to me herself why she didn't remove the scar tissue. We'd had x-rays done prior and she seemed confident. She also told me my dog had vaginitis but failed to prescribe anything. I googled it, changed her diet, and bought some recommended supplements. She's doing better, but there was very little reason for me to take her to this vet. Read Less

I despise leaving negative feedback, however, I would like to give an honest opinion.  The office personnel has been difficult to work with, and not kind in the least.  They provide little attention or concern to the matters I was in question about.  (This is not directed towards the vets, but their employees.). We've taken our dogs to Wilson Veterinary Hospital for probably 20+ years now. Dr. Wilson and his staff are the best, most caring folks you could ever wish for. When our dogs have had to have surgery and needed to stay overnight or been in for special tests Dr. Wilson has always personally called us to give us an update and answer any questions we may have. When it's been time to say goodbye to our old companions and assist them across the rainbow bridge Dr. Wilson has been so caring, considerate and thoughtful to ensure our pets were able to pass with dignity and without pain. Dr. Wilson and Dr. Swain have both been amazing. I can't imagine going to anyone else to take care of my cat and the foster cats I care for. They are attentive and seem to have the best interest of their patients in mind. They are careful to not over subscribe medications, which is important for older pets. But know when to take a hard line on when further intervention is needed to care for an ailment. Their dedication has been proven again and again (senior cat with arthritis, dislocated hips, deaf cats, ear infections, kidney and liver function for older cats, surgery suggestions for bone spurs, and more). I had experience with another clinic in this part of Davis County. They were OK but very expensive for the services rendered. I took my dog into the Wilson Clinic and am going to move his records there. Dr. Wilson was more knowledgeable than any veterinarian I have encountered. I brought my little Pittie in to be spayed here a few days ago. I chose this place initially, although it's a bit of a drive from my house, because of the reviews and due to the fact that Dr. Wilson called and discussed my concerns and my baby's past health issues (she's had her fair share - the main reason I waited a bit for her to be spayed) and he talked to me for quite some time and didn't try to sell me a bunch of nonsense dog food for her allergies (he recommended a brand that he doesn't sell in his clinic, very rare for a veterinarian!) I used to work at an animal clinic, so I'm aware of all of the things people get ripped off on. I asked for several extra tests, so I was expecting a high estimate. It came to $390. When I paid the bill yesterday, that dropped to $347. $0 for hospitalization(patient care) SO RARE not to charge for changing blankets, taking to the bathroom, feeding, etc. and overall an extremely fair price. She was kept overnight, and I was made aware that she was awake and doing fine around 2pm. Calmed me a lot, she is basically my child. No idea what I would do without her. She ripped up the toy I brought for her to play with (not a surprise) but they gave me a replacement! Wow! Great customer service. My pit mix just had a mast cell tumor removed by Dr Swain today and I can't say enough how much I appreciate her and the whole team there for the level of care they showed. Dr. Wilson is the pet whisperer. Our previous vet had to examine our cat under anesthesia because he bites. Dr. Wilson just said, "Let's see what's going on in there," and the cat opened its mouth and let him examine its teeth. When two other vets recommended my friend's cat be euthanized, Dr. Wilson examine him and found an enlarged thyroid gland. It turned out that the cat needed thyroid therapy and heart medications, but is doing fine and did not need to be euthanized. Read Less

My family has been going to Dr. Wilson for generations now. Since he was in West Valley City. He is hands down the best veterinarian anywhere. He has treated my dogs for decades. I just wish sometimes it was easier to get in. But they have never turned me away if I have brought mine up for an emergency without calling. I recommend him to everyone. dr. wilson + staff are some of the best people to work with when it comes to just about anything. they are always upbeat, friendly, and actually care about you and your pet. they are always working hard and doing the best they can even if there are a lot of emergencies etc. dr. wilson himself has gone out of his way for me many times. like when my dog was having troubles late at night i called him and he came from home to his hospital just for me. i know he didn't have to do that and i really appreciated it. he remembers my family dog from over 10 years ago and talks about him by name. i have been going to this veterinary hospital for all of my pets ever since i can remember. i would recommend it over any other one. Dr Wilson is one ofthe most caring, compasionate men I have ever met. He knows everything about pets. He helped us through putting our springer spaniel, Annabelle, to sleep about 10 years ago. Although it was a sad event, he handled it so wonderuflly that we were comforted. He has helped me with problems with my cat that was peeing on our furniture. Turns out she had a bladder infection (who knew, we thought she was just mad at us) Dr. Wilson is the best and his staff is awesome.
