I brought my cat in to this vet because my cat was lathergic. He want eating or drinking anything and couldn't go to the potty. I brought him in and the doctor was afraid they were going to lose him because he was blocked. After only three days he made an amazing recovery!!! The vets and techs were fantastic!! DO NOT BRING YOUR PET HERE! I brought my snake in and they hardly even looked at him and suggested we spend hundreds of dollars on medication. I took their advice and my snake died days after bringing him here from what seemed to be a reaction from the very medication that they prescribed to him. I would leave a negative review if I could. For years we have had exceptional service, but that has ended. We made an appointment for blood work to be done on our dog with the clear and explicit instructions that we would be filling a prescription online. My wife went in and was pushed into buying the medication from them. They knew we were filling an online prescription and still continued to sell it to my wife. Trying to explain that to them after the appointment has proven to be useless. The receptionist didn’t denote the appointment correctly. There are major communication issues with in the office. They have proven through this experience that they are no better then the typical vets office that pushes you into services and treatments that are not needed just to make a buck. Go elsewhere. We will not visit this office again. While trying to correct this issue I was treated terribly over the phone and my wife was disrespected and treated like dirt. My girlfriend and I brought in our pet bearded dragon and it was a wonderful experience. Not only did the vet have extensive knowledge of what a bearded dragon needs to be healthy the demeanor of the staff was outstanding all of them were so polite and patient with us. We got plenty of good information to help better take care of our pet. The vet also was able to get our grumpy dragon who hates car rides to calm down and act happy again. We've been to Riverwoods Pet Hospital A LOT!!! Our dog, unfortunately, had to have knee surgery a couple years ago. A six month recovery meant the whole staff got to know us really well. I'm probably the most annoying kind of pet parent because I ask a million questions and get anxiety over the well being of my animals. The staff has always been so patient and understanding with me, answering every single question I have. They treat my animals with such care and compassion. My 10 year old crested had sneezed and hit his head on the floor immediately paralyzing him. I went to 3 vets and no one would see him. They all wanted $1500 for an MRI before discussing any treatments. Dr Dobson was incredible and immediately started game planning a treatment plan. After our experience today, I had to inform others to beware! Last November 2016 we asked Riverwoods to help us get ready for our move to Hawaii (lots of paperwork & medical necessities), giving enough time to complete requirements for transporting our Husky. We're new to this whole process and needed help with the medical portion of requirements. We visited several more times over the next few months continuing to check with them to make sure we were ready to move our Husky. My last visit I was told were on track with everything and to come back a week before departure date to pick up our dog's needed health certificate. We showed up today to do so and couldn't because they neglected to give her a mandatory blood test that takes 4-6 weeks to get back and should've been administered allowing 120 days from a positive result. Our family, especially our children are devastated that our family dog will now have to stay behind for 5 months or more or be quarantined (doggy prison) in Hawaii for 120 days. Either way, this could've been avoided if Riverwoods had understood the requirements. Our bad was trusting that they were helping us with this first time process. Make sure you don't completely trust their word! Sorry this is long, but hope we can help anyone else who will be moving with a pet. They didn't know how to help us. There was nothing wrong with my dig, but the vet wanted to prescribe three medications, just in case and still wanted to charge for an office visit. I came in with a one of my clients cats. They questioned why my Client wasn't here and why my name was not on the appointment. Your facility is not wheel chair friendly or he would be here. His name is on the appointment because it's his cat. This is my second time back because they wouldn't work with me the first time! Never been here before, this is a first time for me. This is the only place I've been to that has been able to identify the skin issues my dog has been having. The doctor set up a treatment for my dog and we were in and out in about 20 minutes. The staff is very friendly and punctual. We've been to multiple vets and she is by far the best hands down!! We used to go to banfield for a few years and then tried a couple others but are so glad we found Riverwoods pet hospital and have been going here for a few years now. She is real and super sweet to your pets because she genuinely loves them. I also love how she doesn't try to just sell you a bunch of stuff which unfortunately was a common theme with all the other vets. They also do a doggy day care which I bring my dog to during the summer and he loves it because he gets to play in the back with kiddie pools, toys, and other dogs. Me and my husband have come to the decision that we'll probably never go to another vet other than river woods pet hospital. They are capable of providing everything we need for our two big dogs, and we trust that our dogs are always in good hands when we take them in. After seeing a 1 star review on here, I felt compelled to write a review based on my excellent experience with the wonderful people at RiverWoods Pet Hospital. The other reviewer complained about being turned away while another pet was in triage. Here's our story: Yesterday morning I came home from running some errands, and found that my little 10 lb puppy had somehow gotten into a package of 200 mg caffeine pills - and had eaten as few as seven- possibly more. It was fortunate that I came home when I did, because she had just barely started showing symptoms (walking at a slant, wheezing, moaning, etc...). I called another local veterinarian to ask if I could bring her in. They told me they were too busy, but to try the RiverWoods Pet Hospital - so, I did, and they advised me to bring her in immediately. We arrived ten minutes later, and my dog was - by that point - in critical condition (though, I didn't know that until told shortly afterward). The staff dropped everything they were doing to work on her, as they tried to keep her from having a seizure and going into cardiac arrest. It was very serious, and they had to turn away some patients who started coming in for their regular visits. While I felt sorry for those who had come in for their appointments, I am grateful to those who had a good attitude about it and understood the seriousness of our plight. I'll be eternally grateful that the doctor took in a new patient, didn't turn us away to another care center, and put others on hold in order to save the life of my puppy. Some people may not understand that a pet is like a member of a family, but mine are to me. I would expect no less of a healthcare professional, and would like to believe that I would be just as understanding of the situation had I been in the other pet-parent's shoes. Fortunately, my puppy survived. She had an extended (but, short) stay at the hospital, and the staff took exceptionally good care of her while she was with them. I made an appointment for my dog. Upon arrival I was told there was a different pet with an emergency and my pet couldn't be seen. I was then referred to Pet Urgent Care. If I made the appointment why wasn't the dog with an emergency sent to the animal emergency service? My time and money have been wasted. I love this place. I have been taking my bearded dragon here for awhile because she is dealing with parasites. Dr. Dobson is literally my favorite vet, ever...(and I have dealt with MANY vets!). She is VERY personable and definitely cares about the animals and their owners. She is always very sweet with the animals she sees. Whenever I go, if she is running a little behind or something happens that delays my appointment, she works with me on the price of the visit which is something I have never experienced from a vet. Last week I called in to see if they could take my pup in for a check-up as she had been sick for a couple of days. They were kind enough to work with my work schedule and see her on the same day that I called in. My husband and I had to put our sweet Golden Retriever, Aspen down after having her in our home for 12 of her 16 years. The staff was so VERY thoughtful, kind, gentle and respectful about the whole situation. They helped carry her in to the hospital from our car, and Jessica did the intake questions very thoroughly while another sweet helper kept Aspen comfortable. When the time came to give her the shots, Kim and Dr. Nemanic were so calming and tender with Aspen AND us. Dr. Nemanic reassured us we had made the right decision since she could tell Aspen was having something neurological by what her eyes were telling us. It seems as if this vet is obsessed with money.  Most vets I go to now will tell me options, prices, and if I REALLY need to do it or not.  It just seems to me like she has these little sales pitches that make me feel like I would be a bad pet owner if I don't do a million things.  When I went in for one shot, I leave with 3 extra $50 charges for things that NO ONE ever tells me before hand.  It's like a switch and bait weird sales thing they do and I end up leaving with a way higher bill than expected. Simply the best Veterinarian and staff that we have ever had the pleasure to work with and this is after having to put one of the best dogs we have ever had. We have always had three dogs since we were married (38 years ago) so dealing with Vets is something we know about. Belle was having a hard time breathing when I called and they told me to bring her right in. We had called the Veterinarian who had treated her about a month prior first but were told they were too busy and referred us here. The Dr. met me at the door and the first thing she said was "she's stable" don't panic. After a lot of conversations with her and weighing what would be best for we did make the hard decision to let her go to sleep after she explained to us ALL of our options A week or so later we were called and told that they had a gift for us. We had a strange experience at Riverwoods. We brought our new dog here for her free health check after adopting her from the Humane Society. Both of the vet techs we encountered were amazing. They were kind, quick, engaged, and clearly cared about our dog as much as you'd want veterinary staff to care. Unfortunately, when the vet arrived, she immediately launched into a long explanation of why she would soon stop doing free health checks for the Humane Society, including explaining how much money she was losing by seeing us and our dog. I was confused: Why did she agree to see us if she didn't want to? And since we were already there, why did we need to know why she wouldn't be seeing future Humane Society referrals? She ended her speech by saying, in effect, "I'll never see you again because you're planning to get booster shots at the Humane Society." This was true; she could not offer us the shots for a lower price, and we had an appointment with the Humane Society from our adoption day.What bothered me was that the veterinarian did not seem to think that she could ever offer us any services in the future beyond these booster shots. I had assumed that after coming to this office and giving them all our information and our dog's health history, we would return here for yearly check-ups and any other veterinary needs. And sure enough, days later our dog needed antibiotics for a minor infection. We went elsewhere. This was not the way to make a lifelong customer. Read Less

All my five year old wanted for her birthday was bunnies. We walked her into a toy story and offered to buy her anything in the store and still, she only wanted pet bunnies. So we bought her two Netherlands dwarf 6 week old bunnies. Within a day, one of the bunnies leaped out of her arms and landed on hardwood floor, breaking her femur. We were devastated and wasn't sure what to do. We took them to Riverwoods Pet Hospital and were completely blown away by Dr. Dobsen and her staff. They were so kind, compassionate and empathetic to our situation. They kept both our bunnies overnight until the injured one had surgery to fix the break. They kept us updated throughout the process and were very professional. Lindsey was especially amazing as she exemplified superior client service. She went above and beyond by making sure we had pictures of our baby bunny and answered any questions we had. The staff work closely together to make sure the experience exceeds your expectations. I have vet tech experience so upon moving to Utah from California I had high expectations of my dogs new Veterinarian.  Dr. Dobsen's personality and demeanor was very refreshing as you can obviously see how much she loves the work she does. I have a French Bulldog that has had some ongoing foot issues since we moved out here and within a few re-checks all is now under control. The staff at Riverwoods has gone above and beyond for me as far as recommendations, dog boarding and helping me stick to a strict budget. Dr. Dobsen also has her own line of products she recommends to her clients and I have been using an aloe and oatmeal shampoo on my dog that has been working wonders. Dr. Dobsen integrates Chinese medicine in her practice which is also a huge plus to me. Many animal hospitals are still stuck in the dark ages in regards to the amazing results that can be had with amazing herbs and acupuncture.
